Looking for help on how to sim/carrier unlock rooted v60 - LG V60 ThinQ Questions & Answers

My LG V60 was an ATT version, and is now rooted and cross flashed to t mobile firmware. I tried getting the code through the ATT website, and they said they can't approve the unlock request.

So from what I've read online, a phone has to be on its original network for a certain number of days to be able to be unlocked, how does this work? Is there any way around this? Is there something I can do on a rooted phone to fix this, or can carrier aggregation fix this? (what they're doing here:
Enabling Carrier Aggregation LG V60
Hi, Can someone post the carrier policy files of the LG V60 LMV600EA version ? I need this files to enable carrier aggregation on my canadian V60. Thanks

LG V10 SIM Locked - Not For Sale Unit

Hi All,
I bought a LG V10 T-Mobile thru buy& sell online and didn't realized that it still Network Unlocked. I cannot use it to other Network provider and I am very frustrated already. I already try using several unlocking sites but the codes for my IMEI are always cannot be calculated. I'm not sure if this unit is just a demo and cannot be unlock. I also check my IMEI number to T-Mobile IMEI Checker from their site but unable to verify my number. Done also chatting with one of T Mobile support but they cannot also help me to unlock my phone. They said I need to by a T Mobile SIM Card but it is not possible because I'm from the Philippines. There is also a note engraved to my unit saying "Not for Sale H960A Rev 1.0".
Please help me if there's still a way to unlock the network of my phone.
Thank you.

sprint lg v30+ for tmobile user.

Sorry about creating a thread but wanted to make sure I can flash Sprint LG v30+ to T-Mobile without issue. Tried to read a few threads but from my understanding Oreo had messed things up at one point.
Does it have to be unlocked through Sprint first?
Simple flash T-Mobile or international rom makes it usable?

No, doesn't have to be unlocked through Sprint first. And Oreo didn't mess up anything.
Some of the T-Mobile guys are complaining about T-mobile Oreo. I own five US998 and don't see anything they are complaining about. Must be a T-Mobile H932 issue.
You will convert LS998 V30+ to official carrier unlocked model US998 V30+ with Oreo, and run on T-Mobile. Converting to US998 carrier unlocks the phone and gives it fastboot flash commands.
You can stop there, or you can bootloader unlock, install TWRP and root the phone.
Whatever you do after that (Install ROMs or whatever) is your choice.
You will NOT flash T-Mobile firmware onto the phone or you will brick the phone.
Many T-Mobile users are running rooted US998 (original or converted) on T-Mobile.

My Sprint V30+ is sim unlocked. If I flash it to carrier unlocked phone and toss a TMobile sim in it, will I get access to VoLTE?
Right now when I toss a TMobile sim in it, calls drop to 2G/3G.

If flashed to US998 Oreo you will definitely get T-Mobile Wi-Fi calling.
T-Mobile users can answer specifically about T-Mobile VoLTE on US998.
But since you can temporarily drop down to HSPA for phone calls and still get data, it's not critical. I don't have VoLTE on my AT&T Prepaid plan and I don't care.

LS998 to US998 Questions?

I currently have a Sprint LS998 which I've been using for almost a year, with the recent OTA update LTE calling is getting disable which is a real bummer and Sprint's VoLTE isn't available in my area. After looking on the forum pages I found out that it is possible to flash my Sprint LS998 to a US998 but had a couple of questions before I attempted it.
1. Will it work with on TMobile/AT&T/Verizon?
2. If i do decide to flash will I still retain VoLTE, HD Calling, Wifi Calling when switching to a new network?
3. Once I've flashed will I still be able to obtain OTA updates?
Sorry if these are noob questions, I am quite new to this. Thanks.

Yes to most of your questions.
I believe you can get T-Mobile VoLTE converting LS998 to US998 KDZ, just through Frankenstein. I know there's lots of US998 on T-mobile.
I KNOW you can get Verizon VoLTE/WiFi calling by converting LS998 to VS996 with KDZ, via Frankenstein. But you would need already-activated Verizon SIM card.
However, for AT&T features like that, you need bootloader unlock, TWRP and then flash AT&T stock firmware ROM. Which means you would Frankenstein to US998 to get fastboot flash commands. If you were bootloader unlocking and installing TWRP, you could also afterwards flash the latest Verizon stock firmware "ROM" (built from the latest Verizon KDZ), if you didn't want AT&T. However, I recommend AT&T just because I use them.
So, you have options with both stock firmware KDZ or options after bootloader unlock and TWRP -- whatever you prefer.
----
You may not receive OTA after converting from LS998 -- but you don't need it. We have all the latest firmware posted here (in both KDZ and TWRP flashable zip "ROM") in this forum. For reasons unexplained, my wife has not received any OTA for her totally stock US998 since January 2018, but she's still on the latest firmware. I flashed it via LGUP. For myself, I use TWRP-flashable zip (since I'm bootloader unlocked and have TWRP). Easy to flash newer firmware in less than 5 minutes, which is typically released every 2 or 3 months.

Just to confirm in order to get the phone working on AT&T I need to first Frankenstein it to US998, then unlock the bootloader, and finally flash an AT&T stock firmware ROM? From then I should be able to put an AT&T sim card and activate service?

