Question Poor performance, please help - Realme GT 2 Pro

Hi all!
I recently purchased this phone and I'm really disapointed with the performance. Here are the main points:
Antutu scores are like 900k (sometimes less), and I've seen a lot of people scoring over 1kk.
Genshin impact runs REALLY bad, never hitting 60 fps and often going under 30 (before throttling). Results are a lot worse than a snapdragon 870...
The phone overheats randomly
I did a hard reset and installed everything fresh, without copying from other device or anything. Any idea of what can be going on?
Thank you!

Gotten Monday device? 8 gen 1s from Samsung are bad enough for Qualcomm to swap to TSMC now. I would give it back if possible.

Afaik, even after factory resetting your device, if the problem still persists, doesn't that mean there's some problem with the hardware. As the above member said, you should try refunding it.

Same here. 894254 with GT mode ON on global version. Does anyone know what to do to get better results?

What you've done is discover the same issues found by a majority of reviewers which I hope Realme will fix in the software. The phone has a very large passive cooling heatsink, but during long gaming sessions, (or similar) the phone will get a little warm. As far as antutu scores I'm running a benchmark right now. I'll post it as soon as possible.

Here is the screenshot of my device.

I got this phone for $1050 and so far it's great I don't have any issues as you said but there is the heating problem and it'll get resolved in the next update I guess!

Wow that is a lot of cash.

I got it from the Official site so the price is high!

I ended up returning it and getting and iPhone 13 instead. I loved the phone but can't rely con Realme fixing everything. Thank you all for the replies!

Just so you know Apple devices also have bugs and Apple is slow to fix them unless they involve security issues.

All phones have issues and they'll get resolved in the updates so you don't have to worry. The Oneplus is the only phone which is worse with major problems! Realme is a good phone.

This is my Score, is it bad? My Battery don't last a day. Antutu Score: 924473. Why is it so much worst than your score? :/

In the last update Realme may have lowered performance in order to reduce the heat issue some people are complaining about. That is still a fine score. I will make another antutu benchmark and post it here later.

I ran another antutu benchmark. I made sure all processes on the phone were closed except antutu. The score is over 1 million. Build is RMX3301_11_A.14

According to Antutu my score was the number 1 ranking

Here is another screenshot showing my score ranking in the android app.

Okay I resetet my Smartphone now and got another Rank xD. But I have to say my phone was Cold for the Benchmark!

That is an outstanding benchmark.

Ha, ha! I just posted a thread about this in the "General" sub forum. I'm running it on both my OG and N7, and I haven't tried any massive games yet on either, but I did notice a significant decrease in just general loading times for things like Facebook, Chrome and the stock launcher on my Nexus 7. Can't tell a difference on my OG, but then, I've never noticed any lag on it either. Maybe if someone could run a benchmark it might give us some additional info.
It makes no difference in Quadrant scores on the LGOG the scores with and without were the same.. I have two friends who are using it on the Nexus 7 that both claim speed increases, as for on my LGOG I have been running it for a couple days and can't really tell if it does anything or not.. This phone already doesn't lag.

I figured as much. The only reason I put it on my OG was because I'd already bought the app in the Play Store (support the devs :good, so figured I'd try it out. Due to the minor security concerns and possible battery issue, I'll probably just disable it until the day comes when I find my phone lagging. Hopfully waaaay in the future.
Looks like it's been debunked already..

Not quite. It's still being hotly debated. It's just that XDA is withdrawing their "seal of approval" until this gets settled. It might be placebo, but my Nexus 7 was loading apps noticably faster (in my mind anyway). I'll have to time the loading of some apps later to unscientifically compare. Might run some benchmarks too just for S&G.
Edit: As of right now, it seems that everyone has confirmed it DOES speed up the Nexus 7 and some other devices, but they're still trying to figure out exactly why it works: https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=42265

Does anyone here NOT have the weird screen battery drain issue?

