No expandable storage; the high capacity internal memory variants will be in short supply and thus very expensive, predictably. And of course a huge price tag until Samsung realizes it's not selling well, again. This will make it 4 years running that Samsung has failed to deliver an exceptional, well balanced flagship.

Battery should be much better since the 8 Gen 2 is a TSMC chip.
There's very little that can be done about battery when 5G is enabled but even with it, the X70 is said to be up to 40% more efficient than the X65 was.

Time will tell. I doubt it will improve the SOT much. There's also the burden of the variable refresh rate display. Not sure how much more scoped storage impacts battery life but it requires more cpu cycles.
Starting with the N20U the batteries have gotten bigger, as has the thickness and weight of all the Samsung flagships. At the same time even with the larger capacity batteries the SOT decreased.
Poor form factor and performance balance have now become Samsung's flagship hallmark.
Their last great flagship remains the N10+. No 5G or variable refresh rate display but more functional with a display color/gamma accuracy/calibration that likely exceeds all those that followed. If Samsung adopted a fixed 90hz display refresh rate much better color/gamma accuracy could be achieved. They won't do this because Samsung is now marketing hype rather than performance driven. Case in point how many megapixels will the new cam sensor have?
For that tiny sized sensor 20mp is pushing it. Little doubt the mp count will continue to climb at the cost of pixel light gathering ability and sampling accuracy. The newer generations of Samsung cams seem to be very power hungry as well.

The laser AF is a great benefit. That should have been implemented 5 or more years ago. Sony was using this technology back in 2004 on its cams. Not to worry if you don't have it as a 3mw 535nm laser pointer can be used for spot on AF lock ups on older phones
Battery like on my SD Ultra S22 is why I am upgrading. It was terrible from the start nothing has really changed.

If you want good SOT go with a N10+*, they get 12+ hours SOT with a new battery. Browsing with Brave I was using 6%@hr when this battery was newer. A better balanced and more usable device... even today**.
The S23U is already shaping up to be more of the same Samsung bs... 3+ years of fail and ball drops.
*stock Snaps that are optimized. All Samsung's should be optimized for best performance and SOT.
** I'm running Pie and Q so no CPU cycle sucking scoped storage. You'll be stuck with Android 12, 13 or 14 on the S23U. 13 is a mess. Google is more Apple now (as is Samsung) than it is Android... more dropped balls rolling around inside the machine.

I actually disagree with this. 13 has been great. I didn't like 8/Oreo because of how many apps they broke and 10 was slower than 11. 12 had some regressions and random quirks but 13 has been great. I don't actually have any specific OS-related complaints, just phone complaints about the Pixel 7 Pro, but if I'm being honest, I'm really just being petty, because the 7 Pro is great device that would serve most people well.
The reason I'm looking at the S23 series is specifically because of band support. I have Boost Infinite which uses AT&T towers so I want access to the 3.45GHz DoD spectrum and the Pixel 7 Pro's modem doesn't support it. Additionally Boost Infinite will be switching to using Dish Network's 5G network as it's primary and the Pixel doesn't support n70 and multiple other bands Dish is using.
Also, I just haven't had Samsung since the Note 5 and my partner has a Samsung A51 and I have played with it and actually kind of like it, so it just feels like it is time.
The Note 10+ is missing way too much for me to consider it. I'm not giving up 5G. The modem in that device has extremely limited and largely incomplete 5G support.

Agreed, I wouldn't get the 5G N10+ variant. With an unlimited grandfathered 4G data plan it's a no brainer. Since 5G started rolling out 4G has even better bandwidth. Because many websites limit data speeds even the 4G download speed isn't fully utilized most times. The power drain of 5G remains an issue on the newer models as does the SOC, display and camera. They reached the thermal limits of the available surface area. The N10+ can operate at a 99F ambient temperature doing internet browsing with no cooling for an extended time because it's using less power and producing less waste heat.
Storage is inadequate and expensive on all models after the N20U.
30 gms heavier, worse display/ratio and a much worse SOT than the N10+. Not a well balanced flagship at all. S23U is more of the same... bs.
The claims that Android 11, 12 or 13 are more efficient than 9 I have severe doubts about. Even if Google implements a more efficient file system the overhead of scoped storage* remains. I like to see a side by side comparison on a N10+ running on 9 vs 10, 11 and 12. No one does that.
*In Android 10 scoped storage isn't fully active. It doesn't seem faster than Pie and SOT may be slightly worse. Still playing with my other N10+ that was factory loaded with Q. I prefer Pie as it's more functional and easier to troubleshoot.

That's not what I am looking for. I want the latest and greatest to have good battery life. Not great but just good. I had the note 20 ultra and that thing had better battery than the s22 ultra. I am just hoping Samsung has figured it out with the s23.

Don't be the first to buy it. Samsung's recent track record speaks for itself. Besides they'll be more desperate after 6 months to sell the excess units. Predictably there will be a shortage of 1 and .5tb variants though.

