What do you want from this phone? What do you want to do with it?
Iff you want to useit like phone with this super batery 4000ma is an super phone.
I do not play games on the phone. GPS IGO Primo super ok, Agenda more then enough, useit like stick for 8,16,32 gb super ok, useit on this forum super ok , watch movies super ok, listem music super ok, doing your own custom rom super ok, lanterna, compass super on, camera ok for me, record your call super ok ......
I want to use it as a regular phone for everyday usage. Little bit of everything you mentioned there

I comandet another one for my wife. Must come from china any time now. I have this phone for 8 month and he never dissapointed me, and LiFe ROM for 7 month. Works fine.

Thanks for your positive responses.
I will wait for few more reviews and then will make up my mind.
I'd say it depends where you live.
Pros:
- Battery life. There is not even competition. +2 hours of web browsing, 4 hours of watching movies, 4 hours of playing music, 1 hour of youtube HQ video watching, navigation software for 45min, some sms and calls, some emails. Both SIM cards on, one with 3G. Data connection on all the time.Google, whatsapp,viber,facebook sync on. Wifi was off even. Did all of this in 16 hours of time, and as you see, all of it require screen on and the web browsing+Youtube typically uses a lot of radio power., and ended up with 55% of battery left. My girlfriend on an S3 did about the same and it took out all her battery + again 40% of battery after recharge.
I typically do 1 hour of web browsing, some emails + whatsapp + viber + 1 hour of Youtube video, and an hour of music. In the evening, I have 70-75% left so my biggest problem is to recharge or let it go another day
This was my main reason for buying this phone and so far, it has not let me down.
- Performs well. Not the fastest on the market, but it performs well, stable, applications are fast. I don't use it for games, but I did install Ingress to test, and my performance was not worse than an HTC M8... For the normal use, as you and stympy are planning, it's more than sufficient.
- Price : under $250 is a bargain for what it has to offer you
- Modifications : it's pretty easy to flash your phone with a new ROM
- Magnetic case recognition : it's a stupid little thing, but I got a MOFI magnetic case with it, which automatically turns the screen on/off if you open/close the case (even unlocks it). I got instantly used to it, and love the feature. Only seems to work on stock ROM though...
- Back camera : works well, fast, and takes good quality pictures. Lot of filters in built-in SuperCamera app.
Cons:
- 3G Signal quality. That's why I'm saying it depends on where you live. If it's in a city, and you are almost always there, with good 3G, no problems. But if you go places where the signal coverage is less, then 3G is gone really fast. (I compared to other phones, and while they typically have 2-3 bars on 3G, I'm already falling back to G(Edge). This might be because the Chinese version lacks 900Mhz 3G support, and if I flash a modem with 2100-900Mhz, my second SIM card doesn't work anymore (and not sure if it really does 3G 900).
However, the 2G signal on both SIM1 and SIM2 is holding the same as any other phone I compared it with.
Also, sometimes 3G H+ speed is all of a sudden capped at 30 or 50K/s, switching the data connection off and on again solves it, but it can be annoying. Might be related to my modem version too...
- MTK related issues: this chipset has some issues that can be solved, but you need to be a bit of a tweaker to do it. Mainly GPS and modem require some problem solving. Right now my modem is good enough, and my GPS gets a fix in under 20 seconds, but out of the box, my GPS didn't work well at all, and I had bad call quality.
- ROM support: the device isn't that popular outside China and Russia, so English ROMs are not updated that frequent. KitKat ROM available but unstable. The Chinese ROMs are well maintained and pack a lot of extra features (VIBE, Stock) as compared to ROW, but I don't speak Chinese Coming from an HTC phone, I'm used to a lot of XDA support, frequent CyanogenMod updates and fixes and so on. I might have been spoilt
- Community support : XDA has the basic forums for this phone, but nothing compared to 4PDA. So if you read Russian or Chinese, there is a lot out there. For English speakers, it's hard to find answers to some questions. However, a lot of issues you might encounter are typically chipset issues for MTK6589, and what works for other phones with this chipset, usually also works for the P780.
- Heavy : if you have an S2 right now, and switch to this one, it will feel like a brick in your pocket. You get used to it straight away, but if you pick up another phone like S2 or S3, they feel like they weigh nothing
- Front camera : only 0.3M, and that is really noticeable. Quality of front camera pictures is ..well...bad. Selfies are not worth it, and video chat is ok but was better on my 4 year old HTC phone. People notice that quality is low when video chatting with them.
Interesting software for this phone:
- Keeping my screen on while using the phone (Smart Reading) : standard in VIBE, but on other ROMS, I have Gravity screen which works a lot better actually.
- XPosed+GravityBox support : tweak your phone any way you want
- Lenovo SecureIt : nice features, and although I think I don't need it, it's quite good. Chinese version even better (with built-in ad blocker!), but I don't understand it
- Lenovo PowerManager : great tool for monitoring your power consumption, with a lot of features like freezing apps, and detailed overview and estimations are pretty accurate (I also use GSAM because it gives me better statistics)
- MobileUncle tools : you cannot have this phone without this app. It lets you tweak everything, like GPS settings, Headset volume (because the default max. volume is too silent for me), and so many other settings no other tool gives you access to. It is a must.
- SuperCamera and SuperGallery (built-in) : really great apps, camera has many features and takes great pictures (main camera that is)
Conclusion : if you know what rooting and flashing is, and have no problem doing that, then this phone is awesome. It's an ok phone out of the box, but tweaking it turns it into a great phone. You will probably have to overcome some nasty issues you wouldn't get on an HTC or a Samsung.
If that is ok for you, go for it and you'll not regret it. Given the low price, if it really, really doesn't work out, you're not out $600 at least...
I just love, love, love that I never have to worry about using it a lot and running out of battery. Even after using it to charge my girlfriends S3, there's plenty juicy left

