Smartphone not recognized by PC - Huawei P20 Lite Questions & Answers

Hello everybody,
as the title suggests my P20 Lite doesn't get recognized by PC. When I plug in the cable it only get charged. I've tried several ways to solve the problem but no one of them worked. What I did is:
- Used a different cable
- Used another operating system on my pc (Linux)
- Used different laptop
- Used differents usb ports
- I checked if everything was okay in developers setting: USB debug activated, Always notify for usb connections acitvated, USB configuration set to MTP
- I've gone into the "hidden menu" (dialing the code *#*#2846579#*#*), and selected differents USB Port Settings
Useless to say that HiSuite does not detect my phone, and neither does ADB. Also in windows device management it does not appear, netiher as uknown device. When i plug in the cable into the usb port of my pc, I dont get any notification on my smartphone (the one that let me choose if i want to transfer files etc..).
My phone informations are:
- Model: ANE-LX1
- Build Number: 9.1.0.401(C432E13R1P7)
Bootloader is unlocked.
In the last days it got updated to the latest version, so I've lost root permissions.
Thanks everyone that will help me =)

Hi,
on older Hisuite versions, it sometimes helped to connect the phone to the PC and reboot both together.
You can also try to reinstall FW via eRecovery & wifi.

I'm not sure, I didn't do it at EMUI 9.1. Don't have an unlock code?

The problem was the phone's usb connector, I'm gonna replace it =)

To fix this problem (Your Windows 7 PC Not recognizing your Galaxy S2)
1: Try another USB Cable (my original cable doesn't work, a generic one I had does)
2: My Computer Properties - Device Manager - Uninstall EVERYTHING from the Universal Serial Bus controllers list, then restart. - This fixed the issue for me, my external keyboard and mouse stopped working but I'm using a laptop and once I restarted everything works fine
3: Update your phone's baseband radio (I was on XXKI1 and my PC would only recognize my phone when I was using VillainROM, nothing else, until I updated the radio to XXKI4).

tried too but isn't really working..
What root method did you try?
I think you can try by type
*#9090# and select "via UART"
then type
*#7284# and select "UART MODEM" and "USB PDA"
Connect your USB cable and it will auto download the new driver to your computer.

sorry all.. finally fix the usb thingy.. i think the problem started with the update i download from samsung.. after i download the DZKJ2 firmware.. my pc unable to detect my phone.. now i switched back to DZKJ1 firmware and now its fixed.. though some function may lost but better than nothing.. thanks for your answer too

[Q] Help needed with USB Mass Storage problem

Morning all.
As of yesterday, my S2 won't connect to any pc in mass storage mode.
At first it connected as it should, but after about 5 minutes - before I'd transferred anything - I got a message that windows couldn't recognise the device/driver installation unsuccessful.
Since then I get this message immediately, have tried 4 different pcs.
Would seem the USB drivers are FUBAR somehow, but MTP via Kies works, as does Odin.
I've tried a full factory reset/reinstall, previous backups - stock and custom - removed, reinstalled and updated Kies, cleaned the USB port on the phone - nothing doing. Have tried stock kernels, Siyah, Nimphetamine - nothing. Currently on XWKL1, custom ROM (krinyo's SlimROM) with Siyah 2.6.3+
Also tried uninstalling various USB ports on my home pc, but stopped when I discovered it was the same on all pcs.
It's not the end of the world - I have bluetooth and my microSD - but it's a PITA and I'm out of ideas.
Many thanks for any help/suggestions.

Yes, forgot to add that, sorry. Tried with and without, no difference.
Tried changing the usb cable?
From another post
Dear All
Following are my observations and possible steps to
1. When the phone is upgraded to Android 2.3.4 and above (mine is 2.3.6) Kies stops recognizing the phones and USB connection / Serial port connections etc get reset on the phone
2. Even if proper drivers are there on the laptop (mine is Windows 7 64bit) they are not recognized
3. Device Manager shows "unknown device"
4. Updating the driver also does not result in any help
5. solution lies in the phone
a. key in the dialer *#7284#
b. it has 4 option there..
UART (MODEM/PDA)
USB (MODEM/PDA)
c. For USB. select the PDA.if it already selected to PDA. reselect it by select MODEM and then PDA again.. Only change the USB setting.. andthen press back. try reconnect (thanks to napi1 @ androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s2-international/447145-sgs2-kies-not-syncing-os-2-3-5-a.html#post3484588)
6. The Laptop will start recognizing the required drivers and install them

Bugger me, it was the cable....
Bought a new S2 yesterday - nice to have a backup, and the Nexus is meh - and tried the new cable on old S2, everything fine. Old cable on new S2, no good for USB but fine for Kies and Odin as mentioned before.
No idea why it should be like this, but sh*t happens. Easiest solution is often the best!
same problem happened to me too

Hi,
It happened with me too, and there is nothing wrong with the device, its fine.
My friend told me this,
update your Kies software to the latest version, then close the Kies. i mean the kies application should not be running.
Then connect the device and wait for sometime, till the message appears -- MTP connected.
Then open the Kies application, and let the Kies to identify the device.
If it says some error, like device not recognized, then there is an option to debug the connectivity.
Try that option too.
It'll connect surely, but you should be patient.
I think, its the problem with Kies software. I use it only to update the Android firmware. But now, I'm on Custom ROM, so this Kies is no more required for me.
Regards,
Hereticnine.

