Credit for this goes to another user in another discussion forum. I just wanted to put it in a proper forum to help folks.
Please discuss your victories and defeats with your modules.
I currently use two modules: YouTube Ad Blocker and Greenify Experimental Settings. Test your Greenify settings one at a time. I have found that allowing hibernation of system processes causes an occasional bootloop. I think it's related to just one or two apps, so I'm trying to isolate those.
Xposed APK will be attached momentarily. I have to switch to a desktop.
Thanks!

I've been having issues with apps not staying hibernated (Greenify), and when I tried Xposed, my Venue 8 became unstable. I've installed your version; and so far, so good! I'm using Greenify Experimental and Amplify.

@urquiagal same here. Glad to hear you are having success with Xposed as well.
I hope more interest in the Venue 8 7840 comes our way. This is an amazing system.
I spoke too soon ...
{sigh}
A couple of nights ago my Venue started bootlooping again, and it wouldn't stop until I uninstalled XPosed. I wanted so badly for this to work.
Is the xposed bootloop issue just a problem with the stock ROM, or does it happen with custom ROMs too? I've never flashed a non-stock ROM on any of my devices, but I think I'd be willing to try with the Venue if that would let me use Greenify's full functionality.
Slightly OT: is it possible to put a Venue 3830 into "safe mode"? Not wanting to do another factory reset (still a pain even with Titanium restore), it took me a LOT of bootloop cycles trying to uninstall xposed in 10-15 second intervals. (And why does the Venue app list only scroll one way?) I finally managed to put the StatsOf icon on the primary home screen, change my settings to open the app list first, sort the app list so that xposed was on the first "page", and long-press the xposed entry long enough to get the delete prompt before it looped again. Did a hard reboot at that point and the loop was gone.

No custom Roms or development at all for this tablet yet.

Leave the Xposed installed, but disable the Greenify module. That will likely solve it.
No custom ROMs are out yet. If you need it, the Dell 4.4.4 factory ROM is posted in Venue General (7840 ROM, that is)
What is the best root method you guys have used?
Venue 8 7840 only supports tethered CWM at this time

@spotdog14 - The only way to access a recovery and install SuperSU is through a tethered CWM recovery session made for Intel x86 Android tablets - Check this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/intel-android-devices-root-temp-cwm-t2975096
On another note: What do you folks think about creating a generic Venue 7840 "Tips and Tricks/What-We-Know-So-Far" thread and compile this info? I would be glad to lead this.
Thanks!

That would probably be a good idea - it's all dotted around at the moment and mixed in with the other venue tablets.

A couple of weeks ago, I put in a request for a dedicated Venue 7840 forum. Here is what I'm thinking:
Intro
Guides
[**]Tethered CWM Recovery + SuperSU
[**]Xposed module install
[**]Format microSD for support up to 512GB
Resources
[**]Dell 4.4.4 CWM Nandroid rooted image
[**]APKs of Dell-specific apps (Camera, Gallery, etc. - whatever will work as such)
Anything else?

Awesome, thanks! I had some problems finding the right ADB driver but it all worked out. I ended up using option 3 and got an error about too many links but it still booted fine into recovery and I was able to flash SU just fine. The first two apps to install here Adaway and xposed.
**Edit**
I have a question, this is obviously an older version of xposed and one of the modules I use is App Settings and it is saying it requires XposedBridge Version 52. Is it safe to update Xposed from inside the app or should I try downloading an older version of App Settings?
I would not recommend updating Xposed just yet. One of the modules that I use is YouTube adblock, and it complained about not having the latest framework. It still worked, though.
The reason I posted this Xposed (found on another Android x86 forum) was that when I tried the latest framework, I got an immediate bootloop.
Fortunately, though, if you have a problem, you can boot to Android Safe Mode and have enough time to remove Xposed. Boot the system while holding down both VolUp+VolDn, and it'll boot to Safe Mode.
RE: Adblock -> That's my first order of business. Install FDroid+Adblock. It is night-and-day performance boost on Android.

That is kind of what I figured. I just wish I could get App Settings to work.
Also it appears I cannot get Xposed GEL Settings to work correctly either. I'm going to try to uninstall it and reinstall it later today to see if that makes any difference.
I haven't tried Xposed GEL yet. Let me know how that goes. What I figure we could do in the compiled 7840 info thread is include what's been tried and a "Yes/No/Kinda" section of how apps/modules are performing.

Sounds good to me. After reinstalling GEL settings worked fine. I'm thinking about applying gravity box next. I miss my customizable quick toggles.
Update, Gravity Box KK works, but you cannot disable or move the quick access settings for:
My Dell
Sound
Dell Cast
But from my brief test everything else seems to be working fine.
@spotdog14 - Thank you for posting your findings. I will roll this into the general thread.
Som sad news, though. I traded in my Venue 7840 for a Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition. I really needed the pen capability. Nonetheless, I have the info I need to set up the 7840 general forum.
I am currently uploading Dell's factory 4.4.4 image as Nandroid. It should be pre-rooted, but if not, use the tethered CWM to install the latest SuperSU.

