Hello everybody!
Ever since I bought this phone (Pixel 6) the assistant has never worked. Considering this is a Google phone, one would assume it would work no issue but joke is firmly on me!
I have been researching and have seen mixed messages from many websites where some users have the issue, others no issue! I have seen some people say to reinstall the Google App (tried this, didn't work) and other people said to completely restore to factory which I don't want to considering the hassle of getting everything back in order.
Does anybody have anything else I might be able to try?
Thanks in advance

I have seen this happen with a different launcher installed. It happen with me using Nova launcher back in the beginning of using the P6. Nova fixed the issue a week after people complained.

No the Browser should not block it.
But since you brought up the Brave Brower.
Did you disable Chrome?
I think the assist only works with Chrome. I am not a100% sure.
I am going to step aside and let someone else help. I really am just guessing at this topic.

I didn't disable it, I just never used it.
I did open it just now and tried to use the assistant with it and it didn't crash immediately. You might be on to something.
Maybe I am missing something though, if it was a browser based issue, why would that impact my ability to open say Spotify or "check the weather".
Maybe it's some other Google system/service I am after breaking?

I use Duck Duck Go browser.
I have tried the Brave browser a few months back for a short time.
Side note; I use Brave browser on my pc, because edge gives me trouble with networking for my smarthome devices and nas.
I am also having this issue after rooting and modding a few things. Reverted the changes but I am still having the issue. Updating Google App and downloading Google Assistant doesn't seem to do the trick either. Anyone with some insight into the issue know what's going on?
quick update - I installed Alexa to see if that would work, and it too doesn't appear to like me
Starting to think its a service based issue instead of a particular app.
Anybody who has guidance please chime in
Are you completely stock, no custom rom, kernel, Magisk mods?
Alexa will increase your four letter vocabulary to a new level.
Do you have the assistant set to more than 1 language? For me having the assistant set to English and dutch causes it to constantly.
I figured out for me it was dozing google play services
so, update on this. Firstly, I only have it using the one language.
Secondly, I got an update yesterday for the google app from the playstore and it appears to have fixed whatever the problem was!

I don't know if I'm the only one with this problem but I've had it on all 3 of my Android phones and it is annoying to the point of rage.
Whenever you search for an app in the Android Market, click on one and realize its not the one you wanted, you click back but then the scroll position gets reset and you're at the top of the search results. This is even more particularly annoying whenever you look through your previously installed apps on the Android Market and try to re-install some. Its not fun having to scroll 5 pages each time.
Has anyone found a workaround for this? I would be willing to pay for a fix or patch.

Hello friends,
I wanted to alert everyone regarding what I discovered.
After latest firefox update I found out that-
Whenever I run Firefox app, it also runs Facebook app and facebook messenger.
Here is how I tested-
1) Kill the Facebook & Messenger totally by using the Force Stop option. For better, also Force Stop the Firefox .
2) Run Firefox again, and then check both the Facebook apps. You will see both the Poop-bags run back from the grave.
How? Why? I guess Firefox is sold out to Facebook too.
Now they are tampering the core too.
Yes I tried these steps, 3 times while writing this topic, to make sure whether my suspicion is valid or not. Yes it does exactly what I said.
Any one knows, how to stop this? (I know the solution some of you might give- Uninstall the Facebook apps.) . But before doing that
lets alert everyone and find out the solution, because this time Firefox is involved(sold out).
Which app permission should I disable to prevent this? (I am using Xprivacy, permission pro, app settings).
android 4.4 , Samsung 10.1 .
Thank you.
Anyone, noticed this? and know any solution?
You're accusing the Mozilla Foundation of possible illegal behavior. You'll need more than the odd behavior of one device to convince me.

