Question failed to revert back to stock os after flashing graphene os - Google Pixel 6

i tried to revert back to stock, but ended in failing to flashing system partition

I'm no expert at all but got in a bind going from GrapheneOS to ProtonAOSP uning their web installers. Device disconnected and couldn't be found etc. Couldn't even go back to GrapheneOS. I'm pretty sure I ran the wipe command as per ProtonAOSP manual install "fastboot -w"? Then graphenOS installed again. Then I worked out the web installer for ProtonAOSP just won't work at all - but the manual install did work great. I went to ProtonAOSP because MS Outlook keeps crashing on Graphene. Pretty sure you will work it out. Def download the newest platform tools (adb/fastboot) and use a good known cable (I use GoPro USB cables).

[Q] Camera Black Screen | Cyanogenmod 11 | Full wipe

Hi,
I do not have enough posts to post in the cyanogenmod nightlies thread to get a definitive answer, hence why this subforum. I guess my question may be rom independent anyway.
I 'upgraded' from an M release of cyanogenmod to a nightly and buggered my phone. I was forced to flash the stock firmware and then reflash the nightly to fix everything. Except my camera shows a black screen (behind the onscreen focus and options) and force closes nearly all the time. I thought it was just the nightly, but 2 months and 20+ new nightlies later, I still have the issue. In the nightles dev thread, people say the camera is fine. I know the hardware is fine, because 1 in 40 tries the camera randomly works.
I tried a factory wipe, which I now know just wipes user data. So In CWM, under 'mounts and storage' I formatted everything I could and did another factory reset, cache etc. No fix.
I guess this issue is with the rom itself, if the camera is force closing? So I'll have to use Odin or such to flash a stock rom again and flash another cyanogenmod version? But I want to check this is correct before continuing, and how I can completely wipe any trace of the current rom before flashing the stock and another nightly - so I don't get this issue again.
Thanks
So I finally found the issue, after battling with heimdall on ubuntu 14.04 for hours. Its a hardware problem.
I'm just going to leave my experience here in case someone else has the same issue, since anything to do with all the issue I am about to describe don't seem to be documented anywhere on the web clearly.
Firstly, I battled with heimdall 1.3.2 to recognise my phone on ubuntu. I kept getting;
Code:
ERROR: Failed to receive response!
After a number of threads talking about installing usblibx drivers I found one about which libs to install from terminal;
Code:
sudo apt-get install libXXXX
Code:
libusb-ocaml
libdevice-usb-perl
libhpmud0 (not sure if it's essential)
libusb-0.1-4
libusb-1.0-0
libusb-1.0-0-dev
libusb-dev
libusbprog-dev
libusb++-0.1-4c2
libusb++-dev
libusbtc08-1
libusbmuxd-dev
libusbprog0
libusbmuxd1
I installed all but couldn't find libusbmuxd1, restarted anyway, to the same error. I purged heimdall 1.3.2 and instead installed it from the Ubuntu software centre, which using
Code:
sudo apt-cache policy heimdall
showed that I had version 1.4 installed. Then I managed to find
Code:
libusbx-1.0.14_1.0.14-1_amd64.deb
floating somewhere on the internet, which finally installed the proper libusb stuff and allowed heimdall to continue without the error message.
I made a .pit file from my phone. I recommend this first. After hours searching for a stock rom (samsung has removed most of its firmware downloads? and asked links to be removed on other sites!?) came across this site
(I can't post links as a new user) - google [TUTORIAL] Flashing i9000, i9100 or i9300 with Heimdall
Which explains how to flash using heimdall. After a successful flash, my phone didn't get farther than the boot animation. I booted into stock recovery with vol up-home-power to factory reset, but noticed a dead droid and red writting. Rather than continue, I wanted to fix this, so I followed the tutorial again, but this time checked repartition under the pit path, and hoped for the best. The phone stalled at the boot anim again, but this time in recovery, all was good.
I did a data wipe / factory reset, cache wipe etc, but nothing. So I stuck the stock rom zip onto the micro sd and installed it from recovery, factory reset, and rebooted. (which is odd, having to install the rom from recovery - because doesn't that kinda defeat the point of using the same image on heimdall in the first place?!?)
The phone booted! So after all that, (Having data/factory reset, wiped the cache, (wiped the dalvik cache when i had CWM before and formatted all I could in mounts and storage) flashed the stock ROM AND repartitioned the phone) i thought that would eliminate any software issues. I thought the camera would work.
Nope.
As usual, the front camera worked, but the back, now, after a pause would give the samsung error:
Code:
unknown error by errorcallback
Now, after googling this (Cyanogenmod gave a different error with no related answers on google) and being annoyed at my time lost, I took the tongue and cheek advice from some random forum commenter, to tap the camera hard.
It worked.
Apparently, the entire time the camera was suffering from a hardware issue. Something about a 'sticky shutter'. Anyways, i'm going to leave the stock ROM and take it into a shop to get it fixed. Just leaving this trail of breadcrumbs in the hope it helps someone else.
Perhaps this could be marked as 'solved'.
Same problem
FINALLY; first time I see the problem I have (I'm not feeling good about you having the problem, btw). I've had this problem for a lot of time and I haven't had found it elsewhere.
I have the same issue, but without the error that says "unknown error by errorcallback". Mine just says "Unfortunately, Camera has stopped working". I didn't really understand if it had appeared to you after you did all that, or if it was from the beginning... anyways, just "tapping hard" the camera will make it work? And, did it fix it permanently?
Sorry for any typo.
Edit: I've "tapped" the camera really hard, and no signs of anything. Any advice? (I've done practically everything you have done but flashing the stock rom)

