Hi,
so I've switched recently from Samsung S8, when using DeX mode quite often and today's tried EMUI Desktop for the first time from my new LYA-L09 (UK EE EMUI 9 version 122).
And was really disappointed seeing huge icons and big fonts, which almost renders EMUI Desktop useless. TV shows 1080p (same resolution as for S8, hub Ewayfa). Even tried to wipe cache and finally restored factory settings with no joy.
Also spoken to Huwaei UK support line and was advised there is incoming heaps of fixes within month.
Anyone having the same issue?
Thanks
i want to try it with the HP elite x3 Lap Dock. Can say more on saturday.
Did you manage to fiy it?

Same for me
Hi
It all seems to have started after updating from emui 8 to emui 9... It was not like that in emui 8
I agree. Happened to me immediately after I upgraded to EMUI 9. Having said that, when I FIRST plugged my HMDI into my device after the upgrade I had an option pop up onscreen. It asked me if I wanted small, standard or large Icons. Having zero point of refernce, I chose large. When I saw that this was clearly a mistake, I decided to go back and look for an option to try the other sizes to no avail. There was no way to retract that fateful first decision. Never saw that option pop up again-- not after a restart, not after trying 2 other monitors and a TV.
Hi, no changing that has no significant effect, to get that popup again right click on free desktop point, 'change size' or something similar.
I think the only way, at least for me knowing too few on how the desktop mode works and which system files it uses, is to make the customer care aware and hope in a future update.
Upgrading to EMUI 9 - lost 1080p on Desktop mode also

Hey.
This has been happening for a while, at first with Lineage OS (the last Oreo build before they stopped development), my phone had random shutdowns, GCam lagged a ton, demanding apps like Games or Photo editors (Cytus 2 or Snapseed for example) just didn't work right, they froze for a full 5 seconds, Social Network apps didn't work right either, I had to use Lite versions of their apps to make it less stressful to use.
I got back to MIUI but with Xiaomi.eu's ROM and I loved it, but it had some problems too, and I really hated that I wasn't able to experience newer androids, and I missed GCam a lot, so I went and Installed Pixel Experience, and it was laggy too, nearly unusable in every situation, it freezes at most of the apps I tried and it didn't work really well. Finally, I'm with Havoc OS, and I love it, but is UNUSABLE outside of a Wi-Fi network, when outside it doesn't just lags, it freezes, does random reboots, and also my headphone jack doesn't work so I can't even listen to music while having the phone on my pocket, it just does a blank noise when tapping some buttons.
I'm sick of my phone being too slow with every custom rom that I install, and I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, of I have some strange firmware or whatever it is, I don't know.
I have TWRP updated, I installed every rom on a clean state, wiping everything.
My phone is a kenzo 2GB variant.
Please help me, I really want to listen to music while browsing Instagram again, now I can't even do one of these things..

try LiquidRemix or go back to Oreo Rom
Hey mate. Try this Lineage OS 14 https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/development/rom-lineage-os-t3877377/
I also have 2GB variant of RN3Pro and I also tried so many roms that promise speed. But to be honest everything past Nougat is unusable. The combination of Google service eating tons of rams and the OS itself taking more space in your ram ended up costing a lot of performance.
That Lineage OS 14 is the current best for me, it supported a lot of new features (splitscreen, better GCam) while remains low in RAM usage. Good SOT too, still managed to squeze 5+ hours of SOT (but that's probably because my Radon kernel setting).

Pie getting 6+ of SOT very easily. I m using Crdroid with shadow. Now dev has provided xcrima and shadow kernel with default enabled 500mb + zram for 2gb ram. So its relief.
I was having the same issue, every rom didn't had a near good experience of use for me, so I started searching and I've found microg, which is an alternative for google apps, but using much less ram.
So what I did was installing nanodroid-microg, and one of the stores that comes with the package(in my case, Yalp Store, but according to their wiki, you can install google playstore also.), Now I have about 1gb ram free (I'm also using AppOps to block some app permissions like wake lock, run in background etc.), but I had some problems so I will show you what I did to install it and make it fully work.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/module-nanomod-5-0-20170405-microg-t3584928
Firstly you have to download two of their stable release packages, one is nanodroid-setupwizard and the other is the nanodroid-microg.
Then you will flash the rom you want, the kernel you want, magisk and finally both packages, first the setupwizard, then the microg package.
There's no secret when flashing setupwizard, it's a aroma package which will give you steps to choose what you want to install, I remember choosing swype libraries, microg (of course), Yalp Store (with fakestore), Google Map API and UnifiedNlp location backends (Mozilla and Deja'vu)
After that, just flash nanodroid-microg and then follow the tuturial below starting from step 15
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/guide-microg-oneplus-6-source-ligthway-t3874469
Obs: at step 25: if your push notification tester app show you a error related to incompatibility or unavailability of google play services, you probably need to enable signature spoofing on FakeStore like I had to, I'm using aex 7.1 rom so I don't know if the steps will be the same for you but what I did was: go to settings > apps > tap setting button on the top right corner > app permission > signature spoofing > tap three dots on the top right corner > show system > then enable FakeStore. After that try step 25 again and proceed.
I hope it helps you or anybody reading this which choose to install it. Enjoy and I'm sorry for any grammar mistakes.
Your best bet at speed is an old nougat ROM and a swap memory. Format ur internal storage before flashing.
I've installed aosp pie on 3gb and it's very good. Maybe 1gb ram does make a big difference. Choose light os like lineage or Nexus