We're getting into a lot of scenarios here. I don't want to tell you wrong, but there's lots of options. For ME, I care about bootloader unlock and root and my answers are going to be skewed that way.
1) If you do NOT want that, just buy an AT&T H931. Done.
2) My phone works on AT&T as US998 -- but I don't have Wi-Fi calling. I have AT&T Prepaid and I don't care.
3) If you buy another North America variant (say fantastic price) that can be Frankensteined, and you want all the options and privileges on AT&T you will need to flash it first to US998 -- bootloader unlock/install TWRP -- and then flash the AT&T zipped firmware file.
The only caveat is most people who do this already have activated AT&T SIM card. US998 and H931 will activate on AT&T just fine. BUT they may balk at "Sprint" LS998 IMEI even though it may have US998 or H931 firmware. Depends on the store you use. There are other North America variants you can buy but for some reason the LS998 V30+ (whether actual or already flashed to US998) is ridiculously inexpensive.
Hello guys, if I bought a Sprint lg v30 with a bad imei, can I Frankenstein to US998 and use it with T mobile and ATT?

Frankensteining doesn't change the IMEI.
Talk about changing the IMEI is not allowed on XDA, as I recall... you may have to look elsewhere.
I'm gonna hijack this thread to ask a couple questions about Frankenstein v30's. I'm a Canadian on Bell and want to pick up a v30. I found a bunch on ebay us998 for a good price, how can I tell if it's been done? Will it really affect me at all if it is? I do travel to the US sometimes does that mean anything for when I try to use it down there?

At worst you would need an already activated SIM card, if it's LS998 to US998. I've owned two and two friends have a couple -- all of us are on AT&T and just put in our SIM cards. A friend just went today with a converted LS998/US998 and AT&T ACTIVATED a new SIM card for her. She called me to tell me of the success. I was a little worried. For her other LS998/US998 phone (a few months ago) it was an already activated SIM card, but this "new" phone (today) was for her sister.
I can't tell you about Canadian carriers' views on that subject.

You would just need to find a carrier who doesn't care it was possibly a Sprint phone but is now a carrier unlocked US998. Shouldn't be an issue unless you are trying to use Verizon or Sprint.

LG V30 H931 AT&T model cannot update O.S.

My phone LG V30 H931 black AT&T model
i bought in dubai as 2nd hand phone and now
im trying to update OTA it says " Your device is already updated " . i have checked in AT&T software official site and the device has available update for July 2019 security patch. My phone security patch is still last July 2018 since i purchased it.
I also tried LG bridge computer update but it shows " LG bridge cannot detect your device O.S. " does it mean im stuck in 8.0 Oreo ? weird, i have a korean version LG V40 and connecting to Lg bridge has no problem it detects the current OS of my V40 LGU + model.
So i realized it maybe because my phone is AT&T model , USA based phone and im not using at&t sim nor network since im in Dubai now
Now question ,is there any other solution to update into android Pie 9.0? or should i just. sell my phone and better buy another V30 or V35 korean version which has no problem in updating O.S. rather than USA based phones which are restricted . thanks

Last question sir, if the AT&T phone is unlocked already like my LG V30 case, i can insert dubai sim now and it is working to other sim as well, does it mean that i can update as well the software android in any country i go? because this is AT&T US based phone ,does it really require AT&T sim ? or no need since the phone is already unlocked? thanks

Months ago, I wrote a Guide for AT&T H931 and Sprint LS998 which can't update, if you are not AT&T or Sprint customer. It tell HOW to update them.

No, doesn't have Pie yet, but soon will. They will get Pie. But this question is not really about Pie, this is about updating H931 at all. There's only one way to do that, if you are not an AT&T customer. I tell how in the Sticky.
I've answered this question two or three dozen times and people just keep creating new threads to ask again. Thought sure the Sticky would help and maybe it has.

Device being carrier unlocked (by some code) has nothing to do with getting carrier-approved updates only allowed for that carrier's customers.
AT&T and Sprint don't want you using their devices on other networks, and if you do, they punish you. They also don't care about AT&T/Sprint customers who may sell their phones on eBay to non-customers.
There is a solution. Read the sticky.

Only AT&T H931 and Sprint LS998 are ostensibly restricted. There's a way around the restriction, explained in the sticky.
Neither carrier release public KDZ for their updates. They will only do FOTA (Firmware Over The Air) for customers who have their SIM cards.
This is why LG Bridge won't work for H931 or LS998, because you can capture the URL to the LG Server and post it publicly. We do this all the time in the OTHER variant KDZ threads, where you can download KDZ straight from LG Servers. AT&T and Sprint won't allow that.

* I've already explained it's not all U.S. carrier phones. However, if you research you will know AT&T and Sprint LG phones do not give updates to non-customers, nor do they publicly release KDZ update files. Those two carriers only release FOTA (firmware over the air) to customers.
* Most everyone here in this forum uses or has used LGUP. It's not risky if you just read the directions.
Many people on different LG variants don't get OTA updates (like India H930DS) and even my wife's native US998 -- and it's not because they aren't U.S. carrier customers. So they come here to get updates, and manually install them via Dev Patched LGUP.
For everyone else with AT&T H931 or Sprint LS998, here's the answer:

1. The hardware and software support VoLTE. Whether or not you can get the proper T-Mobile IMS settings programmed onto your Sprint G8X is a totally different story.
2. I suspect that by using a jig such as Octoplus it would be doable. Or even using the modded version of LG Up, so long aa you have the proper KDZ file. Until someone manages to unlock the bootloader and we can have at this phone we wont know for sure. What model is your G8X?
Now that we have bootloader unlocked .. is the sprint g8x a good option for TMobile?

I would also also like to know. Probably should have done the research a week ago, but I bought an unlocked Sprint G8X to use on a T-Mobile MVNO and just recently learned that it'll need VoLTE for voice calls to work after the 3G shutdown. Ugh.
