Hi everyone!
I've ben having problems with my S23Ultra in that I've been noticing that both Galaxy Buds Pro Manger and Google Play Services will continue to run in the background even though I'm not using my ear buds.
Is this something people are aware of or have experienced in the past?
It's not a MASSIVE battery drain but it is noticeable.
Since my last full charge Google Play services has been active less than 1 minute but has used .5% of battery, and Galaxy Buds Pro Manager has been active less than a 1 minutes but has used .3% battery. Keep in mind, I haven't used my buds at all since my last full charge.
All the galaxy wearable apps are in deep sleep so I don't understand how they could be using batter in the background as well?
Thank you for any help!
Nope..I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary!
Having the same issue here but only with Google Play Services. It is working a lot in the background and draining my battery significantly.
For example, today after a 100% charge now with 91%, Google Play Services has been active in the background 7h, and has used 0.8% battery, which equate to 9% of the total battery drain for me today.
Does anyone know how to minimise the background use of Google Play Services?

Yes this exactly!! If anyone knows please bless us with your advice!
Go to play store, settings, genera and turn off app install optimization...
Also you can try to disable auto app updates and do it manually.

That is quite useless on newest smartphones, because phones have Li-Ion of Li-Po batteries, which do not have socalled "memory effect", that means calibrating the battery won't help(that includes removing battery_stats.bin file).
To the topic starter: How much faster does it drain?
Take a look in the Battery Usage, what does it show there? If you can, take a screenshot and attach it to your message.

If you have automatic synchronization on, turn the time down, I mean that make it update after longer time for all apps, twitter, Facebook, email etc

Hi
I have a Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 running on WanamLite XXELKC V5.1.
I just put this new ROM in recently. But now I notice that my battery is getting drained faster than before. The stock battery stats shows that google services is the major contributor.
Any ideas ?
try to disable google now's features.. just open google now and then his settings..
if you have your s3 rooted, you might just delete/move the apps from /system/app folder to your sdcard,
i moved a lot of apps that were consuming battery and now its better so... just another way

The point is... Before tHis ROM, I was running the stock 4.1. 1, with even Google Now turned on....
So i should be able to do the same with this ROM too right.....
I've tried different roms and all the time the battery drain was due to google now
Turn off WiFi location access as when that's on maps will run in background as well as network location service.
Disable apps that run all the time (facebook, Whatsapp). I use App Quarantine to do this, places a widget where you can click to disable, clock to enable +open.
Reduce auto sync apps and their frequency. I generally only have gmail auto.
Before leaving your phone to sleep for 10+ minutes, kill background processes. Majority of the time my ruining apps is ONLY Android Keyboard, (set CPU if I feel like using profiles).

Too bad, but the battery is still so much better than the iphone for length right?
whatsapp consomes closely to no energy.
My Iphone lasted about as long as my S3 with all process tuned (location services off and so on)

All of what you said does make sense....
I don't think that any of my settings have changed after getting the new ROM... So what i am trying to understand is why Google services is suddenly eating up all my battery.....
Anyhow, somewhere someone Suggested to delete all the accounts and add them again..... I tried that and somehow today Google services doesn't seem to be there in the list of battery draining apps......
Let me Keep am eye.... Will keep you posted......

So I've been trying to reduce the amount my phone wakes up. So far in gsam, the ones that consern me are android system and google services. Android system held my phone awake for 1.5 hrs and woke it 70 times. Google services was held awake for 22seconds but woke it 63 times. These are my 2 biggest wakelocks. I have sync turned off etc. How can I stop/ reduce the amount of wake locks?
Well android system is your phone Lol so that has to stay on or you have no ROM at all
And Google services is recommended to be on
If you need info on what the services do than go into the manage apps section than scroll the right so it says all at the top and click on the service and scroll down and it will tell you why that service is needed/ triggered by
Not all of the services will tell you exactly what there for but if your only worried about those 2 than your phone is fine
EDIT: if you scroll to the the running section in app manager and click on a service it gives you what you need to know
this is mine

Are you using latitude? Try disabling google location services to see if that cuts down on the number of wake ups.
Of course if you have sync off you'd think it would kill that too, just taking a guess.

"google messaging service" & "media" are constantly running. How would I end those? Do I even need messaging service? I can't find it on android tuner in the system app sections.
There's a thread on media server wakelocks and someone said it may be due to corrupted media files. Check it out:

Hi I have NeatRom 4.4.4 and I have longlasting problem with google play services and battery drain.
The problem always occurs when device is fully charged. Google play services causes permanent wake lock and extremly drain battery. When device is restarted then problem is temporarily solved till the next full charge of battery.
I tried install wakelock detector which found that configfetchservice is main cause of wakelock. I tried to dissable this servise trough the app disable service but nothing has changed
the wake lock detector now doesnt show any unusual wakelock but google play services still rapidly drain battery because of wake lock so its clear that wakelock app doesnt work correctly.
I have also tried uninstall updates of google play services and then reinstall again but nothing has changed.
could somebody give me any advice with this problem?
I read that this problem occurs with android 5 but I have 4.4.4.
BTW I have autosync off, GPS off and location off
@Samuelgentl
Are u sure , that services are forced to go into deepsleep ? Check them again. Install app called 'App Ops' (the one with lolipop like icon) . And search throung all of your apps and disable loation permissions and keep awake permissions.

Is it OK to completely disable google play services wake lock? I thought that only one part of google play services makes problem and only this one should be disabled. But I dont know which one causes problem.
I read on the internet that problematic are systemupdateservices and configfetchservices. I have tried to disable configfetchservice and enable updateservices but it seems not to solve problem.
This google services battery drain is a big mistery for me.

Hello all,
GSAM is reporting a high wake-lock under the banner SMD Wakeup. Can someone explain what it means and how to get rid of it?!!!!!
Maybe it's knox enrollment service, com.sec.enterprise.knox.cloudmdm.smdms?
I am also suffering from too many wakelocks from the Android system itself.
Naptime app by Franco the same person who makes Franco kernel manager. It's on Google Play store and can be used for free and you give it a few extra adb permissions with a pc and shizuku adb shell and boom you have better wake lock controls and more control over how android sleeps in general.

Nope...it's called Significant Motion Detection under the Doze and any SMDs come into this bracket (such as the phone moving, you moving while the phone is on you, the screen turning on due to a notification etc) the phone goes off doze and you have a wake lock. Either Samsung devs smoked something really crazy when they released this update, or Android 13 has a broken doze mode. I don't think it's the latter! The bets are open!
