Got a tablet. - Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 Questions & Answers

My uncle recently gifted me a tablet he got from work that was about to be terminated. I found out that it was enrolled into their device management system (Knox) and I've been trying to release it. I ended up considering rooting the device or installing a new firmware, but I'm not quite sure if this would solve my problem. Can you guys give me suggestions on what to do to release my tablet and start using it?
PS. My uncle is the person in charge of the devices in his company, the person who used to be in charge never provided access to the knox device manager, and since newer devices are managed using a different tool and these tablets were all replaced they never tried to recover these.
Please help.

Pioneer R1 tablet rooted!

This is just for anyone who wants to root the Gigabyte rebranded pioneer R1 7 inch tablet.
After spending alot of time looking all over online in various forums and trying each of the many used root applications
including:
SRSRoot :failed
Framaroot :not supported
Root with Restore by Bin4ry :failed
SuperOneClick :failed
and trying thru cmd line in the ASDK :failed (couldn't copy to temp folder, probably my own inexperience using ASDK)
I went to the more questionable Kingo :failed
and even more questionable Vroot :success!
replaced the Chinese Su with one from google play
and then removed a chinese app that had been installed along with root
VRoot_1.7.3.4863_english_cid1005_7337ba1e_89

Hey everyone - I recently purchased this tablet as well and can confirm that rooting was successful with VRoot English V. 1.7.3.4863. Finding the file was a pain in the ass, but I finally found a copy.
It might set off your antivirus, but I didn't have any side effects from running. When it runs, it downloaded the ADB drivers for my device. I think that is why it reaches out to its Chinese server. Once I was finished, I deleted and ran MalwareBytes, AVG, and another antivirus to confirm that there were no residual effects. Seems to be clean and false alarm.
Best of luck either way!

1) dont know it just hung on updating for hours.
2) we currertly dont know how to get it into recovery mode , 1 recessed reset button and a power button, most boots into recovery use vol+ and vol-
3)I was on 4.2.2 before this happened
4)it updated itself on reboot, auto download over wifi I think
5)I havent talked to Cs yet only sent an email which remains unanswered until monday at the earliest
6)ravensmoke called Cs and they told him
"The Pioneer people didnt want to do any troubleshooting. told me to send it to them to fix and that if they found anything wrong other than hardware issue i am liable for the charges on top of the shipping cost"

7)possible to download the "pioneer r1 update app" in playstore and update from there
8)pick up your tablet keep all receipts walmart does up to 7 day refunds
i dont have the tablet yet but i ordered it from walmart online and it says it comes with a 1yr warrenty.
so your telling me as soon as i boot it up its going to update to the firmware that causes the boot loop?
or do u have to update myself with the update app?.
when did u update it?
and is it working now?

it does have a warranty that covers hardware issues and not shipping
its entirely possible , I didnt have an issue untill friday when I rebooted the tablet
I didnt update it, it did so automatically
no, Cs was not open on sat-sun
ravensmoke42069 said Cs told him there was no way to go into recovery so he would have to send it to them to fix
brandonlee96 after the day Ive had with both sides of pioneers Cs, I advise you to pick up the tablet and immediately head to the Cs desk and return the tablet.
If you keep it and run into any problems they will not troubleshoot the problem, they simply want you to ship them the item you paid for and pay for shipping as well as find the issue is not covered under warranty and bill you for "fixing" their screw up.This is not how a company should be operating selling consumer goods w/ warranty. I've had to return electronics before and while I can understand paying the shipping to their company, the threat that "if it's anything other then a hardware issue, we will be forced to charge you before returning the item to you" is utter bs.
I call Scam and I will not be purchasing anything bearing a pioneer logo ever again.

[Q] Unable to root XT910

Hi Folks,
Hopefully of all the experts out there somebody would be kind enough to help me out here.
I have been the proud owner of XT910 for the last two years now and the set has given me absolutely no woes, however lately due to various advents in the smartphone world it seems now is the time to try my hand at rooting this absolute beauty. After a week's try using all sorts of ways i have unfortunately not been able to do so
Model - XT910
OS - JB 4.1.2
1. Tried the razr_blade exploit as that's the most known and used one on windows however that doesn't work in my case. I am getting all sorts of errors when running the utility (mostly permission denied). The boot loader is locked and when accessing the filesystem using adb i can't go inside most of them as not rooted.
2. Next i have tried the motorola's own unlock code thing but unfortunately once again the phone's not listed in the supported ones so this one's gone down the drain as well.
3. It seems the only legit way out there (unless you guys disagree) is trying to jailbreak using Oracle Virtual box (the SMB thing) but here's the twist for this to work both the phone and the laptop must be connected via wifi, i don't have a wifi network where both can see each other + there's no way you can create a adhoc n/w on the lappy and recognise that on the phone.. due to google's infamous removal of this support starting JB it seems.
So, as you can see i seem to be royally stuck now with no way apparent to me to recover from this mess, i do and do need and want to root the beast so as to try overclock its potential with custom roms.
XDA is the most revered forums out there and i am so hopeful that one of you experts out there would come to my rescue, so long..
Regards Amit

Omate TrueSmart+ and TrueSmart-i

If I were to chose one I would go with the TrueSmart-i but both do not have the Google Play store. Also, aren't these specs similar to what we have seen already?