Hello,
I am not here to accuse, I am here to get solution.
I use firefox since years, because of trust. But what I noticed after recent update is evident.
I have checked this several times. I mean everyday, before I run Firefox on my android tablet, I check which apps are running in the background. I kill them if they are there. Then I run firefox and check the running apps immediately. There you see Facebook+messenger, sitting in the background like thieves.
Did you try what I am saying? You will notice its not the "odd behavior of the device". but its the "obvious behavior of Mozilla Firefox".
You will see the same with Spider Solitare. Facebook is Targeting popular apps, or rather possibly Commissioning them.
What more should I test to check or prove that, or prevent that? is there any log or something that I should show here?
Thank you for reply, see you soon.
A lot of apps does that...
Even system apps..
Ex. In Samsung device's when you receive sms, Viber will also run..
When you use Camera, Gallery will run..
I think Firefox is using Facebook services, so if you use Firefox to log in facebook it will also sync.. not sure.
Separate note
Though im wondering that why its banned in XDA

As being banned means that it doesn't get mentioned. As for why. Because it's used to rip off devs, making it warez which xda is against.
As for the OP. Run a log cat and see what it is calling. This user maybe right. With everything so connected these days it is not odd for one app to start a service of another app.

This is the accusation. The Mozilla Foundation is registered as a tax-exempt organization under US law and as a charitable trust under California law. Selling out to Facebook jeopardizes that standing.

Ohh... what is banned/or not being mentioned, on XDA ? The firefox?
What does OP means?
I already sent them email. I also used the option they give "take a moment to tell us ........" thing.
I came here because its obvious activity that I am seeing everyday, and if they are involved, they wont give any solution. You people only can.
And, login using Firefox is totally different than the Facebook apps login. Not related. I am sure this activity is no where near to helping us.
Do you know any Xposed framework module, or something that will prevent this from the root?
See you. thanks again.

Woww,
this is getting serious. Every popular app Spider solitare, Etsy, ESfile explorer are sold out! Their latest updates are starting services for Facebook. Woww!!
The Greenify and xprivacy mods given by users, isnt working.
Seriously needs a solution for this. Anyone?
I thought it's because Facebook is just set up to run all the time? You kill it and it'll restart on its own, regardless of whether you start up other apps or not.

It is. To be honest there is not much that can be done. Mainly with android M new feature of allowing all apps to check for root and disable features or the app if root is detected.

Hello, hey no. (I guess you are a non-root user). Actually I removed Facebook from the root with the help of Titanium backup and installed it as a user app again. I have also removed its startup. It never starts by itself. Until i updated these popular apps. Now they are rigging even more apps. I know, I keep checking the running apps through ForceStop it or app settings. And I have tried several times, when I run these few mentioned apps I immediately go check the running apps again. There the facebook rise again.

Hello everyone!
I have been using Nova Launcher Prime for many years now, and for the first time I am getting against an issue which drives me nuts.
I currently own two Huawei devices (P10 Lite and Mate 10 Pro) and both of them seem to have issues when using widgets on Nova.
I know stock widget may not work on Nova, but I am simply trying to import and use what I have always used in the past years: google widgets (calendar, home) + provider widget and so on.
None of them seem to work flawlessly: some of them won't load at all or display in a corrupted way (at any size), some others just keep saying "loading" and never load their data (such as google calendar or any other calendar).
I don't have any clue. How can I solve that?
Thank you in advance.
stock calendar says loading for me when switching between privatespace and regularspace. i started using google calendar instead and it works fine.
shame huawei cant get their own apps working on their own devices lol
The point here is that i am having the same issue with any widget/calendar.

At least I’ll stop getting crazy...
I updated to today's OTA and now I only get headlines in Google now.
When I swipe left I see all the articles with only the headline and a photo. No short summary.
The "more articles" section it's not affected.a refresh or system restart does not change
anything.

It seems I should refer to it as "Google feed" now. No-one else has this issue?
The S9+ is not rooted. Some things were removed after I bought it using ADB, but that has been some time ago. I had at least 2 OTA's since. This happened after I accepted the last OTA (of this weekend).

