Question Go back to stable update version ? - Google Pixel 6

Hi,
Can I update my Pixel 6 from T3B1.230224.005 (beta) to TQ2A.230305.008 (stable) without losing my data ?
I read to exit beta updates, there are some cases when we do not have to wipe our phone.
Install T3B1 image was a mistake, I thought it was a stable version :-/
Thanks+++

Unlocked bootloader folks can flash with TWRP like normal
Bootloader locked folks that want to update:
*You MUST be on 10.0.2.0 Stable to use the built-in updater app.
*If you are on 10.0.3.0 Stable, since it was officially revoked, so you must downgrade to 10.0.2.0 (a data wipe is required) then can updgrade to the 10.1.1.0
NOTE:This STABLE ROM still missing a few of the functions of the latest GLOBAL BETA 8.11.29
Changelog:
System:
Restore Updated Android Security Patch To October 1, 2018
Restore Updated Android Security Patch To November 1, 2018

Optimize Camera's Stability
Settings:
Optimize Screen Brightness In Reading Mode
Optimize The 'Tap To Wake' Feature Works Faster Now
-I'm sure there is more, they never mention all of the changes -even in the Beta's they don't mention important fixes (like Android Auto was fixed).

Users have reported you can downgrade with the built-in updater to 10.0.2.0 but they needed to wipe data to get it to boot-up. Then once booted allowed the upgrade. (this is also written in the OP you quoted )

Thanks a lot dude, my final dumb question, the data wipe must be done with the Miui recovery or can i select the wipe data option from the built-in updater ?

I believe they do the same thing (telling it to wipe should reboot you to the recovery), so it shouldn't matter. I did not have the 10.0.3.0 so i'm relying on what was reported to work.
Hi! Is it possible to install the update from TWRP if you are on 10.0.3.0 safely or is it mandatory go back to 10.0.2.0 first?

With TWRP, i haven't seen any issues flashing any Global ROMS, it should work without issues. Worst case scenario maybe have to format data if it doesn't boot.

Bootloop I am trying to flash 10.0.2 because I do not want format data...
I have just had a heart attack. I was reflashing 10.0.2 when I realized all the matter about antirollback... I was in panic so I stopped the flash (I was doing it through ADB) and I checked the fastboot getvar anti, and I got "1" so now I am trying to reflash 10.0.3 and I will not touch anything else... I will let you know if something goes wrong.
Bootloop again :/ I supposed I will try to install the 10.0.2 with miflash. Does anybody know how I could avoid format data in order to have magisk and 10.0.2?
I had to format data but I am still stuck on bootloop
I'm on 8.11.29 any concerns about ARB, and what about battery life is it any better than on global beta ?

Okey, I am getting nervous. I have tried with miflash and I am still stuck on bootloop (could I have bricked the phone? I mean, this looks like softbrick but I am not sure...). I am going to try with a full format... but if anybody can help I will be grateful
Oh no..
I am on 10.0.3....
Does this mean Xiaomi will not release a Update for this version because it was revoked?
I dont want to loose all my Data...

Me too, many people are on 10.0.3 so I don’t think that will be a issue for us, they will release it maybe in few days.
This new version FIX THE NOTIFICATION?
Is the optin ti hide the notch available?
any 10.0.30.0 user with unlocked bootloader success update via twrp?? like other user, im concern to not lose my data..
If you are already on 10.0.3.0, probably it would be better to wait for a few days in order to get an OTA, rather than risk yourself downgrading to 10.0.2.0 and lose all your data.

Latest updates not showing?

Hello.
I'm still running MIUI 9 9.6.14.0 - the version which the Poco F1 (Global) came installed with.
A few months ago I've enabled the System Updater app and the phone found the MIUI 10 10.0.4.0 update.
However now we have newer updates like MIUI 10 10.0.6.0 and MIUI 10 10.1.3.0, but the System Updater app can't find them. How come?
Note that I wish to update directly to the MIUI 10 10.1.3.0 Pie version the official way, through the Updater app.
Is that possible?
I've tried clearing all data of the System Updater app and tried rechecking for the new update, but it always finds the 10.0.4.0 update.
Have a look at this thread and download the ROM from the server with the link provided in the XDA article. You still flash it with system updater
It used to be said that making serial requests for new updates (at least with Nexus phones) tended to delay updates being made available to you, but this could be an old geek's tale
Cool. I will flash it the way you suggested.
Do I need to wipe or factory reset when upgrading major OS version? If so, how do I do that?

downgrade from MIUI 10 to MIUI 8.12.20

I have Xiaomi Mi 8 with MIUI 10.2.1.0 Global Stable and I would like to downgrade to MIUI 8.12.20. so I have 2 questions :
* Where to download the MIUI 8.12.20 rom ?
* How to downgrade from MIUI Stable 10.2.1.0 to MIUI 10 8.12.20 ?
I'm a new user of Xiaomi phones, I have no idea from where to start. I google those questions and I read a lot of contradictory informations (some says that it's not possible to downgrade, others says that you just have to flash it, ...). I installed android device bridge and fastboot. Also applied to unlock the bootloader today so I have to wait a while to be able to unlock it for real.
Can you please help me ?
If you can unlock your bootloader you can use mi flash and fastboot to flash beta rom.

