Alright, The case the box came is in is kind of girly, anyways the quality of the case is amazing! It doesn't feel like it was cheaply made at all. It doesn't add too much bulk and I can still fit it in my skinnys(Levi's 511 Skinny 29 x 30) front pocket. The buttons are easily accessible even the the volume button being covered by the front flap it is still easy to press / locate since the case has a steep cut out for the volume buttons. Aswell as the S-Pen being so easily accessible. An added perk i liked about this case is that the speaker hole is actually covered by its own mesh. It also has an accessory hole so you could attach an accessory / lanyard to it. The Magnetized kick stand does not interfere with signal(atleast none i can tell).

Zenus cases are the best I've seen so far for the Galaxy Note. I was thinking of getting this one as well but the color combinations just don't do it for me. Also, there's not cutout for the front speaker so it would be a little awkward to have to hold the front leather part back every time. I like that the case clips onto the metal part on the side and doesn't rest on the top of the phone so that a screen guard will thankfully be left untouched. I also love that it has a stand (The only reason I'm not getting the Zenus Masstige Stripe Case). I was wondering though, when the stand is set up, does the little latch (idk what it's called lol, the little thing used to clip on to the front cover to close the case) hide a little part of the screen since presumably, it'll be hanging down a little bit?
EDIT: Ordered it lol. It may have its flaws but it's the best I could find at its price range.
I have one of these (different colors, but this color looks great).
They are extremely high quality. As good or better than Vaja, for instance.
I've posted this before, that make sure you pay more and get the leather ones, as they have a few lines and some of the lines aren't as good quality.
This particular case is just great. The flap is a tad annoying but well worth it overall.
Note: one thing worth mentioning is that they are very light also.

i've been looking at cases that have the flip cover, but they all look like it would peel off the side skins..... this one looks like it like it might be okay.

Hmmm...that's a tricky one. Obviously, it clips in tightly and securely so it might damage the skin during insertion and removal but once it's sitting in there, as long as you don't constantly remove it, it should be fine. I would recommend going to a store and testing out either this case or similar leather cases, but then again, if you harm the skin in the process, then this whole discussion is useless lol. On another note, why use a skin? The note is such a beautiful sleek beast. I wouldn't want to hide away any of the sides or take away from the beautiful protruding glass. That's why I hate my current Capdase Jacket XPose and am going for this case. Just increases the beauty XD. Anyways, yes, back on topic, I wouldn't recommend using a skin with this cover but hopefully someone who's actually tried it will reply.
Side-note: I ordered the Wine-Red / Dark Brown version

These Zenus cases look great and seem very usable. But the downside is that they have a magnet at the back that interferes with S-pen functions (not with the signal). Check in the screen area in front of the magnet by trying to draw several long thin lines with the SPen that cross this area. That case was a money waste for me...

I got these symptoms after a couple of days usage. I contacted the dealer and got a substitute with Capsule Stand Slide Series - White / Lime
When I got my Note off CL came with the Eel leather case. It's slick but I wish it was the capsule.

Ok here is the deal.
I normally use a gel case on my phones. There fit the phones well and cover everything that needs to be.
But they make the phone a lil bit thicker and hide the phone. Normally I get a phone and want to see it for itself.
Well I brought a metal bumper and it looks nice.
But I see that the camera sticks out and touchs when sitting it down.
My girl says that the camera screen is glass and won't break or scratch, but I still like for the phone to not sit on it.
So I am wondering if there is anything I can put around the camera to protected.
I was thinking of something like a form pad so the camera wouldn't touch but idk.
I know some will say get one of the charger back but then it makes the phone thick and defeats the point.
Whole new lens cover assembly cost about $6 on e-bay and shouldn't be difficult to DIY, but you could get some small piece of thick one sided foam tape, cut it to shape and stick around the cam, why not. If it gets dirty or comes off, make new one. Personally I have not seen anything like that commercially, wait, actually there is lens mount you can glue around cam, it comes with small tele lens that you can attach on top.

Yea I saw the replacements on eBay for like $10ship and I'm a tech person so I can replace it no problem.
And I didn't thing about the lens. I know they have a metal ring.
I'll check into everything.

