Hey people!
Launched this discussion topic concerning the Google Play system updates.
My daily driver is a Samsung Galaxy A52s (SM-A528DS -- 8GB / 256 Gb - CSC MWD // Morocco), running One UI 4.0 (Feb 2022 Security patch)
Yesterday, I manually installed the lastest Google Play apk (from here) aswell as the latest Google Play services (link). What I found randomly, while digging into the phone settings is the fact there's also a prompt to check the Google Play system update in the About section. (Settings - About phone - Software information - a click on Google play System update). Once I checked, I was notified by a new update (14 MB). So I downloaded it and got asked to reboot my phone. Everythong fine so far.
I'm curious about what this update is for and what it does fix. Wondering if those steps I followed in the previous paragaph helped to unblock those updates. I had the phone since last November and never got a notification about this particular update.
Appreciate your help/answers.
Thanks in advance.

Hi all, first time post here.
I just switched from my 5-year obsession with the iPhone (due to loss of interest) and bought my first Android device, the Galaxy S4. Love it! Already updated to the latest OTA update, and then rooted via the SD card method. Just ran into my first (minimal) issue today.
Upon reading this article on Android Police, I decided to download the latest Google Play .apk to install the latest version of the app. Once downloaded, I opened the .apk for installation, but I see this (check attached image) after any attempt to install.
Any ideas?
Key Info: I have a rooted Verizon Galaxy S4 on the latest OTA update.
Good Day XDA community!
May I ask for your help regarding this frustratingly odd error that has been plaguing my Android device?
Does anyone know the probable cause why an error 495 pops up whenever I try to update or download an app? I'm currently using a stock Android L 5.1.1 device with the latest updates installed.
I tried the following steps to resolve the issue but to no avail:
- Cleared the Cache, Data and uninstalled updates of Google Play Store
- Cleared Cache and Data of Download Manager
- Tried installing an app from PC (Play Store accessed in browser)
- Removed and re-added my Google Account.
- Factory Reset (thrice already!)
Can someone help me? All my other devices (1 Android L 5.0 and 1 Android 5.1) can download and update apps flawlessly from Google Play Store. They are all on the same Wi-Fi network.
Thank you!
Hello,
My first post in here. I am not a developer.
My OPO bought in Aug 2014 has had OTA updates of os. It came with Cyanogen 11. . .(I think)
I am on Cyanogen 13.1.2 ZNH2KAS3PO (Android version 6.0.1)
My phone has not been altered . I have not performed rooting or attempted to install custom ROM.
If I perform factory reset in settings, will I return to OS what it was shipped with?
Is there any way I could reset the phone but to retain my present OS. ie: Cyanogen 13.1.2
(The main reason I wish to perform the above is because I am unable to find "Starling Bank" app in Google play store.
On the 22nd April 2019 Starling App on my phone when I attempted to access my account(using for 3 years) received the following message:
" for security we ask you to update your app from time to time. The latest version can be down loaded from Goole Play Store" )
I removed Starling Bank App v 0.65.1.26531.
Goole Play Store is not showing up the latest Starling App. On search Google play store I get a massage to say item not found.
I spent an hour with google help and they could not resolve. They even tried to "air drop" the app from my wife's Google pixel to no avail.
The Starling Bank stretches their head and could not offer a solution
Hence my thinking if I do a factory reset of my phone, I may be able to get this app from Google store?
My Goole play store version us 14.5.20 all.
Thanks for your time
Rgds

Download Maine Components By Google LLC APP Last Version 2021
install the apk and reboot, check for google play system update again and update the play store.
Note - this no actual update. Just show google play system update to latest.
This will not update anything on your phone. Please refer to this guide instead. Avoid the Main Components APK as that does more harm than good.
Hello,
I have a Galaxy S21 Ultra with android 12. Having de-googled the device, I would like to know if there is a way to get the .apex files used for the Google Play system updates and manually install them with adb. The android documentation says it is possible using adb install <MODULE>, but I can't find any information on the intermet about where to find the Google signed modules. I would try to do some network captures, but reinstalling Google Play services says I'm up to date (Play update is on January 1) so it won't download any modules.
I know it is possible to update the .apk modules (eg. DocumentsUI) but that leaves out many of the more important (for security) modules (eg. ART)
