Unfortunately I dropped my phone into a toilet. I recovered it quickly and opened it up and removed the motherboard and dried it out. The battery was damaged so i bought a replacement. Unfortunately I broke the fingerprint Cable when removing the lid.
I've reassembled the device but the screen is not displaying anything. The device is charging as the red light appears. The capacitive buttons also light and the volume buttons make a sound but the screen is showing nothing.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone.
I dropped my phone today, and the screen broke.
The phone still seems to work properly, but the classic signs of a broken LCD are present: purple screen with many many lines and nothing legible.
I have ordered a replacement screen already, but I cannot get the phone to shut down and stay turned off.
Since the screen is broken internally, it does not respond to my touch.
I can hold down the power button for 15 seconds but that does a reset, and the phone automatically turns back on.
Is there anyway to keep the phone off other than by draining the battery completely?
I need to keep it powered down so that I can disassemble it safely.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

I don't know of any way, but as long as you are careful while disassembling you should be fine. You should be able to pry the screen out enough that you can disconnect the battery before disconnecting the screen. I doubt disconnecting the screen with the phone on would damage anything anyway. I believe people do this iPhone screens all the time to test them.
Yesterday, my phone fell (not very hard, onto a carpeted floor). I picked it up and put it in my pocket without looking.. When I went to check my phone, it was off. I tried to turn it on, but it would only go to the HTC screen, then the screen would go black but the home icons would be lit up. I took the battery out and let it sit for a couple of hours. Tried to put it back in and the phone wouldn't turn on at all. I put it on the charger, it turned red for about 5 seconds, turned off, then repeats. If I try to turn the phone on, the LED light blinks a very dim red for 2 seconds then stops. I can't even hold the volume button and the power button, it just blinks the dim red. As far as I know, it is not rooted. I got it second hand about a year ago after my phone got stolen. I have never had any problems with it other than the camera.. It just stopped working eventually. Help?
Anytime you drop the phone, even if it wasn't a hard hit, it can damage something on the main board, which could be your problem. However, since you say the led is very dim red, that is a sign that the battery itself is damaged and won't charge. I would try to get a cheap battery off ebay to see if that's the problem.
You probably damaged some micro vital componants on your motherboard which is preventing your device to function in a normal way.
must be motherboard, or some other chip
ok so was riding on a kayak, flipped but i held the phone above the water the whole time...guess got some water because of the splash, but the 2 water indicators i see, on battery and under are fine. left the phone in rice for 12 hours. tried turning on and screen flickers some green multi color. i can tell it works, plug in charge led changes, volume buttons work, i can swipe up on screen.
anything i could do?
im rooted, should i have any concerns returning for warranty? if so, anyway to return to stock with screen not working? like i said phone looks like it behaves normal, blue led when starting, charging led when plugged in, volume keys work, can swipe up on screen etc.
thanks
Hello,
I have been struggling to find a solution for months now. My problem with the LG G5 started when it complained about the bottom cover. Every now and then it would show a screen that the bottom cover is not plugged in correctly. By unplugging and plugging it a few times the screen would go. Eventually, although I am not sure if it is related, the phone stopped turning on. When the USB cable is plugged in I get a screen showing the battery is at 0% and the red LED flashes as well.
I have tried the following:
1) Replaced the battery
2) Replaced the bottom cover
3) Inspected the logic board and cleaned it with a PCB cleaner.
Note that the phone had no contact with water.
I would really appreciate it if someone knows what could be the fault.
Many thanks
have recently replaced the battery in my Huawei Nova CAN-L01, along with the power circuit (the USB dock etc.).
The replacement wasn’t really hard but I have a major problem now.
I have tried to boot the phone, and the screen is just black. The backlight works, the OS boots fine (PC detects it), it responds to pressing the power button (backlight turns on or off), BUT no image is displayed.
My first thought was that the LCD got damaged since replacing the battery requires a lot of flexing around it, but It was not - I have tested another working LCD and it is also black.
I have also cleaned the LCD connector with IPA.
I have tried disconnecting the battery and holding the power button for over 5 minutes - didn’t work.
I cannot hard reset the phone since the screen is black and I can’t see the hard reset menu.
I have also tried booting with the old battery and old power circuit, but the result is the same.
Any clues of what could I do?
