I am trying to sideload cyanogen mod. Whenever I boot the phone into TWRP, Windows 7 (64 bit) tries to install MTB USB Device drivers and fails.

MTB USB Device X Failed
I already uninstalled Android SDK Tools and re-installed, making sure that Google USB Drivers are installed. I also installed Motorola drivers, but that was at the start of my journey and I didn't take notes on the details.
I have no problems accessing the phone via USB when the phone is booted up normally. I also have no problems using fastboot when the phone is is bootloader mode.
I originally tried a number of ways to use CWM instead of TWRP, but was unsuccessful. I've posted those efforts in this forum and abandoned CWM after a while.
Has anyone who owns a Moto G actually been able to install CWM or install CyanogenMod using TWRP? I want to use adb rather than non-mainstream tools, and I'm not interested in rooting at the moment (though rooters are more likely to be familiar with issues at this level).
From further web search, this is the last news that I can find about MTP USB drivers when booted up in TWRP: <<erroneous URL removed (I can't re-find the correct webpage)>>
I'll continue sleuthing a bit more before looking at how to install cyanogenMode without sideload. But for now, it seems that the MTP issue remains (though I admit, I'm new to the whole smartphone thing and I could be wrong about that).
Afternote: I chose sideload so that I wouldn't have to worry about where the cyanogenMod zip file goes. From using adb shell to "ls" around, it seemed a bit confusing, and it wasn't obvious how the directory structure from "ls"ing around matched the 5-7 partitions that are on most Android file systems. In fact, entire subtrees seemed to repeat themselves at different parts of the tree.
I followed a suggestion on another forum and used the push method. I followed wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_falcon. I found that I needed to bookend sdcard with slashes: "/sdcard/".
I am now facing the (apparently commonplace) problem of being in an endless loop with the popup "Unfortunately, the process com.android.systemui has stopped. [OK]". I'm one step further, though. There seem to be many causes for this problem, with varying degrees of similarity in the symptom. I've not yet run across a case with exactly the same symptom, where the loop occurs at the language selection screen. Of the various circumstances that I've read about, the one that seems that it might be most relevant is the association of this error with an Italian keyboard app. In my case, the English (Canada) language seems to be selected, if I'm interpretting the graphics properly. I will try replacing the keyboard apk with one from a nightly. New territory.
The other causes are flipboard app, ART vs. Dalvik, and possibly a few others.
Someone suggested that I might try clearing data and cache on Google Play Framework. I googled how-to-clear-data-and-cache-on-Google-Play-Framework, and read www.androidpit.com/google-play-not-working. It seems that you have to be able to get the OS working before you can actually clear those Google Play data. I haven't been able to get beyond the language screen. I can't access the device via adb, either.
Afternote: I was able to press Next a few times in between the error message popups, and I got the the home screen. The devices shows as XT1032 in the Windows Explorer, but there's nothing in that "folder".
Update: I don't have any app beginning with the word "Google", so it seems that none of the above measures having to do with Google Play apply in my case. I suspect that this may be because I'm working with a virgin install of CyanogenMod. Looks like I'm still on search for a way ahead. I also tried switching the language from English (Canada) to English (US), based on the info I found online that the problem was due to a keyboard apk. No joy.....
Update: Another user had the same problem and solved it by reverting to CM 10 (www.reddit.com/r/cyanogenmod/comments/2gvmqu/cm11moto_g_comandroidsystemui_is_crashing_after). Looks like I have a way ahead.
I have had this problem on your ‘assist’ thread for two days now and had 101 views but no reply. I am trying here.
I am trying to put a more advanced rom from your site on to my Samsung 7.7 p6810.
Each time I try to install one I get a Status 7 error.
So far I have tried
lollipop_cm-12.1_20151006-unofficial-p6810.zip
omni-6.0.1_20160115-p6810-homemade.zip
Both have that error.
I started with cwm-20120710-p6810.tar
I thought that twrp might not produce the error so loaded:-
twrp-2.6.3.0-p6810.tar
I am using twrp and that still has the error.
I used Odin3_v3.10.6 to load the cwm and later the twrp.
I copied root.zip to the 7.7 and flashed that with the initially installed CWM
Can some kind soul suggest what I might be doing wrong? I see something about editing scrips in the zip files. I guess I could to that but (a) I am warned it is dangerous if the software is for the wrong machine and that is what I understand a Status 7 signal is saying.
And (b) it is going to be very tedious if I have to edit every new zip file as I experiment with your (nightly) upgrades.
Killing the Status 7 must be the way forward.
However, In desperation I have tried editing those first few lines of the updater script with Notepad ++ but I still get a Status 7 error.
Firstly I am getting no blue line on the TWRP progress bar - whereas I do on the Restore that I have to use rather more often than I would like.
My error message on a file that has those top lines removed from the script says:-
Applyparsedperms ; lstetfilecon of system/lost+found to ubject_r:system_file:s0 failed. Operation not supported on transport set metadata_recursive: some changed failed.
Then the Status 7 msg.
What should I try now, please?
Tony. London UK
I could not resist another try.
I flashed a newer version of TWRP. (Daniels 2.8.7.1) It worked fine as regards making a backup.
I then decided to install one of the errant roms and in the process wiped my whole machine. The right hand wipe button caused the damage. I was then left with a machine that would only produce TWRP.
However, having fiddle around so much over the last three days I guessed that if I used the recovery mode of TWRP it would be seen by my PC. I used Explorer to copy a root.zip, a lollipop zip and a marshmallow zip.
I used TWRP to install the root zip and it worked. I then took a flyer and put on the lollipop that had failed almost two dozen times before. Wowee, it installed.
I could see it was working so I have now put on the marshmallow. OK, I realise the marshmallow is not yet fully developed but I am only using this particular 7.7 to experiment with so that does not matter, yet.
Conclusion. I am not sure whether the newer TWRP is the solution or whether wiping the whole system cleared some rubbish.
Anyway. I am now there.
If anyone looks at this message I would value any comments - and also love to know how I configure a third party rom so it is recognised by google and the playstore. I want to re-install some of my apps and currently playstore does not know who I am.

