By all honesty I found a scratch-free xperia 10 plus in the electronics trash and after some research bought a new battery for it, and it now works!
Since the phone is PIN locked I try to do a hard reset (power + vol down) where I get 3 vibrations but no menu is showing up.
I've also tried resetting with Sony's "PC companion" and "Flashtool" apps, but get the notification that the phone is locked.
Any other way to fix this?
How to Enter Recovery Mode on Sony Xperia 10 Plus Phone
Sony Xperia 10 Plus Android Recovery Mode. You can Reboot, Wipe data, Factory reset and wipe cache your phone after entering into Recovery Mode.

Hi, I broke my I9100s screen and want to wipe all data on the phone before I sell it. I especially need to make sure pictures and videos are deleted! Unfortunately my screen is totally black now (from barely visible) and I can't see the menus I navigate through. Also the touchscreen only works on the upper half of the screen so I am pretty much limited to the hardware buttons. I already tried VOLUP+HOME+POWER -> VOLDWN+VOLDWN -> POWER but it didnt work (when i rebooted the phone it logged right into my wifi so I am pretty sure its not wiped). Can anyone tell me if there is another way to do it (maybe using usb connection?) or whether I am doing anything wrong? TIA
flash a wipe rom from intratech thread through odin and you will be guarantueed that none of your data will be on the phone.
Pretty sure that does not wipe the sd card, where the pictures and videos are stored. What happens when you connect it to a pc, can you access the sd card?
Usb Connection mass storage mode if it will see your phone format sd card if not see if Kies can find phone .

I tried Kies but it keeps saying "Connecting..." but never does.
Also I dont know how to enter mass storage mode without the touch screen.
Anyone?
Exact same question months ago dont know if the poster found a solution .

How can u sell a phone with broken screen? Just curious.

What recovery do you have. If it's a custom one you might be able to get adb working and start a shell to clear stuff from the sd.

The phone still uses Stock-ROM/Recovery.
You can sell it on eBay. Currently SGS2 with broken screen is about 200-250€s.
In case anyone cares:
Follow these steps exactly to factory reset your phone (worked for me, unmodded SGS2):
Hold VOL-UP and HOME Buttons
Press POWER for 2-4 secs
Release VOL-UP + HOME after ~15 seconds
Press VOL-DOWN x 2
Press HOME
Press VOL-DOWN x 7
Press HOME
After that a factory reset will be performed. I dont know how long it takes but just white a while (5-10 mins?) and then remove battery to turn off phone.
A replacement lcd screen costs about 120 bucks on ebay. Here anyway.
Success with factory reset
Thank you XebozZ... I found this thread very useful after my Samsung Galaxy S2 screen was broken and I could not access my data via my PC as the screenlock was activated.
I would like to add some more detail as it took me some time to activate the factory reset. Note the factory reset removed the pin but the user files such as photos, videos, music etc were still available.
I believe the timing of the button pressing is critical to get in to the Recovery Mode.
Remove battery and re-insert to be sure phone is powered down
Press VOL-UP, HOME & POWER buttons together (pressing POWER last) for 1-5 seconds (you may have to perform several iterations 1s, 2s, 3s... 5s to get timing perfect)
Wait 10 seconds to be sure you are in Recovery Mode
Press VOL-DOWN x 2 (to get to wipe data/factory reset)
Press HOME (to select wipe data/factory reset)
Press VOL-DOWN x 7 (to select Yes - delete all user data)
Press HOME (to complete erase)
Wait 1 min to be sure erase complete
Remove battery and restart phone. Check connection with PC via Samsung Kies or similar.
This eventually worked for me so keep the faith and be patient.
FYI I verified the recovery menu options by searching through Google Images for "Samsung Galaxy S2 recovery mode"

Mine was press down button 3 times, and use power button to make selections. Just to help someone else out. Verizon white s4...
My brother cracked his Z ultra's screen, now the screen is dead, power and volume buttons are still working though.
I'm trying to clear all user's data on this phone (phone, sdcard...) in order to sell its dead body
Turned it off (by reset button), volume down doesn't do anything, it won't boot into bootloader.
USB debugging is not enabled either, so I cannot
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
How can I wipe this ?
Top of my head is trying to get into flashmode by volume down+plugging in the USB cable. Using flashtool it should tell you if its connected in flashmode or not and if it is flash a tft on it. That should clean the device by wiping everything options checked.