Lets assume I wanna simply connect it as mass storage. shouldn't the device be idetified ? I mean it's as if the PC OS doesn't recognize it at all
As if it wasn't even attached to the PC.
EDIT: It doesn't recognize the device on debugging mod either

Correct. Even without Samsung USB drivers installed your PC (I guess running Windows) should show a reaction. At least the PC should report an unknown device.
Maybe you should try installing the drivers manually? Not sure if it's gonna help but might as well try, right?
If that doesn't work either maybe you should try contacting the one you got the phone from. Maybe there's something wrong with the particular device.

OK, one last option. Can a Faulty ROM instillation cause the device not to connect to my PC?
Other than that I guess I should get a replacement for my device.

[Q] Mouting issues (MTP)

Hi guys!
I have a rooted international Galaxy S3 (i9300) phone with a custom rom: UltimaRom (version 8.x), and using XXELLA kernel (?) and XXELLA Modem version.
Since a while, I'm trying to manage the files in it (phone memory or sd card) from my computer, simply by using an USB cable (the one given with the phone or even other cables, it doesn't matter) and the standard MTP protocol, which is used by Google since Android 3.0. And, whatever I try to do, Windows doesn't seem to notice anything. In my device manager, nothing appears. Nothing either in the "My Computer" window, it just doesn't "exist". No reaction at all from Windows. The Phone's charging, but this is all it is.
And I have the same problem using another computer (like my own laptop, or my brother's one). All computers are running Windows 8 x64 Pro.
I tried to install, re install, delete, etc. all the phone drivers I have on this computer, tried to install Samsung Kies, tried some "mounting" apps on the Play Store, nothing's working.
What should I do to make it work?
Thanks a lot!
Might be stating the obvious but is your phone set at usb debugging? I have the same issue from time to time but when I unplug and plug back it fixes itself.
Hope you get your stuff fixed soon.

That's odd.. I use Ultima ROM and have updated to 8.1.1. I just checked just to make sure (my last update was done OTA) and yeah, computer recognized phone right away.. heard a little computer sound and everything. I am also running Windows 8
The base changed in v8. If you haven't done a fac reset since then you should try that.
Ok I just tried to make a factory reset, nothing changes...
Oh, and if that can help: when the phone's booting, Windows says "Unrecognized device". When it's booted up, it disapears.
Anyone ?

- How do I connect via ADB ? I tried to connect the phone while it is in Download Mode, nothing appears on Windows or Odin
- As I said, in Download Mode, Odin doesn't seems to recognize anything...
And of course, I already tried to change the cable, the USB port, or even the computer i'm connecting the phone to...
Thanks again for your help
Starting to sound like a damaged micro USB port on the phone possibly, or a driver's problem
Oh, and there's a thing: when I reboot the phone, while the Samsung logo appears on the screen with the short jingle, the PC makes 3 or 4 times a sound like something has been plugged, and showes a "Unrecognized device" warning window. When the boot is finished, and the rom is loaded, everything just disappears and no sound is any longer made by the PC.
Also, please note that when I connect the phone to the PC (using the same PC, cable and USB port of course), the phone charges up just like before, without any problem.
have you tried the old drivers?
search Google for " Samsung USB drivers 1.4.6.0 "
disconnect your computer from the internet
Install the drivers.
don't reconnect to the internet.
connect your phone and let windows find the drivers

Android Stuck in Charging only mode - No connection to computer

Hello Everyone
I am putting my problem in this general section with the hope to ask for help to more people compared to the Mate 8 section where not a lot of people go these days.
Since a while I am not able to connect my phone to a laptop. If I connect it to a laptop it just starts charging but nothing else. I have tried everything like:
Changing Cables (tried more than 5. I dont have the original anymore)
Changing Laptops
Changing the USB port of the phone itself
Updating Drivers
Installing Hisuite (current version 5.0.3.300)
Restore phone to factory settings
Complete formatting
Updating to the latest version (Current version Nxt-L29C185B582)
Changing the USB debugging/ Connection (MTP/PTP/etc)
And what not
The problem is, it doesnt get detected on the computer and cant connect to adb as well. All I want is to unlock bootloader and Install TWRP and Magisk. I have the unlock bootloader code but no way to unlock it since I cant connect.
Can anyone help me in fixing this stupid problem ? It is getting frustrating. If there is a hardware issue, what part needs to be replaced? Any help would be appreciated.