I wanted a phone for my wife which should be hassle free. I have ripped my s2 with custom roms, kernels and modems but wifey doesn't appreciate if I try to do the same on her phone.
There are few issues mentioned by you which would need tweaks and without them it's daily operations will be affected e.g. call quality.
So this phone is a no go for me. Will have to look at Samsung or the sony ones. Moto g is another good option.

Hi, well, I described the worst case scenarios here, and maybe scared you too much
I had my phone 5 minutes and flashed it already, causing a lot of the issues described. I went from Chinese to ROW (almost bricking it in the process btw), and immediately tried to get 900Mhz 3G working, which was problematic.
Right now, my girlfriend is actually jealous of my phone, and whenever she uses it, is loving it. It took me indeed some time to get there, but now it's all good.
ROMs like Life are excellent, and well supported. For me personally, it's not what I was looking for, but maybe for you it's all you need.
Installed Cyanogen om my girlfriends phone, but she hated it, although it worked better and was superior to the stock ROM.
So in terms of buying it for your girlfriend, I'll tell you what my girlfriend (dis)likes:
Pros:
- Big screen that is very good quality
- Nice design
- Magnetic case
- Doing stuff on it all day and have enough battery
- Fast
- 2 SIM cards for calling everybody
- Auto beautify function on camera (not that she needs it, but it's quite amazing how well it works )
- record a call
Cons:
- a bit heavy
- the data connection issues (sometimes when switching from WIFI to data or when data seems capped, you have to switch off/on data and it's annoying)
- the bad front camera for selfies and mirror app for checking makeup and video chatting
- never an excuse to not call me because the battery was dead
As an alternative, if you are really looking into another one, the OnePlus One is being released starting from $300. It's high end hardware (similar to S5 and HTC One), partnered with CyanogenMod, but for a ridiculous low amount of money.Only downside is no SD card, but the 64Gb model is supposed to cost only $50 more...
If I had to choose right now between my P780 and another phone...I'd still choose my P780. Yes, I don't like the 3G being a bit iffy, I don't like the bad front camera, but I love all the rest. And it's cheap. And soon a modem for it might be released that gives excellent 3G results.
Right now, after my modding and flashing, I have a really stable phone (had to reboot it 1x in the last 3 weeks and that was partially my fault ), good call quality, does whatever I want how I want it. It's just a bit more difficult to get to that point...
For me, being able to install different ROMs and battery life are crucial, and I'm happy with it.
Would I recommend it to my girlfriend? Yes and no. Yes because she'll be happy with it, but it's more of a geek phone that you have to hack and maintain a bit more than another model to get/keep it in good shape.