nice
Does this update fixes the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth issues we have been experiencing? Thanks for your hard work.
Stuck at 20%
After rebooting to apply the update, it is stuck at 20% and will not move. This is on a Latitude 7350.
I had mounted it read-write in the past http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=67971055&postcount=22 . Removing the book option didn't help. Any ideas? Is there a boot option to ignore the update so I can get back to a functioning device on the old version?
Update worked flawlessly.

Verbose mode looks great. That option is not available when the update itself is locking up.
Is there a list (somewhere) of kerel command line params?
After a LOT of experimentation, I was finally able to get RemixOS (for PC) to boot on my Intel i5 tablet (Sony Vaio Duuo). That being said, I could only get it to boot if I remove most of the paramaters from the Android kernel command line (everything except hardware=permissive).
Is here a list published somewhere of valid Android kernel command line parameters for RemimOS (as well as info about what they do, and what are the valid param valis)???
Also, please note... Even when I did get build 207 to boot, I found an issue with the WIFI. It seems to work OK if you are connecting to a WIFI router that is broadcasting it's SSID, but if you try to connet to a router that does NOT broardcast it's SSID (for security reasons), it will not connect th the router even aftr you manually add the SSID to the router's list.. What's more, the on screen keyboard does not seem to work for configuring the WIFI during the bootup process.
NOTE: All of this works fine on Android-x86 6.0.
After download, I got old version in new version's folder. Now is ok. downloaded via torrrent. Thanks.

This build doesn't seem to work if I have a "data.img" (data partition file) in the RemixOS directory. If I delete the "data.img" file, it will boot. But then, after I create another empty data.img file, it hangs during boot.
Just downloaded from torrent. and it is ok now. I got right version. Thanks alot.
The other hdd cant access anymore after update.
Why is kodi not getting fukk screen? How to fix that? Please help!
Thanks

