Air trigger App Launcher
Air trigger is a useful tool for gamers. Yeah there are short squeeze and long squeeze gestures are available when using the phone normally, But asus limits it's potential to use it as gesture to open apps like music player, maps or others.
Asus restricts the air triggers to launch apps that are, "Only for preloaded apps and apps in games, social or communication category in Google Play"
And till now there is no workaround (that i know of) even with root
To launch all apps i created App Launcher which has package name of Opera browser (just to get detected by air trigger).
It will show all the installed apps and even system apps that you can choose from. It can launch any app and it won't interfere with recents apps. So there won't be any issue opening and closing the app.
Install Instructions:
1.Install App launcher
2. Go to system settings-Advanced- AirTriggers
3. Under short/long squeeze, Select App launcher in Launch app category.
4.Open the app and choose your favourite app and click launch
If it works, open & set the app again & choose save.
Now opening the app via Air trigger will launch the saved app every single time.
If you need to choose other app
Clear data of app launcher & set again.
Note : This app is built with opera browser package name. If you are using opera browser change the package of opera browser to other name before installing this app.

I am still learning how to do things. Is there a way to add shortcuts on opening the stock B&N Web browser and Reader to the desktop like you can with other app downloads? I hate always having to hit the home "N" button to bring up the options for Web/Reader access... Very annoying.
I am rooted and have blocked the OTA already.

Are you using the default launcher or a 3rd party app?
What launcher are you using? You should be able to tap and hold in the app drawer and drag them to the desktop.

I want to use the default launcher and not Golauncher. As far as I can tell, they don't show up in the default app drawer or in app manager when using the default launcher.

Check out this app: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.hari.sideloadapps&hl=en
You will be able to put apps and shortcuts on the normal launcher.
It will also appear in your normal app library along with the others.
I have to Nook Color App Manager, but the Web browser doesn't seem to show up in there.
Also, I can find the .apk for the browser in /system/app as browser.apk, but that only installs the app.
Have you tried the app 'anycut'?
Sent from my rooted NT using Tapatalk
Yes, tried Anycut also. The newly created shortcut doesn't show up on the desktop. If I run Go Launcher and use Anycut... Then the newly created shortcut for The browser shows up with no problem. I just want it in the default launcher.
I've tried asking the forums here if anyone had figured out how to launch the reader with a shortcut or application, aka a shortcut similar to the "open book" icon on the Nook bar. Little response, lol.
I've tried anycut and the nook color app to no success. "Reader.apk" does not launch my currently open book. It just opens a blank screen. I've settled to accept just opening the library first and then opening my book.

Many, many,m...... but you can also use Wear Mini Launcher with his "interactive touch" -> one button overlay to access at 9 apps.
Wear Mini Launcher is what I use, too. It's like having the equivalent of your phone's app drawer.
Since the last update added the larger multiwindow size and enabled virtually every app on the play store for multiwindows, I use windowed apps constantly. I have a vast array of apps I use throughout the day, side by side. It's fantastic.
The biggest hassle was having to goto the app drawer constantly to open apps, just to then minimize them until they were needed. That got me thinking that an app launcher would be great to keep minimized instead. I pondered creating one on my own, but thankfully there is a perfectly suited one already on the play store.

No ads, no IAPs. Super simple interface with just enough customization to tweak it to your tastes. I just keep this app open in window mode, on the task bar all day, and I never need to hit the home screen or app drawer to open an app.
I've started using it and like it - thanks for the tip! I'm using Nova Launcher so don't have the app drawer at the bottom of the screen, but instead have an icon on the desktop. The app saves returning to the desktop each time to open a new app. As you say easy to use and just enough customisation to do what you want it to do.