You doubt but i don't since i now use gen 2 and before i used 2 gen 1 phones, the difference in battery is huge, incomparable

Micro lenses that small have less light gathering ability and waste real estate. The borders of those lens are wasted space, lots of wasted space on a sensor that has very little to spare. The quality of the micro lens are also suspect.
Pixel micro lense quality and individual pixel sampling capabilities are more important than pixel count. 12mp is a reasonable number and 20+mp is pure hype for a sensor this size.
A Canon pro shooter with a full frame sensor is only about 22-26mp. They will chew up any smartphone. Full frame digital movie cams boast a huge pixel count in the 20-40mp range.

Single frame and especially low light. The large metal frame provides superior heat sinking and the sensor is also thermally isolated from the processors for a lower noise floor in low light.
A heavier frame with good hand holds means it's much easier to shoot with. Much faster bootups and almost no shutter lag.
On top of that huge lens are available. Some with 200mm front optics for optimum light gathering.
Smartphones do very well with what they got. I view the cam as a convenience not a dedicated shooting platform. Anymore it's all I shoot with. They have limitations and are harder to shoot with than dedicated systems. With no expandable storage they lack onboard backup, a huge disadvantage. Canon has had dual card/write capabilities for around 20 years on their pro models.
The shooter's skill is more important than the camera, one reason they're killing the camera market. On that same line of thinking the improvements on the newest smartphone cams won't make you a great shooter if you aren't.

Most tests i saw by now DSLR vs phone (custom software on the phone - GCAM) results in either close battle, or win for the smartphone on lowish, and especially in low light.
There are numerous versus, if you are interested i can find samples. Single frame dslr cannot compete with 1'' sensor with 30 frames stacked and super advanced denoise algorithims/ISP, it will either burn the highlights, or be just dark.
Where dslr wins, is action shots, long range zooms, astro, portrait and video, not for static shooting.
Here is an example what a phone does in quite dark conditions, with advanced setup,

Its not real 1'' but its very big, its bigger then Sony RX100 for example, its 132mm2, and sensor size doesnt matter as much when you got 30 frames stacked, that remove like 80% of the noise, and bring much more "light" into the sensor. No need to believe, ive seen the results,
And low light action shots? Books and parked cars don't move... people do.

Overall it's not a bad phone considering the price and the power Snapdragon 820 you get. A premium build and one of the better 1080p screens I've seen. But it's ultimately let down with a disappointing camera. Doesn't live up to 4 Axis & Xiaomi marketing hype machine. 4k video is full of artifacts and the focus is all over the place at times.
Still gaming it will play everything at 60 fps, super smooth and the battery can give over 7 hours of OST. I do like the size build and feel of it.
Pros:
Very good at benchmarks
Super smooth gaming
Doesn't seem to throttle or get too hot.
Preium build quality
Excellent audio output, both 3.5mm and loudspeaker.

I've been hugely disappointed with the Mi5. I got it the day after release and it just hasn't felt right. I came from a Mi Note, which has probably been the best phone I've ever had. Perfect size in my opinion and everything works perfect.
The Mi5 has a strange size and the even more curved/rounded back just doesn't feel good in the hand. It's far too curved. It should have been more like the Mi Note. I don't feel comfortable holding it without a grippier case.
Despite the Mi Note having a Snapdragon 801, the SD 820, in my opinion doesn't offer a huge difference in speed and normal everyday tasks like browsing, reading news, listening to music and watching videos and the odd game.
The finger print sensor is ok, but I think the round sensor on the Redmi Note 3 is superior. It looks ugly on the Mi5 I think.
The camera is speedy, yes. But so was the Mi Note camera. The quality is not noticeable in my eyes. And the 4 axis OIS is just a big gimmick.
Haven't been this disappointed with a phone since I last used an iPhone haha.
Im always using a silicone case with my phones.. GPS is fast i cant complain here.
The camera is very good in Daylight, bad at dark places.. i tried to adjust with manual settings but so far not really successful.
Samsung and LG has longer experiences in building Cameras or Mobile Phones, so don`t expect too much in Dark places.
But one thing i like, is the price-value in Xiaomi devices which is good.

The camera on the Mi 5 won't be as good as the S6! (Not saying it is bad on the Mi 5. Just prepare yourself)
Why this: Samsung puts pretty nice cameras in phones and has good software behind it. It's hard to challenge Samsungs position in this matter. (For most brands.)

Yeah I just thought so. But I fortunately don't feel myself beeing a hobby photographer, so it's an issue I can deal with.
Either way Xiaomi will surely release some updates to the Mi5 camera as the OIS has some pretty big bugs.
And because the Mi5 is much cheaper, I can tinker with it. I will most likely try to fit a QI receiver inside on the 1st day (and post the results).

I have just received my mi5 having come from an s6. I havent done a comparison of the camera just yet but initial shots look very good on the mi5. Again I am no photographer so just casual snaps, which are fine on the mi5.

Apparently gsmarena, unlike every other reviewer, has found a very mature camera performance.
I will try and do that in the next day or two. I have to say I am extremely impressed with the mi5. I was a little worried about signal strength in my house as on the s6 is very very poor and I have to use Wi-Fi calling. With the mi5 I can't use Wi-Fi calling but I don't need to. The signal is about twice that of the s6 but the clarity is so much better is unbelievable (even better than s6 on Wi-Fi calling)

seems good quality video!
I've had no issues at all with 4K video, smooth and jitter free...
And my girlfriend who has been using an S6 for over a year immediately found the Mi 5 camera far superior.

I don't see 1080p as a negative. The DPI is 400+, is probably higher than the human eye can see anyway, and higher PPI is sacrificed for better battery life. I find it a bit PPI and mpixel chased a bit strange, especially when our computer monitor 24"+ is typically 1080p. I prefer thing such as quick charge 3.0 and usb c type as the most important things. I'm still not sure why people seem so obsessed with low light camera performance. When I look at my album, less than 5% of the pictures are of low light scenes. I'm not going to let such a menial metric determine whether or not I buy this.

Doesn't matter what % you take in low light. low light pictures are the best how you know your camera is good.

If it takes good pictures in low light, then it will probably take great pictures in brighter conditions. Some of us take more pictures at night time, at concerts, or simply want the option to take better quality pictures.
Apropos camera quality, I've almost never liked my iPhone 6's low-light shots, but have absolutely no complaint about the other 98% of the times I take a picture during daylight. So in case you wanna measure it "as of worst case", sure, but I don't think there's a clear way to translate that performance directly to "quality". Specially for a tiny smartphone sensor without interchangable lens etc.
When it comes to the Axon 7's camera, exposure (pictures come out darker from what I've seen) and that grain I see in some pictures are the only "worries" I think I might have when I switch (currently waiting for UNKNOWN EU shipping dates). And both of those problems might as well be fixed via software.
MKBHD [1] said it a couple of times, nowadays we tend to measure smartphones by what's wrong with them, instead of what's right about them. So I understand, why people complain about a not so good low light camera performance.
But I'm with @Adiyel. It's the same for me, I almost never take photos in low light, so I don't care about low light camera performance.

We are judging phones from their flaws since if you see phones with relative similar price, you will start to compare the pros and cons. Since phones these days are already good, looking for their cons are the better comparison rather then going over their pros. In the end, you simply want a the best phone for your money.

Well then from both of you and Cypher's points of views, other phones don't have dual-facing speakers with DOLBY ATMOS AND High-End DAC, so all of them are out of the question. See? Not the best way to compare things...
I don't know about reviews and how it is done, but atleast in real life use I think camera is decent and this is coming from someone who have used Lumia 1520, iPhone 6 & LG G4 in past. My fiancé got same phone and we were texting back and forth on whatsapp yesterday and few selfie she sent in pitch black dark room with just the screen light looked pretty decent to me on my LG G4. If you go pixel peeping even you can find flaws with pics of D800 and 5D mk iii. I think when I get mine from B&H I'd not be upset with the camera atleast based upon what I saw yesterday.
Low light is an issue imo because night-life is a popular time to take pictures for a large amount of phone users. The majority of this forum might be married with kids and/or cave-dwellers but let's not rationalize away things that could use improvement.

Yeah sure you can complain all you want. Was just throwing in my two cents, and I'm really sad that you won't be able to take great pictures in the dark, where you should be drinking and getting on with the girls instead Coming from a "cave-dweller".
P.S. People should check their upgraditis once in a while. 400 bucks get you this far, and I think you won't find so much more features, if any, in many other phones with the same price.

Night-life is about doing things at night, not just being in a bar/club.
Personally, I think the Axon 7 suits my needs greater than the OP3 (a similarly priced phone) in most ways. Photo quality is an area that the phone is being outperformed however.

No I'm not trying to rationalize low light performance. All I'm saying is what I've seen so far is good enough for my use, yes there is always room for improvement. But I don't see any other device in this price range with all this feature set giving any better low light pictures then what Axon 7 does at this period of time, There might be devices in future that will beat Axon 7 for price feature category. But at present I feel this is best value for your money. And with more RAM + more powerful processor - point I don't get is if you are not a gamer, does it really matter ?

I agree with this. Have you seen Linus Tech's review of the Axon? For night scenes, most people are rocking iPhones, Galaxies, LGs, and oddly enough, ZTE phones (4th largest in the USA). Only recent phones really have passable lowlight, and it's easy enough to spend a couple minutes in snapseed and make a night photo really usable.
I also think a problem our generation has is that we judge this phone's lowlight based on other phones, but its performance wouldn't change if these phones didn't exist (the 2016 galaxies).
Like the other guy said earlier, the performance is passable. And lowlight isn't an indication of how good a cam is...it's more indicative of how versatile and stable the performance is across different scenarios. Look at the TechRadar review, and look at the walkway scene. The Axon pulls in far more detail than the S7. Period. Lots of small pixels has a tradeoff for great daytime detail and performance. Large pixels and lower resolution has compromises, too.
Overall, the Axon does so many things right for so little money. How many phones can say that? How many offer what the Axon 7 does at or below is cost? The list is VERY small, trust me.
I would prefer an artificial light / indoor light review as I class that as low light. So many recent phones I have had are awful inside the house and loads of my photos are I doors with my children just having fun and of you want a camera test that would be a great one. Best phone so far including s7 and s7 Edge for taking photos of a baby bouncing in a bouncer is any of the Sony xperia Z range using timeshift burst. One click and an instant 40 photos (I think) 20 before shutter and 20 after now that's amazing at freezing moving images just a shame resolution was a little low and phones heat up) all the same it's a clever bit of software ahead of its time.

After the successful launch event in London in May, Honor has launched its 2nd flagship device of year 2019 as part of Honor 20 Series, mainly the Honor 20 Pro and Honor 20 along with an affordable Honor 20 lite or Honor 20i on June 11 in India at a launch event in Delhi.

Now let’s start the Honor 20 review. This is my detailed personal review about the Honor 20 unit which I received from Honor as a review unit.
Design- Many may feel that Honor 20 design is nothing new, in fact we are seeing this since Honor 8 era but Honor has not stopped its innovation and HONOR 20 takes that trend to the next level with a mirror glass back that creates subtle patterns and highlights that shine and move alongside different lights and is famous for Dynamic Holographic design which really looks incredible and eye catching. With nearly side bezel-less design, very minimal lower bezel and the punch hole camera set up, Honor was able to give us 91.7% screen to body ratio which gives nearly full screen view and best possible viewing experience. Phone really looks premium and can beat up any flagship design even in half price.
Another impressive design of Honor 20 includes a Side-Mounted Fingerprint Sensor. Initially, I was not fan for front mounted FP sensor as I was used to rear FP sensor mainly for unlocking and clicking photos but then gradually started liking the front FP sensor as it is easy to unlock without even lifting the device, found other of clicking pictures. With Honor 20 side-mounted FP scanner, I am getting used to it but gradually started liking it as response is very fast and accurate. I can unlock my phone even before I start counting to get that milli-second feel.
Display- Honor 20 is packed with fairly large but in trend screen size of 6.26 inch and offers a full view display, thanks to the Punch hole camera design which enables the nearly full screen display. A FHD+ IPS LCD screen with 2340X1080 resolutions gives a brighter and better display with equally good viewing experience. Display supports the 16.7 M colors and equipped with 412 PPI. Overall, the looks way better than my preview phones majorly due to full view display and accurate positioning of front camera which doesn’t hampers the display or any viewing experience while gaming, watching videos or live streaming etc. Display is bright enough to have a better readability under sunlight at full brightness. If you have automatic brightness enabled or have kept it on half way, you may feel some discomfort only under the direct sunlight and not under the bright condition, but this is same with every IPS panel.
Performance- Well, there is no second thought about the performance that you can get from this device. With Latest flagship Kirin 980 Processor. There is no deny that performance will be optimal for end user but sometimes few things are good on paper but not in real life, but Honor 20 is truly optimized with Magic 2.1 (for some they may refer as EMUI 9.1) and doesn’t lag at all. I have played Asphalt 8 and Fortnite and did not feel any lag or frame drop and games were launching quickly and were able to perform as per the expectation. Yet to test the same with PUBG but don’t think that will have any issue as well as Fortnite game size is huge compared to PUBG. I was able to get constant 30 FPS for Fortnite and waiting for update to support the 60 FPS and similar constant 30 FPS in Asphalt 8 with highest visual quality. So, from gaming perspective, I do not see any challenge and games runs smooth on this device without a problem. From Application launch point of view, apps launches very fast and user do not notice much delay or lag if they have selected the right settings in developer mode and disabled the screen animations. I personally did not face much delay while launching or switching across applications. Also, I noticed one improved in Magic UI 2.1 and Honor 20 that apps remain in memory for longer time but yes, the social media apps refresh immediately they are switched to, from any other app after some time. This was the behavior in default mode and I did not even enable the performance mode. No changes were made to the battery setting for app launch and they all were by default (system selected) except WhatsApp, Tapatalk , XDA and Telegram. So, if you are looking for a device which will give you the optimal performance without hurting your pocket, look no further and can go for Honor 20.
7nm Kirin 980 AI Chipset with Dual-NPU couple with 6 GB of RAM is doing the wonders here and device is one of the best I have used in terms of performance and fluidity.
Battery - Honor 20 comes with 3750 mAh battery with which, I was able to get around easilve over 30 hours of regular usage with multiple social media apps, dual Facebook, messenger, WeChat and WhatsApp and exchange applications which always runs in background and among the top battery consumer for all along with some time on gaming, YouTube, Gmail, Chrome, Skype For Business, Hotstar live streaming etc. still I was able to pass my entire with phone without suffering for battery issue by end of my day and only connect charger the next day (my regular routine as I connect to charge my phone only around at 07.00 AM in the morning and then leave for office). If I don’t play games or live streams, I was able to get around 30+ hours of usage with still around 18-25% left.
On an average I was able to get around 8-9 hours of SOT with my usage pattern.
Honor claims for 50% charging in 30 minutes and in my test this just works fine as I was able to charge 49% in 30 minutes and in random usages, I was still able to charge around 40-43% with Mobile data/Wi-Fi on.
Audio- I personally found that Honor 20’s volume is loud enough to be able to hear at full volume and audio is crispy clear. I used the phone with Honor’s Bluetooth headset and could enjoy the music and movies very well without any problem. There is inbuilt Histen sound effect feature as well which works only with a physically connected headset. Though, since Apples started the norm of removing the audio jack and many others are following the trend, Honor 20 lacks a headphone jack but it comes with a type-C to 3.5 mm jack dongle which you can listed to feel the same traditional way of music on headset and can vary the settings via Histen effect to be able to listen the music in your favorite mode.
Also, Honor 20 come up with 9.1 Virtual Surround feature which you can feel while gaming like Fortnite or others or watching a movie and using the Histen sound effect.
Camera- Honor 20 is equipped 4 camera setup which seems to be a norm in 2019 now and comes with 48 MP Sony IMX586 with F/1.8 aperture, 16 MP Super wide-angle camera with F/2,2 aperture, 2 MP Depth camera and 2 MP Macro camera.
48 MP main camera- it is Sony IMX586 lens and supports AI Ultra clarity mode and AIS. It also supports the AIS super night mode which is cool and in my personal experience which clicking few shots with night mode, I was amazed by the level of details I could see in the pictures.
16 MP Wide angle camera- with F/2.2 aperture and 117-degree super wide angle it really does wonders sometime to capture a larger area in smaller frame. I used 1X, 2X zoom and wide angle and really started liking it for few images where it was necessary to click a relatively bigger area. It also supports the Distortion correction.
2MP Depth assist camera – comes up with F/2l,4 aperture and supports h=in providing the bokeh effect.
2 MP Macro camera- with F/2,4 aperture, it supports a macro photography and gives the optimal results at 4cm distance from object. Results may vary person to person and object to object and light conditions. I got different results with different objects and light condition.
32 MP Selfie camera- I am not a selfie lover so did not explore much but I am sure it does well as I have seen the better results with relatively inferior camera from Honor. I clicked few selfies and was surprised to see the results and details in the image, you can turn off the beauty mode to get more details of object. Come up with F/2.0 aperture it does support the AIS and I really liked few images I clicked even with bit moving objects still the results were good. It supports AIS Super night mode, AI Color mode, AIS and AI mode.
Videos- Rear camera supports up to 4K resolution with EIS and front camera supports up to 1080P recording with EIS. You also get slow motion video with up to 960 FPS.
This review is incomplete if I do not touch the camera part or include camera review here. I am using this device for a week now and only got a couple of days to go out to explore the camera. Probably, I will be posting more images next week when I will be out of town to explore another city and click some memories. Yes, I am breaking up with my old phone and carrying this beauty on my next travel to Europe. As Honor 20 series tagline says #YouDeserveBetter yes, This is the one you deserve and you will not regret. BTW, I am not good at photography, still tried some hands on it this time and I was really happy with the image quality and really loving the camera. I tried all the modes available and Night, Super Macro and Super Slow motion with 32X (960 FPS). I was able to capture few night shots, which I personally feel was better than my expectation (did not used any tripod and taken random images) and I am hoping I will be able to share few more quality clicks next week with all the modes. This was my first phone supporting the wide-angle mode and I really liked it and taken few shots. Not a selfie lover so did not bother my front camera much to click myself.

Software/UI- EMUI is not new to me, have been using it for years now. Honor 20 comes with Magic UI but there is not much difference in terms of UI and looks. This is my first phone with Magic UI but I have hands on Magic phone, so this was not much change for me. UI looks similar and a familiar one but is optimized on top of Android 9 and hardware and works like a charm. No unexpected slowness or lags noticed and scroll, navigation, options are easily accessible and provides all the required features.
Conclusion- Due to the ongoing situation of Huawei/Honor with US ban, things were shaken up initially but every day we are hearing one or the other positive news. Many of them could be rumors but still there are some trusted sources which give some positive information and who know this ban might end up soon and we see Huawei/Honor back in business again. Even though with such uncertainty, if we see the astonishing sell of Honor 20 series since its launch, it shows the trust of user on the brand and Honor/Huawei has not let down the customers and are providing the updates, coming up with trending features. Overall, in my opinion and usage of Honor 20 till date, even though going through a tough time but yet managed to do well across markets, Phone is incredible with mesmerizing eye catching design, ticking all the boxes to be your preferred phone for camera, performance, design and long lasting battery which supports supercharging and gives you entire day of battery juice with just few minutes or charging. 4 cameras set up is really doing well and gives you incredible image quality with details and color saturation. No compromise on the performance or design either and side mounted fingerprint scanner is a welcome move giving you a new yet a comfortable experience.

So I'm not here to praise or affiliate myself with a particular brand, what I mean is that some very much love Samsung and don't like any criticism, or others may disagree and that's fine (my words are just from my perspective). Everyone has there own likes, things they find useful, basically we are all different and that is just fine. Opinions from others that may follow are to be respected as we all won't share the same experience or views.
The Galaxy Note 10 got released in two variants oh wait no make that three, and yes I think this is a good idea (although price points i am not agreeable on).
However as the title suggests this little review is based on the model I have SM-N976b that's the Exynos 9825 5G variant.
Display: What we have is a 6.8" Dynamic Amoled Display and there is very little disputing it's best in class. From the vibrant colours to the deep blacks it really is a stunning screen. The punch-hole is symmetrical and really doesn't get in the way or my enjoyment (however some might not like, and find it distracting). I tend to appreciate larger displays (having recently purchased the Mate 20 X 5G 7.2") I was particularly pleased that Samsung decided to make the Display larger on the + variant. With it being a note , that is aimed at productivity and media 6.8" was/is a delight for me personally.
Performance: The performance of the 9825 is marginal if anything above the 9820 (used on the S10, S10+). However I get tired of the complaints, yes perhaps the 855 is marginally better in certain areas, it's not a huge gulf between the two that is going to dramatically affect the user experience. I have found it to be very fast and fluid and hasn't hindered my experience. Basically it performs as a flagship processor should. Very little complaints from me.
Functionality: We have the good old S-Pen and without a doubt it's still industry leading (Perhaps because not many oem's have decided to compete) however as a productivity tool it's fantastic (wether you use it not). I am not sold on the Harry potter waving the pen around, it's just a feature that I think Samsung could have left out & focused that time and resources in another area. However I get that they wanted to add something else to the pen, but I don't think many will be using it.
You have here with the Note 10+ a device that offers up great features as in improving DeX to be used as a virtual environment on a laptop (Some may benefit from this) link to Windows to provide that ecosystem and connection with your PC/Laptop. We also have Gamelink (Conning Soon) along with all the other things like app edge, dual window. So it really does offer up that fantastic functionality.
Battery: Well I have the Mate 20 X and with the 7.2" Display (all be it 1080p) it without a doubt lasts longer than the Note 10+, wouldn't say by a huge margin, I usually and can easily get 7hrs on the note, but with the X it can be 8+, but EMUI is more restrictive in app management. I think the Note could be better optimised and I'm sure with updates it will.
Camera: The cameras on the Note all be it just little improvements over the S-Line, they perform well in most areas, fall short in others. Yes you can say the P30 Pro or pixel are better, some areas yes they most certainly are, but even they fall short in let's say the video department, so as a balanced camera then yeah it's great and that is what I look for, if you want the best if everything Also buy the P30 Pro & Pixel and carry around 3 devices
Design: I think this is where Samsung spent a chunk of time, with the Display & rearrangement, all be it most certainly Q's from Huawei but that's not a negative thing and I absolutely love what Samsung have done here. It's a stunning device.
My Honest opinion: I was complaining slightly that Samsung perhaps could of should of done more and I still stand with that in certain areas. These are in the camera software, perhaps that 90hz (yes I don't think this was possible, due to the S-Pen), but would have been a nice option, but when you look at it, its an iterative improvement, but the areas of focus have been done well, and here we have a stunning productivity device that will make many users happy, but leave some disappointed as expectation, left us without some of the little things we are seeing from others not here on the note.
After using it now for 5 days I fully appreciate a nice and solid device that covers most areas well, but like any device falls short in others. I'm very happy with my purchase and I hope you all are to

Pretty much fantastic in every aspect, minus four:
- terrible battery life (the worst I've ever had to my opinion, compared to Mate 9, Note 4 and Xperia Z1...)
- no high refresh rate display (and still annoying OLED motion blur)
- slow/unsecure unlocking (UDFS/front camera)
- Samsung's "OneUI" software is good overall, but has still strong geographic differences (in term of app availability, see goodlock software for exemple), and doesn't allow you to tweak your terminal to the extent to it should be possible (Galaxy Theme store (yerk!) should basically be Substratum (lite) + Synergy))

It is really amusing to see how some complain about mainly, battery, speakers, camera and signal, to the grade of "terrible", "worst" etc, I have no complain at all, I come from a note 8, which indeed was an excellent device, and this note10+ is way better, in all aaspects, I did not have the 9, but I have heard always that it was just a little increment over the 8, any way, I am really, really pleased with my note10+, the best device I have had

As far as i'm concerned yes...
- battery life
- microSD
- TOF, even though still beta-like software for 3D scan, but works very well for blurring background photos (you can see it when comparing front cam and rear cam)
- larger screen, cause i love this (better for watching videos or multitasking)
I would always feel like i have a sub phone if i went note10 route but that's juste me
Downside is the weight of note10+, i find it kinda heavy in the hand.

I absolutely love my Note 10+. I wish I had pre-ordered, but I wasn't ready for an upgrade from my Note 8 yet.
I got the Aurora Glow (Snapdragon, Verizon US), mainly because it was the one that was readily available and I wouldn't have to wait. I thought I'd just slap a case on it and never have to look at it, but it turns out I love that crazy rainbow bastard and got a nice clear case. I'm averaging 7hrs of SOT (at highest resolution, no power savings, wifi/data, etc), I haven't had to "top up" during the day once since I got it. Sleep drain is almost non-existent...maybe 4-5% overnight (6-7hrs) with WiFi and bluetooth on. I do a lot of artwork on the fly, and this is even more of a workhorse than my Note 8 was. I do multi-layered (usually 12-20 layers) drawings in Medibang Paint at at least 600dpi and this glorious phone doesn't even stutter. AND (and I know a lot of you don't like it) I was psyched to see a screen protector pre-installed. I know it's a crappy one, but it was great to have while waiting for my "real" one to show up. Really small, but well-appreciated, inclusion. I don't even mind the loss of a headphone jack as much as I thought I would. My portable battery has the wireless charging built in (not that I've needed to use it yet), and I think the sound in the USB C headphones included is better than the ones I got with my Note 8.
My ONLY complaint is the camera. Photos look overly soft, and faces seem flattened out. My Note 8 took much better photos out of the box. At least, in my case, it definitely seems to be a software issue...because using GCam improves the photos dramatically. And it seems that Sammy has already released an update to address photo quality...I just have to wait for Verizon to push out the damn thing. I don't take pro photos or anything, 90% of my picture taking is my kids...but my Note 8 gave me much clearer photos of them running around than I've gotten from my 10+. That being said, I know there's a fix on the way so I'm not going to piss and moan too much about it. I look forward to really using the hell out of the camera once it's updated, especially night mode...I didn't have that on my Note 8.
All in all, nothing but love for this phone.
I perceive the photos to be better than those of my note8, yesterday an update mainly for the fingerprint and camera, became available for my note10+, I am yet to see what improvements it may yield
I was looking at a new Chinese flagship (Realme X2 Pro) but then got to play with Dex on a 10 - bought the Note 10+ dualSIM right there, coming from an S8+. Dex is just fantastic, on my Windows or Mac computers, with an additional 95W wall charger and a 100w USB C hub. Now the phone is fully integrated in my desktop workflow and part of the hub with other devices I own, and I love the ability to cut&paste from/to the phone from my main Windows machine. All other elements one comes to expect from a Samsung flagship are there of course, and video quality is excellent. Writing with the S-Pen on the Nebo App is enough for note taking - I can leave the iPad Pro at home for meetings. And Amazon Germany gave a unexpected $120 rebate, plus tax return from Amazon upon leaving the EU, got a great deal altogether. My S8+ lasted three years and thanks to this community is updated well, will now go to my wife.
3 Stars. The magic is lost. Nothing is special about the series anymore.
Call me jaded as someone who's owned every iteration since the Note 2, but this is not the best from the best that previous Note series enjoyed. Same cameras from S10. Would have liked a better tech that includes a seamless uninterruption of the screen. I can do without a social media whore cam or have a motorized selfie cam for those selfie whores. Also, could have used a speedier screen refresh rate found on the the cheaper One+. Otherwise, speed, battery life, features, all the best android has to offer. Nothing earth shattering and futuristic like the first time we saw the Note Edge or Note 5 or BT pen from note 9. Still has a hole in the screen. Still has a "just a refreshed design until next iteration" look. Screen size increased by a hair. Even diluted the brand by making a smaller Note. I usually go for the best but since I had the blue Note 9, I wanted something different and the Aura Blue is gorgeous but disappointed it only comes in 256gb, another ding against Samsung. Overall, 3 stars because the Note series is known for cutting edge and when you have a camera stolen from an older phone and when you decide to toss in a gimmicky AR camera that everyone used for the first minute and forget about but failed to work on the thing that everyone uses 90% of the time, the screen, like incorporate a 120 refresh rate or do away with the hole or notch, then you aren't living to the high standard that the Note series are known for and that its fanbase expects. You used to be able to say, look what my phone has that you don't. Reverse charging? woopty do. My S10 had that before you. 3 cameras? "Stereo" speakers? Well, my phone has a built in BT stylus. So, my cheaper Note 10 does too! *facepalm* We no longer have something special. Used to be we had it first and then it trickled to other devices. Now, it's the other way around.

Pay attention. You're wrong. We're reviewing the Note 10+. So this isn't the only phone with the s pen. If you pay attention, the diluted note 10 also has one as well as the upcoming note 10 lite. So it still stands, the magic is lost.

Let me preface this by saying I am picky about my phones and this is one of the worst I have seen in years! If you have an old phone I can understand some of the upgrade but here are my thoughts coming well staying with a Note 10+. Never bought and returned a phone this quick. Returning before it is even released on Friday!!
Let's start with the good, well somewhat......
Screen: Once again Samsung delivers a world class screen. Best in brightness, color accuracy, etc etc everything like normal that they always produce in their flagships. Now for the downsize, the infamous 120hz screen refresh rate. Not worth it here. Smoother scrolling, sure but barely. I honestly don't even mind the 1080p and 120 hz just the need for the 120hz on a phone is overkill. Was gaming smoother sure, do I game much on my phone, no not really. The 240 touch response I can tell more of a difference and a worthy difference then the 120 hz refresh
Processing power: Phone is fast, minus animations. Photo processing, night mode shots are a big difference. Much faster in that aspect. Wish we saw little more ram and more storage though at this price
Battery: 5000 mah in this device makes it a little thicker but in my short one day of use it stood up pretty well to transferring apps and everything over and hard use for a few hours last night. Couldn't kill it
and now the bad
Camera: throw all the numbers at it and it will be great.... well not so fast. Main shooter in 12 or 108 mp mode cannot focus on anything. Piece of paper on desk in front of you, good luck. Zoom a few feet away from you, also good luck. 5x/10x/30x zoom is better then Note 10+ of course but how often are you going to use this? Everyday? Once a week? Once a month? Still not great quality (usable) at 10x or 30x really so no point in my book. 5x is crisp but falls off too much after that for me to use. Wide angle is same as note so no real improvement here. Camera also seems to make everything more saturated then I like as well almost to the point of unrealistic. The one and only thing the iPhone can do well and the note seems to be closer to that realistic representation then the Ultra.
Design: not that the design is bad but feels a tad on the chunkier side. Rounder edges do help but does not feel as sleek as nice to hold as note or even s10. Thicker as well to house that battery and camera module. Also worried about how scratched the module bump will become after months of abuse.
UI: Let me first say I hate Android 10/Samsung UI 2.0, I am still using 9 and the Ultra reminded me why. App animations are slow (yes can fix in dev options but still), quick replying to text or message in status bar is not instant like prior android generations. Don't know if this is an android 10 or Samsung UI 2.0 problem but seems like it should be an upgrade not a downgrade
Price: $1400 is a lot even for 2020. That is also only for 128 gb and 12 gb ram model. So no upgrade to ram compared to Note and a loss of half the storage compared to entry level note. Plan was to trade in note 10+ and pay $800 and it isn't worth that tp be honest. Not even close. Only foreseeable upgrades are little brighter screen and zoom lens. The rest is a downgrade to me or the same.
I will continue to use note 10+ until Note 20 maybe? Needs to have something better for the money it is going to cost though

Underwhelming, overpriced phone.
This unnecessary push to 5G (Which is about two years away from being properly available) is causing the prices of phones to skyrocket.
And speaking of performance, Smartphone gaming hasn't dramatically changed over the past two years. There are basically two games the world is playing and they both work just fine on the 845 or the newer 768G.
This makes the 865 in the Poco F2 a completely pointless upgrade and a really expensive component that marks up the price to insanity. Poco took away the Memory Card slot and opted to stay with a 60hz display which is just plain stupid. And I'm speaking of the screen Hz not in the aspects of gaming but in the aspects of basic UI where MOST PEOPLE use their phone. Scrolling and watching videos.
Where they could have truly excelled was in the department of cameras. I'm not talking unnecessarily large figures like 108 or 64 or 48MP. Megapixel numbers on such a tiny sensor are merely a marketing gimmick. Rebranding the K30 Pro and making it even worse by removing the IPXX rating (at least official certification) just shows that Poco has completely forgotten what they represent.
They could have spent a lot in R&D and thrown in a lower Megapixel sensor but with significantly better processing. The aging iPhone 11 still defeats all these new cameras with their ridiculous Megapixel claims.
The only good thing they've done is.
1: IR Blaster
2: Headphone jack.
3: Large battery.
I'm sticking to my current Poco F1.
It's reliable, cheap, sturdy. I still get 9 Hours SOT even after almost two years of battery use. I'll probably change the battery and charging port in the next six months just to keep this baby running happily for at least two more years.
It also has FHD AMOLED screen without cutouts, pop-up front camera, 128 GB internal storage in base model, NFC.
