Google Phone dialer app - backup and restore - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, i need your advice please, guys.
I have problems with Google phone dialer app, the only way to fix it is to delete the data of the app or to uninstall it.
I dont want to lose the call logs nor the recordings.
Is there a way i can backup these things and restore them at a later point?
Let me know please
Thanks

email client from the stock FW

I would very much like to use the email client that comes with the stock FW, as the one that comes with Cyanogen does not show HTML.
How can i do this? I already backed all apps using Titaniuma backup, but when i choose restore missing apps and choose the email client, nothing happens?
What am i doing wrong? Do i need to do something more?
EDIT: When i click on the email app i backed up in Titanium it says only data is backed up and no app..... how come?

Bump - any replies folks? I specifically had this same doubt - wanted to preserve the email application when I move (up) to CM7
You can try to use "system remover" to restore the applications that have been backuped before. Just put the *.apk in /sdcard/SystemAppBackup.
I also suggest you to read this wiki:

It's a very good guide to remove or install applications (both system or user applications).
what about the dialer in stock?

[Q] how can i open contacts2.db?

hello,
i've upgraded my s3 from stock rom 4.0.4 to Cyanogenmod 10 4.1.2.
now some contacts got lost, i tried importing them from my nandroid backup over titanium backup pro.
After importing my contacts application crashes though so i had to delete all contact data.
is there any program to open contacts2.db which displays the contacts in a nice, readable way?
sorry if this is in the wrong section
Hi,
I am having a similar problem. For some reason not all my contacts were synced up, and I want to recover them.
Were you able to resolve this, if so, how?
Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

Search "sqlite" in play store and download one of those sqlite database managers.
If you're using Google contacts, then remove yourself from Google on your phone in settings. That will clear everything.
Then go to google contacts on the web and check if any contacts are missing. If not, just add Google I'd again and let it resync.
If you're not sure or if contacts are missing. Then Google has nifty little feature of reverting contacts to a specific date. Kinda like windows restore. That should get you back on track, then after restore, add the google account to sync and you're set.

Contacts backup

Hello,
As you know, after each ROM flash, if you have big pictures for your contacts, they will become very small.
Does anyone knows a backup software (or method of backup) for contacts that after ROM flash to restore the contacts pictures as they were before flashing?
Thank you.

I think google, now supports syncing hi-res contact pictures with your google contacts (pc)
I didn't try. But, it should be a method of doing it also locally. I tried by copying the contacts folder from /data/data and put it into the new ROM but is not working. Should be another files that are involved in this process.
You could also use MyBackup Root, excellent for a task like this

I tried. It doesn't want to backup my contacts. It gives a lot of errors when I want to backup contacts.
I think that I found the solution: Titanium Backup Root.

How to backup and restore before and after installing custom ROM

Hi guys, I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 (SM-G900H) International Exynos version. I want to install a custom ROM, Lineage OS. I've done my research and there's only one thing left that I don't have a solid grasp of, how to perform a backup. Lemme explain. There are some things that I wanna backup, but I don't know the most efficient way. They are my text messages (SMS), my call log and my memos. I'm not worried about my contacts cause they're synced with Google, i could always re-download my apps and I'm not worried about losing my progress in my games, as for my media, they're all on my SD card, so I don't have to worry about those too. Could you tell me how to backup and restore those things I mentioned earlier ? (SMS, call logs, Memos) By the way, I'm rooted and have Titanium Backup installed.
Thank you for your time and help.

After reading the final backups is call logs, sms, memos right...
Then those three can be backed up as xml format...
Go to the menu of Titanium Backup and choose backup data to xml option and backup the things you wish to....
So that they can be readable and also restorable..
But I think you cant backup memos if you are using S Memo to backup...
So for safety backup S Memo app if you are using s memo with tb..
Finally before going to install Lineage Backup the ROM in TWRP for safety.......

With adb I deleted the Contacts app from my phone without knowing that this would making calls even with other contact apps impossible. Now I'd like to reinstall it without having to completly flash my phone and loose my data. Can anybody provide me with the files that I need to add to system/priv-app/contacts/ ?
Or is there any other way to restore the stock phone app?
Thank you very much!
