I want to install another os than the custom ROM. More specifically the Pixel Experience.
have tried to install it using this guide:
[ROM][13][ENCRYPTION][Official] Pixel Experience for A52 4G and A72
/* * Your warranty is now void. * I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, * thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this...

but it's not possible with TWRP not being supported with A528B yet. :/

I don't know any.
I've tried many custom ROMs and can say there is no better ROM than stock one. I agree rooting, but rooting only stocks.

even though there aren't many custom roms, what would be nice to have TWRP for is the ability to do nandroid backups of the phone, including the EFS. That's what I would use it for most the time...

You can backup EFS if you have a rooted device using a terminal emulator with root privilages
dd if=/dev/block/by-name/efs of=/sdcard/efs-backup.img
dd if=/dev/block/by-name/modemst1 of=/sdcard/modemst1 -backup.img
dd if=/dev/block/by-name/modemst2 of=/sdcard/modemst2 -backup.img

Where were you yesterday when I had to fish through dead links to find this!!
Thanks!! :victory:
Alternatively, the latest version can also be found at the 'Clockworkmod' rom manager page.
To install this version you need a terminal emulator program and SU access.
Code:
sudo su
[I]<grant access if asked>[/I]
dd if=[I]<path to>[/I]/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p22
NOTE: Be careful about the part after 'of='. Any typo can cause you to wipe out or permanently brick your phone.
I have an even newer version of cwm in one of my Rom threads. I believe it's cwm 6.0.4.5. Also have twrp 2.7.0.0 in my thread you'll find it in the android development section. They are both flashable zips.

I would like to know this info as well. I came across this video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erPEAMxGpcU showing how to install Lineage 15 on the Tab S3. I wasn't sure if anyone else tried this?
Maybe I'm missing something, but that video didn't show anything about installing an OS.

The instructions are in the description below the video.
OK, I did find it. A couple of things. First, there is no official lineage os for the tab s3 and I'm not sure what roms that auto-root tool is going to come up with for the s3. Second, I don't know what the auto-root tool does and I'm not going to try it on my device. There have been root tools that connect to servers in China, etc. Also, it seems to be pretty generic to android devices, many of which require different recovery and root methods, and samsung devices can be bricked relatively easily.

I just got my mate 10 (non-pro). I want to root it, and then install the beta of xposed for oreo. Are there any guides for this? Although I'm reading this may not be possible yet in this device? if so, is there any way to install TWRP / custom recovery to 'lay the groundwork' for maybe installing xposed at a later date? (so that I don't have to wipe my device or lose data at a later date).
Thanks very much!

I didn't think I would be regretting buying this phone on the first day of owning it! very disappointing. https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-10/how-to/how-to-huawei-mate-10-pro-standard-t3709535/page4 based on this thread it also seems like Rooting causes people to lose theme functionality and AI functionality. Will try out tomorrow. Thanks!
Can you explain how to get the boot.img from the phone? I would like to try patching it myself.
And do you know if the boot.img is the same across different firmware versions and different versions of the phone?

I assume that fastboot flashing this requires that the bootloader be unlocked, right? With my original Moto X Dev Edition, I did not need to worry about voiding the warranty...

I assume that the OP may have unlocked the bootloader, installed TWRP, installed Magisk, then backed-up the boot partition with TWRP, extracted the boot image from the backup.... Maybe
If I root my phone using the magisk method, will I still be able to use Google play books to read my audiobooks I've purchased or does rooting break those features?

I wish there was more info in here. There isn't a lot of information on prerequisites etc. I've had a hundred android phones an the process to root is different in all. Do I need to unlock the bootloader first, and is it only certain buildnumbers that this works for?

out of those 100 android phones.
90 of those phones would need
bootloader unlock
custom recovery
flash Magisk or Super SU in custom recovery
10 of those phones would need
bootloader unlock
flash pre-rooted boot.img
also, if you had searched you would have found this.

I'm not sure that I'd say 90, over the past few years I've had Suzanne of phones and I haven't had to mess with the bootloader. My question still remains unanswered. I'm not finding prerequisites for these mods and if 8.1 is compatible and needs certain build number. Not looking to brick my new phone which seems to be common in the Moto x4 section.

Basically any device compatible with kingroot, and some newer devices who's bootloader cannot be unlocked. That's why they make workarounds.

install TWRP

works with all moto x4 as long as you can unlock the bootloader.

Way to put the entitled little prick in his place. I never ask questions because I can find the answer with a Google search every single time. I am a pretty good (semi-ethical) hacker and a great pot grower because of Google and the multitude of repeat, "dumb", and actually really useful questions asked by lazy rich kids. I consider guys that respond as you did to be a sort of forum vigilante. Munchy cool is cool with me.

PA6 ROM for A6
Just so you guys know, this is only stock ROM with barely any edits. I just made it flashable... and added screen recorder
Oh and, please read the following:
I want to make something clear. If you have not read this and this allow me to summarize
Pie brings new locks to the table, something far worse than rmm lock. If you flash Pie officially, either via OTA or via Odin, these new locks will prevent you from rooting, as I understand it.
The workaround is to flash Pie but with Oreo BL.
BUT
We don't know how long that will keep working
Samsung can easily make Pie only boot with Pie BL.
So... for now... DO NOT UPLOAD YOUR BOOTLOADER TO PIE YET OR YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ROOT OR FLASH CUSTOM BINARY ANYMORE!
And this is where this zip comes in handy!
This ZIP will not change your BL (it will keep your Oreo BL). You still have TWRP to backup and restore, how awesome is that?
So, you have been warned!
Code:
Your warranty is now void.
* We are not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about flashing this zip file
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at us for messing up your device, we will laugh at you. HARD!
Features!
Stock in flashable form
Deodexed (only apps, framework remains odexed)
Heavily debloated
Very Optimized
Modded Screen record
And stock A6 stuff
Bugs!
Probably none since its just stock, but please report any
Changelog!
27/06/19: Release
Links!Google Drive
Instructions!-Create full backup before trying
-Wipe system, data, cache and dalvik
-Install ZIP via TWRP
-Let it boot for aprox 20 minutes
-Complete setup

FAQ
[Q] My phone is stuck in bootloop/infinite boot, what should I do?
[A] It is normal for first instalation to take aprox 10-20 minutes on first boot, let it sit for a little bit
[Q] Even after 20 minutes, my phone is still in a bootloop/infinite boot, what can I do?
[A] It is possible that your previoius Android setup is conflicting with this new setup. Please, do the following:
1. FORMAT DATA (not WIPE, FORMAT!)
2. Try the instalation of PA6 again
[Q] I've found a bug, what should I do
[A] Please read the "Bugs" section of the thread to see if your bug has been reported, if it hasn't, please let me know exactly what the problem is so I can take a look
[Q] Something bothers me and I want it fixed/changed
[A] Please, kindly make a request and if it's within my grasp, I'll try to fix it. Just, don't be rude and demand something. Either that or return to stock, your choice

This was because there was KG state on Pie Bootloader. If you read the OP, check the links there which explains the situation with RMM and KG locks and stuff. So if you want Pie BL, you should do the following:
->You need Oreo BL
->Flash TWRP
->Flash ROM
->Flash RMM bypass 3 by corsicanu
->Flash Pie BL
->Boot to ROM
