ive just recently set this tracking and sim change thing up and thought id have a mess around with it and check samsung dive out and see if it works and all works ok, but now i have a big problem what i did was basically set it up so it can text you when sim has been changed and also to do some remote dat wiping amongst other function however i now want to turn these features off but ive messed up and you know what ive done right ?......yep ive forgottent the password ive tried everything but i just cant remember it !!!
can anyone help ?
what are my options? ive just recently set the phone up how i want it too with ics and all that aswell so didnt fancy factory reset etc
security>find my mobile>sim change alert> FORGOT PASSWORD!!!
its bugging me because lets say i wanted to sell the phone then what happens? if say they want to know etc ....im such an idiot but i dont know what it is as i normally never forget my password maybe im getting old lol!
Factory reset mate. Or check on the Samsung Dive website.
Don't worry about when it comes to selling the phone as a factory reset or flashing a stock firmware will remove that anyway.

im running stock ics . I logged into dive with no probs but the password on the phone must be something else and there is no option to change that. i may have to try and forget about bit I'm one of those who just has to sort it or i won't be able to stop thinking about it lol. Looks like its factory reset then ....and so will lose root etc etc and setup all again ....damn!
Thank mate for reply

No problem. Just create a new account again once all set up and write down your password

I deleted samsung acount from device and re entered and voila it now works so it was not the password it was something else ? because the same password i thought it always was now seems to work, so the only thing i feel it could be is something just went wrong when i updated the phone to ics recently as when i did the update via kies and then the phone booted up it automatically restored the device's setting and apps etc to exactly how it was when on GB ? i myself did no do a back up or restore it just did it which was great!.......i do have the inbuilt back up and reset function ticked though
anyway i now can changed the sim change etc alerts again
I ran into this last night, so I wanted to post this so others don't run into as well. Yesterday I was going to flash a few rows to try them out, so I made a backup in TWRP. Later when I restored the backup, it asked for my pin once the phone booted. I entered in my pin, but it said it was the wrong one. I tried restoring the backup again, but same error kept occurring. Eventually I had to do a factory reset. I'm guessing that there is no way to restore a pin, pattern, etc. So before you make a backup, be sure to turn off any lock screen security measures so you don't run into the same problem!
Problem
If you have a TWRP backup and you had a secure lock screen, when you restore it will not be the same pin/pattern/password. You will not be able to get past the lock screen.
Also if you try to restore a back up from one phone to another, it can render the fingerprint scanner useless until you factory reset. You'll get red text on your lockscreen that states "Fingerprint hardware not available"
Solution
Restore your backup. Then while still in TWRP go delete /data/system/locksettings.db
This should let you swipe to unlock your phone. Your fingerprints will still be saved and can be used once you set up a secure lock screen
Problem
If you made a backup of one Nexus 6P, and got a new Nexus 6P and restored the old phone's backup, then it may be a little different to fix.
Solution
To clear fingerprint/Nexus Imprint data, delete/move to backup:
Code:
/data/fpc/ # this seems to be related to inability to add/remove imprints, perhaps the hardware ID, I haven't checked the contents of global.db
For each user (e.g. 0), delete/move to backup:
Code:
/data/system/users/0/fpdata/
/data/system/users/0/settings_fingerprint.xml # You can actually rename fingerprints without problems, this file seems to just reference the hardware storage
Thanks to @mikexda for providing us with a solution.
Thanks to @jparnell8839 for providing the feedback on restoring backups.
Thanks to @myshen for providing a solution for when you restore a backup to a new 6P
I just ran into the same thing! Caused a great deal of grief! Oh well!
Are your phones encrypted?

no my phone is not encrypted
Just tested this out and had the same problem. It does work OK if you remove security before the backup. For those keeping track, I am encrypted.

So when you say remove security, you mean Screen lock = None, yes?

Think its PIN, Password, and or Finger Print.

Looks like it doesn't matter whether you are encrypted or not.

Yes precisely! So as long as you remove it before the backup you are fine. Any back ups that had lock screen security will be useless and you will be unable to get back in.
Now what about the people that will miss this thread? I know I almost did. Going to forward this in the root guide and hope to see it there.
I've made this thread a sticky temporarily.
One should do their homework before messing with devices.
Sticky will help, I hope!
Bummer. Do we know what's breaking it and what needs to be fixed, e.g. TWRP or something else?

Looks like twrp which I'm sure they are looking at...
Interesting. Curious, if you restore a back up and re-enable the fingerprint, do you have to set it up again or does it save that info? Might lead credence to Jerry's paranoia about fingerprints not really being secure.

