Help me with this!!!! - Moto G Power Questions & Answers

So I repaired my girlfriend water damaged moto g power or g8 power. And when I left it charging it starts to do the vibration of charging but screen is black. Before I waste my money, do you think I replace the screen. Because it vibrates and starts to work. But I am scared if it is a board problem. But it couldn't be. Also minimum detail the flash indicator of charging is broken, the pins of it where gone. Cheers

I think that's a screen problem, water damage affects them first usually

[Q] buying parts

hey guys,
i just bought a broken atrix off ebay. i just got it in the mail and took it apart and the phone is missing the flex cable for the digitizer. so i ordered a new digitizer. i noticed its blinking red so im guessing its bricked? but the lcd lights up but nothing shows up. do i need to buy an lcd screen as well?
no one has any ideas at all?
The red light could just mean that the battery is going dead. Have you charged it?

battery still had charge, well at least that is what the guy told me. but wouldn't a logo or low battery symbol appear if that was the case? instead of the backlight turning on and black screen?
Well, could mean that the LCD is no good. Usually, if it is bricked it would show an error message. So, if nothing is being shown then it might be the display. I would put it on the charger regardless. Does the notification light go on when you plug it in while the phone is off? It should flash green and then either go to yellow or stay green.

Does the phone sync to your computer via USB? When putting in the motherboard angle the usb ports first so they are fully seated. Then make sure the bottom ribbon cable (LCD) is fully seated on the motherboard, you will have room to lift it up a little. Use a razor blade to push up on the cable to make sure it is fully seated and make sure you hear a snap when push down the board. Also screw down the backplate where the LCD ribbon is located. Then plug in the phone with the battery out. If it's bricked you will still get a failure to boot screen. There are also problems with the board that could cause video problems. It's best to have a few parts phones of the same model to find the real problem.

yeah the led turns green when i plug in the charger but i tried a hard reset (the vol down and power) the led flashes green but still get a blank black screen. i usually buy new parts all together just in case but the guy i bought it from said he tried to fix it himself but ended up ripping off the flex cable from the digitizer so i think the lcd is new as well. at least that is what i hope.

i know, i already disassembled the phone to assess the damage. is there a way to know if the lcd is damaged or faulty visually without being plugged into the phone?

[Q] Power button issues

Gentleman, my optimus g is showing some really strange behavior. If the battery is fully charged, or above 60%, it works flawless, after it drops below that, there is a chance that the power button will start locking in the pressed down position. After this happens, it is a no come back, the phone keeps bootlooping until the battery goes dry. At first I thought this was a problem with the battery, I got It replaced and the problem persists. I am starting to think this is a problem with the power button flex cable, and I was wandering if anyone knows how to replace it. I've replaced cell phone's screens and such, I have taken the motherboard out and found the flex cable, but I am not sure how to remove it, as it seems that it is firmly glued to the chassis. If anyone could give me some suggestions I would appreciate it, thanks

This exact thing happened to me about a month ago. Whats happening is your battery is basically dead/at 0% or 1%. When you try and charge it the phone gets hot so it's not gonna charge.
What i did was literally put the phone on ice. You gotta get a bowl big enough to put a bunch of ice in, then put some kind of layer over that. Like a bag or foil. Something to keep your phone from getting wet. Now sit your phone on top of the ice and plug it into the charger. The phone is gonna slow charge and it'll take a couple hours to charge 4 or 5%. Wait 3 hours while keeping it on ice/charging it. Then take it off the charger and it should turn on. Now put it back on the charger and it'll charge normally. Idk how much of this made sense to you, but this worked for me after trying many other things.
Thank you so much. you have helped revive a dead phone. I followed your instructions to the letter and after three and a half hours found the phone to have charged to 60%.
The ice really worked. The heat wasn't allowing it to charge.