you can download recovery rom from en.miui.com and flash though updater app in system settings, backup your data first it will clean all device data
Thank you for your answer. I read that the rollback protection will brick the phone if I try to install a older version my rom. A beta version will skip that check ?
Why would going from android pie stable to android pie beta ever trigger arb?
Actually the entire premise makes no sense... 8.12.20? Stable? Wat?
Miui 8 on mi 8? Wat?

Does the version of miui change anything? Or it is only the android version? If it is only android version it's easier.

Ok thanks. So I'm on a stable miui 10 build 2.1.0 and I need to install developer build from 3 weeks ago (probably miui 10 but not sure).
I'm trying to install the required version of miui to install havoc ROM. It is written in the ROM requirement that I need to install 8.12.20 and then flash the ROM on top of it.
So if I got it, I need to wait for the unlocking of the bootloader and then install the developer build.
Does it change something if I download the MIUI 8.12.20 from xiaomi.eu ? I don't find that rom on en.miui.com. Do you know any trusted source to download ROM ?

Good to know. Thanks for the information.
Can someone confirm that there is no risk to flash miui Dev 8.12.20 on top on miui global stable 10.2.1.0 ? No risk for arb ?
And is it possible to reinstall an official version of miui in the future after flashing developer build then custom ROM ?
Yes you'll need to unlock bootloader to install custom rom.
No you dont have to wait to install global beta, you can do that straight from the miui updater on your phone (three dots \ choose update package)
It'll factory reset your phone.
I don't know if you can go from 10.2.x.x stable straight to 8.12.20 beta but the updater will tell you.
Worst case you'll have to downgrade to an earlier stable release first.
The miui updater will never allow you two trigger arb and arb will only ever get triggered when trying to downgrade the ANDROID version.
Google to find out how to check the current status of arb via adb

I don't know if you can go from 10.2.x.x stable straight to 8.12.20 beta but the updater will tell you.
Worst case you'll have to downgrade to an earlier stable release first.
The miui updater will never allow you two trigger arb and arb will only ever get triggered when trying to downgrade the ANDROID version.
Google to find out how to check the current status of arb via adb

To move from stable to beta I need to unlock the bootloader and this operation takes a while if I understood coreectly. I just applied to unlock my bootloader so I presume I have to wait around 15 days to be able to start, is it correct ?
I did not get why I would have to pass by an earlier stable release first, can you give me more informations please?
Thank you, really appreciate. Was completely lost regarding all those things.

Is it possible to download old version of miui from en.miui.com? I only found the latest version there and I'm looking for miui 10 8.12.20.
Does the version of miui change anything? Or it is only the android version? If it is only android version it's easier.

Yes you can download from xiaomi servers but you needa link, here it is:
http://bigota.d.miui.com/8.12.20/miui_MI8Global_8.12.20_c7a9af8587_9.0.zip
Stable versions use older sources than weekly version

Is it the official global dev rom ? Thank you
Another question to install my new rom, which version of TWRP should I install ? There are many version for xiaomi (wzsx, FireDance-Edition, and many others). Is there any difference ? I just want TWRP, but I don't understand why there are so many different versions of the same recovery for the same phone... Someone understood that ?
EDIT: a user from xiaomi.eu told me to take TWRP FireDance-Edition for the many languages included. Is it a good choice ?

Well, 8.12.20 it's based on MIUI10. If you want to go Beta, just flash 9.1.10 Global Beta, that it's the latest build.
There's a ton of guide on official en.miui.com, just follow them!

My goal is not go Beta but to install Havoc. In the first post of the rom he says, first install 8.12.20 and then flash the rom. That's why i'm asking for that specific version.

9.1.10 is better than 8.12.20, and as I said on Havoc thread the 8.12.20 is the minimum base firmware required, not the only one.
Feel free to try what you want
Other than that, use latest PitchBlack Recovery (based on 3.2.3 TWRP) as recovery.

Interesting. Which miui version would be better to take? Is there one more stable than the other? Is it better to install the latest beta and flash havoc on top of it?
Thank you for pitch-black recommandation. Seems to be a fork of twrp, what your motivation to go with that one instead of twrp?
Your help is yeally appreciate Thanks you for taking the time to answer those questions.
I would stick with whatever the ROM maintainer recommends for firmware. See link got -perfect example of why:

Use only 8.12.20 vendor+firmvare, 9.1.3 goes to screen lag because of new libs wich did not adapt to current built of ROM

Just to notice you. If you apply for unlock on stable rom. Dont change to beta, because it will reset your time, and you have to make new apply

Miui v12.2.1.0 RJBMIXM

Hi, my mi10 is currently running global v12.0.6 QJBMIXM stable. I have now started to get an OTA message saying v12.2.1.0 RJBMIXM is ready to d/load.
I have read on here some horror stories about the 12.2 version in general, so my question is: Have Xiaomi sorted the bugs in v12 yet ? or should I just keep clear of this 12.2 version altogether.
I also read on some other sites that Xiaomi are telling users not to d/load 12.2. because its so buggy. If this is the case then why are they still pushing it OTA
I returned to Android 10. The Android 11 version currently has many bugs and many software is not compatible. It is recommended to wait 1 month or 2 before updating.