I used this tool to install xposed from day one and has worked great for me the past couple months. It's 2.6.1
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/tool-installer-xposed-installer-zenfones-t2983589
Worked like a charm.
For what ever reason ever since I went from 4.4.4 to 5.1.1 (TW) on my Note 4 i have not been able to cut wake lock paths. To be more clear I did not upgrade to 5.1.1 it was a clean flash. The option is no longer there, it no longer even displays the path when an app automatically awakens from hibernation. I'm running the latest beta version of greenify with the donation/zoomed features enabled. Can anyone help?

It works for me even on M.
Is Greenify enabled in Device Administrators?
Are you rooted? If not, have you enabled Greenify in Accessibility?
Are you using Supersu latest version?

Yes to all 3. This is so weird. I would like to cut a few paths but I can't even see any wake paths let alone cut any.
I'm having the same Problem. For example i start Instagram, Facebook starts, too, but i can't cut off the wakeup pathes. I'm on Resurrection Remix (CM12.1 - Android 5.1.1) Rom on Galaxy S3 GT-i9300 with Xposed.
I flashed this Rom clean today. Before it was working fine! Greenify Version is 2.6.2 (i don't understand the function of 2.7...)
Any idea?
Some ROM may disable the logcat module of Android by default, please check your ROM configuration tool (if any) to enable logcat.
Any idea where i could find it?
Ok, got it: I had to activate "Android Logging" in Boeffla Config App!
I have installed multipro global 8.2.5 as my daily driver rom. It is rooted with xposed and all the other bells and tinkers.
Now, I was fiddling with the settings when I thought of trying out the second space option. I was surprised to find that it actually works as a second device, because it was installed afresh with the shared rooted applications ceasing to function in it.
Given this is my only device, I was in two minds to whether install my work email on it or not and lose out on some really useful root-dependent apps - arise mod, xposed, to name a few. This second space seems to be the perfect answer to my problem.
However, the only challenge that I could forsee in using this setup was when the rom will have to be updated. Will it delete the workspace when I choose to upgrade? And in case I'm able to simply flash and upgrade through TWRP, will I be able to flash supersu and root just one space and leave the other? How will the second space be treated in this case?
Can anyone share their experience with second space and how does it work? even if is not pertaining to a custom rom.

Excellent questions. I face the same issues. Did anyone ever answer?
+1 here to revive this thread. I am using MI Pad 4 Plus which doesnt have MIUI Second Space included in its stock firmware. If anyone know how to add this feature (perhaps flash something?) to clover please let me know. thanks
How to root my device
I test app builds for (a little) income. The app I use to test builds is called UserTesting. The app records my screen during while I test builds.
Since rooting my phone, I've been unable to successfully complete a test. I accept a test, start the screen recorder, and then I get a notification: "Your test has been cancelled." I believe this is related to rooting, since I never had this problem before.
I've tried to fix it using:
Magisk Hide
Magisk Hide Props Config > Changing the fingerprint of my phone
By using those solutions, I've been able to run my banking apps. But I still can't get UserTesting working.
Theories:
Even though I've blocked UserTesting from seeing that my phone is rooted, maybe it still manages to do it via the screen recorder? Could that be?
My phone runs Android 10, but the fingerprint I chose was Android 9, because that was the latest available in Props. Could that be causing problems?
Does anyone know why this app isn't working and how I can fix it? Thank you.
My specs:
Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact
Running LineageOS 17.1 Unofficial 1.6
Magisk 20.4 (20400)
Backstory: So got my daughter a bluetooth enabled toothbrush named in title, and loaded up the app for it:
Philips Sonicare For Kids - Apps on Google Play
Transform brush time into fun time!
play.google.com
Running on a OnePlus 6, Android 10 stock firmware other than bootloader unlocked, Magisk installed. Start it up, whines it is rooted and refuses to run. Sputter some colorful language, add app to Magisk Hide, restart, poof, works great.
Now daughter likes it, and don't want to give her my phone twice a day... so open the drawer and pull out an older phone, LG G6. Old firmware, prob full of security issues, figure I'll install LineageOS on it. OK, great, get through all that, shiny running system... repeat app install... and ugh... "t3h r00t3d phone!".
This time, Magisk Hide isn't "fixing" the problem, and I am curious what the difference is... same app version on both phones. Safetynet check passes on both phones. The only real differences I can cite are (1) Android 11 OS base and (2) Roar Gapps MiniMe build (vs full Gapp suite on stock OnePlus rom). At this point, there aren't other apps on the device (e.g. SuperSU or similar usual suspect).
Any suggestions on what is different that an app could check and call out a rooted phone?
Answering my own post, in case anyone searches this and finds it helpful...
Turns out this app appears to blacklist Lineage OS.
Reflashed clean, OS only... fail. (No root or safetynet at this point)
Added somewhat normal Gapps, now with working safetynet... fail.
Didn't need to install Magisk at this point.
Lets test the theory... grab another OS image at random, flash it (still no Gapps, Magisk, SN)... success!
Install Magisk, still success!