What the title said. Does anyone not have the issue where screen is draining the battery even when its off? Also I read a lot of people complaining about 4-6h SOT time, so much that I'm beginning to think that's a feature not a bug. But the idle screen usage thing is weird. If you don't have that issue could you post a screenshot of your screen usage? Everyone is showing at least 70% and that I assume is too high. On my current phone its nowhere near that much with max brightness and actually on. I currently own an LG Optimus L7II (P710) and it's near the end of its life span, so its time for a new phone. Yes RN2 screen is bigger but its not that bigger to cause such a huge drain.
I'm preparing to buy this phone (Prime version) and I've only found it in one shop in my country (where on their site says 2.0ghz 32gb internal memory version, but afaik if its 32gb its prime and should be 2.2ghz, so error I guess, I'll call them to confirm), so I'm trying to gather as much info about it and whats gonna be an issue with the phone. I'll be happy if it gets through the day with about 3h actual light gaming or chatting in viber. I occasionally only play PokemonGO when I go out for a walk or cycle for 2-3h, and some card games at home, nothing too heavy. Not that I'm able on my current phone anyway. lol
Also a side question if I may, whats the deal with the kernel? The source is needed to fix issues like the battery drain and make truly custom roms, right? Are they ever going to release the source code? I'm guessing the answer is maybe, we don't know yet. Just thought maybe someone has an insight to share about previous Xiaomi phones and kernels.
Xiaomi RN2 is the only phone out of 3 that have the things I want(Min => 2gb RAM, quad-core, 3000mAh removable battery, gyroscope, gps, sd-card slot, and under 250 euros), and the only one in my country barely available. So I'm freaking out a bit over this battery drain issue.
EDIT: Crap, the only shop I found it at, at reasonable price doesn't have it. Only Note 3s, and I don't want note 3 cause of built-in battery. Guess I'm stuck ordering online and paying 30% custom fee... So instead of 150$ it'll be 200$ and no warranty.
Anyone?

Thanks for the info. It looks like your screen is not using as much as people reporting it uses 60-70% of battery, if I'm reading it correctly, while yours is using only 16%. I'm gonna call the phone shop in a bit (waiting for them to have their morning coffee lol) and see if they still have the phone. Then I just hope mine doesn't drain too.
@ChrisBunny I forgot to say about Core clock. Your shop has wrong information about CPU frequency. Prime version has 2.2GHz (exactly 2.1x GHz) and non-prime version has clock 2GHz (exactly 1.95GHz)

Yeah that's what I figured. I found a couple ads for the phone, so I might still get it, it just won't have any warranty.
So your Xiaomi RN 2 screen uses only about 15% of the battery? That's really good if I understood correctly. How long does your battery last when you leave it alone and when you use it a lot?
@ChrisBunny
I'm fully charged now, later will post screenshot when i will get 5 or 10% on battery.

I'm happy with the phone. Speciffication for that cheap price is great. It has everything what i needed except Qualcomm processor (with Mediatek it's hard with sources so the phone can't get custom kernels, you know) Games works good. I have played pokemon for a short time- no problem with playing but nothing speciall for me so I uninstalled it.
GTA San Andreas - no fps drop
Shadow warrior - no fps drop
League of stickman - no fps drop
Gangstar Vegas - no fps drop
Dungeon hunter 5 - on some maps fps dropped but i think it's weak optimalization
Sim city - no fps drop
The sims free play - no fps drop
Thats the most (i think) advanced games i have played on my device. Don't remember more xD

No, 12% battery loss in 12 hours - mostly idle time, but with some slight use (email, text, etc). Wireless and Bluetooth left on (the battery was on about 63% when the phone was switched on).
BTW: I am running a "Skinnified" MIUI 7.5.10 ROM.

Ah that's even better! Whats your guess whats the reason a lot of people experience those crazy screen battery drains? I hope the reason is just some fluke with the rom, and not with hardware.

I think it would most likely be a software (ie, ROM) issue (ie, something is behaving badly in the background). Many of us spend a lot of energy trying to get better battery performance from the phone - but it is all really about how the software is configured. Without the sources to the kernel code, the best that can be done is tweaking bits here and there. This is what makes the Skinny ROM guidelines from @jajk very useful (to remove Xiaomi bloat and battery hogs). This requires some effort, patience, and nerves; but it can be quite rewarding. For me, I have been far more concerned with idle time than with "screen on" time, because my phone spends most of its time doing nothing.

MokeeOS compiled by vova.vafin. For me, his roms are better than for example Bulee. Device not overheat and have some power tweaks.

Now I'm just waiting on reply from the seller and he should send tuesday and it should arrive wednesday. Yeah it doesn't have removable battery, but from what I researched its an awesome phone and battery isn't an issue.

