i currently have a TMO S21, and id love to get away from their locked version of the software, but from my reading i need an earlier version build then even what i have...
Build Number:
SP1A.210812.016.G991USQU5CVGB
from what i read, i needed to have the '4' version and roll it back, and cant find, or missed if i can do it with the '5' version, if i might still be in luck, can i be pointed in the right direction so i can read on what to do?

So, when you say 'their locked version' of their software, do you mean the sim carrier lock? From what I understand, you can't carrier unlock easily, no matters what version of the OS you have.
Also, yer right, I don't think there is a safe way to roll back from 5. But I think you can flash to another 5, if u want to do that. So if u mean 'locked' in the sense it's t-mo bloat crap, then I think you can use modded odin and go to an Open version.

I haven't tried any of these, but do google search for "samsung galaxy s21 how to rollback version" and there are some utube vids supposedly how to do it. U are right, Samsung officially doesn't allow it.

by locked, is all the limits that TMO puts on the phone and using android, i cant even switch the phones VM # to use google voice, i can forward the numbers for not picking up, but even that doesnt always work....
i dont need root and all the other stuff, just the basic samsng version would be fine with me... if i could just go from SM-G991U to SM-G991U1 id be happy....
last time ive done anything like that was for an S9, so yeah, its been a good while....
it wont even let me boot into bootloader..... i select it, and it does a full reboot back into the OS.... so i think im hosed....
with the proper ODIN, would i be able to go from G991USQU5CVGB to G991U1UEU5CVGB?
they are the same BIT? so im thinking that should work, but would like someone smarter than me to chime in...
plz and thank you-
nvm, as im typing i realzed, i still have the issue of getting into bootloader.... smh....

Why thank you good sir
I just would like to know how many different editions are there for the 7510 because as far as I know, a change in bootloader shouldn't affect the use/flash of CWM. This isn't Apple.

I thought all models of the 7510 were WiFi only. Thus the difference between 7500 (Wifi + Mobile carrier) and 7510 (WiFi + No Mobile carrier)
I could be completely wrong in my thinking. So please tell me if I am. Also if I'm wrong could you point me where I can see a 7510 with a mobile carrier? Please don't say Google, I don't care enough to go searching for something I don't think exists. I guess I would search if you give me what keywords are going to yield results.

Sorry but I'm lost.
You lost me at "should I use the same command prompt"
Then again at "Fastboot flash OEM unlock"
My only advice that could be relevant is to goto the sticky in development section and follow or at least read s0ckm0nkeys guide to rooting and see if you can get where you want using or reading it.
Like I said, I'm lost so my suggestion is only a guess about what might already be posted about doing what you want/need.
Hopefully this will help, but keep us updated.
Edit: just realized I haven't re-read the whole thread so I will and if I notice anything that gets gets me UN-lost, I'll come back and post more.
Edit2: so this page is the whole post LOL so yes I'm still lost and the above suggestion of checking the sticky guide is all I can offer.

Well this is my 2 cent's WiFi or not some models come carrier locked, Verzion probably sells the WiFi and 3G model's but I'm in the dark on their product sales, They probably lock it for certain reasons, I don't really know the details.
I have a 3G 64GB 7500 and yeah it came with a locked bootloader, but as far as I know flashing a CWM should take care of that problem. Because after flashing CWM I didn't see the locked logo anymore.

Guess it's possible. Carriers do some strange things. Why they would even offer a wifi only version, besides profit from the initial sale, is beyond me. Still being wifi only, I can't see how it could be "tied" to any carrier. Even if sold by one. I mean it's wifi only, how could they "tie" it to themselves besides labeling it Verizon or whatever? I guess if you're contracted to their wifi access it could be tied to their wifi access points. Like I said they do some pretty strange things. But still it would be easily "un-tied".
From everything I have ever read or seen the 7510 is wifi only not carrier related at all and I've never read or seen a 7100 that's not sold by or "tied" to a carrier of some type. Therefore my thinking of the 7500 & 7510 difference.
Don't they both basically come with a "locked" bootloader anyway and flashing cwm unlocks them? Never seeing or hearing of the lock logo on a 7510 though.
Maybe this is where I get lost again with different terms used actually meaning the same thing or something other than what I think it means. Such as, I think wifi only means just that, wifi only, and that is what makes it a 7510 and not a 7500. If that's not the difference I wish someone would tell or show me so I could quit showing my ignorance.
I was being sincere and not trying to sound rude asking for someone to point me to somewhere that actually corrects my thinking if I'm wrong here. Because I've never seen it and am too lazy and/or stuck in my thinking to "try" to prove myself wrong.
Once again, its way past my bedtime, I'm laying here in bed trying to figure out what in actually trying to say. Probaly talking out my arse again.

