Hello good evening colleagues. someone tried to delete game optimizing service i did it with twrp on my samsung s9 snapdragon and everything was fine, now try to remove it with my s10 lite with root explorer. and yes, all good, before deleting, I decided to make a backup of the folder system/app-private/game optimizing service when I got home and wanted to emulate dolphin game cube emulator, I noticed deplorable performance, a lot of lag.
I did not know what was happening, since one night before, I ran in 2k mario kart duble D. and now he did it with a lot of cut in any resolution. Well, I returned the folder with its files to its original path and everything returned to normal I did it because Samsung has limited its power in its equipment, but I was surprised when I removed that folder, the performance of the equipment plummeted. it cannot be frozen, it automatically returns to its normal state. I'll have to wait for UI 4.1 where samsung already leaves the option unlocked

Hi, I've got issues.
My GT i9205 will not run background apps for any length of time.
For example, if I am playing music (poweramp) and I go into any game, or fire up chrome/feedly/redditFlow, the music stops and the app icon for poweramp disappears. The access to the quick controls in my task bar is no longer there and if I switch back to the music app and press play again, it will not remember the last played point. Plus my game will get killed.
Another, possibly better example - if I fire up a more resource heavy game, tasker, swipepad, any kind of system monitor will die and their icons will disappear from the taskbar.
It also seems to be progressive, when it first started - maybe 3 months after getting the phone, I could still play games and some background apps would die, but some would stay. Now none stay and sometimes the games themselves die (while loading a level, it may kick me back out to whatever homescreen launcher I'm using).
There is also an issue whereby, when I reboot the phone, I will have to try 2/3 times as it tends to get stuck at the gently pulsating Samsung Logo and will not go further.
I'd had previous advice from someone who suspected a corrupted filesystem and recommended a factory reset, which I did. No joy, after same deal.
Last week I rooted the phone for the first time (nothing fancy just vcoreroot-v2.tar) and today I went to Sammobile and got the newest Stock ROM. Just used it with Odin and apart from Root disappearing, which was expected, I still have all the same problems.
I'm having a hard time finding a way to locate anybody else whose had the same issue and fast running out of ideas...
Any help would be much appreciated.
Its been about 3 weeks since I purchased my S6 edge (G925i), but it has always been showing this persistent lag when scrolling on almost any scrolling-based applications such as the Play Store (the worst), Instagram, Maps and even the Settings menu. I have re-installed the firmware via Smart Switch, cleared cache, basically everything that could be done in hopes of eradicating this issue. Does it happen with everyone else as well? Ive done the *#0*# touhscreen test and it didnt display any problems there. Do you think this could be a software issue? I've played with my mum's G4 and it was buttery-smooth when I was scrolling on it. Hell, it was even able to display some cool animations that came with the 5.6.8 Play Store update when I tap an app, while my S6 edge doesn't perform like that.
EDIT 1: Youtube link of lag on settings menu - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SE4VW8fNmB4
EDIT 2: I have uploaded 2 more videos displaying the lag, as mentioned by pratz82 its really odd how reviewers don't pick this up, especially when they go to the Play Store to download apps.
Scrolling in Play Store: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPOf0knKmvI
Scrolling in Maps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ks5vzRw6QUM
You´re not alone. It bugs me that all the reviews never mentioned it. I´m starting to think Samsung is paying the reviewers big bucks....
Root, custom rom and greenify shouldn´t be needed on a 2015 flagship device to make it usable.
My Galaxy S4 and Nexus 4 are more fluid than this.... (though admittedley both rooted with custom roms) Still doesn´t justify them being on par or more fluid than a 3 year newer flagship phone..
Mine does it too. It's not just the browser, it's anything that requires scrolling. Out of the box I would also get:
- Stuttering in scrolling across the map (all apps)
- Pressing app drawer every so often it doesn't animate, stutters and apps just pop up
- Device is locked, I unlock and go to home screen to be blank while elements randomly and slowly show up on screen
Few more odd, less-than "project butter" smooth. This is my first non Nexus device since the Galaxy SII so I don't know how other phones are.
Mine doesnt do this. Are you using a custom rom? If you're using stock, which firmware version is it?
I am not necessarily an expert, but here are some things i would personally try in order to figure out the cause:
1. If youre rooted, try changing the cpu governor to "performance". use a free app called "kernel aduitor" (not a typo) and you'll find the option to switch it from interactive to performance in the sidebar menu under CPU. If it resolves, it may mean your issue is related to your kernel's cpu management.
2. make sure you do not have power saving mode enabled. This mode imposes limits on various components of the phone to save power at the cost of performance.
3. Download a process monitor from the play store and confirm that no processes are using large amounts of cpu, Alternatively you can utilize the built in process monitor of your phone by going into settings>about device, and repeatedly tapping "build number" until a notification appears confirming that you have enabled developer options. Now go back to Settings>developer options (towards the bottom of the list)>Show CPU Usage. This will let you see the processes that are using the most cpu and how much of it theyre using.