I have a metal bumper also. I had an extra home button sticker that I sticked near the camera lens. Now when I lay flat down it doesn't lay on the camera lens.

I use skinomi clear skin. They include a skin for the bottom half of the camera. When my phone is laying flat the lens doesn't touch. As a bonus since you're using a metal bumper, the side skins can act as an all around protection between the bumper and the chrome trim. Much better than what the bumper comes with. But you will probably need to remove the ones on the bumper first as it will become too thick and the bumper won't fit properly.

I am updated to Kitkat,unrooted. so s-view no work for me. Thats why I took the front flap of my white spigen slim armor view out, and let the back side on on white note3 ... gives it some kind of a z10-ish look.
coming back to the point, my case does the job well, apart from protecting the sides from scratches, by keeping the camera lens from having contact when lying flat. well, quite a hefty investment if you want to protect your lens only. but since I already purchased it, it does the job decently, and I dont find it that much of bulky. anyhow, bulky or not, to me - this is a question of habit. i mean, now that I look and take a grasp of my old i9100, it seems very small now, which wasnt the case some months back my two cents

Yea i got a normal gel case for the phone. I have always use those without problems but i got a bumper for the note 3. It just feels better, so trying to keep the phone slim.
I thought about putting a dot of hot glue somewhere around it to lift it up. But i just didnt wanna do that to a new phone.
I want a square that would fit right around the camera and stick to the back plate.
Ill keep looking

I was wondering if anyone had recommendations on a TPU Gel Case, I was looking for something with a low profile that still gives solid protection without blocking to much of the "edge" display.
I have seen a couple a couple from Spigen and LK that look promising, but was wondering if anyone has first-hand experience with a good case. The main things I want are
1. Grippy/Flexible TPU
2. Protection of the frame at top/bottom
3. Lots of lift on top/bottom or corners to give clearance if you lay the phone flat on the screen

Not familiar with those, but the Tudia has etched sides to add grip. Some others I have are smooth and can be a bit slippery. The Tudia feels great in the hand.

Okay, thanks. They are more like silicone than TPU and have awesome grip. They have a microfiber lining too so they don't leave marks, etc on the back of the phone. I'm looking for something like that if I can find one.
Nillkin nature, best case ever. If you give a try, you will use it in all your phones in the future. I used it with my last 3 phones.
Moreover, the case fixes the Fingerprint failed location issue. You will never touch your camera lens anymore.

I definitely like the idea of having the camera and sensors separated on the back. My one concern for the Nillkin is about screen protection. Is the lip on the top/bottom substantial enough to protect the screen?

If you put your phone face down with the Nillkin nature case, the screen doesn't touch the surface, so the lip on the top and bottom are enough.
But what I like the most of this case, is how are separated the camera and the Fingerprint sensor. The hole for the camera is so small that is no possible to touch the camera lens anymore (unless you have a very thin finger). On the other hand is the Fingerprint sensor hole so big, that your finger falls naturally in the right position, while without a case the 50% the times is touching the camera.
Between, if you have the midnight black version and you decide to get the Nillkin, go for the grey one. It looks awesome and much better than the clear one.
Anyone use these? I bought it and am giving it a try. It was real easy to apply.

Word, refraction.
No need for this. The outside lens are the built in lense guards!* By adding an additional layer of glass (a optical element) you introduce a potential litany of optical issues that to a greater or lesser degree will certainly degrade the image and potentially the AF performance. Samsung went to a lot of trouble to reduce lense flaring too, don't undo that!
A good case with raised cam guards is far superior protection.
*these are relatively cheap and easy to replace. They are glass and wouldn't scratch unless you rub the grit into them. Simply dry wipe with a microfiber cloth to clean.

No anti-reflective coatings. Tempered glass isn't known for its flatness.
It's like putting a $16 UV filter on a Heliopan UV filter, pointless.

The protector cost about the same as the factory lense protector.