Go to the Settings of your phone---> About phone----> Build number tap this 7 to 8 times-----> Developers option is enabled----> back to settings ----> go to developers option ----> enable USB debugging.
When you connect to the phone to the laptop you will find an icon on top of the screen of your phone with a USB mark "like a trident", pull down the top menu and find the USB connection tab, (like changing the sim card if you intend to call through a specific card) e.g quoted, double tap the USB tab to obtain options ---> 3 options 1) MTP 2)PTP 3) USB charging only----> select the first option MTP (Media transfer protocol).
Now connect to the laptop you will find exclamation marks in the device manager of your laptop. What is the model and OS version of the device and the model and OS version of the computer? According to your symptoms your phone appears to be in option 3) USB charging only. The phone will not be detected by your laptop or the like(Computer) in this mode. Merely remains in a charging state. Are you certain the option 1) is picked MTP? If the phone is not detected there appears to be some hardware failure, try another USB port to connect to the laptop. if all else fail a service technician will pinpoint the fault. It may perhaps be a data transmission failure of the devices port to the interior of the phone. This is merely an assumption.
best remedy would be a service technician.
Hope this helps

I quite doubt the cable will be the culprit as your device charges the battery while in an established connection with the laptop. As you state the phone USB port was replaced, it could be a some glitch before the USB port in the device where there is an interruption in the data transmission signal that cannot be detected by your laptop.
Could you boot your device, computer and connect the two and take a snapshot of your device (whilst connected to the laptop) and paste the same in the forum?
Perhaps visual cue could be better at dealing such mishaps.

Your USB trident icon is not indicated on the device, If you were to receive power from the laptop the trident would be displayed on top of the screen, even for charging the battery. The power source for your device appears to from other than the laptop.
I have pasted my device after connecting to the computer and the second icon from the top left is the USB Trident icon indicating connection with my laptop. Have taken the snapshot of the menu that I was describing .
I strongly feel you have a hardware failure rather than a simple fix and would require the help of a technician (ordinary if professional is unavailable). Am skeptic you could mend that on your own unless you are proficient in electronics. This mishap is not due to flashing wrongly too, unless you have changed the stock ROM with some custom ROM which has some bug that affect the USB alone.
Take the assistance of a technician whether professional or less is my counsel
Thank you

I can do basic electronics but the if the problem lies in Mobo .. then nothing can be done .. as I don't have the spares available in India. But I would hate to lose this phone as it was a perfect fit for my needs

Then the question of wrong flash or ROM issue does not arise

If you do not have spares is best left alone rather than tampering with it and rendering the device useless if any untoward incidents tends to occur.
But I would hate to lose this phone as it was a perfect fit for my needs
Send to the vendor directly if you have warranty for the device stating its complaints or request your relative or friends who live in the area where you bought your phone to hand it to the vendor or service technician and bear its expenses

Is there a way to unlock bootloader somehow without connecting to usb ? That would also solve the purpose.. I want to root it for some of the things to work and with the latest upgrade to latest version I lost the unlocked bootloader and root.. if somehow I can unlock and root .. I should be fine without the usb connection to computer.. but I have ran out of ways
Does Kingroot work for you?
I mean did u try it or u just want magisk?
If u didn't, kingroot may be able to root ur device and unlock ur bootloader, then u can flash TWRP using rasher.. & make a backup BTW...
After that, try using the adb sideload in TWRP to test ur connection with ur computer.
TWRP for ur device : (q.gs/DxuAH)
There is a way to unlock bootloader without USB via developers option.
Go to settings-----> About phone-----> Build number ( Tap this option around 7 or 8 times) till developers option is enabled------> go back to settings-----> developers option-----> OEM unlock option (Enable this option) to unlock the bootloader.

There is no FRP unlock, to circumvent FRP you need to factory reset or flash your firmware. The above quotation was to unlock the boot loader as you cannot access through your computer. Your sole option to unlock boot loader was through the above directions.
Moreover, King root application never ask for boot loader to be unlocked. Although a little unstable this is the initial program to root any device. Once you have the TWRP setup then you could switch to Super Su etc. according to your preference.
Could you paste your developers option snapshot here...

My phone was Micromax and I am not aware of your phone's firmware, try and google or search the Xda developers forum under your phones model number for the original firmware.

Your phone has not installed TWRP duly, therefore it boots straight to the system. Search again in this XDA forum, with your pnone name and model number to obtain instructions
