Hello,
I locked my bootloader after successfully installing root, but the thing is that I locked it without uninstalling root, and after locking it I get an error that says "Your device has failed a routine safety check and will not boot". It can boot to everything but the OS.
Is there any way to unbrick it? Thanks
(Long story short: Softbricked device with locked bootloader. It boots into fastboot, EDL, and download mode (Doesn't boot into recovery or Android)

Which variant of V60 are you working with?If it's any other variant other than AT&T just use LGUP,and the factory kdz to restore it.

I tried using LGUP with the most updated kdz file that I could find (V600TM20n_00_USC_US_OP_0223.kdz), but I get an error that says "Error 0x5319, not allow to change the device (NA2_US>NA5_US)" and it stops at 4%.

This error means that the kdz file that you tried to use is a older version that what you had installed

this looks like downgrading from Nougat to Marshmallow may be blocked on the H831 when using LGUP.
as shown in the screenshot.. your phone is on Nougat (20A) but you are trying to flash a Marshmallow KDZ (10D).
Obtain the 20A (or higher) KDZ for your phone model and that should flash in LGUP.
An alternative to flashing the KDZ would be trying to run a factory reset (wiping user data). You can do this from the settings menu on your phone.. or by booting into stock recovery menu. The G5 All-n-one thread on XDA has steps for how to boot into recovery if unsure.
Some users have stated that they have been able to downgrade from N to M with a combination of LGUP 1.14 + UPPERCUT and LGUP 1.11 and DLL MSI. There are downgrade threads in the G5 section here on XDA for more info on that. Not all models support this downgrade though (even though anti-rollback isnt set). You could technically root the phone then manually flash each and every partition to downgrade but thats risky. But to anyone capable and knowing how to do that.. yes that would work as long as you aren't downgrading fuse version.

That fixed my problem. Thank you
Hi guys,
I just f*** my phone!
I had updated my phone G5 RS988 unlocked edition in the version Rs98821b !
I wanted to downgrade it to the version RS98811c .
I installed lg drives , LGUP_Store_Frame_Ver_1_14_3.msi and uppercut !
I started uppercut loaded the kdz file and the phone was stuck at 5% on the screen or at 11% in the LGUP .
It gets out 10% error ERROR CODE: 0x2BC, Invalid command response code = 0x80000121.
I tried to reboot the device but it is stuck at the Firmware Update(Download Mode) .
Any suggestion ?
Maybe I need any other version of KDZ???
ok guys after some read I fixed the problem by installing the firmware "RS98810h_01_0303.kdz"
So now is possible to downgrade throught twrp or not?

You are now stuck on Brightpoint firmware that is not for the unlocked version. Your best bet is to follow the instruction on this thread.:

Yes bro I fixed it.
But I dont remember very much.
What I did was to install again the same firmware that was the phone not to try to downgrade and after it I install the downgrade version through TWRP.
But I am not sure for this because has passed more then 8 months.

Hi Brother,
I have and LG G5 RS988 (Full Stock + No Root), so it was in RS988 21D Andorid 7.0 Firmware
I wanted to downgrade it, so I downloaded RS988 11C Android 6.0 KDZ file and tried to flash it through LG UP but it stucked at 10% and gave an error, and device was soft bricked So, I had to download the RS988 10H Brightpoint firmware which luckily got me out of bricked state and firmware is running fine, But i did some research and got to know that I cannot unlock my bootloader in this Brightpoint firmware..
So now i want to unlock my bootloader, what should I do now or is there any way to somehow go to RS988 11C ????

Thanks for answering bro, I've solved my issue.........
hi v10 folks,
just bought this v10 mobile 3 days before. it came with 5.1 android version, so thought of upgrading it and found some weird observations.
1. on connecting mobile to LG Bridge, model shows as H901 but update shows as F600S30D :crying:
2. downloaded lg phone info app and saw the provider name as SK Telecom
i have attached three screenshots of my mobile phone. is this a genuine t mobile version ? what needs to be done to upgrade my phone to Nougat ??? instead of bricking my phone thought of taking your suggestion guys
thanx in advance
Do NOT use LG Bridge, or you will brick your phone. Dunno where you got your phone, but it has an F600 IMEI, so LG Bridge thinks you need F600 firmware.
There is a v20L KDZ floating around here somewhere. Grab it, and put your phone in download mode (pull the battery / put the battery back in / hold volume up / plug USB cable in -- you don't have to hit the power button). Once you are in download mode, you can flash the KDZ with LG UP. That will get you to MM 6.0.1 which is still rootable using the dirtycow method (if you care about rooting). If you don't care about rooting, I am uploading the v30b Nougat KDZ right now. It is not rootable with any currently known methods. If you do want root, root on v20L, and then I will also be posting an update.zip that will take you to v30b and keep root.