As you mentioned it would require some hacking to make it perfect, and that's where my wife won't allow me to touch it. If I was buying it for myself, it would be a different story altogether.
Hello all, I'm currently on the s7 edge and I've had it with this locked bootloader. This phone feels like an iPhone to me. You can't do anything with it but use it. The edge of the screen is troublesome when using the phone without a case.
Basically I want to know if the v10 is still worth getting? Or should I wait for something else? I'm on T-mobile.
I love huge screens(which is another issue I have with this phone)
Don't care for camera
Don't care about gaming speed. That's what my DS and other handhelds are for.
Don't care about battery life if it's replaceable.

It's a great phone and is now easily rootable on both Lollipop or Marshmallow (depending on which it ships with). Custom TWRP recovery exists and that's helpful when flashing updates. There's a very solid stock ROM with various debloat, dedeox, etc variations to try from. Also a couple non stock ROMs like CM13 and Resurrection Remix that are WIP that are pretty close (working camera being the big gating item).
On the con side it's not the latest and greatest and the G5 of HTC 10 has better performance (at least in tests like Antutu). Also i wish there were more devs actively working on this phone....seems like its really only a couple folks and if they get bored and move on...
Anyway, that's my two cents. Hope it helps. Come join the fun.
A great device, had mine for less than two months now and for the current price it is hard to beat
This beat out the nexus 6p for me due to the removable battery and expandable storage
The second screen is a bit gimicky still, I can't find a reason to use it much other than for always on notifications
The two front facing cameras... well the could have stuck with just the wide angle and I would be happy. But rear shooter is still hard to beat by anything
Build quality is solid, screen is great, battery ain't so good but the fastest charger to date can't beat a battery swap
Other forums may have more development but this one is moving along nicely and with the smaller size feels closer (my big name phones always had way too many people to keep track)
I plan on holding on to it for two years, can't see a good reason not to.

Yeah, what these guys said. I just got my V10 this month so only a couple weeks with it but I'm quite happy. Has all the features I require: swappable battery, SD card support, good camera with OIS, and fingerprint support. I love big screens and this certainly has it plus the second screen I find moderately useful though not a requirement. It's also built like a tank which is nice (but heavy). I don't see anything in the market that competes with the V10 if you have the same requirements as I do. I think the only thing that might get me jealous in 2016 is a V11. This one will likely last me several years, I think.

I now own the exclusive to Xfinity Mobile LG X Charge phone.
For the time I have used it thus far which is just over 12 hours and I have discovered it is missing some essential apps I am very keen on having and am missing which are the basic LG apps Email and Gallery. The Email app worked so good and was so lightweight and simple and just always worked without fuss. The Gallery app is basically the same thing for me. I do not want to use Google Photos and manage my photos. I loved having my picture folders in a nice and simple app.
So now I come here seeking any help or advice on how I could possibly get some stock LG apps to actually work with this new phone. I cannot find any information on this phone anywhere as far as root/custom things.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciative. Thank you.
How do you like it? I should have mine on Monday. I planned on just using the sim card in my S7 for now but after seeing the massive battery, I might just go with it. I don't do anything too intensive.

I'm loving the battery life so far. I've been getting 15+ SoT with light usage, some Pokemon GO and music streaming in there as well.
Some things that are of inconvenience to me personally is I cannot get file transfers to work over USB hooking it up to my computer. I tried downloading LG drivers for it and all that. I just ended up using AirDroid to transfer my files over to it.
It works just fine now. It was either my cousins phone as he has the exact same model or it was his computer not allowing the USB hook-up to work. My phone and computer works just fine hooking it up over USB.
It also doesn't come with some stock apps like Gallery and a stock Email app. I have started using Gmail for all of my emails like Hotmail, etc. and using the app Piktures in place of stock Gallery. It has a built in file manager but I did not find it very useful so I picked up open source Amaze file manager, it plays nice.
The camera isn't too shabby I didn't seem to find a manual mode at all so I tried Open Camera, but it appeared to reduce quality so I scrapped it. I came from a locked unpaid for ATT LG G4 so rip on the amazing camera quality I'm use to.
Final thoughts: Love the great battery life and for a light user like my self it is a solid phone as I don't do anything too intensive.
Also if you miss the app drawer you can download it back from LGs app update center in settings.

That's a great tip about the app drawer. I've had it for so long now that's awkward not having it. I hope this phone gets a little love from developers. I tried KingRoot but no luck. The camera is the only downside for me. It's definitely lower quality than I'm used to. I'll take the trade off right now. It's nice not making monthly payments on a phone.

I got it for Xfinity. I'm not a huge fan of Comcast, but my Verizon bill was out of control. I went from $180 a month for 10GB to $80. I have unlimited, my wife is per GB because she doesn't use much. I was also paying $30 a month for my S7 Edge. So the difference is really $50 a month. I'll take it.
I agree about root. I doubt anyone will pay attention to this phone. We can hope though. I can follow instructions but find exploits is way over my head.
Yup it is nice especially if you already have service through Comcast.
I tried Debloater to disable apps but it's either Nougat or a security patch that doesn't allow Debloater to work anymore.

Just an update in case anyone cares. This phone is freaking awesome. It's almost 7:00pm and my batter is at 75%. It's plenty fast enough. The only downside to me is the camera. It's not a deal breaker though.

Just curious as to what you think is wrong with the camera? I actually thought the camera was really good compared to my other phones. Moto g4 play and Samsung Galaxy grand prime. This phone seems to take very clear photos and videos.

The camera is a step down from my old LG G4, but the camera is good enough for me. It is still a decent camera.
For lithium630 I guess he is comparing it to the camera on his Samsung S7 which has dual 12MP cameras.

I see, you can't really compare a high end phone to a budget phone. There are probably plenty of differences between the two. Honestly.

I had the Samsung S7 Edge before this one. The pictures were crystal clear. By comparison this one often looks a little out of focus to me and grainy.

The S7 edge is a top of the line phone, you shouldn't compare it to a budget phone. It's like comparing a Lamborghini to a Ford.

I realize that. I was explaining what it was like to make the switch in case anyone was thinking of it. I'm shocked that the camera is the ONLY trade-off for me. I love this phone. I can't imagine paying four times the price for a "top tier" phone again.
The only other downside is that I doubt developers will give it any love. There was no bootloader unlock for the S7 Edge anyway.
Now you've had the Mate 20 Pro for a while, taking into account the camera, battery and overall experience. Would you recommend this phone to friends and would you buy the phone again yourself?
At this point I haven't had any negative experience...I'm more frustrated with the decisions that Google made in Android Pie than anything related to the phone itself.

I think it's an excellent phone but just the fact that I live in the USA where the M20P has no warranty or support makes it difficult to recommend. EMUI also will turn off certain people and the aggressive battery management is kind of a love it or hate it thing. I would buy this phone again but recommending it to a friend is another matter.
Not decided yet... Memory management is far too aggressive. The rest of EMUI I can live with at the moment. It's very hard to ignore the amazing battery, screen and camera. I came from a note 8 and it was a close run thing between the mate and the note. Time will tell!

I'm wondering if memory management is a phone issue or an android pie issue. I have seen others complaining about this with other phone brands.