Cpu feequency doesn't go over 1.7 ghz

Hy guys.
My girfriend bought a beautiful S9 plus and she loves it. It is a great piece of hardware, from design to speed and camera. Just amazing.
Of course i had to test a few things myself (still a rooted note 3 owner). I tried my old "Nemesis", Retroarch, with a couple of games (3rd gen Cave shmups) that put to shame every smartphone Cpu sp far.
The games finally ran full speed, except for moments where a ton of stuff happends on screen and the framerate and audio start going a bit crazy. What is strange though, is the fact that the Cpu never goes beyond 1.7 ghz, never once, which is the little cores max frequency. I'd expect it to reach 2.7 which is the max for the big powerfull ones, to further smoothen the performance.
Is there something i'm missing here? There is no power saving activated and the game center(?forgot the actual.name) settings are set to performance (though from what i understand it only affects display, not Cpu).
...help?

I haven't gone beyond 1.7ghz since my last reset, I did when I first got the phone but my assumption is that s new kernel was installed that changed the way the CPU ramped up (Exynos btw) to counter the battery life claims. In all honesty from my limited knowledge it's probably the GPU that limits the frame rate but that's only a guess as 8 cores @ 1.7ghz is plenty of processing power.

The S9+ is not rooted, so it's on stock kernel.
Also, the emulator (mame) is designed to only use Cpu for 2d games, with Gpu used at minimum.
1.7 is far from enough, especially when it can go up to 2.7 to improve the otherwise non-optimal performance of the games. I'm very curious what's the issue here...

Oh, now i understand. Well, it's very strange and frankly, a bit alarming. Could anyone else with up to date stock software share some numbers as well?
Same.
Same here on G965FXXU2BRG6.
Edit: It seems that CPU Spy doesn't work correctly on the S9. When using CPU-Z and running Geekbench 4, I can clearly see CPUs 4-7 running at 2704 MHz at times.
That's interesting. So my next test will have to involve Cpu-z as a monitoring tool. Thanks for the replies guys.
We need a cristal clear answer on this.

God damn it. Haven't got the time to do further testing myself yet, but by the looks of it 1.7 seems to be the max. and not 2.7.
Any rooted phones owners care to share some numbers? Can you lock it to 2.7 like it should?
Are we talking Exynos or Snapdragon here? That'd be a good piece of info while sharing the stats!
Personally i'm talking about exynos, but apparently snapdragon behaves the same.

I did the same, then I tried in WQHD+ resolution hoping that it may create more demand from CPU/GPU and no, same 1.7. What is the best way to make a complaint about it to Samsung? We bought an 8 cylinder Maserati and after the honeymoon they remotely disabled two because the engine might blow?

It would be great if a rooted user with a Cpu oriented kernel (overclocking, voltage, governor manipulation) would show us that those big cores can, at least when rooted, be used at full potential.

Thanks, am gonna register there, see what they have to say about it. That and my other question I'd have: why I received my 'new' S9+ with IMEI SV 07? And when I did IMEI lookup on line, found out that the phone was registered for warranty one month before I ordered it. My email to Customer Service was returned with "Samsung sells only brand new phones". Didn't know that there is no replacement policy at Samsung, you can only return it for refund, it's not a good option for me, because I took that 'bundle deal' and I don't owe the Chromebook anymore, they would subtract some$ from it. Well, according to Samsung, the warranty on my phone runs until October '19, we'll see.

Performance? Low AnTuTu score

Hey, what AnTuTu score do you get?
I've watched few clips over youtube, people get ~365k. My tablet barely makes 310k.
Here's my score in the attached images. Any ideas what could cause that issue?
The tablet feels somehow laggish and sluggish while moving around the menus.

Actually it's getting worse.
It just made 290k after few days of using.
However it's strange.
I got 158k at GPU like gomelkiev.
However i've got 50k CPU against 113k.
It's like some power thing, which is strange, because the tablet was on charger while doing the AnTuTu.
I can't find any performance mode toggle like on the phones.

No other tweaks of any kind.
well, I'm using it mainly for darkness rises and it's doing fine. My worries about the low score are because at this point is not certain if it's hardware or software issue. It might be battery optimization as well as thermal issue i.e. heat sink not attached perfectly which may progress at some point.

Maybe 6gb vs 8gb ram creates big difference?

