[Q] How powerful is App Inventor?

Does being simple mean it may loose some abilities?why do some people still use Eclipse if both programs can do the same thing?
is eclipse more advanced?
Thanks in advance :cyclops:

App inventor is good for easy programming of simple apps but cannot do much of what can be done in java (using eclipse which is a development environment, or ide, for it) or by using alternate languages like Basic4android.
You won't, for example, be able to create a game like dead space or nova 3 in appinventor, nor an app such as songify or flipboard its not advanced enough. But it is good and was my first avenue of android programming.

As said above, it is a lot more basic and simplistic that other methods of creating apps. It's a lot easier to learn and within a few hours most people who are somewhat adept with computers should be able to make an app or two. But you won't be able to create an app of the same calibre as the "big name" apps, you won't be able to create games with decent graphics or whatever.
If you're just learning, it's a great tool to start with. Then maybe move on to basic4android, it seems to be quite powerful while still remaining simple (I haven't used it personally, but it looks good). If you want to create really great apps, you're probably going to eventually need to move to apps made with the NDK, written in C++ (I think you still need to use a little Java as well).

Adobe Touch Apps no more, except for Photoshop

I posted this in the general Apps thread for XDA, but thought it to be a little more appropriate for here since I own a Fire HD and it applies to more tablets.

2021-2022 lists of domains and IP addresses to block any kind of malware, spyware, botnets, etc?

Hi,
My question is already in the title, but well to be super clear, comprehensive lists, updated regularly and free.
I used to work in IT way back, updating iptables with some of those lists, I would like to test in android with what is available nowadays.
I remember there were many websites that offered comprehensive lists based on different criteria, I am so rusty that I can't find nothing besides some lists hosted in github.
Of course I want to test in my androids.
Also if you have suggestions of some iptables kind of app for rooted devices (actually using VPN no root firewalls)

MVPS Hosts

How To Deploy MVPS HOSTS File on an Android Phone - Scott Brown Consulting
I have replaced the default HOSTS file on my Android device with the MVPS HOSTS file, a blacklist for blocking advertising, tracking and
www.scottbrownconsulting.com
In the past I used pfsense (a GUI for iptables) and spamhouse blocklists but now it's not free, I found this looking for alternatives www raedts biz/security/recommended-blocklists-for-pfblocker-pfsense/ that are raw IP CIDR lists but looking in it I found a copyright 2003-2020 maybe are not really maintained, anyway these list are used to protect servers, would be good to find something more related to Android.

Trigger reverse wireless charging without root

Hi. Just to preface that I'm not a developer and lack quite a bit of knowledge on app development.
I'm looking at a way to enable reverse wireless charging on a Samsung S20 Ultra so I can use it in automation apps like Tasker. Currently, Bixby routines doesn't allow it.
I've tried apps that monitor and trigger Intents and Activities but that's not working either.
Is there a way to achieve this?
Even if I'm using the android studio to make a simple app that toggles the reverse wireless charging. I'm not sure what libraries to import as this isn't a standard stock Android feature.
Ideally, I'd like the app to work for all the phones that have reverse wireless charging like Samsung/ Xiaomi/ OnePlus.
