View and delete photos from external USB - Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 / S7 Plus Questions & Answer

Hi,
Im using my Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 in order to review and edit my photography.
I connect an external SD card reader to the tablet using the type-c port.
My Files, as long as many other file explorer apps can list the folders and files on the SD card, however I can't see the USB drive on any gallery app (tried many of them; including Samsung's Gallery, Google Photos and Gallery, etc.).
Is there any way to view and delete the photos on the USB drive directly with My Files?
If not, is there any app I can use that will simply let me review the photos and delete the ones I don't need without opening each one of them separately in a another gallery app?
Thanks

Is the reader a OTG rated one?

The Gallery app doesn't work with external drives connected via USB. Just internal memory and (if the phone supports it) internal microSD.
Yes, you can copy, delete, move, and edit files using the My Files app. Another good app is Solid Explorer. Keep in mind, the external drive cannot be encrypted (i.e. Bitlocker). Also, most platter type external drives won't work. They usually require more power than the phone can deliver.
Both Solid Explorer and My Files apps can connect to cloud storage, FTP, local network shares. Solid Explorer is the more powerful of the two; it has more choices.
Solid state type drives like SSDs, microSD, SD, flashdrives, etc., should all work with the My Files app.
I like both, but I use My Files more often because it is a little more intuitive to use than Solid Explorer.

[Q] Force storage on internal memory?

Hello, quick question.. search function appears to be disabled atm, so apologies if this is a duplicate.
I use my 3vo to stream mp3s from the SD card (USB connection mounted as Disk Drive) when driving - when doing so, the 3vo is unable to see the SD's files, meaning that Ringtones, Navigation voices, and anything else that the handset wants/needs to access are unavailable.
I've got Astro file explorer and tried copy/pasting files into the phone's internal folders (Notifications / Ringtones etc) but it would not let me do so.
Can someone please kindly show me a way to force the phone to allow these files onto the internal memory, and regarding Google Navigation, how can i tell it to look for voice synthesis files internally, were i to successfully locate & relocate that information?
many thanks in advance.

stream? as in how? i play music through my phone in my car and everything works fine. when music is playing and someone calls, it rings through my speakers, same with notifications.
well, when you mount the SD card as a hard drive, it restricts simultaneous access from the phone handset.. The car stereo is reading that hard drive, so the phone cannot get access to notification sounds, ringtones & Google Navi voices that are all stored on that SD.
So, all im asking is how to move files onto the internal storage - Astro doesnt appear to let me do this.
thanks

[Q] Transfer photos from camera to Nook Tablet directly

Is is possible ? I heard there was Camera Connection Kit that helped camera transfer directly photos to iPad.
So, can we do this with Nook Tablet?
You could use something like Google plus or Dropin.

I transfer photos easily. I use a micro sd card in my camera ( with an sd adapter) and just pop the micro sd card into my nt. I use es file explorer to copy and paste onto my nt. I have created a folder in /data just for photos and videos from my camera. You have to change permissions on the /data folder to create the sub folder and then just change them back. I also made a shortcut on my desktop to the folder i made for easy access. The only hitch with this is that the photos don't show up in the gallery app, but when you select the photo in file explorer it will give you app options to open and view.
Doh, I was thinking you were talking about pictures on your phone.

Nope, I mean 2 separate devices and connect them without internet or PC
I don't believe the nt has usb hosting enabled.
The NC allowed for Eye-FI to be used, which is a wifi enabled sd card that beams pics to your pc, phone, or whatever, but I don't think the app is able to be used on the NT...not in my brief attempt anyway.
There is a very good chance this will work with roms in the near future
EyeFi X2 SDcard in my camera works very well with the Nook Tablet and the EyeFi App on the market. The perfect mobile combination to instantly view images on a larger display such as the NT.

Why can't I see all my folders when I connect to my PC?

So I have a motorola photon and when I connect to my PC the full internals are viewable for me.
With my new prime all I see are transfer folders and limited number of internal folders. I cannot see the storage partition of the prime like I can on my Photon. Is there something wrong with my tablet? Do I need a special app? What am I missing here?
The Prime does not mount the SD card as a drive the way you are used to on your Photon. The Prime uses MTP, same as the new digital cameras. This allows you access to your media folders, but not system folders. A quick work-around is to copy the files you want to one of the media folders, then use a file browsing app like Root Explorer to move it from the media folder to your desired location on the internal memory.

Yea I found the thread on ES File Explorer once I figured out the proper terms to narrow down my search to my problem and used that to transfer over my kindle books and the like.
Why can't I hold all these folders?
Sent from my tablet thing with XDA Premium.
I've resorted to using FTP (DroidFTP Pro) in order to get the files where I want them.. MTP is so annoying.

Where are photos and videos stored?

