It works automatically only if:
1. there is Carrier Services installed on the phone
2. the SIM card carrier in the phone allows this service.

Ok, I didn't know this.
I was used to enable it manually on all my phones.
I never had to install Carrier Services, the option was always already existing.

[Q] Modaco NoData

I have a problem. When I am abroad I get error messages all the time because my phone is looking for a GPRS signal. I searched the forum and found a possible solution in the NoData application from Modaco. I installed it but only got an error message when trying to open it. Following the suggestions in some forum, I have now also installed the SDA Application Unlocker and the Modaco GPS and Hack unlocker. To no avail, it seems, for I still get the same error message when trying to open NoData.
Can someone help me?
I also have a second, unrelated, problem - it seems that the voice recorder only records onto the inbuilt memory and not onto the storage card. I find no solution for this.
do you have net framework installed? try 3.5 compact framework for mobile devices.
You can always go into connections under Settings and erase all your APNs, that way the phone has nothing to try to dial out to, and will stop giving you an error.

Thank you! What is an APN though?
I don't know if I have net framework installed, will try to find and install it?
Thanks!
An APN is an access point name, the number your phone dials into in order to recieve data services from your provider. And yeah, search the forums for .net 3.5 and install it.

If you have a stock ROM, you probably need to install .Net Framework. If you have a custom ROM, you can check with the ROM chef to see if they added it. Often, this is noted in the first few posts of the thread.
I believe the in-call recording goes to device memory on purpose. Writing to SD while in call is problematic. Copy resulting file to SD card afterwards.

[Q] [?] SK17i stock rom - not all operators works

I have one problem - with stock firware - not all operators work. But i i install custom firware - it works, so the problem is software related, so maybe someone knows what files i should copy from working ROM to stock rom to be able use that operator?
what you mean by operator ?

There used to be a bug on the xperia mini (pro) where it failed to save the manually entered APN data unless you removed pin protection from the phone.
Maybe it's still there.
So what you can do:
- remove PIN protection from your phone/sim card (for a while)
- manually edit the APN for your carrier and save
- test whether it works (should be ok)
- re-apply PIN protection for you sim card
I think that's the easy way

Disable Data Access Over Mobile Network By Default

It would probably be a lot easier to use an app like tasker to crate a profile that on device startup disables mobile data. Then before you switch ROMs backup your tasker profiles and the taker app. Then when you switch ROMs just immediately reinstall tasker and restore the profile to disable mobile data and you should be all set.

I think it is longer than manually swith "Data enabled" option off, am I right?
May be my English so bad...
May be I need to start this topic in another Threed ? Advice to me.
Look, I download some Custom ROM (Cyanogen based for example, it does not matter). I wish to Flash it. After "wipe data" all my settings deleted. I flash the ROM. I know that by default data access over mobile network is ON. I should to take out my SIM card before first load of ROM. After first loading finished
I manually swith "Data enabled" option OFF. I turn OFF smartphone. I connect my SIM card. I turn ON smartphone.
So many stupid steps just to try and test new Custom ROM....
I wish some patch (like GAPPS) to flash it immediately after the flashed ROM for switching OFF "Data enabled" option
Help me please :crying:
You could try changing the build.prop settings or something similar in radio configuration options and create a flashable zip (Look at this guide forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1611615) that modifies these properties using edify scripting that you could then turn into a flashable zip.

Flash ROM without sim card, boot then disable 'data'. Once done, insert sim again.

[Q] Rooting problem, no network service / bad radio?

Hi,
I own the Leagoo Lead 1 (MTK6582 phone) and followed these instructions to root my phone
http://www.needrom.com/download/leagoo-lead-1/
Everything else works, but I have no network service. I tried everything, checking hidden settings (for radio setings), checking correct APN:´s, re-rooting etc.
I can either get the network to work via using "GSM only" (so no data connection and even SMS wont work)
or then using "WCDMA only", only data conneciton, no voice call possibility or SMS/MMS
This is really strange that both voice & data wont work at the same time!
Can someone please instruct me what I could do:
1. try to flash some other radio? I read there are some risks involved with this --> but what kind of radios could I try (I.e.could some HTC or Samsung specific radio work)
- if so, what should I name the .zip file for it to work in recovery (I tried putting one radio file to my external SD and flash it in recovery but it wont do anything)
2. Can I try to flash some random Android ROM to my phone and see if it works? I know this is a big risk but I searched the forum and found some "custom ROM"´s that might work on many devices.
3. Is there some way to edit the radio settings except the very basic options in hidden commands --> radio settings. (i.e. can it be related to me being in Finland vs. some other region?)
Thanks for your help.
Cheers.
Can any of you experts help me on this ?
thank you

[Q] Rooted lg g3, No APNs, no ability to add APNs

Hi, so before I go out and purchase a new SIM I was hoping someone could help me. Originally I was trying to alter the MMS port set in my APN because MMS was failing over wifi due to running Adblock. In doing so I somehow managed to erase my Internet APN. I believe it was just set to vzwinternet.
So on my lg g3 I unfortunately have no way to add an APN, it works fine for wifi and calls still but I have no cellular internet at the moment. The only option when going to APN settings is Reset to Defaults, which does nothing as it just shows "No APNs". The mobile networks option is actually greyed out under Settings->Wireless & Networks->More... but I'm able to get to APN Settings still by using an app.
Possible solutions I've thought of, does anyone knows if these are possible?
A) Is there any way to edit my build.prop to allow me to add an APN such as "ril.sales_code=LOL & ro.csc.sales_code=LOL" (I've tried this it doesn't work).
B) Is it possible to re-add it by replacing apns-conf.xml in /system/etc/ ? If that is possible could someone post theirs so I can replace it?
C) Are there any root apps to allow me to add an APN? (from my research there aren't any since android 4.0)
Or am I just going to have to go out and get a new SIM? I've already master reset hoping it was software related and that hasn't helped.
EDIT: Nevermind guys fixed it by doing a reflash back to factory with lg flashtool. Nothing to see here *whistles*
Hi Jab
I met the same issue.
Could you please tell me how to reflash back to factory?
Thank you
You need to root it, and use shortcut master to open APN setting, same case with my US Cellular G3