Yeah, how dare they. The TrueSmart has always been a broken product. Now they say since it's over 2 years old, software development has ended. As if it was ever finished in the first place! Don't waste your money on the crap from Omate, people. Their products are broken and their hardware specs fake promises.
For those who backed the original TrueSmart: have fun reading the comments on their announcement on Kickstarter. It's especially cute how they try to act like the TS was a properly functioning product and like they provide customer support, which they never did of course. (link)
Hi everyone. I also bought last week the Truesmart+ watch (maybe wasn't a good idea ). It is running Android 5.1 version, and has an built-in external µSD card support (didn't found this information nowhere).
I successfully succeed in rooting with iRoot via PC, then backing up with MTKdroid Tools. I tried to flash the "openrecovery-twrp-2.7.1.0-omatesmartwatch2" (build for Truesmart 1st version) with SP Flash Tool 3.13 that displayed the green logo at the end, meaning flash was successful. But even after using ADB commands ("adb reboot recovery") or using an APP like "Quick reboot" to boot in recovery mode, the watch displays for 1/8 seconds the Truesmart logo, then reboot in normal mode. Can someone help us please ?
maybe the /system/recovery-from-boot.p file is replacing the recovery on restart. I have had trouble taking ownership of this file however. something to look into?
Omate Rise ugly services

Ive received broken watch, after that Ive send it back to the omate office in HK, they promise me to refund the shipping back costs. As for now they received the parcel, they refuse to repair it and start the procedure of refund, the pay me on my paypal not the full amount as Ive pay on Indiegogo (the chose me to pay the 11.43 USD commision for this transaction) and refuse to refund me shipping back costs. Be aware of this scamers!!!

Could you please share the files for flastools that you got with MTKdroid tools? At this post some people are trying to find a ROM for the Ourtime X01 that is a copy of the Omate. https://forum.xda-developers.com/sm...ourtime-x01s-3g-smartwatch-phone-1gb-t3469741
Thanks in advance.

Attempting to Root a Nexus 6

My Nexus 6 has presented me with an interesting challenge. During my attempts/process to root my phone, inevitably, one must reboot your phone. And as the reboot takes place the phone always goes into the "Charge" mode and not the "File Transfer" mode that the phone was in as it began the root process. I'm at a cross in the road because I cannot complete the root process. The only option that has presented itself to me is to restart the phone. And while my phone works properly, it halts the root process. I have just purchased another USB cable that charges and transfers data/syncs to cover that question. Any hints would be appreciated. I have had this phone unlocked using Chainfire's Nexus Root Toolkit a while back. It worked flawlessly. I've not really been interested in a custom ROM/Kernel etc. but in continuing to research this area. I'd like to try and unlock then root the phone again. Any hints would be appreciated
If your phone got the January update from Google, they patched a ton of the "exploits" that previously were/can be used to root Android devices. These were pushed out to the Nexus line by Google and made available for OTA by wireless vendors otherwise. This could be the issue you're running into now. If you haven't updated, then I think you just may need to find an alternative rooting method, as the one you tried may not be 100% compatible or is missing some sort of command to direct the device to go into file transfer/download mode.

I really appreciate your perspective. And without a doubt I'll look around and see where this goes. Just reading about all the work that has taken place since I purchased the phone, the landscape is a lot more enticing.

please help sm-t377v 5.1.1 --- exfriend flashed a coustom operating system

well I have searched around and cant seem to find solution. I'm a newb that has been dealing with a former friend that flashed a custom build on my galaxy note e from Verizon. well it seems he can control and get my info from wherever he is. I bought a new computer seeing my others weren't equipped. the fact is I need to get my pad back. I had two previous accounts here one was paintmaster pro and the other masterhide. he somehow was able to make them un accessible to me. so is there a way to get my original os back? or just stop the remote access he has? PLEASE HELP I AM HAVING PHSYICAL SYMTOMS NOW DEALING WITH THE STRESS FROM THIS. the build # he used is LMY47x.T3773vvRU1AOL7 . I'm new but not stupid all I need is a little direction and advice. I bought flash drives one is 65gb on sale for17.99 at store plus new sd cards as he has something attached to them. I found Facebook katana and canary programs. I'm not tech savvy enough to just hook up to new computer and check only for the fact that I'm afraid he has something planted to get into my computer if he hasn't already.
There wouldn't be anything on the tablet that would be able to hijack your new computer, unless he works for the NSA.
You can follow the information found here http://droididea.com/update-verizon...6-0-t377vvru1bpd6-firmware-stock-marshmallow/ to update your tablet to the newest stock firmware. This will erase anything he would have done to it. You should also factory reset it as well. I suggest using the Odin method because if it's been modified, the OTA wouldn't work and Kies might not recognize.