It fixed it, but then I flashed back the AICP ROM, which is KK, and it malfunctioned again. I'm going to try with a JB Custom ROM.
Update: I flashed a JB Custom Rom (Fusion Rom) and it's working good so far.

nothing working :(

well after somehow breaking the miui stock cam when enabling the camera2apk, and being unable to fix it by replacing build.prop, i decided to restore the backup i made in twrp earlier.
restored backup: sticks at MI logo.
tried several times, cleared caches, wiped etc etc.. will not boot after restore.
so i downloaded the stock global rom, and flashed it in twrp: sticks at MI logo. will not boot
downloaded Ressurection Remix rom, flashed that.. works fine. but i want stock or as near as possible for now.
downloaded developer miui rom, flashed that in twrp: stuck at MI logo. will not boot.
tried stock stable rom again... same story, will not boot.
downloaded Miflash, and recommended TGZ archive of ROM. followed instructions and extracted to a folder and browsed to folder with Miflash. hit "refresh"
get error "length cannot be less than zero"
tried using the "mi recovery" method (renaming rom to "update.zip" and power/vol_up)
but for whatever reason, there is no "install update" option even present.
as you can see im having a very frustrating evening. i only wanted to enable the damn google camera.
flash it by edl mode
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
is there a decent guide for that anywhere? from what ive seen it still requires miflash to be working? which it, frankly, just isnt. but then, nothing is! dont think ive ever had an evening where so many things which are supposed to work all give problems together.
i mean, i could understand if the custom rom was problematic, but its the only thing that *did* work.
404 Not found
well i managed to get a stock rom installed by downloading an older version of miflash... that didnt give any errors and installed the global rom fine.
i would love to know what could be causing all my problems though. seems everthing ive tried should work.
the one that is bugging me more than anything now is that whenever i enable the camera2api, the miui stock camera stops working ( crash on hdr, panorarama mode) and stays broken even if i remove mod.
this should not happen it seems, since there are guides for enabling this and adding the pro features to the camera from higher models.
nobody seems to have an opinion on it, which is very strange considering the number of people who must have done the camera2 mod...

I dropped miui long ago, so it is difficult to comment. However, the problem would probably be found in the settings (and/or the drivers in the system). Reinstalling a stock system image and wiping /data (and formatting it, if necessary) should solve the problem. This is, of course, a drastic step - but I would be very surprised if the problem persisted after such a step.
you have to flash lazy flasher after every MIUI stock rom flashing to be able to boot the rom...
google it "lazy flasher'