As far as I know AT&T has the same with the new Sony NGP or Vita as they all it , probably because the carrier has some unlimited monthly data plan or something that can be shared of as a personal hotspot, I don't know really, one of the many marketing strategies. Could sell the Wifi version cheaper with some sort of portable internet router on a plan. The company SMART here does that, they sell you this tiny little pocket router with a 3G sim in it and there was an offer for the iPad non WiFI included.
And it's all good mate It's still very informative stuff, I haven't touched or kissed US soil in order to know what goes on with their carrier plans, I admire the fact you being updated, for someone in his prime >:]
And yeah, I think/assume it does unlock it because my tablet no longer shows the locked logo when booting it to fastboot
I there, I just flashed the stock ROM for the 3.2 Android version on my 7500 using Odin and my carrier logo was replaced by the Samsung logo. My Tab is still locked to my carrier because I decided not to unlock it yet - didnt find a cheapper carrier anyways

Hi all,
I read a lot of stuff about locked bootloader and scary stories of bricked tab.
I saw the great videos from qbking about rooting and flash about odin (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1462961)
but it never mentionned locked bootloader.
I bought a retail 10.1 tab without any carrier stuff but I assume that my BL is also locked.
Is it safe to follow the root and flash process without unlocking its BL ?

I flashed an entire new version of Android (3.2) with Odin and found no problems. Another thing, I have my Tab since November and only last week unlock it from carrier... just for fun!
Thanks viarizi !
Did you unlock your tab before flashing your 3.2 image ?
Regards.
Actualy I unlocked it from carrier 3 weeks after flashing new droid version.
First I unrooted it, then flashed new droid version with Odin, finaly unlock it from carrier using a regular Samsung phone unlocker software (unfortunely I dont know which one just that it had roms for almost all Samsung phones).
Can someone please explain if the bootloader is locked or not (if you don't see the unlocked padlock)? I don't get how we can manipulate the kernel if they're locked... Are they (kernels) getting replaced, or is something else happening to them when I flash a ROM (ie. pershoot's CM9)? Also, is there a method to unlock the GT-P7510 bootloader if it is locked? Would fastboot work?
Sorry for confusing you, I've just read so many different things about the bootloader I'm lost now!

This was the reason I posted the question...GUIDANCE..THX MotoMudder77. The thing is that I was under the impression that the phone was on roaming status because it was made for AT&T and if used on any other network it will show roaming.

So I unrooted the phone using 2a.) Flash the UCKH7-CL503881 stock kernel and system package using Odin3 One-Click Downloader (Windows) (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1313659) and did a factory reset. The only thing I can't do is to lock the phone back to AT&T sim cards, so pretty much the phone still unlocked. I still have the same problem, every time I pop that DOCOMO SIM card in and look at the phone status, it still shows roaming when I know that's not the case.
Do you think if a change the modem/radio it will go away?

You dont want to re-lock the phone, if thats even possible.
but being that your on a stock at&t ROM, the fact that your on a different carrier than at&t, the phone probably just thinks its roaming.
You could try an international ROM, if you hellraise it, or grab a ported one from the ported dev section.

I was able to locked the phone with samsung galaxy unlock app from the market and unlocked it with the same app. You are right, because the phone is on a different carrier than at&t it thinks that is roaming when we know it's not. I flashed Shostock2 v2.2.6 w/cherrypicker v1.1 and I still get the roaming status. Schostock2 is a i9100 ICS base rom but that didn't work, don't get me wrong I'm loving Shostock2 it's just annoying having that r right next to the signal bars.

