I used to be able to double tap my HOME button on my droid and it would automatically launch the VoiceTalk app while I was driving. Then I updated the firmware to allow for WI-FI calling and now it no longer launches the app. I can't figure out how to set it back up. So here I am posting to you great and all knowing people....looking for an answer. It is not a setting that I manually did, that I am aware of, as I have 2 of these phones and both of them have the same issue.
Thanks in advance!
Post Edit: I contacted T-Mobile and apparently, they removed it from the double tap feature and if you now hold down the search glass in the lower right hand corner, it will bring up 4 apps you can use. I still like the double tap feature, but might have to live with this change....
hi all, as the title tells is there a way to make it possible? a single tap, double tap or as per user choice, or touching specific area in the display to wake the screen.
the display does wakes from sleep mode when receiving mail, calls extra without touching the keys, so can the same mechanism be achieved to unlock the screen?

This thread may be a good start. It's an app that lets you re-map the double tap to launch a certain apk. If you somehow change that to the unlock command or create a very basic app that unlocks once open then it should work.

i think we have to remap the wake event sent by home button or power button to the display unit, lets ask the app dev in your link and see if we can get something fruitful
according to me its a wierd feature..that requires tap to unlock......
always sliding is better nd stylish to use...........
tapping to unlock is a ****ty idea that all nokia symbian based phones exists......
so devs doesnt focussed on this .........
try widget locker or go locker, it provides as many as better nd good screenlocks than u said to make implement by devs.......

Put it this way, how about waking the phone from sleep mode using tap instead of pressing power key or home key. Won't that be useful ?

I think if that's the case (waking the phone by just tapping and not through the power button) buddy then the phone should be awake to recognize the tap causing battery drain and prevents the phone from going to deep sleep. On the other hand unlocking the phone by double tap might just be a good idea

I wonder what happened about this? Would really be useful, no progress eh?
Does anyone know if a rom which has options "tap to wake" or "tap to unlock" as in G2 ?
You need modifications in kernel in order to do this, and I doubt it would be battery efficient enough to make it work on this phone.

So one of the main things I hated when switching to the LG G3 is the fact that I'm someone who likes to use third party launchers like Nova Launcher. Because of that, I lost one of the main selling points of the LG G3, double-tap to turn off the screen from the Home Screen. Well, this morning I had some random epiphany and realized there's gotta be an app to turn off the screen without using the button on your phone, and remembered Nova has a gestures and clicks shortcut feature to perform tasks. So whether you have an LG G3 and are in my situation OR someone who has ANY other Android device and wants to do this too, be sure to check out my latest

You do realize you can just tap the notification bar to turn the screen off, no matter which launcher you're running, right?

Sure do! But it's a bigger phone, I don't want to reach up all the time, especially if I can avoid it. Not to mention that on the home screen my notification bar is hidden to save extra screen real-estate. So while that feature is nice in apps, it's not always the most convenient nor is it always an option for everyone. Plus this also lets ANYONE use this feature, not just us LG G2 and G3 usuers.
Dude pretty smart trick.. Been looking for a way to do this with nova.. Thanks
Can't watch the embed for some reason (chrome on g3), but very pleased to see this. I set double tap of home to kill the screen as another option, but still want a tap anywhere setup.
I'd do a short writeup in you original post so you don't have to watch the video as well and give a link to the play store app if one is being used.
Thanks.
For those who use greenify, from within the app select the menu button and create shortcut to greenify and sleep. Single tap but must be on icon where you chose place on desktop. Greenifying is the bonus.
Videos are helpful, but sometimes I just want a how-to guide. Let me save you guys 4 minutes:
1.) Install Screen Off and Lock: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.katecca.screenofflock
2.) Launch Screen Off and grant the app Device Administrator access.
3.) Nova Settings / Gestures and Buttons / Double Tap / Apps / Screen Off

Gonna cheat and add this to the main post via copy and paste. Great for people who want to save time or are at work and can't listen. Thanks!
Or even better if you find the apk for the google launcher the phone will have the the stock feel and still have the normal knock on feautre. Link is below how to set it up. I use it on all my devices and have no problems what-so-ever.

Hi guys,
i need to disable double tap to wake up my H850.
How can i do this?
Thanks
There may be an easier way, but I carried over the same technique that I used on my G4...
Get QuickShortcutMaker from the Play Store. In the app, do a search on "knock."
This will yield a result for "settings." Tap that, and it will expand to reveal two "KnockOn" settings.
Tap either one of those, and it will open an "Edit Shortcut" screen. Tap the "Try" option, and this will open the KnockOn settings. In there, you can turn off the feature.
Doesn't matter which of the settings you choose, both will ultimately take you to a screen where you can turn it off.
Best of all, you don't need root (thank goodness).
I really dont like the bug about the accessibility so I decided to contact the Nova Devs team hoping to get an answer or maybe they can make a patch on their app but I decided to look at this matter on my own.
In my issue when I press the home button successively it would ask me to re-enable the accessibility with that in mind, I noticed that Long Press for Home Button activates the assist and voice app so I thought maybe that is whats interfering with the Nova Launcher and heres how I did it.
1. Go to settings
2. Then Apps & Notifications
3. Default Apps
4. Select "Assist & voice input"
5. Select "Assist App"
6. and press the on the google icon
7. Select "none"
8. Go back to Home Screen and test it out
Ive been pressing the home button for like 100 times now and it never asked for accessibility.
I tried using the Shark Space, play for a few minutes and turn off Shark Space it still ask to choose the home launcher but I didnt asked for accessibility. I'm 95% sure I fixed it, need someone else to confirm
Well, screen lock gesture works better when Nova is set as device admin unless you use fingerprint. Thanks for sharing though. Will have my feedback later.
