Unexpected shutdowns - Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Questions & Answers

Why does my screen go blank when I move the tablet from upright to horizontal? I hold it in an upright position and power up, then go to App that I want and start reading. While I'm reading I lay the tablet on my desk to continue reading and the screen goes black. If I raise the tab back to the vertical position the screen comes back to life with the "home" screen displayed. I need to sweep up the screen for my app to reappear. I have the Time Out set for 30 minutes. Is there any other setting I need to check?

Screen quickly turns off

For some reason my screen quickly turns itself off when I awake it from stand by. It's like 3 or 4 seconds and then the screen will turn off, I can normally get around it by quickly pressing a button and this will keep the screen on.
It's also not a constant problem, after a soft reset the problem seems to go away for a random period of time and then return.
Any one else experience similar?

Click to collapse
Just go to Sound and Display --> Backlight --> Set it for longer.

That doesn't work mainly cause there isn't an option to turn the backlight off after 3 seconds
sorry, wrong tab selected
pls delete.

lock screen timeout tied to regular screen timeout?

Ok, so after doing all my searching and what not, it seems that for whatever reason the time it takes for the lock screen to time out is tied to the regular screen timeout.
What I mean by this, is when you first hit the sleep/wake button and its on the lock screen, but you don't unlock it, the time it takes for that screen to go to sleep is the same as if you had unlocked it and not used it.
For me at least, this is a major battery life issue. I like to leave the screen timeout at minimum at 5 minutes, because I use my phone's LCD as a flashlight quite often (LGP500 doesn't have a camera flash), and read websites fairly often. Also, I tend to keep my phone in my pocket (who doesn't?), so when walking or moving it's very likely one of the hardware buttons (sleep/wake, home etc.) will be accidentally pressed inside my pocket at least once every short while, basically keeping the screen on permanently.
I'd like to know if anyone has any ideas on how to change this.
Just as a side note, I realize it's possible for rogue apps to keep the screen from timing out, but I've made sure that its not the case here - when the timeout is changed to 15 seconds, the screen turns off at the correct interval.
Anyone have any ideas?

[Q] WidgetLocker causes screen to come back on

How do I make WidgetLocker launch without waking the screen? Every time I press power, it turns the screen back on after about 3 seconds, then I can press it again and it stays off. Apparently this is because the Archos firmware (I have UrukDroid 1.0, same either way) turns screen on when _any_ app is launched in the background, unless it's a service.

[Q] How to turn on screen by touching it? (while it isn't locked yet)

Hello, I come from a Nokia 5800 and this behavior was common in CFWs, but I can't find anything similar on android yet.
What I mean is, android's behavior is something like this:
- 30 seconds go by and the screen dims.
- 5 seconds more and screen turns off.
- 2 seconds more and lockscreen kicks in.
- If you want to use the phone now, you must press power or home button.
In Nokia 5800, it was something like this, and what I'm looking on android:
- 30 seconds go by and screen dims.
- 5 seconds more and screen turns off.
- xx seconds more and lockscreen kicks in. Also (this is the important part!) if you tap the screen at this point while the screen is off, it turns on back again! Kinda like when its dim and you touch it and it lights up again. Same behavior but with screen off!
My question is, Is there some way to replicate this behavior on android?
Thanks.

Strange screen behavior

Hello,
Yesterday I have unlocked my phone with my finger print (like I always do) and it took about 5-6 seconds for the screen to show something. The backlight turned on rather quickly but the screen remained black. After the screen turned on, it had a bad case of screen retention, the colors were also darker and I could not use the buttons from the bottom of the screen. A reboot solved all this problems.
Also, sometimes when I turn on the screen, it quickly goes dark and the slowly comes back to the initial state. During this time I cannot use the touch screen. It is like it does the wake up of the screen all over again.
I think this is a software issue (I have V20C on H850) and it might be related to the always on display. Also, all of these problems happened when I woke my phone using only the finger print (not pressing the button or knocking on the screen).
Did anything like this happen to you?