Thanks,,, thats what I was thinking, I've heard a lot about Xiaomi's Android 11 & none of it good. Its just daft that they're pushing an OTA version with so many Known bugs in it.
As far as I know, there were two versions of 12.2.2 OTA updates - one that was quickly revoked and the second one which is suppose to be fixed. If you mention the problems and bugs, it would be nice to give some precise infor for other users to understand what actually is not working and to decide.
I am personally using a XEU ROM, and am getting ready to move to A11 build, after many users confirmed that it's running fine.
12/20/10 is not good.
The gestures don't work well. After exiting google maps, the gestures generally do not react. You have to put the phone to sleep and wake it up again.
The battery wears out faster.
Any problems with charging when the phone is turned off.
I do not recommend it, it's better to install earlier versions, but application cloning and OK Google do not work in them
Mate, you're talking about a weekly beta build. @markcoopz was asking about last stable build.

Did your 12.2.2.0 OTA say if it was a stable or a stable beta.
My 12.2.1.0 OTA says that its a "Limited release for pilot testers". Thats why I was asking if its worth the hassle. If I ignore this update, will I automatically get the next the next ver. or will the OTA system expect me to install this 1 ist.

I have same rom. No problems.
On android 11 both stock and miuimix version is there a decent twrp for it? I have the one chinese variant from littleturtle that works somewhat and none of the other variants of twrp even boot to twrp on 11 they all go back to fastboot. If you do fastboot boot command you get a black screen. The littleturtle build boots on reboot but not on fastboot boot... does not show data to even be able to mount, will flash both stock and miuimix roms and canary magisk but is quirky.

It says Miui12.2.2.0 Stsble
Have the global edition UMI R was solid as long as I did not try to root it,, TWRP (little turtle edition) was buggy and would flash but was limited on what it would do, had to use canary magisk and it was buggy, LR TWRP would loop if you flashed on R but would boot if you waited a while.. literally have a black screen and think its bricked then it comes up... So I downgraded to Q (used MiFlash) was able to flash working twrp (LR edition) and magisk (latest) then went to miuimix Q also with same TWRP and Magisk. Waiting for development on R as I the workarounds for R for the most part did not work on Miui global R. Would reboot phone sometimes ok others to fastboot. Even with Q some reboots go to fastboot and TWRP is still there and working but it will say no OS installed. Dirty flash over it and it comes back like nothing happened even current magisk persisted. Love the speed and phone until it does this. I did not see a great deal of better features with R over Q to justify continued effort until more development occurs. Still not risking Viper4Android on it, Wavelet does work though and offers some of what is in Viper4Android.
I have the global edition and I am on 12.6.0. Had an ota a few weeks ago and went to download but it comes up not found. Now when I check updates I don't get any new one. I assume they have pulled these updates?
I received 12.2.4 EEA this morning. Seems better than 12.2.1 but fonts don't work anymore
My phone is still on MIUI V12.2.2.0 RJBMIXM, i am facing so many issues in this version, system errors, miui crashs, application crashes, cant share anything between applications, and i have been waiting from beginning of December for a new version to be released, but no luck untill now, i wish if i can downgrade to MIUI 12 A10 based

Download the correct firmware from: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...a-oxygen-os-repo-of-oxygen-os-builds.4003455/
Place it in the root directory of your SD Card and do a local upgrade via Settings > System > System updates > Cog Wheel > Local upgrade > point to firmware you downloaded.
@Hw4ng3r
Thank you for your reply. Do i have to do all updates in order ( 10.0.0.5, 10.0.0.6, 10.0.0.7 ... and so on) or does the last one 10.0.0.14 contain all previous updates? Does this update wipe my phone data or will i have everything left on it.
In case of update 10.0.0.14 there are 2 update files, do u know witch one is the last and witch one should i download?
Thank you

No you do not need to update in order. Just pick the latest version ( or version you want) and you're good to go.
The BA version apparently has two zips for the .14. One was what was available pre Feb 2021, and one that is there on the EU support site now. I'm not sure what has changed between the two versions though. Maybe someone else that knows more can comment on that.
Just be warned that if you do go Android 11 and want to come back to Android 10, you will need a data wipe to come back.
Thank you for your help!
I`m downloading now the .14 version from official website and doing the update.
Thanks again and topic can be closed if needed.