Samsung's Korean devices have funky software and radios to work on their funky cellular networks. There's lots posted on XDA about issues people have had running Korean devices in the U.S. Korean and Chinese devices are generally considered no bueno as imports.
Try putting it in airplane mode with Wi-Fi enabled and running AnTuTu again. My EU LTE version arrives tomorrow and I'll test it for comparison.

I get between 440k and 450k it has to do with a program it comes with game preformance. You have to have that set on preformance. I have the 6gb version btw. I was concerned like you when I first got it, it was doing about the same as my Razer phone 2 which has a 845. Almost sent it back till I found that game preformance thing. Which also brought my 3d mark score from 4700 to 5600. That's also prolly why the guy with the rooted one gets a higher score, because that game preformance thing is removed, which lowers everything to save battery.
Just ran it again got 443259
~430k here (2 runs, pretty consistent).
Concerning the remark above, I froze quite a few things including game performance I believe so might have an influence...

With today's softare optimization and hardware it makes me wonder if debloating is even worth it anymore other than not wanting the crap there. Edit: I ran a test for fun and even scored higher than the rooted and debloated guy.

Question Laggy UI and bad real world performance

I recently went from a oneplus 5 to the nord 200 when I switched to t-mobile because of the free promotion. Before I got it I did a little bit of research on the processor and storage speed and didn't expect much of a difference in performance because the snapdragon 480 seems to be fairly powerful and the nord has the same UFS 2.1 storage as my old phone.
I was pretty disappointed to find in my use the phone about 1/2 the time the phone was pretty sluggish in the general user experience and app launch times were significantly longer. May be placebo, but I disabled digital wellbeing, and all the tmobile bloatware and it may have helped a little. I remember reading oneplus heavily throttled some of their phones in recent history. I may switch back to my old phone.
I know the device is relatively new, do you guys think it will get better with software updates or is this just how it is?
I found turning on "Mobile data always active" in the developer options massively improved performance in my apps (at least where online load times and download speeds in-game were concerned)
Did you just get your phone recently? After setting up this phone for the first time, I also noticed the device was extremely slow, with all the app and software updates happening in the background. After all the updates were installed, I turned the phone off for about a day, and performance went to normal. It's not as fast as a flagship and there are minor hiccups here and there, but that's about what I expected from a 400 series SoC.
My original report was the day after I set everything up, I disabled the permissions for the launcher which did improve the responsiveness of the launcher, but application performance and launch times are still slow compared to my old device and not what I would expect from a phone of this spec.
I'm pretty confident this phone is a victim of oneplus' recently reported throttling for battery life. I was curious and compared geekbench scores (which aren't throttled under oneplus' list) and both the nord and my oneplus 5 got fairly similar scores for both cpu and compute. I tried out a browser benchmark motionmark which benches graphics performance. The nord got a 25 and the oneplus 5 got a 189... I ran the test again to make sure but got similar results.
That graphics should be coming from gpu and not cpu though....
I tested cpu and compute on geekbench, compute is a measure of gpu performance. The nord scored a little higher than the 5 in that.
I would assume oneplus' throttling would effect cpu and gpu but even if not, my oneplus 5 scoring almost 8x as high does not seem anywhere near normal

Same experience here, i picked up this phone expecting at least a decent experience but still get bad slow not usable for everyday tasks sometimes.
Im not expecting a flagship performance of course but this is far from decent in my experience.
I hope android 12 will solve many performance issues. Or custom fw
I'm about to throw away this phone into trash. Did not expect so weak dev community activity. The laggy interface is almost unusable if you constantly swap between apps and find them unloaded from RAM. All my text or uploaded content just disappear. It is very frustrating experience. I never had this behaviour with my 2/32 gb xiaomi.

If you're really at your wit's end, have you considered installing a GSI? I've tried Phh's AOSP w/ gapps, and once you register your device with Google, it works flawlessly (except safetynet/drm) and is a million times faster than stock. Or I'd be more than happy to take your device off your hands.

You know, custom ROMs don't just appear out of thin air. Someone has to take the time to bring up a device and make it stable, and it's not an easy task. I would say to be patient and just accept the fact that there's no guarantee that this device will get custom ROMs.

Other than pictures from the camera being degraded compared to stock and having to install apps from the Play Store/changing a few settings in the Settings app, everything seems to work fine
