I was updating my bootloader using the pnewbootloader.exe app found on the xda developers FTP this morning and something weird happened.
When the app was done it wrote 000000x000000 at the end and that was it. After updating my bootloader I restarted my phone, but it wouldn't start. It just froze at a black screen. Nothing.... I doubt if it's even on. Tried charging it and then turning it on but no responce. Even the Led is dead. I tried all sorts of methods to bring back to life but all has failed. It won't even charge for god's sake. I noticed that when i remove the battery and charge it without the battery, the led would turn red. Otherwise the device is completely unresponsive.
I desperatly need help hear you guys. This is a call for all the Pocket PC geniuses out there. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you have only two options..
GO TO THE NEAREST SERVICE CENTER and let them fix it for you
or
Do this (the instruction is for wallaby)
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=WallabyJTAG
if you get the result : 000000000:00000000 .. you upgrade your device correctly.. but why it kills your device .. i really dont know ..
the correct bootloader for HIMALAYA are boot_1.03.nb0,boot_1.01.nb0 and bootloader_1.06.nb0 ..the other bootloader in FTP the 515.nb0, 517.nb0 is for WALLABY .. bootloader_for_wm5.0 is not a bootloader but an IPL thats why i added in the name and warned not to use it.
anyway i already gives my warning about Downgrading/Upgrading a bootloader
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=124909#124909
and was about to post HOW to do it .. but i change my mind since i also kill my Device due to some research and experimenting using an older than 1.01 bootloader

where can I find a service center here in manila?
tnx a lot
Thanks for your tip but ......
Well from what it seems I must have fried my device.... Now my question would be, how the hell are they gonna fix it ? And how much will it cost ?
If it's a matter of flashing a new bootloader then it shouldn't cost too much, but if they plan to replace a rom chip then I would suspect high repair charges.
If any body has any idea how much it might cost to have this problem fixed please don't hesitate to mention it cause it will surely make a difference.
If it's gonna cost me alot then I would rather buy a used xdaII and use it as spare parts for my original xdaII. Probably change the whole PCB and have it replaced with the used xdaII's PCB

if it is under warranty .. just dont tell them about flashing your bootloader .. they will fix it with no cost .. but if already out-of-warranty .. then i dont know how much really it cost for them to repair it ..
but there is always one fact in service center .. no matter how big or small they will do to your device .. it will take long before you can get your device back ..

I got one question here .....
First of all allow me to extend my thanks to Toenailed for his help on this. Now for my question. I don't get ..... How come, after all the software and hardware knowledge we've got here in this forum, we still can't fix corrupted bootloaders ? Can it be true that service centers have special hardware equipment designed to flash corrupted bootloaders ?
I live in U.A.E, Dubai .... and to be honest, I'm pretty sure that the service center is gonna tell me that the PCB needs complete replacement. Our service centers prefer to replace rather than to fix. I bet if I tell them about the bootloader issue they won't have a clue and insist on replacing the main PCB.
I seriously don't know what to do. I'M STUCK !!!!
is there a way that bootloader can be done without the need of the service centers?can you teach us?
Ok you guys this is ****'n serious **** ....
I sent my phone to the service center this afternoon, and guess what .... they couldn't understand what happened and have sugested to have the PCB changed. Changing a PCB would cost 1,400.00 DHS This is sooooooooooo ****'n expensive. A used pocket pc would cost 1200.00 DHS. I got so pissed off at this. Our service centers prefer to replace than to repair.
Now, it's been 18 hours without my pda and it's been a living hell so far. I'm so ****'n desperate right now that I could actually kiss the guy that comes up with a solution.
This is a call to all pocket pc experts including ( Buzz Lightyear, Toenailed, and Mamaich ) PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE you guys ... This is really heart breaking. I'm currently trying some reviving methods but so far I haven't been lucky with anything. I really hope you come up with a solution u guys !!!
There's only one way to fix the Bootloader is by using the Jtag method to the PCB which is not described or anyone went into this experimentation especially on the HIMALAYA's Board or later ones..
I'm sorry to disappoint you my friend but pray if Toenaild will go further more and study it  and making it easy to happen...
I'm really stuck here .....`
Buzz Lightyear & ToeNailed
For God's sake please come up with a simplified version of the steps needed to repair a corrupted bootloader. I'm sooooooooooooo ****'n desperate now. Our local market doesn't even have spare parts or pcbs.