I'm exactly in this boat. After my 3rd defective device I opted for a refund.
Today I looked at the Google pixel 3xl and the 1+6T the oxygen os is great far nicer than EMUI. But for some reason I kept getting drawn back to the Mate 20 Pro. The camera and battery life are something else.
Man I'm torn.
i love my mate 20 pro it is a great phone. there seems to be a whole lot of negativity about it on here but i have had no problems even with the dreaded lg screen lol. yes i would buy it again.

why not give it another try? my concern is how long huawei will support the device for. They have no official time frame for firmware and security updates. At least you have 3 years with a pixel.
Yeah looking forward on mate 30. Like the others that never had any single issue.. This phone is great in any aspect of everyday usage. Might buy another mate but let see how huawei would stand after the nonsense banning of their other services

I bought mine off eBay. If I had to do it again I'd use wonda mobile. They'll actually check if it's a boe panel for you before they ship and they handle warranty. You'd have to ship to China but that's better than ZERO support from even the best eBay sellers. Huawei doesn't do international service so your sol here in the US.

I have had great experience! Nice battery life is the best perk no use in having the hardware to do things if the battery won't last! Also have a second one I bought for the wife and she's an iPhone user and didn't like it. If anyone is interested send me a personal message

My only nitpick with this device is the gesture control, so I'm back to 3 button mode. The native Pie gestures work brilliantly, I don't get why Huawei broke it. That's not a deal breaker for me. It's the best phone I've ever used, better than the pixel or note. I'm unashamedly a huge fan of pure Google Android/ asop and use Nokia 7 plus as my second phone, but nothing comes close to my experience with the Mate 20 pro.

You can change that in the battery settings for running apps. Just let the big apps run in the background like games and they won't close. It's all about choice.
All my apps stay open all the time unless i've bloced them.
I wouldn't buy Huawei again, but I would recommend it.
The note 9 is the same as the mate, except with less battery life, slower charging, worse camera, and same aggressive app management unless you tweak it yourself.

why would you not buy Huawei again?
No.
Because of green tint, emui, how notifications are handled, and lack of customization options.
I've been on Samsungs since the S2, so this was quite a change for me, so at first I didn't like the general UI side of things (especially the AOD compared to Samsung's is pretty basic), but I have to say its grown on me.
Speed/fluidity etc on the hardware wide of things are excellent
Fingerprint detection can be random at best, but I'm amazed at the speed and reliability of the face recognition, especially when its dark
Also amazed at the battery life
Shame there's no SD slot. Would be much easier to just take all my music etc from my S7 if it had one. No problem as internal storage isn't an issue, but I'd have preferred an SD slot all the same.
Biggest gripe for me is the notch, or should I say the lack of statusbar icon space.... If you set to "hide" the notch, I would rather there be an option to drop the icons down a line so that a full row of statusbar icons can be seen (I'd rather lose 4-5mm of the screen and gain a full statusbar)
Notch aside, yes, I would definitely recommend, but now I've finally made the plunge and broken away from Samsung after all these years, I think I'd probably go for whatever the current OnePlus offering is in 2 years time to see what thats like!

I wouldn't buy Huawei again, but I would recommend it.
The note 9 is the same as the mate, except with less battery life, slower charging, worse camera, and same aggressive app management unless you tweak it yourself.

I've already changed those settings and they've made little difference. Perhaps I need to wipe it and start again (but to be fair, all I've really done is install nova and some Google apps).
Was looking at it but seen some downsides. I did enjoy the slider but could live without it. The fast charging and battery seem pretty good. but if anyone owns it can you tell me what you think of it
Personally I really like it, I have never used a oneplus phone before, and the UI is smooth. The battery life is pretty great, and I personally have around 50-60% by the time I go to bed, and it usually goes down by 2-3% overnight. The charging is also insane, as I wake up and it charges before im ready to leave for the day. (20-30 mins) furthermore, it handles gaming really well, and it never really overheats. It is great for emulators, even though it throttles performance slightly compared to other s8+ gen 1 phones. The only possible downside that I see is the probability of few/no custom roms. That was a dissapointment but I can live with it, especially if oos 13 releases soon. All of this is just my opinion however, so maybe consider other people's as well. PS: I am not a big camera person, and if you are, you may want to look elsewhere.