4. If you have enabled developer options using the procedure above, navigate to them and enable "force gpu rendering" and see if that helps at all.
5. Make sure your cpu/battery temperatures are not unusually high. A good app for this is AIDA64. you can find temperature stats under the "Thermal" section. Typical battery temperatures are somewhere between 30 - 40 while the phone is not charging. CPU temps above 60 may indicate that something is causing your phone to work too hard. Eventually the phone will begin to enforce limits on the cpu in attempt to lower the temps, resulting in less-than-optimal performance.
6. Check how much free memory you have under the application manager. If you are rooted, you can try downloading terminal emulator and entering
Code:
su -c "sync; echo 3 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches"
to regain a good deal of memory if your available memory is low.
7. If you are using a custom rom, make sure it doesnt disable scrolling cache. Maybe ask the developer if you are unsure.
always on performance gov can not be the solution..you will always power your CPU to max
Out of the box the Galaxy S6 lags and stutters while scrolling and it is very apparent. If someone has a device that does not, that is a defect because this is normal behavior of this device. I'm not basing this off of my personal phone only...between a few of my friends and family, the models in the stores, they all do it. This is something iOS has down correctly.
My playstore is terrible, when it comes to scrolling and selecting animations. However, I had two other units that didn't suffer from this.
No idea why...
I highly doubt that this is a hardware defect of some sort, if not this is a serious issue that needs to be raised to Samsung, looking at the number of people that are also affected by this. Maybe this only applies to G925I units with Cat 6 data speeds? But heres just my two cents on this. Perhaps maybe due to the closed source nature of the Exynos processor, developers were unable to properly optimise their applications for the device, which is why on some, if not on most occasions, Qualcomm devices perform more smoothly, since kernel sources are consistently released for most variants of the SnapDragon processors. Even my S4 performs better in Google apps such as the Play Store and Google Maps. I really want to avoid rooting my S6 edge, just for this once, so I hope the fix won't involve the need to dig into the system to solve this issue. Im still running 5.0.2, I heard 5.1.1 was not a major difference, but I'm just hoping for the best. We deserve better from our devices running the supposedly "fastest" Exynos CPU that Samsung is so proud of. One thing that still boggles me though, is how even Samsung made apps are lagging, especially the Settings menu, and theres also a split second lag when on the recents carousell.
Same here. Started after 5.1.1 update. Thinking about selling the phone, $%@! Samsung. Will miss the camera though.
Hello!
I've recently purchased what I thought was a feature phone with long battery life, the Vodafone Smart A9 (VFD 120) for the purpose of putting my "home" SIM card in while I travel. Surprisingly, this phone actually runs Android! Albeit a very locked down version of Android without Google Play Services. In hindsight I probably should've purchased a different cheap phone and turned off data and location to get a similarly long battery life, at the time the price of $49NZD ($32USD) didn't seem like a bad idea. For the sake of interest I decided to try and sideload an application onto this phone, it seems like a decent companion to take hiking as I lost my last phone off the side of a mountain.
I've tried a few things to sideload an app or gain some sort of privileged access to the phone. I haven't really been up to date with the Android Hacking/Dev scene in a good while as my personal need to root has diminished greatly in the last few years.
Things I've tried:
Enable ADB in Developer Mode by pressing Build Version a bunch of times. Unfortunately pressing Build Version does nothing.
Look for settings to enable applications from other sources. This doesn't exist in the security settings.
Tried installing an app from the file manager. This doesn't work either.
Boot into recovery to do "anything". The phone shows up in ADB as "Unauthorised". There aren't any settings except a bunch of hardware tests and factory reset.
The device only has OTA updates but I imagine that even if I grab the file and spoof the download URL with a modified ROM, it wouldn't pass a hash/signature check.
Is there anything else I could realistically try? I'd just like to know if I've missed anything glaringly obvious.
Thanks for taking a look at my post!
phone is now 13nzd from harvy norman did you ever work out a way to load apps
If Android device is Wi-Fi enabled and has browser installed, you at any time can install an app from one of the several existing app markets: Google Play Store isn't the only one though it's highly recommended to use it due to security reasons.
Hi I was wondering if You could tell me how to boot into Recovery mode for this phone.
Background:
I wanted to play a game on my unrooted Huawei Nova 2s (Stock ROM EMUI 8.0) which didn't have GMS preinstalled. The game unfortunately requires GMS to run. I read somewhere some apps can create a virtual environment that has built-in google framework/services so you can just clone apps to the environment and run them as if google services are present. I tried two apps mentioned in the article: VirtualXposed with microg and X8 Sandbox. Sadly, neither of them worked out, the game launched in VirtualXposed couldn't go beyond a data loading screen, X8 Sandbox simply halted at environment launching screen.