I'm glad yours worked out but my case is a little different. One night I was playing games for hours and hours and while I had the charger connected so it wont die on me and when I started to notice that it's getting pretty hot, I put it down and its still charging and let it charge overnight. When I woke up the phone won't turn on anymore. When I hold the power for a long time it would start blinking but the screen won't turn on or anything and when I let go of the power button it will stop blinking, power + volume up or down combinations has not effect or whatsoever.
So I decided to connect it to my laptop thinking that maybe it got brick and I'll restore with LGNPST but it won't even recognize the phone, no matter what button combinations I make. So I was thinking maybe the battery was bad so I bought a new battery, removed the screws &cover but when I installed the new battery the damn thing still won't turn on. So now I'm thinking maybe it's the charging port, I have replaced the charging/mic module as well and went through all the trouble of disassembling the phone BUT IT STILL WON'T TURN ON!
I don't know if this method will work but it won't hurt I guess but considering I have replaced the battery already and the phone had already cooled-down since it's been days that I can't turn it on. ANYONE OUT THERE CAN SHED SOME LIGHT PLEASE!
farewell LOG
well for trying almost everything even to the point of replacing parts I guess it's time for me to say goodbye to my beloved LG Optimus G. It's sad coz this phone is pretty powerful and good looking too, I dont even think I've unlocked the full potential of this phone but it served pretty damn well and unfortunately I think it's out of warranty already since I've had it for almost 2 years now.
So Sayunara LGOG!

I could probably help with your problem too if it's not too late. This same thing happened to my mom's phone(She has the LG Optimus G as well) My first guess was to replace her motherboard. I ordered her another optimus g from EBay that had a cracked screen and cracked back for $40(make sure it's an unlocked phone). The internal hardware was all in working order. I simply replaced the motherboard in hers with the one from Ebay, and it worked. If you haven't gotten rid of the phone yet you could try this. I found a teardown guide on youtube that made it really easy to remember where to disconnect and reconnect everything to the motherboard. The only downside to this is it's basically a new phone and anything not stored on your sd card will be gone. It's like a factory reset.
hey mate, wow I didnt think anyone would reply to my post anymore.. thanks for replying, anyway no I havent gotten rid of it yet though I already got a Galaxy S5 if I can fix it soon I can still return the S5 coz right now I'm not happy with it coz of the locked bootloader.
I was actually thinking of doing that since I've already gone through all troubles of replacing the mic/charging port module so why not just continue experimenting on it. I will follow your advice but do you know anywhere or anyone else I can find just like the one you got?
Your advice is greatly appreciated, thanks

Screen not turning on after water damage

Unfortunately I dropped my phone into a toilet. I recovered it quickly and opened it up and removed the motherboard and dried it out. The battery was damaged so i bought a replacement. Unfortunately I broke the fingerprint Cable when removing the lid.
I've reassembled the device but the screen is not displaying anything. The device is charging as the red light appears. The capacitive buttons also light and the volume buttons make a sound but the screen is showing nothing.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Suddenly stopped working, no root.

S9 plus 64gb
Hi all, was hoping someone could help.
I have recently, last month, changed the battery, so I know it's not the battery. When I plug in a charger the phone is unresponsive, drawing only 0.05amps. if I leave it over night the green led will light up and when I press the power key the screen says 100%. When I try to boot there is no response. I have tried
Power +vol down
Power +vol up
Power +vol up +down
Power and all buttons
For about 30sec but still no boot or anything. I'm thinking maybe fried board, but was hoping software issue. Is there anything i could try to boot it?
Many thanks
Possible that a connector came loose?
Make sure no foreign conductive debris was accidentally introduced... a small loose screw. Check that all screws are in place in the assemblies.
Is the power switch good?
Hi thanks for the reply, I checked there's no loose or foreign object near the charge port. When I assembled the phone all screws were replaced so no loose screws. When the phone is charged ,ie green led I press the power button and the phone activates the screen to display 100%, this tells me the power button is working. Do you have anymore suggestions would be helpful. Many thanks.

If it won't go into the boot menu it's not looking good. Try a hard reset.
The subassemblies when out of circuit are susceptible to ESD damage. Handle these like a stick of ram particularly the mobo and display. At the very least raise room humidity to 50% and wear all clothes. In addition a earth grounded ESD mat and wrist strap are recommended as are following ESD protocols.
Otherwise you may or may not get away with it.
Hi thanks for the help. Yh the problem occurred during normal use. How would I do a hard reset if no menus are displaying? Many thanks.

Pull battery connection.
Recheck all ribbon connectors while you're at it.
Yep done that still the same. No response. Guess the main board maybe fried.