Hello,
I'm having an odd issue with Remix OS for PC, and wanted to see if anyone else experienced this and hopefully found a resolution. Please see the bottom of the thread for info on my PC setup. My laptop is definitely more than powerful enough to handle remix, and it used to run fine, but now I seem to have the following issues after not booting into Remix for a while:
***Wifi does not automatically connect, it only connects if I click the wifi icon in the tray (then it connects to my network automatically)
***Nearly all apps will not open, including the Settings app. I'll click on an icon on the desktop, and the icon lights up, registering my click, but the app never opens and the icon stays lit as if something froze. However, I can still "swipe" from the left desktop to the right one, and vice versa.
***When attempting to install an app (Eventually, without any rhyme or reason that I've noticed, I can open the Play Store and maybe the settings app), the app hangs on Installing after it downloads. I've tried waiting a good 20 minutes, but I know the apps install much quicker on this laptop, and I've tried this with small apps.
***Similarly to the above, clicking the Remix OS menu button does nothing as well.
With those symptoms in mind, it seems like there's something holding the system back, but the actual GUI performance is fine. For example, there's no lag or hesitation when an app finally eventually opens or when I click around through the Settings app (when it finally opens). It doesn't seem to only be with graphic intensive apps either, as I tried a simple text/memo app and when that one eventually opens, the desktop background is black and the app window is black with only a menu near the top.
My attempts to fix it
So far, I've tried running an e2fsck -f data.img command to repair the data.img file. It didn't appear to report any issues and the problem did not go away. I've rebooted the thing about a billion times, no luck! Getting into the Settings app is hit or miss and I haven't really had any idea of what setting might help, and installing third party apps appears to not be an option either.
The only other option I could think of would be to backup my data.img and reinstall the OS, and then restore the data.img file, but this seems like it will restore the problem with it. Also, I haven't experienced any problems in Windows, so I don't think there is any issue with the drive. Sorry for such a long thread, just wanted to be detailed!
Any ideas are much appreciated!
My PC: Lenovo Ideapad y510p
Windows OS: Windows 10 64-Bit
Remix OS for PC: 3.0.207 dual booted with the above Windows 10 installation
Hard Drive: 500GB SSD drive
RAM: 16GB
I don't have any of those issues. My issues are a bit different...
I can't seem to find a copy of RemixOS 3.xx that actually has "true" root access. I know there is a method you can use to remount the volume as r/w, but since I am running it from a flash drive, I apparently cannot access any of the system files in Windows with hidden files and folders visible. And, after first boot the USB drive running the OS will somehow end up with a corrupted "REMIXOSDATA" partition.
Good luck on your quest.

Thank you for the response! In reading the issue you're having, I'm wondering Remix OS for PC, in its current state, is more susceptible to corruption issues in under some circumstances rather than others. When I first installed it, I installed the 64-bit version and I kept having issues where I'd boot it up and it suddenly would not start. I found somewhere on a forum where someone recommended to just use the 32-bit version and the issue went away for a long time, until I had the issue described in my original post. I'm wondering if it just isn't stable enough yet to be run from a flash drive, as it seems to me like it has issues with being easily corrupted.
This brings me to my next comment, I was able to fix my issue! I tried a couple things that didn't work, reinstalling Remix and then choosing YES to erase the entire virtual drive, then copying a backup of my original data.img back into the directory so I don't have to reinstall everything. This didn't fix the issue, so instead I downloaded the 64-bit version and installed it, but this time I chose NO on the prompt to erase my data.
Upon booting into Remix, it gave the standard Android message about optimizing apps and is now running good. I wish I did this workflow with the 32-bit version, as I'm wondering if it would have worked. I suspect I'll experience the same issues I originally experienced with the 64-bit version.
Anyway, I hope this may shed any light on how you can try to resolve your issue. Good luck!
Windows 11 is now available on the Insiders Beta channel. I've already downloaded it via the Dev channel and to be honest, that version seems pretty stable. I've had less issues on Windows 11 Dev than I did on Windows 10 21H1. Sure there are some things that need improvement, but overall it is working really well.
Downloaded it on my desktop last night and my laptop currently. I haven't played much with hit, but there are some pretty cool features I've picked up on from some YT Win 11 Tips videos. So far, so good though.
Installed it when it came out on Thursday and so far no problems. Everything seems really stable.
I have the oddest issue. I use SurfShark for VPN on all my devices. If I disable SS, it kills my internet connection, but that feature is toggled off in the SS settings.
For the life of me, I can't figure out how to fix that.

Thanks for the heads up and where to look...I'm fortunate my desktop passed the hardware test to be compatible with Windows 11. I'm on the latest beta preview (insiders) build...guess I'm too chicken-**** to go with the insiders developers program, at least for now.
To my knowledge, there is no link. You must go through Windows Update and get it via the Insider Channels. There are three levels, Dev, Beta, and Release Preview. If will tell you whether or not your system meets Microsoft's Windows 11 minimum requirements.