For the roms I hope so, but it may be unlikely without proper recovery tools from what I have read. The screen is 1080p but I find it looks good, Id rather have battery from 1080p anyway. It feels responsive usually, however it sometimes limits refresh rate for games, however that can technically be bypassed with root.

you don't even need to root, I'm pretty sure you can download the SetEdit app from the playstore and change the peak refreshrate to force 120hz.
The phone is good. Other than the custom ROMs maybe not being here, overall it's a good phone. At a good price.
This is an excellent performing device running Stock OS!

Oneplus literally spent everything to try to make this the best performing low price phone on the market, so the place they saved the most money is in the camera department. Honestly, I think my Oneplus 7/7T Pro from 2019 takes better photos because it actually has a good 16mp ultrawide and a 12mp telephoto lens, while the 10T has a 8mp ultrawide and a crappy 2mp macro(booooo, NO TELEPHOTO WHYYYY). However, the 50mp main on the 10T can be alright, a bit better than the 48mp main on the 7 Pro. This will be fine for the average user, but if you really want a flagship killer grade camera, this ain't it.

I actually bought the Chinese version which means it runs ColorOS 13 (same thing as OxygenOS 13). It's ok ig? I actually kinda want to revert to coloros 12.1 b/c of the APK limitation in Android 13. Otherwise the UI is smooth and interactive, so I'd say its on par with One UI 5.

Are you talking about the APK restriction for sideloaded apps that would want to use the accessibility API? What side loaded apps would you use that would require this access?

Why do you think the custom roms won't be here? The 10t seems more like the old school oneplus that I remember. Cheaper phone packed with the latest fastest chipset. I thought it would maybe bring some previous oneplus users back.

Apparently the msm tool to recover a soft bricked phone requires a username and password. So if you get in a bad bootloop and can't get back to bootloader, you may not be able to recover on your own. The EDL mode is what msm uses and is almost always going to fix a messed up flash.
Unless that changes, there may not be rom devs to build roms due to that risk. Though who knows what the future holds. It is still early in this devices life.
Depending on how important you find this:
- Camera is average. Unfortunate but not a deal breaker for me
- The alert slider is gone. I'm missing it but no deal breaker either
- The OS is no longer real Oxygen, which was loved by many, but now ColorOS. No true Android experience.
- No wireless charging. Idc about this.
I was planning on getting the Pixel 7, which is better imo. BUT I had a great deal where I got 350 euros off by trading in my old device. Then suddenly it was a no brainer. If you can find a decent deal, I would say the device is worth it. If you would pay full price, I would look into other devices as well. The whole selling point of Oneplus is gone.
That said, I'm loving:
- Battery, mostly the charging speed
- Performance and smoothness
- The 120Hz screen. If you had 120Hz before, you CANNOT go back. It would feel horrible!

So I've used the pixel 6 the pixel for a OnePlus 8 pro the Galaxy S10 and now the OnePlus 10t OnePlus has definitely been the smoothest operating system out of any Android phone I've ever used but this is easily the cheapest and most powerful phone I've ever bought into still cheaper than my OnePlus 8 pro is even though it's the April is a couple years old now and the performance on this thing is insane only downside is reading and modding is very limited at the moment which in time I'm pretty sure will open up more so if you're going for performance and usability I would definitely say It's a Good device if you're going for modding and rooting you should probably go to the pixel phones
Went to T-Mobile yesterday to buy the OP10T, but the store manager talked me into the Pixel 7. Should have gotten the OnePlus. Sharp edges and the fingerprint scanner works half the time. Going too see if they'll waive the restock fee.
