Oh, so without root no way to use VoLTE!

Not only volte but also 5G and vowifi are disabled if you are not on one of the few supported countries and operators. And while volte and vowifi can be force enabled with root 5G is totally out of the question for now. Send feedback via phone and write in pixel community forums about the issue. I hope that when there are enough complains they will unlock this basic functionality.

What's worse, I am seeing Google admin locking threads on this topic. FYI Singapore is one of the country they are selling the devices.

S21 HK eSim possibility

Hi there,
I've recently got the SM-G9910 HK version (TGY) and was wondering if there's any way to get eSim support? I'll be using this phone mainly in AT, however eSIM would be really nice.
Reading through various threads here I've learned that it might not be likely, unless changing the CSC which might imply certain "challenges" after it.
Any feedback / direction would be highly appreciated.
Anyway if this is the only "drawback" I might live with as the 888 SoC is more important to me than the current eSim support.
Thanks!
Just read a article on this, these phone already have it but not supported buy carriers yet. T-mobile might be the first to implement it though

Hi,
Yes, I've read the same, so far the Note 20 has been getting now the esim support with the latest update on t-mobile US => so there might be hope (definitely not a hardware issue).
However, according to Samsung HK live chat it's a hardware issue and thus not supported.
Let's see what future will bring this year.
It's somehow a disappointment to have this better SOC and no esim still
my s21 ultra is thru verizon. although we cant see the second imei number. they can see it. just call them ask for the second imei number registered with your phone. and then you can setup esim with another carrier. thats what i did. i have verizon as my main carrier and tmobile as the second on the esim.
@[email protected]: sounds like a great hack - would be interesting to see if others can confirm this outside of US?
I have Dual SIM on the 9910 - can imagine the second IMEI (which I can see) is just physical ? for an eSIM it would mean that either the device can bridge the IMEI for eSim or a 3rd IMEI would be required (which i doubt).
If you want I can Show you how to create a shortcut to enable mutilply sim. Sim1 and sim2. On the us s21 ultra version
actually, as I do have a HK version, with dual-SIM already enabled I would be rather interested in eSIM if there would be any way.
does your approach require root access?
Hi guys,
I also have a G9910 and I'd love to enable eSIM.
Have you had any luck so far?
Thanks,
Alex
Hi Alex - no luck so far - let's see if they'll ever do anything about this.

Question PIXEL 6 | 6 PRO INDIA WORKAROUND POSSIBLE?

Since I love Pixel phones, was just wondering if the experts here can guide me -
Q. Is there any way possible to get Pixel 6 | 6 Pro from USA and make it work here in India on local carriers eg- Jio ?
And also have all features working that are supported in USA.
Forever grateful to xda.
You all are awesome.
Hi...
Pixel 6 bandwidth are compatible with major Indian providers such as Jio,Airtel,Vodo,Bsnl etc.
Only hitch is as it is not sold in India service support may be missing. It is a calculated risk.
about bandwidth,You can check with the following USA store.

I have the Pixel 6, got from a friend who returned from the US. Jio and airtel are working fine. I am using Jio eSIM. No issues as of yet.

It's surprising that Axis Mobile app is crashing for me too. I'm not sure if it is because I am rooted. I did not test it on unrooted firmware.

Pixel 6 here and missing VoLTE. Vi SIM. Any leads guys or any workarounds?
Thanks!
Pixel 6 with Jan update here using Airtel. No issues with VoLTE & VoWiFi so far.
I haven't rooted yet. But I think there's a Magisk module workaround for what you're facing.

Question Any Chance to get 5g in un-supporting countries?