My goodness, thanks for the prompt reply buddy, you saved my @SS im seriously not worried for root or bootloader unlock. im ok with stock nougat without root. so which kdz i need to flash ? im confused
As far as I know, no one has uploaded the Nougat KDZ yet, so I am in the process of uploading it. Google drive is being REAL slow. Since you don't care about root, you can use the same method that I described above (get into download mode, and use LG UP to flash the KDZ). I will make a post just a soon as it finishes uploading.
You might want to take this time to be SURE that you don't want root, because once you flash Nougat, there will more than likely never be a way to root this phone unless another exploit in the Linux kernel can be found...

No if you update h90130b your phone will be a hardbrick.
You have to upgrade F600S30d But you might lose the network !!!
@SandyKick If you can return that phone for an exchange, you might want to. As @dodo73 said, (in not so many words) you are boned. You are going to have to take a risk either way, but the safest route since adb sees the device as an F600, is to flash the F600 firmware. If you lose network, you can then try flashing the H901 modem. Let us know how it goes, but you are probably going to have to do SOME kind of fixup -- it will not be a clean flash / upgrade / happy phone
EDIT: If you flash the F600 firmware and brick your phone, that is also easy to fix -- and you will know that you DO need the H901 firmware.

I dont think going straight from 5.1.1 to nougat is a good idea. And after 1 hr of download if lg up is going to say incorrect kdz then why time waste
@SandyKick first we have to upgrade it to 6.0 to see everything goes welll then decide to upgrade it to 7.0
I have been searching for v20L kdz link but which model it is the huge problem
as we can not flash H901 kdz.
f600L?
F600s?
F600K?
There are three model with several updates. :/ Pretty confusing right.

Hi guys, i recently bought an used LG G5, after checking out the IMEI with an LG representative via email, it turns out i have the marketing version. I tried upgrading to 8.0 on my own using the regular software update on the phone with no success. I tried using LG Bridge, where it says that "your phone is up to date" however after i press ok for that message, it says that there is an update available "H85010DX". After i click to continue to get to the downloading phase i get the error message "The update cannot be downloaded because there was a problem with the server"
Knowing all of this, is there a way, no matter what for me to upgrade to Oreo? Thanks for ur time guys!
Try with officila KDZ upgrade for H850, using Uppercut and LGUP.

Nice! Before trying to flash the KDZ, have you tried to unlock the bootloader with the official LG method? That would allow and easier and safer upgrade via TWRP.

AND IT WORKED PERFECTLY!!!!! I Used a weird ass 100 views guide on youtube hahahahaa

Odd. Did you flash the twrp image, and then boot the image? as per the WTF instructions?
What command, specifically, are you entering, and then getting this message?
Sounds like twrp didn't install. Make sure you go through all the steps from WTF correctly

Normally we only see that on U.S. T-Mobile H932 which has crappy McAfee installed. Has to be uninstalled before factory reset or you get that error message. Do you have something like that installed?

