Question "Galaxy system app update" - Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

Hi there, this appears to be a new setting for S23. To access it:
Settings - Security and privacy - Other security settings - Galaxy system app update
It appears to be enabled by default. My question is - what if you disable it? Will you still get notifications when an update is available so you can "manually" install it?

you can manually check for updates.

Yes, but I was more asking if notifications would still be sent automatically if there's an update available?

OTA Update Notification

I don't accept OTA Updates. Is there any way to turn off the notification from the notification bar permanently? I've looked around in all of the phone's settings but I can't find a setting. Maybe I'm just missing it?
I've never seen a setting for that either

Settings > apps > updater > clear data :: No update available message.
I'm not saying to delete updater, but try "uninstalling".

Thanks. That at least got rid of the notification. I'm guessing I'll probably have to do that every time I reset my phone if I don't uninstall the updater.

[Q] How to Disable Update Notification?

My phone is rooted, TWRP installed. The updates use to have the option to "Install Later", but now that option is gone. The only option is to Download. I tried using Android Tuner and System Tuner to disable the notifications, but I get the message "Failed to disable option" when I deselect the checkbox next to the update notification.
Any ideas?

You get the "Install Later" option only after downloading .
GravityBox from XPosed Framework also has an ongoing notification blocker.

That doesn't help me at all... Even after downloading the 133mb update, the notification still exists. I don't want to download the update, I want to disable the notification entirely.

First, disable update checks in Settings. Then clear data for Updater in Settings. Reboot. See if that works.

There is no place in Settings > Updates to disable updates. Running JB 4.1

Are you sure?
Should be Settings -> System Updates -> HTC software update. There should be a box to uncheck for automatically checking for updates. You're saying that isn't there?

What rom are you running? Most devs disable HTC Software updates from the System updates section. You can find it in the stock Rooted rom, and some others.

Unbranded Android TV - No android settings app

Hi everyone,
I have an unbranded (sticker brand) Android TV that apparently has a custom firmware with almost everything modified, with the most annoying thing is that they have completely removed the stock Android settings app and replaced it with a custom settings app that has hardly any options. That prevents by from doing even basic stuff such as cleaning app's cache and data. Using ES Task Manager I've verified that they actually removed the settings app and not just the launcher link.
Is there any way I can get the native settings app into the device? Is there any alternative settings app that does a good job? I can install apks from unknown sources but no ADB (no hardware connection to PC).
Also, any rooting advice will also be appreciated but this is not critical. I have no ADB but the Android version is 4.4.2 and not really updated so exploit-based roots may work.
Bump
Hi,
Did you find any solution?
i'm even not able to boot in recovery mode
Try this

It can open practical settings which some phone vendors hide for user

How to use overlay/floating apps in Android 6.0 conveniently?

With the latest update in marshmallow devices , now we get a 'screen overlay detected' dialog which doesn't allow us to allow or deny any permission. I also Googled about this issue and i found out that the 'pie control' app installed in my phone was causing it and it was a part of the update that screen overlays should be disabled while granting permission.
Now i just want to ask that how is it gonna be possible for marshmallow users to use screen overlay apps as we would have to disable them every time any app asks for any permission :|

Disable the Google OTA updates completely

Hi,
My android device is rooted and I would like to disable the Google OTA updates completely.
I did following steps:
Installed Disable Services and allowed it for root access.
Opened Disable Services
Under System Apps, selected Google Services Framework
I found SystemUpdateService is already unchecked.
I checked it and again unchecked it, then I restarted the android device.
However I see the notification for System Update. For its temporary resolution, I unchecked the notification of Google Play Services.
Please help me to disable the Google OTA updates completely
Regards
Ugn10
