With adb I deleted the Contacts app from my phone without knowing that this would making calls even with other contact apps impossible. Now I'd like to reinstall it without having to completly flash my phone and loose my data. Can anybody provide me with the files that I need to add to system/priv-app/contacts/ ?
Or is there any other way to restore the stock phone app?
Thank you very much!

Hi,
I have a question which might seem too stupid or trivial.
I am currently running CM 7.1.0 ROM on my Legend. I would like to flash ogo2's Gingerbread ROM while restoring all apps and messages/contacts.
Can somebody help me with the procedure of backing up apps and messages, then flashing the new ROM, then restoring all apps/messages
I have no idea for messages since it doesn't care for me.
If you are not going to format/clean your SD card Titanium backup can be helpful for saving applications with data.
The only app you will need to install is Titanium and it restore applications+appsdata for you after flashing.
Make a backup/restore test drive before proceed with flashing.
For keeping your messages there's some apps in market that might help you, haven't tried them though.

Hi, when i did my root and flashed brand new rom, I used 3 things, I used visionary+ temp root then used Titanium Back for all my apps, I used Go SMS Pro to backup all my sms/mms, and for contacts, I used the built in export contacts to .vcf file the good thing about this is if your contacts are stored on phone (not sim) and you have more than one contact for each name + contact pictures associated they fully restore (so long as you leave the pictures alone on SDcard. If you use only sim for contacts, I have found that you can have problems, only storing the default cantact number, no picture association after backup and restore (lost a whole heap of contacts that way).
How ever, since gaining a lot more knowledge, apparantly you can actually use Titanium to backup your contacts and sms/mms as well as your apps using the "backup system data" from the batch mode, although I haven't tried this yet, I cannot confirm that it works.
for contacts you can export them to sd card, as for the sms and other apps use Titanium Backup
Helloo
I am new here and to android, bought my first android phone ever just few days back ,i have read and spent time reading and searching stuff here and gotta say i learned a lot in just few days but there are few things i didnt quite understood...
Q1, i knw the difference between odex and deodex read here but i wana ask, what are the main benefits of deodex ? is it that we can install theams and other stuff like that on stock with it? or smething else ..
Q2: i have tried successfully coderrom and blackhawk and i was able to restore my apps data with titanium backup but i tried cyanogenmod kang rc1 and was not able to restore anything is it not possible or any particular way to restore? i wana restore my call history , messages, contact etc usuallstuff.
Q3: the clockwork backup can it be restored directly above any rom ? if i am running cyanogen or coderrom and want to go back to my old backup just in case should i just restore my old backup directly ? or i have to flash the stock first and then apply backup(this is how i did for now tho)
Q1 - yes, for themes.
Q2 - I restore my backups pretty fine. But not messages and contacts. For contacts I the google account so it automatically restores. For sms I use Go Sms Pro inbuilt function.
And Q 3 yes, any rom.

All,
How do I make a backup of my settings, or which file do I need to extract when I want to make a backup of google play?
Issue is the follwoing, As google music currently saves all the music in the Data folder on the Phone (at least in my Galaxy Nexus) and no longer on the sdcard, every time I flash a new rom or an updat I loose Google music. obviously that is not an issue as I can reinstall the app, however the files I want to have locally on the phone need to be re-downloaded. the issue is that with the new install these settings have been lost, and I need to go back in the app and mark every file to be stored offline again from scratch.
I have also tried bracking up via Ti backup, however that leads into bigger problems as after restoring the app gets reset everytime I reboot....
Any help would be appriciated
Patrick
anybody have any idea where I can start? Is this normal behaviour? what is the correct process to keep my settings when flashing a new rom?
Hey guys,
I'm having issues with messaging apps on my virgin mobile S2. The issue came about the other day with the stock messaging app, where I would open any conversation, and when I go to close out of it, the app freezes and then gives the "unfortunately messaging has stopped". I tried clearing the cache in recovery mode and that has not helped. I have also tried downloading 2 new messaging apps and they are both having the same issue; freezing when I close out a sms conversation. Not really sure where to go from here. Do you think a factory reset would help? Also, is there any way to re-install the stock messaging app? I definitely did a system backup with Titanium Backup a while back, but the app is showing nothing as being backed up...and I foolishly deleted my messaging app.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
-Mike
As a general response to asking "Will a factory reset help?", it's best to make a complete nandroid backup, do the reset and see if that fixes the problem. If it doesn't, you can always restore the back up.
Doing a reset will recover the default messaging app, so I'd recommend it in this case. Titanium backup should recover all your data, but be careful when recovering sms data, as there may be some corrupted messages which cause crashes.

Do I need to unroot before I do the factory reset?
Root will disappear automatically!
If you're using a custom recovery, it may not remove root, however.
I just did a factory reset. It did not seem to recover the default messaging app; seems it is lost and gone forever. I can't seem to find the apk anywhere online either.
Installing stock rom via odin will restore all system apps, in this case messaging too, so find your stock rom and flash via odin.
Install a New ROM via Odin. Before this,It is better to do MegaWipes.

Hi, i need your advice please, guys.
I have problems with Google phone dialer app, the only way to fix it is to delete the data of the app or to uninstall it.
I dont want to lose the call logs nor the recordings.
Is there a way i can backup these things and restore them at a later point?
Let me know please
Thanks
You can backup it google drive, currenly i have not found any other way to backup googlr dialer and google message. Irony ANDROID OPEN SOURCE PROJECT I know its very late reply just in case any other person requires it.