Hi All,
It's been a...while since my account registration on XDA. I was a huge WM user since then. I'm checking to see if there is any chances or any masters are modifying magisk for enabling 5G in un-supporting countries. I've been looking around seems no one is testing it. Just asking and following. Thank you.
Regards,
John
As far as i know there is no way to enable 5G in unsupported countries for now. For previous 5G pixels it was a matter of modifying some xml files but these used qualcomm chipsets and modem and here we have samsung modem so maybe it is not so easy. My advice is to do following things to try to force google to enable 5G:
1. Give feedback via the phone.
2. Reply in and upvote the threads with this issue in pixel community.
3. If you are within EU try to write to some EU institutions to explain them that google selectively unlocks 5G only for certain countries within EU which is discrimination as EU is one market.
I hope that this will have effect at some point forcing google to do the right thing and unlock 5G for everybody.

Question wifi calling / volte / 5g in unofficial countries

hey guys,
did anyone manage to get those option working? (wifi calling / volte / 5g) in any country other then the 12 official supported countries?
i'm living in the middle east and i got the us version of pixel 6.
these options are disabled here. it's an issue from google's side, as they worked for me on my previous samsung phone. network provider said there is nothing they could do about it.
Only by rooting you can enable VoLTE but don't expect 5g until 2026
Google is blocking both. VoLTE is possible by Magisk module, 5G isn't
i see... thank you for answering.
i'v filed a feedback to google anyhow, maybe they will consider it if many people will complain
I've found a thread with instructions for enabling 5G for Pixel 4/5. But we have Exynos modem in 6th generation so they are not working... Is it a big deal to change Samsung modem settings?
So how can i enable Wifi Calling and Volte with Magisk can anybody help me?
I used this one from this thread

That I'm not a developer (well, I was) and I only can collect money when I need it for developing (??) Honestly no idea, I'm confused as well, that's not a bounty anymore then, hackers get encouraged by money but we need to collect some..

What you are asking is illegal and stealing. That is why XDA closed your thread.
It is up to the cell carriers to enable 5g.
XDA and Google has nothing to do with it.
Also social media links are against the XDA rules.

XDA has nothing to do with it, sure, they literally have nothing to do with it.
but Google on the other hand, has lots and lots to do with it.
I for the billion percentages have 5G, i've checked on 2 phones, one has 5G, the other, not.(even talked and went to my carrier for triple verification)
The stupid phone will straight up not even take the risk to turn on the 5G modem while you're scanning for nearby cellular towers(try it on the "automatic select network", in the network(s)).
Go on your phone, open your phone dialer, input "*#*#4636#*#*" (without the quotes), now a menu should pop up named "Testing"(without pressing on the (to)PHONE icon), click on the "Phone information" tab, you should now see lots of information about your cellular and network connectivity, search for the "NR available", if it's False and not True, you cannot use 5G, the modem is locked by software, and who happens to be the developer for this Phone? Google. blame it on Google, they make these stupid discissions, and blame it on others, and continue on. Literally like any other company(plus minus)

Illegal is accusing someone of doing a crime without evidence. it's called defamation I guess.
No it's not up to the cell carriers, check previous Pixel forums.

Question 5G connectivity in non supported countries

Hi to all,
Well I bought the new pix6 just to find out that the connectivity to 5G network's is limited to supported counters end not to other countries beside the selected few.
Is there a way to enable 5G while keeping the phone unrooted? Coming from a M11i that in my area has 600-700Mbit/s coverage to the supposed king of Android that has barley 80Mbit/s is just disappointing. I'm in Croatia and the 5G here is in every activated in every single plan.
Thanks in advance.
Regards Goran
Ask your carrier to support the Pixel 6.
There is no way to enable it even with root unfortunately. Google locked it and they will not unlock it.