Fair enough.
Because it's not back coated with an anti-reflective coating(s) the first most obvious problem could back reflections from the sensor or other optical elements causing ghosting. The factory protector and lens elements do have this.
If not perfectly flat it introduces distortion to the images. Some light is also lost due to refraction by the untreated glass as well just by adding another optical element.
Well it's only been one day and haven't taken many pics but so far I'm happy with it. The main reason I wanted it is the fact that the camera lenses are always exposed and when the phone is in and out of pockets, slid around on tables, always getting touched,if it does get scratched it's easy to change and inexpensive. All the arguments against a protector are just like a UV filter on DSLR lenses. And that's still not a closed case with a definative answer.

My Note 10+ is 2.5 yo and used in a dusty environment plus I live in the desert. It's in a Bolt case and it's factory protector is actually polycarbonate I think. I try not to grab it there when in my pocket as it makes a convenient gripping point and only use a clean dry microfiber cloth to clean it*. No scratches, it's holding up well.
With DSLR's there is no protective element on most lens to begin with, there are a few exceptions**. The front element is somewhat protected by the hood and most even on L glass aren't terribly expensive.
A good filter like the brass ring Heliopan UV filter: -Makes cleaning easing
-With front vented lens it's the final dust seal and helps reduce the amount of dust the lense sucks up... which is important.
-It will sacrifice itself and help absorb impact G's when $hit goes south.
The biggest hassle with the factory phone lens protector is replacing it. The rear cover likely must be removed. That's probably a none issue as it will need a battery in a year or two if heavily used and it can easily be replaced at that time if needed.
*avoid touching any optic elements with fingers, this will scratch them eventually as fingers easily pickup fine grit.
Do Not use anything other than a thick clean microfiber cloth to clean. Dry is ok, but shake it out first, wet if needed... use your best judgment.
Wash the microfiber clothes with ammonia water, and use RO water to rinse.
**in some extremely high dollar Canon telephoto lens the front element is a protective flat lense. The lense behind it costs hundreds of dollars to replace, it's not a $70 lense! A good Heliopan UV filter is actually about the same cost as the front element it's protecting in most applications
That said Heliopan's were always on the end of my cams.

It is too much price for camera protection! I applied a phone cover on my S22+ which also covers the camera and gives good protection.
Has anyone else also noticed dust gathering relatively rapidly over the 3x lens especially when using cases which completely surround it? A lot of cases have this style now, presumably because it helps with lens protection - I'd rather it actually have more opening with the Flash LED and Laser AF though, so that dust can more spontaneously distribute away and not accumulate over the 3x lens. The other larger lenses don't seem to have this issue, presumably because there's a larger surface area for the dust to distribute and spontaneously move away.
What's interesting though is that despite the 3x lens looking quite dusty in appearance, it doesn't appear to affect photo/video quality, which is somewhat counter-intuitive - how bad does it need to get before it affects this? Perhaps smudges are more of an issue than dust particles over a lens?
Finally, I'd be interested in simple suggestions to clean the dust off the lens in this particular scenario, without removing the case - it's actually quite hard to do this over the 3x lens, as the access to it is quite limited due to being a relatively small hole, and the dust tends to be quite stubborn!

I have two cases, one is a spigen liquid air which has a single long vertical pill cutout around the 3x and autofocus lens modules and another one is a no name case with individual holes for each lens (sorta like the one you described). No dust accumulation around the 3X lens in either of them.
Is it possible your particular case material holds more static electricity and attracts dust particles? I'm just thinking out loud here, no particular evidence.

I think the "single long vertical pill cutout" will accumulate less dust - intuitively, that's simply the "laws of physics"! That is, a larger cutout will tend to accumulate less dust due to my explanation in the first post.
Regarding static electricity, I don't think so for my case, since it's leather. Do you carry your phone in your pocket often? I find that's the main way the dust accumulates for me.

Yes, pant pockets for most of the day unless i'm drviving, in which case it's on the dashboard mount. For the last few days its been in the individual punch-hole type case but i still don't see any dust around the 3x camera.

Yes I think it depends on what pockets. Some of mine don't collect dust as quickly, but I have certain shorts which seem to spray dust at the lens!

You can actually see some dust quite clearly even on that photo I think, including a quite large "S-shaped" particle over the 3x lens. It also appears there are tiny white specks over and around the lens too, and if I remember correctly, you only had the phone for a few days at the time of the photo. I'd like to see a follow up picture now (assuming you haven't done any cleaning at all over the 3x lens).