Remote wipe from Google?

Hi,
this morning I was struggling with this smartphone because of the lack of primary services in the device (e.g. calls, contacts, sms).
I thought about a bug in the OS or...I don't know. So, after trying the easiest things (download some app, disable/install or install other one etc), I decided to factory reset the phone. I searched for instruction on the internet and I found this procedure: power off the device, enter in recovery mode pressing power button + volume up, wipe data to factory reset.
In fact I think I pressed volume down and a screen with android symbol and no option appeared. So, I hold power button to quite this mode and reboot the system, but now the home screen is empty and any functionality disappeared (the phone is unusable).
If now I correctly enter the recovery mode pressing power button + volume up and run "factory reset" the process starts and after a few seconds it crashes and tell me that it can't recovery the system.
So, if I simply boot the system the home screen is empty and I can't use any app or function. And neither I can recovery the system to factory reset.
Pleas help.

I got ADB going..
Tried the ole adb reboot bootloader & adb reboot recovery.. no dice they both just reboot the phone.
I've got a power button on the back & volume up & down.
I tried volume up & down from powered off.. even letting go & holding them back down after a second like I saw 1 suggestion for.. nope
I tried releasing & re-holding just the power button which took me to a factory reset of the phone which is just volume up & down & power to confirm yes or no 2 twice..
Anybody have any idea how to actually get to recovery ?
The weird thing is this phone has a "Allow OEM Unlock" in the dev settings.
I have the same phone and the same problem. I searched a little on the matter and read that the recovery hasn't been released yet, whatever that means. I had to completely factory reset mine to get a virus out(hopefully) Good luck, please share if you find a solution
Hard reset says
Hard reset. Com showed me that you have to hold the power button and the volume down button until you see the LG logo and then let go of the power button and immediately press it again and continue holding until the LG logo goes off in the recovery menu will come up but it's a piss-poor recovery menu because it only allows you to delete all files on the phone
Doesn't allow you to sideload anything and custom recovery i assume?
I got the LG Rebel 4 LML211BL its from tracphone and I've tried and tried to unlock it but I'm pretty sure it's carrier locked...ive been in ADB shell, tried bootloader, tried pushing files into ADB....tracphone has it locked
I have a passcode locked LML212VL and cant get into download mode.. Ideas?
Reset it, go through setup to wifi page. Turn off mobile and then click to turn off the wifi at the same time you click next to continue setup.
Hello, There is a problem with gsmart guru g1. It is locked with pattern, and I can't remember it. (I didn't use it for long time).
To make things more clear I will list what I tried and what works, don't work:
-Can't turn on internet (Wi-FI or mobile) to sign up to google account when pattern is not correct after few attempts.. (Notification bar won't move... Tried it during a call, and so on..)
-Can enter factory mode (Volume Down), but it is chinese type (english language). There is no factory reset, or data wipe... NOT EVEN eMMC.... I think this factory mode is for testing purposes....
-Can't enter fastboot, or download mode... (that's a problem here, because If I could enter it, I would easily use cmd fastboot and wipe it from there.... (Tried button combos with Volume up, Volume up + Down, Volume up + Home and so on...)
-USB debugging mode is OFF... (Of course can't turn it on....(because it's locked...))
-Power button doesn't work. (but it is not a problem here, I just stick usb charger and do combo with buttons to enter factory mode.)
So this is interesting problem here... Because on other phones I could easily flash recoveries or change rom's... and so on... But this phone doesn't have normal stock recovery... I saw people on other chinese phones just choose eMMC in factory mode, but this option isn't there at all....
I really appreciate any help...
Any help ? :[