just flash android pie pixel experience (go edition)
https://download.pixelexperience.org/kenzo/
If you want to stay on pie. Try ArrowOs pie. It's the most smooth pie ROM I found for my 2gb rn3p. However the ROM is no longer being updated.
Hey y'all! MIUI 12.5.1 OTA update is slowly rolling out for Poco X3 NFC Global users, but you can download it via Xiaomi directly and can manually install it.
Direct DL
WARNING: This is only for Global ROMs for the moment. Minimum version required is V12.0.1.0.RJGMIXM. If you have EU, IN, ID, RU, TR it won't work for you (especially IN aka karna).
Spoiler: How to install
Go to Settings
Click on About phone
Click on the top left gray box saying MIUI version
Tap on the 12 logo 7+ times to enable the manual updater
Click on the 3 dots on the top right

The update showed up on my notifs but was gone after I tapped it, thinking of going manual cause I can't wait. I'm coming from the buggy 12.0.1 A11, how's the overall performance and what about the memory management? Is it finally not as aggressive as before like what they promised with 12.5?
Is the split screen function back in this release?

Can anyone tell me if MIUI 12.5 has LHDC? I got a pair of Mi Air 2S and my girlfriend's Poco X3 Pro with MIUI 12.5 has it.

No it doesn't, I just tested it myself and it only supports up to AAC like usual. LHDC is in developer mode sure but it doesn't activate.
Hows the ram management? Is it still as aggressive as before? The official rom can't sync my 10k contacts because of aggressive ram management and google contacts app.
I tried the xiaomi.eu version and the whole rom was extremely laggy on 12.5.1. I reverted back to 12.0.9. immediately. Is it the same for official rom? Is 12.5.1. laggy?
Lastly, does anyone know if it's safe to install the Indonesian official rom on my Global variant phone?

I'm currently using 12.5.1 Official Global ROM. And I think it's terrible. I can open multiple apps without having to worry one will close even if it's a heavy game. BUT! The normal background apps that worked fine before 12.5 were restarting like crazy. Even the game turbo overlay in games gets closed while in-game (Genshin Impact). Most of the time the refresh rate randomly goes down to 60 or 90 when scrolling which is laggy to our eyes. And my only access to floating window is through game turbo.
I recommend sticking with 12.0.9 for now.

Thanks. Makes matters much clearer. Faced the same issue when I went to Xiaomi.eu 12.5.1. for a while.
If I read the right page, LineageOS never officially supported the Tab S3 and there don't seem to be any other official ROMs judging by this thread. Are there any stable and/or well maintained Android 10 or 11 ROMs for the SM-T820 worth abandoning the dated but stable stock ROM?
I tried a few - no real use.
back to stock.
after setting everything up from scratch, meaning no userdata or such, it felt a LOT faster than before.
What helped me a lot was removing all google play services (with link2sd, I just uninstalled everything with root) and switching to vanced youtube (so I still get to watch yt).
For google drive and such I can use the browser versions and now without a trace of google the tablet is a lot faster. I'm sure that properly set up microg wouldn't affect performance at all but I don't have the time to reset again. If I manage to do it some day I'll post a tutorial, and in the mean time someone else can try this method.

Giving my Google passwords to a 3rd party app doesn't feel good to me. I switched instead to watching YouTube on Firefox some time ago, with the ad blocker plugins. The only downside is that on mobile, after a video ends and the next loads, the video goes out of full screen.
As to removing bloatware, can the device be rooted without causing issues with Samsung's stock interface?
I noticed there's an official Pie release. Unfortunately, I don't think I qualify for normal OTA upgrade as I have a Wifi only tablet and no carrier. Also, this is a demo tablet not intended for sale, so additional lockouts might apply there.
Does anyone know if the official Pie upgrade should work with the demo model, and have any experience with the Android 9 firmware from Samsung?
At the moment I'm away from my PC so I can't flash isn't Odin. I'm kinda itching to get the upgrade on my tablet and wondering if there's a way to reliably flash without even a PC to root my tablet.

Eventually, I figured out how to flash a Wifi-only SM-T820 LDU (live demo model) from Android 7.0 to the last Android 9 firmware Samsung released for the model. A good upgrade and very stable.
My daily driver broke, so for the time being I have to use a 4X (mido). Didn't know in what state I left it before, so I just reverted everything to stock, so now I'm running a MIUI 8 (Android 6.0.2) and it's so bad ;/
I only use Twitter, Discord, Snapchat, Youtube and a browser. No games, nothing that demanding and yet the phone lags like crazy, applications crash when I switch them etc
How do I make the experience not as painful? What's the fastest ROM and kernel combination that would allow me to at least not get mad at how slow everything runs?
I don't think an octa-core 2 GHz CPU and 3GB of RAM should run as bad as they do now.
@deadstarlight
I'm still using it with stock MIUI and facing lots of lags and some apps can't be installed due to old Android.
Did you find a fast and stable ROM to use with this device ?
I have no experience with ROMs, root and all this staff!
The latest official LineageOS for microG is probably the best performing ROM for this device. But keep in mind that you will not have google services installed