That S shaped thing is a strand of lint from my pocket, and its "on" the lens, not around it. I've found this common with all phones I've owned, especially when using cotton/linen trousers. There isn't much dust collected around the lenses to my naked eyes (with zooming in on a well focussed, hi-res pic, some particles may be visible i guess)
Since then I've bought myself a bunch of cases to play around with. The recent ones have individual camera cutouts with no space for dust to collect - so I don't think they will be very helpful. But I'll post an image anyway. The pics attached are with the official Samsung Clear Case. Has been on the phone since the 19th of this Month.
I have UAG Plyo case and carry usually in jeans pocket. Now I can confirm too that 3x lens is magnet for dust, more than other lenses with autofocus circle too.
In next days I try samsung leather cover with flat sheet and observe maybe difference in this case.
You know you can literally just WASH the phone! It's water resistant. I do it all the time to keep dust off!
No doubt best under a Samsung faucet...

With size (big like you know) S23U sitting with this holster hooked to belt is very uncomfortable and risk broke phone.
Maybe with standard S23 but not with S23U in my opinion.
I tested leather holster for belt with my old Note 9 few years ago and used him maybe only several times.
Next of course only for me but walk on the street with similar big holester is strange ( magnet looking other people).
But it's idea for solve problem from topic.

Yes it is uncomfortable at times particularly getting in and out of a service truck!
But I've never broken a phone or even come close to having damage and I've had all the "big boys" including folds on my hip doing various things including climbing radio towers! The thought of having it in a pocket in such places is like fingernails dragging across a chalkboard, not to mention pulling out the phone when needed. It just glides in and out easy. If I ever wanted to go naked that's the way I'd go.
If carrying vertically and your shirt is pulled over some may think you're packing and that could be good or bad depending on the situation. :-|

Any lint/dust gathering is part of my point though. To clarify, it's inevitable that dust will eventually gather around/over the lenses - it's not a matter of "if" (something that you seem to be implying at least), but of "when".
In general, I've noticed that the dust gathering really only starts becoming more noticeable after 5-7 days. After 11-14 days, it becomes quite significant to the point that one wonders how it's not affecting camera footage (but it doesn't appear to do so somehow). I think definitely specific shorts/trousers material will contribute more dust than others, so it's hard to compare my use to eg. yours specifically. However, my ultimate point was that the dust tends to gather at a faster rate over the 3x lens due to what I've already explained, and that cleaning it is quite a hassle with the cases which completely surround it - from my experience, essentially to clean it properly/well, you need to completely remove the case, which is a bit disappointing relatively speaking.

There were no implications in my posts, just my own observations, which seem to be different from yours - like you said: hard to compare.

That's fair enough, although surprised you feel that way. There is no difference in opinion that I can see - we both agree that lint/dust gathers on/around the lens (you even showed it in many of your photos). Inevitably, this lint/dust will get worse and worse with time if you never clean it. We also both agreed (I think) that different material shorts/trousers and/or environmental conditions can contribute to rate of dust gathering.
These are all obvious things though, much like how everyone would concede that they get fingerprint marks/smudges on the front of their screen which "needs" a purposeful clean/wipe every now and then.
Ultimately I was actually hoping someone could comment on this query in my original post:
"...simple suggestions to clean the dust off the lens in this particular scenario, without removing the case"

In next days I try samsung leather cover with flat sheet and observe maybe difference in this case.

Case without higher places/circles around camera lenses which can more move dust in pocket
I had a Spigen Rugged Armour and a Ringke Onyx, both of which have the precise cutouts, and both of which resulted in dust collecting. I really liked both of these cases, but have now settled on a Spigen Optik Armor for just this reason - the sliding door keeps the lenses absolutely pristine with no dust, fingerprints, or risk of scratching. I am wondering buy Spigen Optic Armor for good protect but not too bulky like my UAG Plyo so I looking to slimmer case.
Camel leather cover which gift for buy phone look very nice, good in touch but I am affraid about will do micro scratch after time on the lenses from carry in pocket.
Can you tell me about your impressions this armor optik?
Especially about mechanism covered lenses
