Where were you yesterday when I had to fish through dead links to find this!!
Thanks!! :victory:

Alternatively, the latest version can also be found at the 'Clockworkmod' rom manager page.
To install this version you need a terminal emulator program and SU access.
Code:
sudo su
[I]<grant access if asked>[/I]
dd if=[I]<path to>[/I]/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p22
NOTE: Be careful about the part after 'of='. Any typo can cause you to wipe out or permanently brick your phone.

I have an even newer version of cwm in one of my Rom threads. I believe it's cwm 6.0.4.5. Also have twrp 2.7.0.0 in my thread you'll find it in the android development section. They are both flashable zips.
Sent from my HTC One Max using Tapatalk!

Awesome thanks! No more error 7 haha. (Too lazy to dig through threads for newer version)

[Q] CWM on Photon

Hey everyone,
I've successfully flashed CWM/unlocked my photon via LokiFish's excellent thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20331623&postcount=6
My question is, since I've payed for CWM in the past, can I download the update and flash newer versions or is the recovery-red-photon the only one the phone can successfully support?
Thanks in advance!
Official version doesn't work right. Actually, jokersax's version works great. You'll find a link to his site in his cm9 thread in the development section.

Jokers recovery is a flashable zip you can flash in cwm, then reboot recovery and you're set. Both work great, but if you plan on using the aroma installer that is available for some of the ics builds, you'll need jokers recovery to take advantage of the touch-based aspect of that. Otherwise, you can navigate through the installer with the volume keys and select work the camera key.

there is no premium version of clockworkmod recovery, there is rom manager and rom manager premium.. and depending on the device that may or may not be worthwhile...
i myself prefer goo manager, its free for everyone, donate 10 bucks and you get lifetime membership to skip the 10 sec wait. they provide free hosting to devs for roms, if the roms are setup properly they will show up in the goomanager app and when there is a new version will prompt users of that rom .
but yea there is no premium version of cwm, the difference between rom manager and rom manager premium is you can download certain roms (usually just the cm7/9 nightlies for official devices, ergo no impact on the photon..)

I know you can use the version of cwm it flashes in order to flash jokers recovery zip. Then you don't have to fastboot a recovery file. Beyond that, I've never really bothered with it.

Thanks for that! I've seen all the.goo utls but didn't know about all that.
rom manager
I downloaded rom manager and it does support the photon and has for awhile. When choosing to flash recovery through rom manager it picked up the photon no probably. So to answer the questions it does work and support the photon 4g. Now if we can just get Koush to make a clockworkmod touch recovery for the photon it will be all good.

[RECOVERY] CWM 6 Alpha Touch recovery

Koush is giving the world access to his buildbot to test out the new version of CWM. So I decided to give it a whirl. Offers incremental backups making them much smaller and faster.
This is for ICS ROMS only
*please note that I know that I am NOT a real dev. I just figured out how to run his buildbot and got it working on my phone.
Build Details
Download Recovery
*usual disclaimer that I am not responsible for you bricking your phone*
To install
1. Download file to your computer
2. In command line, navigate to the folder you have the recovery
3. Reboot phone into fastboot
4. "fastboot flash recovery recovery-CWM-6.0.0.0-ruby.img"
5. "fastboot reboot"
6. Reboot Phone into recovery as normal
Anyone test it as yet other than you? Would be cool to see this in action, good post, many of those who wanted CWM will love you for it, lol.
As far as I could tel I was the first to build a ruby version. I just pulled the 5.0.2.8 CWM and used that as a base and had it build a touch version. I tried getting it to use the stock recovery but the only one I could find was from the all-in-one toolkit and it built, but the recovery had trouble mounting points so I didn't upload it here.
I've always been a fan of CWM but that's prolly mostly because that's what I familiar with. I've used it since my G1.
So it can flash kernels???
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using Tapatalk 2
It was built off of 5.0.2.8 so I would have to guess that you would have to be S-OFF to flash kernels. I am S-OFF and am the only one I know of running it.
Why is it only able to flash ics roms?

This is based off of Koush's new 6.0 CWM. It has incremental backups instead of the doing the entire ROM each time. That is the biggest advantage to me.

FINALLY, A FRICKING RECOVERY THAT JUST WORKS.
Jesus, I tried every recovery I could find.
I'm not mentally impaired, so I do understand (and preffer) to use fastboot, and all other recoveries either required a download of an app to do the work for you or they just plain wouldn't boot (I'm looking at you, EXT4 touch binary...)
Plus it's well documented and it's a real developer friendly recovery, not so user oriented. I love it.

or you can just flash the 4EXT recovery image from my toolkit. That is another way. 4EXT wants the app installed so it can tell you about updates and let it update by itself.