[TWRP Problem] Samsung Galaxy J7 2015 T-Mobile (SMJ00T) Improper Restore

I'm very new to the rooting community, and I'm well aware of all of the problems. I've messed around, and bricked my phone many times but always knew how to fix it by flashing the custom rom. I've did whole of April until I figured out the proper rooting my model's for 6.0.1 software, and the 7.1.1 software. I eventually got tired of repeating this process, so in May (after I properly rooted my device and everything worked perfectly) I backed up everything including my system in TWRP.
Now the problem is, after using the xui tuner from xposed installer a bit, my phone seemed working for a bit, and lockscreen worked, but it randomly kept restarting at the boot animation . I grew impatient and restarted my phone properly a couple times but it kept rebooting after I unlocked my phone or just waited at my lockscreen. I then started got scared that I damaged something in my system or software, so I went to use TWRP to restore my backup (which I also literally backed up on this Tuesday). It apparently was successful, until the bootlogo freezing and saying my kernal wasn't SEANDROID ENFORCING.
Then now, I kept reformatting my data and restarting but it wouldn't work, it kept failing. So I gave up, and flashed my stock rom. This worked, but I obviously lost all my data. So to possibly help someone, I want to list what I think could've been the problem. (Still new, so I may list alot of unlikely things. Also random order)
1. I didn't format my data before the first restore, thus it failing.
2. Improper backup, I either backed up unnecessary partions like radio, or TWRP just didn't backup properly.
3. My sd card, I had many problems with my sd card before doing this type of stuff, but it went away during may. During may however, I backed up my magisk modules to it too, but they didn't appear on TWRP. Meaning it may have stopped working again. It also deleted my root folder, where I held the magisk zip and uninstaller.
Now this could bring another problem, I was using Magisk and Xposed installer, while also having my stock framework, xposed framework, and sony framwork (this was to use remote play), and in result my phone couldn't handle it and the module from both Magisk and Xposed.
4. I backed up my system while using the ashyx encryption zip, meaning when TWRP restored encrypted files?
5? XUI Tuner, I modified too many things with the app and probably did something to to the root directory. (Most likely Unlikely)
6. I modified my build prop by adding more code like the android users function, and TWRP probably couldn't back that up so it restored wrong like in 2
7? I modified TWRP by using a custom theme in the recovery, making certain functions like backup and restore not work?
8. I was using an old version of TWRP, 3.0.2 instead of 3.2 because 3.2. However, this is because 3.2 didn't work with my phone, and neither did 3.1.
I now flashed the stock rom, and everything works again. I just have to re-root. I didn't lose much data really, and I backed up some stuff in samsung cloud anyway. I just wanted to make this thread so I can fix the problem properly in the future, in which someone else may need it too. This model of samsung phone really isn't popular in the community, so it really would be helpful to other people. The solution could also work for other J700 variants, especially J700T1 since it's the most similar.
P.S. This is also just a small thing to help people too. Rooting this model is actually pretty easy, there's just a catch for one version of it.
6.0.1 can easily be rooted, especially with autoroot. It's works well, and you don't have to lose anydata at ALL! However magisk is untested.
7.1.1 on the other hand does require to format it's data to work so you have to back up anything you want to keep.. Superuser for me made wifi and the flashlight inaccessible, so I had to use Magisk. Which worked fine. There are two different versions of this root though. (Tested Once) One is basically like how the stock rom and has the manual, mobile data quick setting, and battery settings. to get it, don't use ashyx encrptyion . The other is like how you got it your device and set it up normally, no manual or extra settings, and requires ashyx encryption for this. The one I used was the ashyx encrpytion, and I was fine using this method because I kinda already lost everything over and over so I didn't care (end of april).
Edit: Turns out the stock version happens when you flash the stock rom, then immediately flash a custom recovery, and formatting the data without launching the the phone. I think this happens because when you get your phone, and activate it with a carrier sim card it downloads the additional files for that carrier which allows and when you format the data it formats the carrier version instead of the default system on the phone.
I hope we can find a solution for the kernal problem, so other people can fix this properly.
I would also like to ask if someone can make a odin and TWRP flashable kernal file of both the 6.0.1 and 7.1.1 versions of the SM-J700 variants, but for now in this thread the J700T is fine, unless all variants have the same stock kernal. This could be a solution and very helpful.
I have a USA T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy J7 J700TUVU3BQK3 phone and Can someone give me links to where I need to download the firmware ROM for this phone & all the different software I would need to root this phone or modify-backup its operating system??? My computer operating system is windows and also does anyone know how to setup a multiple operating systems on a computer where u can choose to either boot to different versions of windows and lynux.?? [Q] Gapps w/o Recovery // TWRP for GSI9.0 // Others