From my experience, once you disable the lock screen security, the finger prints are deleted and you would have to set them up again. So there would be no way for them to survive a back up.
Ok, I just restored from a nandroid TWRP Backup and I re-entered my pattern fine? Maybe it's a pin issue?
You can't use your Google account to reset the PIN?

So, at this point, it looks like the pattern restores fine but the pin won't and will lock you out. Can we confirm this?

Strange because the pattern really is a PIN, it gets converted into a PIN anyway from what I recall.
Pattern fails also. Found out yesterday the hard way.
Hello everyone,
so few days ago my S6 Edge turned off by itself and after a restart, I couldn't unlock it with my Fingerprint.
So I did a factory reset.
Now, the phone accepts my Fingerprint, but this time it asks for a Samsung Account and I have no clue which Mail I used back in those days.
I contacted Samsung, proved them that I'm the owner of the device and then they told me that I have to pay a guy who will re-install the Software.
So my question is: If I "flash" the OFW of my device.. Will it bring it back to life? Or will it again ask for a Samsung Account?
Or is there any possibility to find out, which Mail I may used? Or what should I do now?
Thanks!
Depends. If you turned on reactivation lock then they will have to do it. If not a factory reset with wipe should be enough.
As a grown person you should take care of what addresses you sign up with really. Use keepass to store usernames and passwords if you forget.

Urgh, I guess the reactivation lock was turned on
But is there really no other possibility to do it by my own?

Yes, you're right, I should.. But unfortunately, due to stress and other, more important stuff, I forget things like these.. You know, be a student is really hard
Really no ideas ?
Hi, I've got an old Z Ultra that I'd like to use as a tablet. It's the perfect size and spec for me. I can use it for browsing at home and then slip it in my pocket if I wanna take it with me.
There's a problem though - there's a screen lock on it and I can't for the life of me remember the pattern. Surprisingly, there's no backup PIN or recovery option.
So, I know this sounds really dodgy, but I really want to bypass the lock WITHOUT deleting the data. It'll have all my old text messages from my late father and I can't bear to just wipe them.
Any suggestions?

Is the bootloader unlocked or locked?
Bootloader locked
If you had it connected to wifi or a sim inserted with google logged in then maybe it pops up here https://www.google.com/android/devicemanager
Guide here: https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Android+Device+Manager+-+Bypass+Screen+Lock+on+any+Android+Device/34600
If not signed in to google or able to connect to wifi or sim..bad luck. You can try hack it with some recovery software
Try dr.phone as mentioned here: https://www.androidphonesoft.com/resources/forget-lock-password-android.html
Its a dodgy software but perhaps worth a try if you have a spare computer to mess around with.
Bootloader unlocked
You can boot a twrp recovery and backup the file mmssms.db and mmssms.db-journal in /data/user_de/0/com.android.providers.telephony
You can also first make a nandroid backup in twrp and then extract the database from the backup as mentioned here:

And here is some more random guides compiled in a thread:

My phone has been hacked into and it seems they can enter whenever. I was given a Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000m by a friend, and it's running Froyo 2.2 and the hardware is that of windows (NOW), not my doing. Would an upgrade get rid of those who switch my settings during the night. Should I put a different operating system in...most of this being as clear as mud to me! I can't even download apps without them knowing and they would just join the rest of the grayed out ones. I am beginning to think how far would a Galaxy S skip as I toss it across the river.
Any suggestions would be of help as to what to do about this dilemma.
Have you done a factory reset? I would definitely suggest doing that. If you're rooted I'd make a backup and factory reset. See if that clears up your problem. Also once you have done a factory reset change your passwords to your email (Gmail etc ..) accounts. Whatever you do don't change your passwords until after you've done a factory reset because it may lock you out otherwise for 72 hours.

Let me know how that goes. Factory reset usually takes away any type of spyware on a device if something's been installed.

Thank you, I have done a factory reset, used *#*#7780#*#*, and *2767*3855# many a time with no luck. Whoever it is put a small package in my phone and I only have half the features available. I have tried to erase the ram but get caught. As far as passwords they got into my GMail through GSuite and I have 2 step verification on it using printed out codes. I've notified Google.

I'd do a factory reset in stock recovery.
I believe you can get into stock recovery by pressing volume up, power and home buttons all at the same time then release em all when it reboots. Should get you to stock recovery. I dont use dialer codes. I've been messing with phone's since HTC Evo and Galaxy S2 days. I've never had a virus that a factory reset didn't wipe out. (And a change of my passwords and security checkup.)
Remember if someone logs into your gmail account it will have your phone model as the device that logged in but it's NOT.
I always delete all recognized devices too...
Hope that helps. If so please hit the thanks button as I'm trying to be able to make posts on here and can't till I have 10, not on certain threads anyway.... Lmao.
I hope you solve this issue though.