[Q] TWRP Advice

Apparently Voodoo OTA doesn't keep root now with the official JB update?
(I've been using my Nexus7 for a while hence why I am just now coming back to my TF201)
Now I guess it's time to unlock /re-root and flash a custom ROM.
So before I continue on with any unlocking / rooting, I want to make sure I have the correct file (http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/tf2...1.1-tf201.blob) for my device so I don't brick it.
My Build number on my device is JR030c.US_epad-10.4.2.18-20121122
Is the above TWRP file the correct image for my build#?
Thanks all.

Your link isn't complete.
I can tell you tho that you are on the Jellybean Bootloader so get this http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/tf201/openrecovery-twrp-2.4.1.0-tf201-JB.blob
So the TWRP build number doesn't have to match the build number of my device?
I think that is where I was getting confused..... The build number of the TWRP is just the "version number" of the TWRP file?

You should be fine..
When you go into fastboot mode it will freeze on the prime screen. That is normal.
You will probably have to install universal naked drivers from the Dev section then in device manager if you have an unknown device before continuing.
I've successfully installed TWRP.
I had no freezing issues and the driver got installed by windows update (of all things?)
Running a backup now in TWRP and placing it on SDCard before I go any further.
Again, huge thanks.

Dev Edition: Rooting, Roming and Recovering

A few of us purchased the Dev Edition and it appears there are some things where clarification is required concerning the three "R's":
1. Rooting: I understand this wonderful rooting exercise is successful: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2290798. I would think since the Dev Edition is unlocked, an owner would only utilize Step 3, and NOT the kernel exchange section. Correct?
2. ROMing: Since the ROMS were created using the Loki enabled system, does this affect ROMing the Dev Edition since it is already unlocked? What does a user need to do? Or, does it not matter? Do the Loki enabled ROMS work on a Dev Edition?
3. Recovery: Again, it appears TWRP and CWM are Loki adjusted, so does this affect recovery on the Dev Edition and restoring? Also, is there a Stock Factory Image which will NOT turn the phone back to a locked bootloader? Or, does the one which exists OK to use?
I only ask these questions since a few of us are somewhat confused.
Thanking you in advance!

I've been thinking about buying the Verizon S4 Dev Edition phone, but have been hesitant due to not knowing how simple it would be to root. Is it as simple as just running MotoChopper? Or is there a better way?
Being that the bootloader on this phone is truly unlocked, can you install the current versions of CWM or TWRP that are LOKI enabled, and will it work on this phone? I haven't seen any compiled versions that were non-loki (standard).
Same question goes for kernels too.
The first batch of Dev phones sold out in less than 24 hours, so I'd expect some of the people that have them would start posting their experience with it here soon. At least, I hope so!
Root failed when just applying the Motochopper step! It says it installs correctly and then it reboots and SuperSu is installed and then I checked for an upgrade which it took. However, it says it cannot install binary, there is a problem and closes.
I uninstalled SuperSu and tried a few times to root again but it doesn't work.
My phone states:
Kernel Version: 3.4.0-562219 dated May 15th
Build Number: JDQ439.I545OYUAMDK
Baseband: I545OYUAMDK
Must be something we can do....

It sounds like it. But wouldn't swapping kernels render the Dev Edition to a retail version? Kinda defeats the purpose, no? Or, am I missing something?
The question is: Does the Dev Edition have the same kernel as the Retail Edition? If so, then it would make sense to swap kernels. I think we need the devs to weigh in.

From what I've been able to gather, Samsung has put in place a SetUID restriction on the stock release kernel via CONFIG_SEC_RESTRICT_SETUID. Apparently the D2 prerelease kernel doesn't have this restriction in place. That seems to be why flashing that is required prior to using MotoChopper to gain root. What I can't figure out is why you can flash the release DK afterwards and still keep root?
On the T-Mobile and Sprint S4 they've been able to remove the SetUID restriction on their latest DL release kernel by recompiling the kernel source with the SetUID restriction commented out
Thanks for the thoughts and analysis. Hopefully someone will find an alternate
root method for the dev edition since it has been available for a week and it sold out in less than twenty four hours, somebody with know how must have purchased it and is tinkering as we speak.
I would hate to render it back to a retail version otherwise.