Do you have a link to support your statement?
Look at this:
5G on your Pixel
Check your 5G availability
pixel.withgoogle.com
If you choose other as country you see this:
At this time, unlisted countries have no selected 5G carrier networks that work with Pixel phones.
There also quite a lot of topics in the pixel community like this one discussing the problem:

Thanks for your reply.
But I do not see anything about Google being at fault.
I am just assuming that it is the government and carriers fault of said countries.
Well if the 5G phones of every other big android manufacturer like samsung, xiaomi, oneplus, motorola and so on are working great almost everywhere and pixels only work in select countries for me it is pretty clear who is to blame. In addition to that the modem inside is the same samsung modem used in the samsung s20 series and it clearly supports needed bands to work in much more than 13 countries in whole world. There are enough operators in europe present in several countries and using same equipment and bands in these like A1, T-mobile, Vodafone, Orange and so on. If it is operator's fault what is the logic phone to work from one side of the border and not from the other? To sum it up - if anything works in 100 countries and do not work in 10 you should check these 10 countries. If anything works in 10 countries and does not work in 100 it is device problem. I have not seen a single report from person in unsupported country who managed to activate 5G.
To add some history - older google 5G phones behave the same way. They are locked to support 5G in only certain countries. In these models though this is done via simple configuration files which can be edited if you have root. After that 5G works flawlessly in every country. Unfortunately for pixel 6 this does not work.

Danm Google not even Apple did **** like that...
take a look on Pixel5GBounty Telegram group, we're collecting money for anyone who would unlock 5G wherever the modem supports it. $290 for now
why is it that not even custom ROMs can't get the 5G working on "non-supported" carriers? Is it somewhere in the kernel? or what am I missing here? I'm android noob, so sorry if this is obvious... Thank you
I asked my provider about this 5g, and they told me that it's not the phone, but the provider that blocks the 5g connection.
My provider is fastweb, they also use windtre network in some areas. I have a 5g included plan, but I cannot have 5g connection.
They told me that there is a list of compatible devices, and this list is different from provider to provider. Simply, Fastweb has no intention to enable 5g on google pixel devices.
TIM is giving 5g to whatever device, but just for a short period of time (to sponsor their 5g network, I suppose).
Vodafone list of compatible devices is different from fastweb.
Iliad, also has a different list of compatible devices (Iliad gives 5g to pixel5)
So, no reason to blame on google...
well, I'm from Czech Republic, and I have Vodafone... Went to ask them about this issue, they told me they don't block 5G on any device, so if I have new enough SIM (I have e-SIM, so don't have to worry about that), the 5G should work, if the device supports it. Now since Pixel isn't officially available in Czech Republic, it's not working...
Getting 5G working on my Pixel would be good enough reason for me to start rooting and checking other ROMs again (last Android I rooted was I think KitKat ).

Same issue with T-mobile CZ. Said me that this is the problem of google, VoLTE working, nothing else. Have to say this is my last google phone.
It's very obvious google is whitelisting the carriers that they allow 5G access.
Pixel 6's 5G is unavailable on my carrier but it works with Google Fi sim roaming.
VoLTE is also disabled here. But I managed to just turn the switch on with root and it just works (with some extra battery drain)
And No. There's no way to unlock 5G on blocked carriers yet. Might be available in future if the bounty succeeds.
I contacted Google Support about one of the 5H networks in Ireland not being supported & they said they only support the networks listed here - https://pixel.withgoogle.com/5G/
Nothing that the network provider can fix. The support person told me to send feedback from the phone requesting support for the missing network which I do every week although I suspect I'm wasting my time.
There's also a very long thread on the Google support forum here.
Well, I've rooted mine and I'm squeezing the **** out of him right now, little rusty since I've done nothing for few years now ...but did find some articles about restricting and un restricting 5G inside Android 12 (https://developer.android.com/refer...rierConfigManager#CARRIER_NR_AVAILABILITY_NSA.) and related sub articles.
Worst case scenario it will finish in the garage, as for now garage it is.

Google does not care if you buy from them. The Pixel 6 is not sold in your country anyway.
It is your government and carrier that is at fault. Your rules and laws are stopping Google from selling in your region.

Here in the US, the FCC dictates if an electronic product can be sold.
Google is in the business to make money, they are not selling you there product for spite is Ludacris to think so.