i finally got my device back ..
i didnt pay even a centavos since it is still under warranty .. they replace the motherboard
i already ask them how much it will cost if i will pay the board and they said it should be around 1,950 to 2,950 Philippine Pesos (35.45USD to 54USD)

Hi, that's just the biggest problem, because the imei number is in the motherboard they simply don't sell them, so I bought a second hand phone with a broken screen and made one phone out of two.

Plse use English, my Polish is really bad , It is possible to pass the bootscreen without calibration but I'm not sure you can find a rom who don't use it.

Can you tell me more about the rom you are using.
It might not bee the mothelboard. Had this problem for a few months until my screen just went black one day!
Had to change the screen cable. It's a design flaw, each time you open the phone the cable gets scratched and soon the wires get clipped. I bought a new niki100 flex cable on ebay and open the phone and replaced it and put a small extra tape over the cable to be sure it would happen again...
problem
there is some version of software without the preliminary calibration of the touch screen of some time I hit on so... perhaps somebody will give bearings... thanks
placing a file name welcome.not on sdcard should bypass the welcome thing
hi, i'm new her.
but i had this problem to.
i bought an touch screen on dealextreme.com
it works great!
sorry for my bad english.
I have trawled the net for weeks on end. It appears no one is selling either the digitizer or lcd/digitizer combo for this unit. My unit's touch panel is cracked and I was hoping I could find a replacement and fix it myself. I can't even find a cheap Chinese knock-off. The closest thing available on the net is the LCD panel without the digitizer. My LCD is working fine.
If anybody has a dead Archos 101 with a good working LCD/Digitizer, I am willing to buy.
Anybody knows the technical specification for the LCD/digitizer? any part numbers? any substitutes that can work? I pulled mine apart but cannot identify any relevant manufacturer code/part numbers.
Thanks folks.
How much do you want to pay?
Sent from my A101IT using xda premium
@pitflyer, PMed you about this.
Anyone know where you can get a replacement screen/Digitizer?
Mine is smashed and parts aren't easy to find for it
If not whats the best way to wipe all personal info from it when screen and touch aren't working? If its going in the bin I'd like to wipe it first
Had the same problem with my A70... you can find the LCD easily, but It seems like it's impossible to get the touch Digitizer ...
perhaps...

1) Connect to computer and install new firmware ?
2) Break it open and remove the SD ?
3) Set it on fire ?
4) All of the above in that order !

If the display itself is still working, but touchscreen is cracked you might enter recovery and wipe data partition and stuff.
Only power and vol+/vol- buttons are necessary.

I once did some research on the parts used for the A101 devices.
See this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16452190&postcount=12
There's a datasheet collection ready for download.
- TFT-Display is Chimei N101L6-L02
- Touchscreen is probably made by Pixcir using a Touchplus TR16C0 controller

Hello, I am looking to change my battery that has swollen.
Do you have an idea where to buy it?
AFAIK you can't buy new batteries, nor can you remove the old one unless you know exactly what you're doing.
it is removed from the phone but I can not find a seller for this item ......
aliexpress, there is a lot of stuff for our phones. i picked up the screen about a month ago, and it cost only 20$.
I also bought a screen for this phone on this site, but there is no battery ...

I have also bought a screen from AliExpress, but there are no instruction on how to replace. Do you have any kind of instructions? I can only find remove the screws on the bottom and the simcard holder, then use a prying tool between the bezel and the backplate. But this is very limited? Any advice? Ofcourse doing it is all at my own risk, but I need some help

Hi Bubu,
I can't find the video. Do you have the link or can you post the title (if a link wouldn't be allowed).
Any help is probably better that none.
A local phone shop was able to open it. Now I am removing all parts. I am currently stuck with the battery, but I expect the screen will also be a challenge. At least it seems it was at the first Swift.
Thanks,