Hi,
I have a Galaxy S9+ that was originally on Sprint, but I unlocked it with them after paying it off and moved to a different carrier (Mint Mobile.) However, it is still full of the sprint bloatware and always prompts for carrier updates that never work. I'm assuming this is because it is trying to get Sprint stuff still?
I was thinking of flashing to the unlocked rom, but I am a bit puzzled with this phone. It seems tricker than other phones I've flashed. I've flashed all my other android phones previously, but I'm nervous and don't want to brick this device by flashing the wrong file! Can someone point me in the right direction, please?

Mine didn't... We left sprint about 4 months ago and it still has all the sprint bloatware and the splash screen, etc... I can't get it to go away! Sprint confirmed the device is completely unlocked on their end.

You could flash the U1(factory unlocked) firmware ending in 3ARK5. It was recommended to me to use the one with product code XAA, which I guess is purely carrier-free. When you flash it you'll want to use the patched Odin and use CSC rather than HOME_CSC, so that it will fully wipe your phone and set everything all up to work properly according to your sim card.
@YrrchSebor, I couldn't find 3ARK5/XAA. I did find 3ARJ5/XAR here:

I actually flashed over from Verizon over a month ago, and I got a string of OTA updates up to ARJ6, but for some reason I got no update to ARK5, so I just flashed it manually. The main thing is to use a firmware with the same bootloader version, which you have by chosing one with a 3. I will say I couldn't be happier since switching to the unlocked firmware.

Hmm, that Odin might be an official one? You want the one with patcheD in the file name, looks like you can get it in the first post here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/patched-odin-3-13-1-t3762572
Reason for this is that official Odin will not flash a firmware that doesn't match up with what is already on the phone, so the patched version ignores that check.
Awesome. I'll download that one, then.
Thanks again for your help!
Sounds good, good luck and keep us posted.
Sorry, one more question to clarify- should I just clash the CSC or would you recommend I do BL, AP, and CP as well?

No problem, you'll wanna do all of them. Definitely AP because I believe that's the system with the apps(or lack of) and everything else. I did all four of them and that way my phone is fully as if it was a U1 out of the box.
Sweet. And I should just leave USERDATA blank right? So it is a complete factory reset?
Yep, you won't find a userdata in that download anyway. Just use CSC instead of HOME_CSC and it should all be good. Back anything up first if you really need it later. after the flash it will boot up and then shut down again so that it can configure everything according to your sim, so make sure and let that happen.
Success! Working better than before now. Thanks for your help.
Arright, glad you got it working, enjoy! One of my favorite things about the unlocked firmware has got to be the free built-in caller ID
As someone living in the USA and using T-Mobile as a provider, is there a significant difference between the XQ-CQ54 and XQ-CQ72 models? If so, which one should I go with?
I will not be using the XQ-CQ62 (US version) because the bootloader cannot be unlocked and I would like to use a custom ROM.
You can unlock the bootloader on 62 but it cost about 20 bucks..its a recent hack ... Xda isnt allowing guides with money involved so that's why theres none posted here.
Other then that i think 54 version aka european is way better then chinese 72. Just for esim alone

I have the US version and found out the hard way that its bootloader can't be unlocked. I've always had a rooted phone, BUT I would say this phone has everything that I want and need. And Android 13 now has features that I used root phones to get. On the flip side, I have seen people that have the 1 iv US version and they've used the mentioned tool, and were able to change the no to a yes. As long as Sony keeps pumping out updates, I'm good for now on stock, but I may revisit the tool if updates stop.

All that I was saying is that I may be open to trying the "workaround" to enable bootloader unlock on the US version later on. Please explain to me how that is nonsense. Or if you know of a way to change the no to a yes on these locked down versions, I'm all ears.
I have the US version and found out the hard way that its bootloader can't be unlocked

That's a pretty direct statement which is made up of nonsense.
No to yes and unlocking the bootloader is possible. See the thread about the so-54c or check my posts.

That's all you needed to say. I was only verifying that I ran into the same situation. I'll check out your posts, and read up. I haven't had an Xperia in almost 10 years, so I'm getting caught up.