What I did:
A few days later, I came up with this stupid idea, i.e. try to run X8 Sandbox in VirtualXposed. The app itself seemed to run okay in VirtualXposed (no active Xposed module if I recall correctly), but instead of halting, it crashed while trying to launch the sandbox environment. I then gave up and removed X8 Sandbox from VirtualXposed and was about to delete the X8 Sandbox apk.
Result:
When I opened up ES file manager, I noticed used internal storage reduced from 19 GB to 8 GB. I knew something seriously went wrong. It was 19 GB right before I tried the nested virtual environment thing. I did a quick navigation, all photos, videos, documents, downloaded files along with tons of folders in /storage/emulated/0/ disappeared. Only those systematic folders (the ones with small icons) remained, but also got emptied (eg. the Download folder). It seemed apps were still in the drawer, not sure if I could actually launch them and if the data stored in apps was gone. SMS also seemed unaffected. I was too scared to keep investigating. To prevent further data loss, I turned off the phone.
My Question:
1. How could I get the lost data back? They got wiped out in such a weird way, I have a feeling it's worse than just being deleted. I probably will try to use software like Dr. Fone, FonePaw to run a recovery scan tomorrow. If you are aware of any better way of data recovery, please let me know. Very much appreciated!
2. How could this happen in the first place? I am by no means a pro and it was a heart-sinking moment when I realized so much data was gone. I wish I knew more about Android, maybe this would never happen.
Thank you very much for reading this long post! Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
@ph7jlfr6
your contribution shows impressively what should never be done. Maybe it helps others to avoid the mistakes you made. And: This all has nothing to do with Android OS itself. Basically any Android phone should be used as intended by OEM/Carrier. For good reason HUAWEI have their own app store.
Anyway, you know the door to any Android device is ADB? Do you have USB debugging enabled in phone's Android Settings -> Developer options? Do you have verified an ADB connection can be established? Has phone's Android OS got rooted - that's a requirement for the recovery apps you mentioned?
I use the tablet mostly for playing. And I am used to move between them without issues. Unless I open a bunch of other apps or browser with multiple tabs and what not. The games remain running without issues or at least they used to. Normally I don't update anything, except for the games because they are live service and I can't play them if I don't. After learning that this update would improved multitasking I updated.
Ever since I can't keep the games open if I leave them for like 20 minutes or maybe less, haven't time it.
Using it as I did, closed them. So I decide to clear all and only play one. After a notification, went to that game for daily tap immediately went back to the prev game and it had close, which cost me a match. After finishing what I was doing on that game. I went to the settings to see if something was amiss. And all the apps I remember disabling that I couldn't uninstall like Youtube are still disabled. I don't have any social media app like FB or anything that would be constantly running. And went back to the game. Lo and behold had to restart again. I checked Dev options and Apps "Background process limit" still standard. Memory is at 4~4.5 with so much free I don't get I it's been so aggressive. Have 66 apps on "deep sleeping" have things like digital well being and other monitoring stuff also off. And the only thing I changed was enabling the "Labs" to allow Multi window for all apps. And just now, went to homescreen while I picked something from the kitchen, I know I didn't take more than 5 min because the screen didn't even timed out. And when I tap on a game, had to relaunch.
God this is ridiculously annoying. And non of the games updated since. I only updated a couple of apps from store.
And worst, I updated believing it would be better at multitasking. Like it would be smarter when using split screen, but it isn't. Maybe it does improve for Samsung apps. But I've seen nothing good from anything I use. And changes to the UI could've been implemented better. Like having dual pane only when you are holding the tablet lanscape. I remember having very old android device that had dual pane but revert to single if you hold them portrait.
I'm considering doing a full reset. But I'm hoping not too. Between the apps and games, which most are 5GB+ up to nearly 10GB it would take me a very long time to set everything again, Easily a full day for some games. (Very bad old, first gen copper line DSL)
Is anyone have any type of similar issues. Cause it would suck if I reset it and that's just how it works now. And it wants me to use the "keep open" feature. Which I don't like, I do like to use the clear all.
One of the main reason I got this particular tablet was for the multitasking. This is the first device I didn't try rooting out of the bat because of a warranty and what not and decided to give it a go as is. Now I'm not sure If I'm just spoiled by years for rooted and heavily modified devices. Or this is just a Samsung thing.
@Omizuke: Not sure if this is related to RAM management, but I'm also on September update. When I update apps via Play Store/Galaxy Store, the device will completely freeze for as long as 30 seconds. It just locks up, I can't do anything. Can't pull down the status bar, nav buttons don't work. Then suddenly it returns to normal. I get the same thing when connecting to WiFi or pairing via Bluetooth. ROM is clean flashed with Odin, i also did a factory reset.
This didn't happen at all on the July update.
I'm not seeing any issues with app killing, as you've described it. All opened apps continue running and I can return to them on demand. I play a lot of games, COD Mobile in particular, and I switch apps a lot between rounds.
I feel you on the not wanting to set up everything again. I save cached copies (APKs/obbs) of my games/apps on my SD card, so I can set everything up without Internet. Just use an app like Total Commander/X-plore to copy the apps.