Can someone please tell me where I can find the photos and videos so I can import them to HDD? I am runing stock rooted rom, connecting to Win7 64bit PC. It detects the phone as a mobile device, but when I browse the phone and jum in to DCIM where I'd expect to see the data, it's empty. Unplugging the phone, I can see the files using the gallery app. So the images are there somewhere.
Help greatly appreciated. I'm running low on space and still haven't received my 32GB card.
are these images that were ALREADY on the phone?
pictures you have taken?
you should know the folder that they are in, and it only takes a couple more clicks of the mouse to open folders on the SD card and find them...lol
try the folders called, Pictures, Videos, Ringtones and what not.
Sounds stupid, I know, but the problem is that it seems the device is moving and storing all my pics and videos to /data/media/dcim/camera. And I can't access this folder from my PC. Not in portable media player mode, at least.

so use the file explorer on your phone and create another folder on the root of the SD and move them there. then see if your comp can see them.
Whats strange is that it shows the "sdcard" when I am using the stock internal mem. I don't have any SD in there yet. I suppose it's picking up the internal memory as SD, but for whatever reason the memory size seems to be constantly changing. I'll try that and see what happens.
Yes the internel Memory comes up as SD Card.
your external would be Ext card under the Mnt Folder.
I'll keep that in mind. I ended up using Android Commander to go to the folder and just pulled the files from there. Wish there were some way to mount the internal as USB drive.

[Q] CamScanner says SD Card is full, when its not

I have a Galaxy Note SGH-i717M on stock rooted ICS 4.0.4. I use CamScanner (version 2.1.1.20130425) a lot. I've used it so much that now it keeps popping up an error that says "SD Card is full" whenever I open it. Recently I scanned a large amount of documents in batch mode. Most of the pages got processed, but a few are left stuck with an hourglass icon overlayed on the pages. I have emailed IntSig (the company who makes CamScanner) and have not received any response, despite being a premium user. This is why I'm here asking for help.
I checked my storage and I have:
Internal Storage: 540MB/1.97GB Available
USB Storage: 0.00B/10.84GB Available
SD card: 19.42GB/29.71GB Available
So it looks like CamScanner is calling my "USB storage" an sd card. I identified the location of CamScanner files in /mnt/sdcard/CamScanner/ (this is not the sd card, despite the name). And I know that the sd card is actually on /mnt/sdcard/external_sd/
I looked through all of CamScanner's settings and there is no where you can specify where it should save files, unfortunately. I would much rather have had CamScanner store its files on my 32gb micro sd card on /mnt/sdcard/external_sd/CamScanner than occupy the very little space I have on the usable internal storage (USB Storage) on the phone
I've had to delete apps on my internal storage to try and get CamScanner to complete its batch processing (so that I can eventually make PDFs of the processed images). Now I have run out of apps to delete on my internal storage. Is there anything that can be done about this? I would like to use CamScanner without deleting more apps every time I scan things. Is there a way to force CamScanner to use my microsd?
Thanks
I use camscanner too. The problem is that the app does much more than save the scan somewhere. It needs room for manipulating the scan. But seriously....your usb memory is completely full? That can't be 100% apps. There has got to be something stored there that you could move to the external sd card. Not to mention without any free usb memory, I am not sure that the phone with all its features and misc apps will not function properly.

I've moved all the apps that live on internal storage to the sd card using app2sd with the exception of 3-4 apps that I need widgets for on the homescreen. Other apps that cannot be moved to the sd card, that I don't need, I have uninstalled already. The rest of the internal space is being occupied by CamScanner and its files to the tune of 5GB+. So it's mostly CamScanner that is now occupying all my internal storage space now (10.84 GB usable internal storage).
I do not want it occupying the majority of my internal storage space anymore. I don't see an end to me using CamScanner ever because it is so useful to me, so the storage occupied by CamScanner will only grow over time. Short of the developers responding to my emails about changing the location and it all working out, I have to figure out something else in the mean time. And yes, I also fear about the other apps not working properly with 0.00 B internal storage left
This is why I'm asking if its possible to move where CamScanner puts its files from, say, /mnt/sdcard/CamScanner to /mnt/sdcard/external_sd/CamScanner using whatever mechanisms possible. Is this possible? Do you know how to do it?
Why not just make a folder on the real sd card called camscanner and move the files there yourself? Once the files are scanned and converted to pdf then there is no sense that they remain in the original folder. Use a file manager on the phone or use your pc to simply move them.

Good idea, I didnt think of that. This will do for now!

Where does cam scanner stores backups?

Since*it*is*a*backup*app*which*is*used*mostly*before*a*factory*reset,*it*makes*little*sense*to*backup*to*the

You*can*find*the*files*here,*after*the*Android*smartphone*is*connected*to*the*PC:
