USB C second screen black - LG G8X ThinQ Questions & Answers

Before the latest android update to Android 11, I used to plug in my lg g8x to a hub which was connected to my monitor and peripherals. It turned my phone into a computer. After the update to Android 11 when I plug in the USB C the phone reboots and the computer monitor doesn't turn on. I believe I get a message that says second screen not connected. I went into developer options and turned on 'enable desktop mode' but it didn't help. Any idea what happened and how to fix this so the phone will appear on the second screen? Thanks.

USB not working via MTP/PTP

Running 5.1.1, I've tried installing the latest drivers from verizon & LG along with Windows10-KB3010081-x64.msu on two Windows 10 machines, and just the drivers on one Windows 7 machine.
When connecting the phone it displays it's charging. If I tape where it says "Battery full, safe to unplug charger" it closes the app drawer.
I've switched between MTP and PTP in storage settings-nothing happens.
I've turned on USB debug in developer options, still no go-the device does not show up in device manager at all.
I've tried the micro USB cable that came with my phone, along with a high speed insignia cable, and two cables that came with kindle fire tablets of various generations.
I've tried using the LG Suite-nothing happens, doesn't discover the device which I was expecting since it doesn't appear in device manager at all.
I've also factory reset the phone, it's never been rooted or had a ROM flashed, completely stock.
Anyone have any idea what I can do from here?

You can use something like vysor, which allows you to display phone contents on screen.

Help, usb not working

My lg g5 ls992 is not recognized by a computer when i plug it in. If I do something to make windows refresh the driver it shows usb device not recognized for a short time. Windows makes the connected sound and within 30 seconds makes the disconnected sound while it is still plugged in. My wife has the same phone and her works fine. I have tried everything, reinstall drivers, usb debugging, usb mode, factory reset. I even tried swapping the bottom module. Nothing is working.
Hi there, did you manage to get anywhere at last?
Cheers.

Black screen issue, i can't restart the phone

Hi! I'd like some help.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S10e (SM-G970F).
The power button is faulty, I got it back from service yesterday, unfortunately it was not repaired because the device is rooted.
Before I handed it in for service, I was able to turn it on without the power button (download mode -> restart), but now the download mode is not available either.
And it doesn't indicate charging either, the display is completely black at all times.
Yesterday the computer recognized it as a drive, but it showed only one TWRP folder. Today, unfortunately, the computer does not even recognize it, nothing happens when the usb cable is connected.
Is it possible that the device has remained in some service mode?
Somehow I would have to reboot or get into download mode, I just don’t know how..
So now:
The display is completely dark.
It does not respond to buttons.
The power button is broken.
It does not indicate charging.
The download mode does not start. (volmune down + bixby button & connect usb data cable -> nothing happens.)
The computer does not indicate a usb connection.
The adb doesn't see either: error '(null)' not found.
What can I do?
To me it seems phone's boot-loader is broken: a working boot-loader would start Android's "init" process what automatically starts ADB on phone, if USB-debugging got enabled on phone, what in turn would make the phone accessable via USB.

Thanks for the reply.
However, I have new news about the device.
I realized that the device itself works, only the display is always dark.
I disassembled, unplugged the battery from the motherboard, and switched back to download mode and Odin recognized it.
I managed to update the software on it, the device restarted fine, only the display is completely dark.
The computer already recognizes it, I can give a command via adb, and I can hear the volume button when pressed.
The only problem is that there is no picture on the display.
I reconnected the display connector to the motherboard, but that wasn't the problem.
When the power is off, the display does not indicate that the charger is connected.
Does anyone have any idea what else I can do?

Android 8 on LG-H831: Prevent display from dimming while connected to AC to USB power supply or connected to another computer as a USB device?

I posted this message on the LG G5 subreddit in 2019 November but received zero replies so am now asking here.
I use Android 8 on an LG G5 from Fido in Canada, specifically the LG-H831 variant, but I no longer use Fido. While I am using my desktop computer (which runs Windows 10 Enterprise for x86-64) at my home or office, I leave the G5 connected to an Alternating Current (mains electricity) to USB power supply or connected to my desktop computer as a USB device (with the desktop computer acting as the USB host). After an inactivity timeout, the display on the G5 automatically dims and stays dim until I touch the screen again but this touch to brighten the display is received and processed by the window/screen I left open so I have to be careful about how I touch the screen only to brighten the display. I always configure my Android handheld computers to leave the display always on while the computer is connected to a power source using the USB connector. Is there a way to either disable the automatic dimming while the computer is connected to a power source but not being touched or to increase the inactivity timeout before the display dims? I have not found any solution to this First-World Problem so my workaround is to turn off the display when I am finished using the G5 or to just try to ignore the unwanted automatic dimming even though it distracts me. I fear that this “feature” is hardwired in the software instead of being designed to be changed by the end user. I have been saying that I should ask about this behaviour for many months by now but I never did until now.
Thank you for reading my post.