I'm having no major stability issues. In fact, I'm having less issues than I had with Windows 10. I kept getting a green screen on Windows 10. An update didn't install correctly and borked up my desktop. Since upgrading to Windows 11 Dev, I've since moved to Beta, I have had hardly any serious stability issues.
There are a few things that I hope Microsoft brings back, like moving the taskbar to another part of the screen though.
I'm currently running it on a Surface Pro 6 and a Dell Inspiron 3670.
Agreed, Windows 11 build so far is pretty stable compared to previous releases.
I still can't believe it won't support zen 1 processors...
Anyway, considering it's still in the dev channel, gosh, that is stable

After seeing whole lots of forums and now knowing my i7-6700 was an unsupported CPU and I was never going to get win 11, I still signed up to the windows insider program.
Even then, I tried to install the beta from the insider program to install it and same CPU notification and installation blocked. That was about 4pm. Later in the evening about 4 hours l8r I did my usual check for updates on my win 10 and it started to DL a few 10 updates then all of a sudden said windows 11 upgrade is available, download? So I did and it installed without any hassle and really quickly as well. 30min maybe and then did a few minor subsequent updates to 11 such as security after. Compared to over an hour to do a recovery install (without deleting files option from boot media) of 10 when you're having issues. A few hours almost to install 10 if you're doing a complete wipe and install.
I wanted to ask is that how you get your win 11 or similar process? I only signed up to the windows insider program several hours earlier which had still said no install to my CPU and all of a suddenly a fully operational and what appears to be non-buggy version became available and installed itself on my unsupported CPU PC. Now I will add, of ALL the criteria the unsupported CPU was the only factor not met when I tried to install b4. So really I'm just a bit confused how it became available, seems to be operating just fine, contrary to all advice and even discussions just hours earlier by MS moderators on official MS website saying it will never install on unsupported CPU just like that.

Like I said, I downloaded it and installed it via Windows Insider. I have the dev version running on my Dell desktop and the beta version on my Surface Pro 6. The only other way I know of, outside of Windows Insider, is to download the ISO and do a clean install.
If you got it via Windows Insider, then your CPU met the minimum requirements, or, for some reason, it ignored it.
I've read a few articles on how you can bypass the hardware check and get the official version AND still receive updates.
Here is one: https://hothardware.com/news/microsoft-windows-11-installing-unsupported-hardware
It takes a registry hack though.

Yeah well up to that point, or rather every single attempt to install it has been blocked with the unsupported CPU message. In fact even after I'd signed up to insider and I tried installing directly from Windows insider it was blocked with the same error.
I don't know if I received it via windows insider either, all I can say is until I signed up I never saw anything and was surprised when the upgrade came thru the std update check and then several further updates followed over the next 2 hours after installation.
I definitely didn't do the registry hack either which would have required manual installation anyway

How can you not know if you received it via Windows Insider? To my knowledge, there are only three ways to get a legitimate copy of Windows 11 to install on your system: a) Download and install from the official Windows 11 ISO, b) Windows Insider program, or c) Wait for the official release. In any case, you have to actively do something to install Windows 11. It didn't install by itself without your interaction or approval.
Since you said that you signed up for the Windows Insider program and you got a CPU error and you didn't do the registry hack; and it still installed means that the Insider program either: a) Ignored the error (unlikely), or b): It is an erroneous error and it allowed the install.

Yeah yeah, of course I installed it myself.
What I meant was, how was it even offered after failing on the insider program website; and as a std upgrade via the "check for updates" function as well.
Even this morning it was picking up more updates for 11 as well.

This just in. Microsoft replaced my wife's Surface Laptop (1st Gen) because of a swollen battery. The replacement came with Windows 10. Microsoft said that I wasn't able to run Windows 11 because of the CPU (everything else was good).
I wiped it and did a clean install of Windows 10. I then enrolled it in the Insider Program (Release Preview Channel). After I did that, it allowed me to upgrade to Windows 11.
Windows 11 is running fine on a Surface Laptop (1st Gen) with i5 CPU, 4GB Ram, and 128GB SSD. No stuttering, nice and smooth.