Personally I have never seen that McAfee stuff on my H932, but maybe it's something you have to deliberately install first.
But we have had others report about this error. As I have posted before, I think it is just "something" (McAfee or whatever) trying to save you from wiping the phone in a way that would trigger Android Factory Reset Protection: The entire point of FRP is to render the phone useless to anyone but the legitimate owner, in case it is wiped from outside the OS while an account is active in the OS. That is a sensible protection. I always wondered why LGs Master Reset (using the buttons) doesn't warn about this before proceeding with its wipe.
But if indeed the error reported by OP is caused by such "protection against unintended triggering of FRP" then the solution should be to remove the Google account in the OS before performing any actions that would wipe the phone outside the OS (LGUP, Master Reset, TWRP etc). Alternatively, perform a Factory Reset from inside the OS first, which also will remove the account in a way that doesn't trigger FRP.
Arguably, this should be mentioned in the various root/WTF/Frankenstein guides, since FRP can have unintended consequences, say in case a user flashes the phone back to stock before selling it or sending it in for repair, and doesn't remove his/her account first. In that case the phone will (or should) demand that the same account be entered on first boot -- and the new owner or repair center would be stuck.
But maybe LGUP Refurbish mode clears FRP, and that's why we don't get more complaints about it...
I apologize if this turns out to be completely unrelated to the error reported by OP
Don't worry I've been through this problem and solution ia simple.
-Boot the phone in normal.
-Plug in the usb cable in your phone and connect to the computer.
-Then type "adb reboot bootloader". When u boot into fastbooot then type "fasboot boot recovery or whatever u named the file.
-Then u will boot into twrp.
I was sold a refurbished v30 off Amazon that had this kill switch enabled also when trying to go into TWRP. I had to return it because it might have been stolen.

I bought a V30 on ebay, is a LS998 Frankenstein, the problem is that the installed ROM is the AS998 and not the US998, it has the kill switch problem. Some way to solve it? I can not access fastboot and I can not install the ROM US998 from LGUP. I tried installing the KDZ US998 from LG UP with Partition UP option but it does not boot. Some way to return to the LS998 ROM?

There are no public LS998 KDZ available.
Which US998 KDZ did you try? If you read the Frankenstein instructions you need to start with US998 Nougat first.
Yes, of the North America V30 variants, only US998 has full fastboot flash commands.

The phone came with the ROM AS99820b (Oreo) :crying:, try to install US99810d and US99820b KDZ. Only the Partition DL option works in the LGUP application, but the phone not boot. The other options show Error: 0x4, Not support cross model download AS998 to US998 . Do you know any way to jump to the US ROM?

Do you know if the previous ways to root the LG G works on the V30?

And do you get the cross flashing error when trying to install US998 10D Nougat?

I ran across this before where some dealer probably used Octopus box to convert LS998 to AS998 and the new owner couldn't then convert to anything else...
All I can suggest is you try Board DL or Refurbish mode.
Is wiping the system partition the same thing as factory data reset? Will that trigger ye' old kill switch?
I ask, because I've run into the cross-flash warning once before while trying to flash US998 while on VZ996. To get rid of that message, I simply wiped my system partition in TWRP and was then able to use LGUP with the US998 KDZ.
So if you can wipe your system partition, then maybe it will get you to a spot where you can kdz?
I got it!
After many attempts, use a LGUP that I found in the LG G7 forum, the difference is that it was from CLI, restore the KDZ Nougat, when restarting appeared a screen with the android doll and the text without command. The next step was not clear, I pressed all the buttons with different convincing. The phone restarted several times and remained in the same window, in one of those attempts I went to the LG logo and to the initial configuration, the phone was blocked by google. Surely this is the reason why the seller installed the ROM AS998.
Turn off the phone and from LGUP update to the Oreo version. Again the error of blocking by google. On YouTube I found a tutorial to bypass this step. Now I am in the US99820b version. I followed the steps to unlock the bootloader, I had a problem with the USB cable, I must use a good quality cable. The problem of the message "factory data reset is disabled by kill switch" continues, but I can enter TWRP from fastboot.
I will try to install a ROM from TWRP and see if the message disappears.

You can also enter TWRP using the Recovery Reboot app I recommend in the WTF instructions.
US998 20B is old (but necessary for bootloader unlock). You should update to US998 20H. Download 20E, 20F, 20G, 20H and dirty flash back-to-back, using TWRP auto queue function -- with flashing Magisk last.

Excellent, I'm going to try LineageOS first, where do I find the 20E, 20F, 20G, 20H zip updates?

NO. You need to be on newest firmware before flashing any AOSP/Lineage ROMs due to recent changes. That's where people mess up. They try to go from old Oreo or even Nougat (H932) firmware to custom ROMs. You need foundation of newest firmware. Read post #2 of this sticky:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/how-to/root-v30-t3927154
A whole lot of recent posts in Lineage are about people not updating their stock firmware first.
Here's the US998 KDZ/TWRP-flashable thread:
