Question [Q] Smart Notifications - Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

Hello
What's the feature that automatically extracts numbers from text notifications such as from MFA text messages? I had it working fine after setting up the phone while it was still copying my settings from my old phone and since then it stopped working and I don't know how to get it back
Thanks in advance

is under settings> google> Autofill (i think) and then you must enable it

Didn't work. Enabled both Samsung Pass and Google autofill and neither worked

its like tim2london said
under settings>google>auto-fill>sms verification codes.
there should be an option thats called auto-fill service
after i enabled it i didnt get to choose if i wanted to use samsung pass or google autofill

[Q] Lost Notification for voicemail

I rooted my Vibrant and have clockworkmod but after removing so of the embedded apps with titanium backup I no longer get the notification when I have a voicemail....I dont get the icon notification at all it just shows I have a missed callll......is there anyway to fix this?
lolu removed your voicemail app ? reinstall it than
I reinstalled Visual voicemail but still no icon......I can get voicemail but I dont have a notification icon so if I dont check it after every missed call than I never know when I have one
I have it backed up in titanium backup but I cant figure out how to restore it...Does anyone know how to do this? I backed it up, than I deleted it off of the phone....ut I assume if I have backed it up than I can restore it right?
Anybody ever figure this out? Lost mine too and it gets a bit annoying.
In TI backup goto batch, the look for restore app amd data.
Then just check the box for voice mail
Im not sure if you tried this already
Possible workaround; install google voice (many ROMs include it as a default) and set it to be your default voicemail inbox for your phone.
Google voice allows you to:
- Save voicemails forever
- Automatically transcribes voicemails
- Email alert for voicemail (and link to listen to it) along with the normal alert in the status bar
- Listen to/download voicemails on any internet enabled device
- Visual voicemail
- All normal voicemail features
I've been using Google voice for my voicemail since I made the switch to android, and I love it.
I had this same problem after flashing a new ROM and was able to fix it by going to:
Settings/Call Settings/Voicemail/Voicemail service
In my case, nothing was selected, so I just selected the "My carrier" option and the voicemail notification started working as normal.
Hope this works for someone else..

[Q] Open the dialer/keypad and not the last status used (Samsung)

Hi,
When I press the Samsung phone shortcut default application (to make a call or view contacts, call log etc.), it usually open the last position used i.e. if last time I used the call log, so it will open the call log (when I want to use keypad to dial….)
What to do?
I have already found a shortcut application, that point directly to 'call log', but still asking for dialer (keyboard) specific shortcut.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=se.erikofsweden.erikutil
I use Samsung Galaxy Alpha, but I think my question related to any Samsung phone.
PS
The 'call log' mode is default to all "all logs" yet I want it to default to all call logs"

[Q] SMS on hangouts not working

Guys tried sms from hangout but when I go to settings in the hangouts app.
It doesn't show me the SMS option whereas I can see the SMS option in
My mobile motog2 which also has the same lollipop versionas of my n9
Now what?
I'm using hangout version 2.5.83281670
I'm using the n9 lte version
Somebody please help
on a tablet you will need to have a google voice account and that its linked to hangouts
Dude... I hava done everything... For reference please check the attached screenshot of my hang out settings
Oh the whole section is missing.
On your phone, under the settings for your account does it list both your phone number and your Google voice number?
i've got the same problem
If you look at Settings > Wireless & Networks > More do you have a "Default SMS app" set? As I understand it until there is a default app set ( the Hangouts app) then in Hangouts > Settings menu will not have an SMS option (just displays your account name and "Add Google account")

For this to work, your GMAIL account needs to have GOOGLE VOICE enabled with a PHONE NUMBER.
I'm not certain, but you might also need to have HANGOUTS DIALER installed.
When you do that, a new section will appear in the settings menu (after the google account synchronizes), BELOW the "HANGOUT NOTIFICATIONS" section, called "GOOGLE VOICE - {your google voice number}". In that new section, you will find two checkboxes; "Incoming phone calls", and "Messages". Add a check beside "Messages", and you will have SMS over Google Voice.

Problems with notifications on S9+

So i own 2 businesses and its VERY important I get my Ebay app notifications, Paypal app Notifications, and Gmail notifications, as fast as possible. 24/7. No delay. No Sleep mode. No Hibernation. I want the messages to come through just like a phone call or text.
I smart switched my S8+ over to my S9+. I wanted to make sure I had the S9 + set up and settings exactly before I activated it. So I thought i had the S9+ setup and working just fine on my WIFI. So my S9+ is up and running on my Wifi.
However, I have noticed that when the S9+ screen is off for extended period of time....I DO NOT GET MY GMAIL EMAILS or my EBAY or paypal NOTIFICATIONS until I pickup the phone and turn the screen on. Its like its in some type of sleep mode, do not disturb mode, or hibernation mode even though its not set up like that. This is absolutely frustrating. I need to be able to respond to my customers instantly and as fast as possible otherwise it can cost me sales.
-Do not disturb mode is off
-I added gmail paypal and ebay to the list of apps that should be allowed to use battery all the time with no sleep
-I have notifications set as high importance in all apps and in notifications
Any help or suggestions????
I dont want to have to physically turn my phone screen on to be able to see these important notifications.
thanks
It is Android Doze at mischief. First make sure that the phone is not actively putting those apps to sleep.
Device Maintenance > Battery > Unmonitored apps / Always sleeping apps (scroll down to bottom)
Make sure that those apps are not under "Always sleeping apps." If that does not fix, put those apps to "Unmonitored apps."
Also make sure that each apps are set to receive notification in timely manner.
Open Email, go to settings. It's the gear icon at the top when you swipe from the left in the Email app.
1. Make sure Notification is checked on the first page.
2. Go to individual email accounts.
3. Check the "Sync Settings," and make sure the sync setting is set to "Auto (when received)."
Go to phone's Settings > Apps. Find each apps (eBay, PayPal, etc.) and click on them. You will see "App Info" that tells you how much mobile data, battery, storage the apps consume. Go below to find "App Settings." Click on "Notifications," and make sure that things are correctly checked.

I have done all that (except for using the basic email app) . As mentioned above. But it does not fix the issue.
I just want to use the GMAIL app for my Email. I don't want to use the phone Email app.
It does not allow you to add Gmail to the list of unmonitered battery apps I noticed too. But Ebay paypal and my other messaging apps are defiantly on there.
I don't have my Gmail synced to the stock email on my S8+ and my emails still come through with Gmail notifications instantly.
Any other suggestions???
Notification Issues.
There are definitely problems with the notification system on the S9. I've spent a couple of hours on the phone with Samsung Support and they have been unable to fix it. Hoping to get a software update that fixes it.

Yeah I spent an hour with Sprint tech support . They say it shouldn't be doing this. They have no idea why its doing it. They even did remote view to check all the settings. Let me know if you figure it out.
Should of expected this.
Anybody else?
What about msgs (SMS, MMS, IM), are they coming through timely?

Its not activated so I haven't gotten any text. Just working with it right off Wifi.
So Snapchat seemed to work
Now Ebay is working sporadically
Paypal still wont notify unless the screen is on
Gmail. sporadically too
I also was having intermediate problems with notifications. It seems once I disabled the "easy mute" option in advanced features, I'm getting notifications instantly now. Might be worth a shot to try.

Do you also have the setting in gmail to notify you for every email? Inside gmail settings, click your email, then under the notifications section click "inbox notifications" then make sure "notify for every message" is checked.

Ok, I see that but I noticed its not set up on my S8+ like that. That way I don't get bugged every 2 seconds with the promotional and social messages. Just notifies for all primary messages.
I'm also noticing some problems with notifications from my home security app, all Runtastic Pro apps and notification strip from Mi Home app. Is it Oreo related or is it a specific problem with Galaxy S9?
Received a text this morning on my Gear S3 with the default Messages app. Cleared the notification from my watch which would normally also clear the notification on the phone. Over 5 min later receive the same text on my S9+ also on the default messages app. There seems to be a fairly decent delay in the default sms app on the phone. S9+ is unlocked on Verizon. Gear S3 is Verizon version but I use it as Bluetooth/Wifi only so not connected to 4g network directly.
My S9+ is on Telus. I had to stop using the Samsung messages app a month or so after I got the phone. I stopped getting notifications. It'll buzz and light up but that's it. The icon doesn't have the notification badge (and I have it turned on in settings). I have it set to show a message preview but that doesn't show either. Facebook and Instagram notifications work about the same. It buzzes but that's it. Snapchat sometimes has the notification badge on the icon. The Samsung email app has to be set for notification of every email to show the icon badge.
---------- Post added at 04:22 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:40 AM ----------
The preview is working by turning it on and off and if my screen is on, the notification badge flickers very quickly when the message preview and edge lighting pop up....
For what its worth, if you're using a custom launcher like Nova, then you need to provide additional permissions (ex: Tesla Settings in case of Nova) for the Gmail app & other apps.
Also, you could try- 1) Reset app preferences from the app settings, 2) Remove Gmail cache & data and add your accounts again and 3) clear cache from recovery.
I had this problem, tried every solution mentioned here and elsewhere and ultimately discovered that the Data Saver settings were preventing my email app from checking for notifications. Once I exempted my email app, it began receiving notifications and the notification reminder was working fine.
Settings > Connections Data saver > Allow app while Data saver on
Every time I sat down at home to fix the issue, I'd uninstall a suspect app and notifications would work. Then I'd head out to work and they wouldn't work. Turns out the data saver only comes on away from my home wifi, naturally. This is why it was seemingly "fixed" by everything I tried at home.

"Messages" Payment request message SMS Issue On 7x Pro in US

Hey,
So I know I have a 7x pro and not a regular 7 but there are no forums created yet for the 7x pro and I figured I would post here. I think this is a general color os issue.
Things I have done to my phone (using adb):
1. Removed stock messaging app (sucks big time) and made google messages default
2. Removed the realme login app (I tried signing up but it automatically puts an +86 as a country code and I couldn't sign up)
3. Removed Breeno (I Don't Speak Chinese)
4. Installed All Gapps
Now that I have Gmessages as my default app I still get the occasional stupid "Hint" message (but that's not what I'm here for) and now I'm getting a message that says "Messages is trying to send a payment request message. Please login to verify your account." It pops up randomly and other times it just asks if I'm sure that I want to send message (which works). I think (from testing) this only affects certain sms messages, RCS and MMS seem to work fine. Any help to disable this issue would be greatly appreciated. Short of checking the chinese forums I have looked everywhere with no luck.
you cant disable that mesaage you can only use the default sms app built into realme ui if you dont want that message request payment. i had signal working great without the message but will only work on end to end encrypted users so your contact that sends you the sms must also have signal installed. hopefully when eu rom comes out we can find a workaround.