I think I may have found a solution. With the Developer Edition we have an unlocked bootloader, so there is no need to use loki. I was looking for a non-loki patched (normal) recovery that could be flashed in Odin. I think I found one here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2322675. Look for the "Latest version can be found here" link, not the "loki patched" link. The filename is : Philz_touch_5.06.6-jfltevzw.tar.md5
If this works like it did in previous unlocked Samsung devices, then we should be able to flash the custom recovery in Odin, and then boot into recovery afterwards to flash SuperUser. From there, we're rooted.
If I had my dev edition S4, I'd test it out myself. But I'm still waiting for them to get back in stock!
Great..am somewhat game to try. Well report back. Thanks!!

However, I can't update binary for root.

Did you flash SuperSU from recovery via the zip file? (from this thread) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053. Look for the UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.41.zip file in the download section.
This should give you root after flashing in recovery! If you can't get root in a root app after flashing this file, then the kernel is blocking root. You can thank Samsung for adding that in the DK kernel.
You can easily work around this by flashing a custom kernel!
Let me know how it goes.

Good question. From what I have seen thus far, the recovery is the piece that has to be Loki adjusted to allow it to be flashed on a locked bootloader. I don't think the ROM cares one way or the other. The only thing I still have questions about is the kernel. Is the kernel in the Developer Edition different than the carrier version?

If we could get an MD5 of the Developer DK kernel (boot.img), and compare it to the MD5 of a completely stock DK kernel (boot.img). Or maybe compare the kernel build numbers? I dunno, just throwing some ideas out.

I'm am totally new to the process of kitchens and making roms. This is my first release on this project and will release debloated and other combinations as i have time. Please enjoy and report any issues. I will try my best to help in any way.
Now for the rom and instructions.
Typical disclaimer as always, I am not responsible for any damaged caused by flashing custom software period. If you have gotten this far then you completely understand the risks involved with "flashing" custom software (ROMs). Flashing this ROM will void your warranty and trip knox.
Again this is for the T-mobile S5 G900T. Stock for the most part. Its rooted busybox deodexed and init.d support. I have replaced the stock kernel with The Imperius Curse Kernel 6-20 by @ShinySide. Edited homescreen pages. There is only one Homescreen page by default. If you need screens and widgets just add them. Removed NFC icon and removed sfinder and quick connect from pulldown menu. International Boot animation and sound. All apps in system/app & system/priv-app updated as of 7/23/2016.
You need custom recovery installed to proceed. I use TWRP, have not tested on CWM.
You need to be on a 6.0.1 bootloader! I tested on the PE1 bootloader and had no issues but i recommend a full update to PG2.
EDIT Odin flashable PG2 bootloader and Modem tar download link below
If you do not have a custom recovery installed then please go herehttp://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-galaxy-s5/general/root-how-to-root-sm-g900t-firmware-t3358190 then continue below.
Download ROM and move to root storage of phone. ExtSDcard or internal sd
Reboot to TWRP and tap wipe then advanced wipe and check boxes 'Dalvik/ ART cache' 'System' 'Data' and 'Cache' then swipe to wipe. Do this 3 times just to be safe. If you moved the rom to phone storage DO NOT WIPE Internal storage as you will delete the rom you just downloaded.
Go back to the main menu in TWRP and tap install, choose rom and swipe to install.
After install is complete reboot and wait around 15 minutes for boot to complete.

Here ya go if you haven't already gotten them.
I have strange problem with this ROM, hope anyone can help. After installation, I can't use adb any more. "adb devices" shows the devices is unauthorized, and under "Developer options", there is no button for "Revoke USB debugging authorizations". There is also no USB key fingerprint confirmation window.
Is it just me or the ROM?

It's actually a Kernel issue and not sure ito has been updated. Flashing another kernel will fix your issue. I will update the op and possibly link another kernel.
Can anyone post the PG2 modem and new bootloader

I can confirm by flashing back the stock kernel the problem is fixed. Still look forward to the new ROM. Thanks!

I broke it lmao
Be updated soon though. Have the source to G2, and for some reason Samsung supplied their own toolchain in the source (which I've never seen) so been screwing around with it.

Been looking all over for it on the Googles. I'm on CM 13 / GPE1 and don't want to flash over my current ROM.

I've been looking into how to make a bootloader/modem flashable thru Odin but can't find any reliable up to date guides. If anyone knows where I might look to start I'm very sure I could make it, just need guidelines on how to begin.

Everything except system.img, cache.img, boot.img and recovery.img. So full upgrade beside those 4 items.

How's the debloated version coming along? I can't wait to try it out. Thanks for your hard work!
Flashed this rom. Everthing is running great, thank you. I was wondering if anybody has the stock kernel in a zip format?