Hi... I was referring to the OS OTA of last weekend.
The link you gave me is indeed what's happened to me. Thanks!!!
The new problem I'm facing now is that I'm now somehow tangled in a Samsung account which I refuse to make.
Maybe i need to remove that wallpaper manager to get one that is not linked to Samsung.
If I can't find that I'll be back.
Many thanks
EDIT:
I removed Samsung themes and installed some other app and my feeds have returned
Hey XDA!
I have this unique problem where my phone refuses to install anything outside the Play Store. Manually downloaded APK will not install, updates from System App Updater also will not install. Anything from MI Store will also not install.
Apps from the Play Store install just fine.
I've checked every single setting that could cause this. Only thing I haven't tried is a Factory Reset.
Please advise.

I would think that you have set another app to install apks, like firefox, and that app is failing or has failed following the update. See what apps can install apks and see whether the app has the right permissions in settings. If necc remove the app and reinstall. OR - there is a setting under Security which has to be enabled for unkown sources. Perhaps the 10.3..7 update has reverted the status of this setting?
All settings are in their default state.
I reset app preferences, unknown sources is also enabled. This problem is preventing even Xiaomi from installing its own apps. I cleared data of package installer. As I said above, I tried EVERYTHING.
Any thing from the Play Store installs and updates just fine. Anything else gets stuck at the "Installing" screen and then twenty minutes later says... "Xyz App failed to install."
I have plenty of space.
Phone is pure stock.
For APKs you need an all installer app. Don't know why other apps do not install. I am on 10.3.7.0 Global Stable Rom stock locked bootloader and do not have any problems at all. Phone runs perfectly.

Warez - Illegally obtained or compromised software.
It is not a warez, its not a website with it. Its a tool, so how can It be banable, I don't I encourage anyone to use it so ban would be out of context. Also I am pretty sure no one would know What is L*** P******
can you try APKPURE ?
First of all, I appreciate all of your replies. But I am slightly annoyed that most of you either did not read what I typed or are suggesting I circumvent Android's built in protection just to get around a bug.
That is NOT a solution. Especially considering I'm the ONLY one facing this issue and that it isn't a wide spread one.
Regardless, as I've mentioned before, I'VE TRIED EVERY SINGLE LOGICAL THING POSSIBLE within my knowledge...
I eventually Factory Reset my phone.
And now everything is working as it should.
I have a feeling this problem arose because of either a bug with Xiaomi "Security" app or with the Xiaomi "Themes" app. But I'm not an expert. I've sent logs to Xioami through Feedback App.
I hope none of you face this issue.

You know you are being disrespectful. First of all this is a tech page/group/whatever. Have you seen most of the posts here? Most are about rooting, bypassing, etc. And you yourself have said that you have tried everything except doing a factory reset right? Well people are providing you solutions before doing that. If you have nothing good to say then just don't say it. Didn't your mom or guardian or whoever teach you manners?
If you didn't want to do anything like rooting or whatever, then right it down. Don't expect people to be psychics to know what you want. ??

Now, which part here did you say that we didn't read what you said? And which statement said that we disregarded "Android's builtin protection"? Are you alright? You do know that the security app is not a "builtin" android protection software right? That's Xiaomi. The only builtin security from Android are security patches and play protect, or didn't you know that? You said you tried everything, but aside from downloadinh apks, did you say from where you installed it? Did you install it using Chrome after downloading them? Did you ever try opening the apks from a file manager? Did you try turning off play protect? Or turning off the security scan toggle wherein it says "scan before installing"?
You said this is only your issue, yet you are annoyed at people giving you advice and options when you yourself never even mentioned whether you are rooted or if you didn't want to "turn off security".
Glad you solved your issue, but next time if you want specific advice note it down and don't be a jerk to people who only want to help.
I had this issue and solved it by using the original file manager instead of ES file manager.
