This is my question
why all the ROM out there are needed to be flash from xrecovery within the phone itself
Is there any thing like X10i_2.0.2.A.0.24_Generic.ftf?? That flash through USB cable?
Like old time? I flash my k800i and w810i those kind of method (flash via USB)
basically:
xrecovery flash *.img files
flashtool flash *.ftf witch came from *.sin files like the ones you found on SEUS or PCC
you CAN flash SE firmware through xRecovery without using SEUS or PCC but you need to do that in 2/3 or 4 steps.
1. flash phone with SE firmware;
2. backup SE firmware through xRecovery;
3. transform *.img files into something readable on xRecovery so that you can flash a new rom with it.

Thanks for reply
Just wanted to know what's the different of them? Regarding performance or stuffs like that?
Like maybe ftf is better or maybe flash through xrecovery is better... stuffs like that
the instructions state that,
1, i need to unlock my bootloader
2, flash the kernel to nAa 11
3, flash the new ROM?
is that it?
do I need x-recovery to LOAD the MiniCM7 files? So it can install? im getting dizzy...
Please help me ! :-(
there are so many versions of it... which one is the correct one???!?!
Bootloader Unlock - guide at this thread: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254225
Flashtool for flashing kernel. Looks like that it is required for the bootloader unlock, see above link.
Kernel - Place file in flashtool firmwares folder. Start flashtool, click flash, select the firmware and follow instructions. Kernel download from here: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1256739
Kernel includes ClockworkMod recovery, used for flashing ROMS, among other things. Shouldn't need xrecovery.
Place ROM zip on sd card, then press back repeatedly when booting to enter recovery. (You may want to use CM to make a nandroid backup now.) Choose flash custom zip, and choose the ROM zip file you just put on the SD card.

I connect my phone to pc companion and it is recognize. I have installed CM11 on my phone, so I think your bootloader is unlocked.
So then you flash experimental kernel and then wipe cache/data/dalvik cache and flash zip.
Press thanks if I helped you

No, go to cwm recovery and do full wipe (cache, data, dalvik-cache) and then choose install zip from sdcard and install rom zip (don't unzip before).

between 1 and 2 steps you must root your phone. To do this follow this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-u/u-development/ics-noob-proof-root-via-flashtool-t1933985
2) you don't need unzip the kernel.elf, just move rom zip to the phone. In this video that you add he use kernel.elf, but you can use experimental kernel (has many features like overclocking so you can use this kernel) and flash like he done for kernel.elf
Then just follow instructions on your video

when you rooted phone (follow my link) flash this kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-u/u-development/kernel-experimental-v11c-t2326515 with flashtool. you don't need flash kernel.elf, because you flash experimental kernel.
then just go to cwm and follow instructions

Answer on your question :No it will not
if you have doubt if you have unlocked bootloader try again. i think this will help you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-u/issues/guide-beginners-how-to-unlock-t1971363
I didn't know that you have b.1.54 firmware
To root you must first flash B.1.10 kernel here: http://www.4shared.com/file/LcgUNFYl/Xperia_U_ICS_404_kernel_nu.html
Than root wtih these http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-u/u-development/ics-noob-proof-root-via-flashtool-t1933985
Than flash b.1.54 kernel here: http://www.4shared.com/file/ob4lM4PB/xperia_u_611B154_World_kernel.html
to istall jeally bean only flash experimental kernel:http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-u/u-development/kernel-experimental-v11c-t2326515 and copy rom zip to phone. you don't neeed to have rooted phone.
Then go to cwm and follow instruction to flash rom
I hope i help you and sorry for my bad english

i follow this steps i want to find it works or not ???
my xperia Z2 D6503, has build number 17.1.A.2.69, unlocked bootloader, and rooted
im planning to update it to .314, how can i do this? is it ok to update (.314) at sony pc companion? i know my root will be lost, so i should re-root again, no problem for me. but updating in pc companion with my rooted .69, should there be no problems at all?
i have a backed up rom (.69) with nut dual recovery, if any problems can i boot again in recovery? im thinking because root will be lost, recovery should also be lost.
or
can i flash new roms here like aroma? or any modded roms, i believe this roms are from build .314, from stock .69?
i read about flashing this customs rom, but other requires that the base roms should be .314
im so sorry if i have lots of questions, and im reading all the facts here in forum about Z2, im just careful enough not to mess up my Z2. i had xperia Z before and done lots of flashing new roms and root, but just to be careful with my Z2..
thanks in advance for any kind of info/replies.

the easiest way to do this is to use flashtool and a FTF
just simply exclude Data
i dont think you can flash across stock based rom versions without data wipe, it hasnt worked any time i tried, i used flashtool instead
- do i need to explain how to do this?
links
FTF
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2759934
Flashtool

a million thanks
thank you very much.. this is a big info on me..
If you are rooted & bootloader unlocked then OTA update & PC companion updates will fail with modified software error message.
Like Envious_Data said you would need to use FlashTool & untick data in the wipe options to keep your data, you will lose root & the dual recoveries but you can easily use EasyRoot to root again then use the installer version of [NUT] dual recoveries.
I had some issues with SuperUser with data wipe unticked so ended up doing full wipe in FlashTool.
Good luck
use flashtool is very fast...
cant see the firmware on flashtool
i had downloaded the stock rom .314 RU, from the given list of Stock Roms on that page, the file is in Zip, when i moved the zip file on flashtool/firmware i cant see the ftf file. all i see is Device: X10, Version: V1, Branding: BLRelock
am i doing wrong?
If the FTF file is in a zip or rar archive file then you will need to extract it first, open the zip file & if there is one file in it with FTF extension then drag it from the zip to the firmwares folder in flashtool.
eg if you have installed flashtool to program files directory in windows open the zip file then browse to the flashtool\firmwares folder & then drag the zip file to the firmwares folder, it should then appear in flashtool when you click the flash button, just make sure you select the firmware FTF file & NOT the X10_V1_BLRelock.ftf file.
Thanks for the Help Guys
Thank you very much
Im now updated to .314 and searching for an update to .402
the one i downloaded zip file has no ftf extension, i think its a stock rom in rar file and is installable in recovery mode, so i search and find a file w/c is in unbranded-Australia with ftf extension
im now rooted in .314 and searches for a good ROM for my Z2
Again. Thanks for the help Guys... You're all the best. :good: :good:
Olla guys ,
so i have unfort bricked my old u20i but can still get into flash mode and use flash tools to flash but i am struggling to find a working rom that will give stock kernal / rom as i am sure thats where i went wrong flashing a custom rom that had custom kernel in it

but it wont show up in flash-tools when its in firmware folder so cant flash it to u20i
any one got any ideas ot files i can use to get back alive the boot-loader is locked hence the brick