Hi,
last week I bought myself a Huawei P20 Lite as this one seems to be good comprise between size, speed and price and all together I find this device quite nice.
However I'm not a big fan of this ROMs, it's bloated and you have to confirm on each and everyhting, so I tried to reduce this dramatically and I began a long journey....
Unlock the bootloader
When I bought the device I wasn't aware about the issues that I may face (Downgrad, additional 4 Euro to spend) but OK, I thought it would be worth....
Installing Recovery
..but I couldn't be more wrong. It seems that there's no working TWRP for this device out there. I tried a lot, both on 8.0 and 9.1 but each time I tried to
wipe cache/dalvik the whole system got stucked and wasn't able to show the boot animation. So, assuming that there's really no working recovery out there, I continued to
directly flash different ROMs and try out my luck.
Rooting
This wasn't as hard as I though first, at least, as long as the ROM I've used had an advanced Reboot-Menu with the possibilty to boot to recovery, otherwise you end up somewhere in the desert and
may not be able to restart with boot.
The problem is, that this device required to patch the RECOVERY_RAMDISK partition, so in order to have Magisk booted, you required to use the Recovery. No big deal: just Power up
using VolUp and Power until the Huawei logo appears... normally.. It didnt work in more than 50% of the times...
Gapps (or Magisk)
OK, as I already indicated, I tried lots of them, but to be honest, none of them really convinced me (all was done on EMUI9.1 "AB" and not EMUI8 "A only")
GSI Phh Treble: nice, but this is one of thinks I did not checked in depth, as almost all (?) are based on this one...
OmniRom from OpenKirin: works perfectly out of the box, SafeteNet is working, Magisk can be installed, but no advanced boot menu and I find it a little bit overloaded...
MicroG ufOffical: I would go with it, everyhting worked, it's slim BUT I couldn't get my Banking-App working, not even after appliying multiple MagiskHide Prop-Settings...
Descendant: This one was by far my favorite... Really slim, advanced reboot-menu, but I couldn't flash Gapps. OK, so I tried MicroG: this can be installed using Magisk. After some trouble (e.g. you have to install DroidGuardHelper so that the OS recognizes an "Update") I got MicroG working, but I coulnd't get it with my Banking-App. In this ROM I couldn't even apply any MagiskProp Hide-Settings. Only Post-FS worked. OK, as I'Ve failed using this approach, I thought: maybe I can use Gapps with this image.... but as I stated at the beginning: I do not have any working Recovery.
So my questions:
Is there any working Recovery out there? TWRP 3.3.x supports to be flashed in RECOVERY_RAMDISK (and there's also offical support for P20 Pro) As of now I wouldn't even care about decrypted data, but at least be able to wipe and do a factory reset....
Or: Is it possible to install Gapps from a running (rooted) system?
Or: can I patch system.img with Gapps before flashing it to the phone?
But perfectly: did anyone get Descendant running with MagiskHideProp? Maybe even got MicroG running on it?
I'm currently out of ideas, did someone else had such a trouble with that device?
Best regards,
Peter
Well, yes. Kinda the same as you but I didn't try that many roms. I tried a fair bunch of twrp versions though. And I managed to use twrp to flash roms and if I remember well even do a dalvik/cache wipe with one of them - but I might be imagining that one. It is worth noting that you can actually use some twrp versions for other huawei devices on the p20 lite. Try at your own risk. There is a lot more development going on for the p8 lite (2017) for example. I tried the lineageos version that was posted herefor that device and it worked quite well.

Mobile data won't work since I've flashed and rooted my redmi note 5

Edit: solved, pay your bills in time kids !
Hi guys, I have a mobile data issue since i flashed my phone two days ago.
I cannot connect my phone to the internet unless I use wifi. Texts and calls are working.
Issue is occurring on both Lineage OS 18 (unofficial) and CrDroid 11.
I already flashed and reflashed the roms, wipe data, system, everything multiple times, flashed the original modem/NON-HLOS.bin file via fastboot with no luck. Tried on multiple recovery too just in case (twrp, pitchblackRP, OrangeFox). I mostly use sideloading but install from an sd card got me the same results.
Issue happens with rooted (magisk last version) roms and unrooted roms aswell.
I had several issues about twrp/recovery being unable to mount /data, which I tricked to do so by resizing data from ext4 to ext2 then to ext4 again. Not sure that's the good way to do it.
I tried to go back to a clean room with relocking the bootloader and flashing the official fastboot rom but I got stuck on a bootloop. I tried other methods with MiFlash and succeeded into booting the official rom but i'm stuck on the Welcome/new device screen (the little slideshow crash/won't advance to the next step when i have to choose between recover data from an old phone or start from scratch). I went back to crdroid for now.
My first thought was to tinker with the APN but it didn't worked, sometimes i get a message like "APN Settings are not available for the current user" but I usually manage to still write them, with no effect still. I'm on the a french operator called "Free"
Typing ##4636## in my phone app gets me to a debug menu where I can see that I'm not connected to the data services (but i'm connected to the vocal services). I have a way to check the IMS state in this menu, which tells me that i'm not registered, don't know what that means.
Already did the trick of cleaning sim card, going in plane mode, changing favorite network and so on. I'm a little desperate
If you cannot help me with this, can someone points me a good tutorial on how to going nuclear on a phone and delete everything to reflash an official Mi rom ? I'm quite used to flashing roms but I still get a bit lost between a factory reset, a data wipe, and what to flash/wipe/mount in order etc.
Vendor or firmware flashing you test?
I think maybe vendor help

Sorry i didn't mention it. My last flash attempt was flash Xiaomi FW > flash crdroid > flash gapps >flash magisk and that's my current set up, and it still doesn't works. The issue might lie in the SIM card, i previously tried the sim card of a relative on my phone and it didn't do much but this morning the same sim worked and mine still does not. I'll report back once I have a new one.
Edit: could you explain what vendor is ? What's the difference with the fw or a rom ?

I'm going to lose it lmao, the reason why I didn't had any access to my mobile data is because... My monthly bill payment didn't went through because of a credit card renewal.... I apparently decided to flash my rom the day of the due date and didn't saw any warning hence the confusion. Probleme solved, I paid my bill and the data is back (what a surprise). i feel like an idiot but i've learnt things, thanks for the link joke19.
