Question Glass Replacements for Duo 2 (outer glass) - Microsoft Surface Duo 2

So my surface duo 2 has a crack on outside glass (side that doesn't have camera on it)
I contacted MS and those funny guys said yeah nah nah yeah nah that will be £670 for 1 sheet of glass lmao
I looked around and didn't find anything
Does anyone know any places where I could that piece of glass I found one for Surface Duo 1 but idk if that will fit on duo 2
Yes I know I can cover it with a skin already did so but id still wanna fix it long term

I have the same problem and haven't been able to find a solution either. The only thing I found which at least smoothed out the crack a bit was using epoxy resin before applying a skin. It's a bit of a longer term fix than only using a skin but it's far from ideal unfortunately.

3 months no protection/no scratches.
Is the camera cover made of gorrila glass as well? That's the bit I am worry about since I can't find a screen protector for it.

It is not, when I had to send in my replacement phone I took a nail to it, the front was fine, no scratch, the camera plastic did get scratched. So be careful.

I us the ZAGG screen protector its like stab proof and whatnot. I love it. Been using it since my first smartphone. They can get somewhat pricey depending where you buy them i usually buy them at radio shack and have them put it on for me. I asked an actual zagg person if they have any for the camera and they said no something along the lines of the flash reflecting off the plastic and into the camera. its believable..
If you think you are even remotely likely to drop your phone or accidentally have something rub up against it I would recommend you just get one. I have a ZAGG and it is great so far. I figure if you are going to be carrying around something so expensive that you may as well have it protected.
Screen protectors are relatively cheap. I've read enough stories of even GG phones getting scratched in pockets, that I prefer to be safe than have to fork out for a new screen or deal with scratches, Gorilla-glass or not.
I have a Clear-Coat on both mine and my wife's E3Ds. Works great, reduces fingerprints and smudges, and you don't even notice it's there.
What about those dual cameras on the back.....is there a scratchguard available for the back....

Anybody use the Zagg on a scratched screen?

I've got a scratch on my screen
I've read the Zagg will cover it. But I've found some other screen protectors that seem good too...anybody actually experience the Zagg fill in the scratch and hide it well like it claims?

I had about an inch long scratch that was very noticeable from my class ring, and i had a ghost armor screen put on and i can barely tell its there anymore.

I've found that overall the wet application screen protectors seem to work much better for the purpose of hiding imperfections than the dry application protectors. I personally use Zagg and install a lot of them for friends and family. They tend to make the scratches or swirl marks either not show at all or barely noticeable. I think part of it has to do with the light not reflecting off of the scratch like when it's exposed. I've only done the regular invisishield and clear screen protectors, never tried a matte finish anti glare screen protector and looked once it was dry to check for blemishes or imperfections that were visible before applying the screen protector.
*edit*
nevermind i'm retarded, and i read the OP wrong.
Check out Best Skins Ever.
i used to use zagg's but didn't care for the feel. ended up having to replace one twice when i had the thunderbolt. the other issue is depending on what case you use, it will cause the protector to peel up a bit on the edges.
i found the ghost armor screen protectors have a better feel & don't peel up as easily.
I use Skinobi.
Zero problems, zero complaints, and all of the minor scratches from my daughter are "gone" so to speak.

I can recommend xoskins. http://xoskins.com/htc-rezound-screen-protector
Fills small scratches, and not the same 'orange peel' effect as Zagg. It's also less tacky than other wet app protectors I've used. One key when installing is not to scrape to hard with the squeegee. This results in a smoother finish.
realook. feels like glass, and covers the entire glass surface, edge to edge. if you put it on properly without dust you can't tell it's there. everyone is shocked when i tell them there's a screen protector on there.

While I agree with your assessment of the Realook protector, I'm not sure that it would be a preferred application for an already scratched screen seeing as it's hard coated and "dry" application.
The screen-side of the Realook protector does have a somewhat softer adhesive, so it may work to help hide minor surface scratches.
Anyone with experience using these types of hard coated protectors over previously scratched/damaged glass?
Brian
I scratched my screen the day I got it, guess I wasn't safe enough and coming from two phones that had gorilla glass I never thought about it. Anyways I have a Realook Screen protector and I love it. Can't tell its there, feel's like glass, and resist scratches etc great. About your question though, I can still see my scratch clear as day It might be a little less noticeable but as soon as light hits the screen it shows its ugly face.
there's got to be a way to buff little scratches out before putting on a protector.
You should try xo skins

This one is not so little. I'm going to blame it on the cat.
But yeah I've said the same thing, There's got to be a way to minimize it at least.
The smartest idea I've read is to use something called "jewelers rouge" to buff it out. I'm still contemplating it.
And then if it doesn't work I'm going to smash the phone so I can get a new one cuz I have insurance. lol
I'm sooo damn careful with my phones it's sad and then this happens. Grrr.
Everybody has all these wonderful ideas but nobody ever shows pictures of how it turned out. lol

Are you familiar a little with buffing agents and polishes and things on metal and glass or jewelry? I was just wondering if you've used some before.
I'm thinking that with the right equipment it could work, I'm going to do some research and see what I find out, but at best it would be a gamble however we could use some old phones to practice and experiment on.
Now that I'm over the rush from shorting the main board I'm losing the one percenter BAMF feeling since so many people are doing it, so taking a "cutting and abrasive" solution to a crystral clear smooth glass sounds like fun

I like your thinking. Let me know what you find out. I don't have any junk phones to be practicing on. I do have a Dremel, and was wondering if using the polishing buff wheel with something would work. I did find one good tutorial...but he did the WHOLE phone. And it was really scratched. Mines just a 1/2 inch scratch but it's right on the top right corner where I always look at the time.
BRAND NEW PHONE. NONE of my other phones or tablets have ever been scratched. SOOO irritating.
I was kind of surprised to see no one answer you guys yet, so I searched and found it for you.

the post in quotes was posted on our forum a while back, it explains how to get rid of scratches on the rezound screen since our screens are the same composition as gorilla glass, just not actual corning gorilla glass.
They are made of aluminosilicate. Hence why this works.
Hope this helps

I have read that and actually was going to see if a friend of mine who does car body work had some of this laying around. However I see the comments on the dulling of the oleophobic coating? I think having a dull phone would be worse than having the scratch. But the original OP didn't mention that issue at all. Any thoughts?

Replacing plastic bezel around screen edge

Howdy,
I dropped my Note a couple times and it survived, but the small lip around the screen is no longer smooth. I think this is referred to as the bezel. My question is, is the plastic piece replaceable, or is it a screen part that is either fused or glued to the screen, making it not worth the effort to replace it? I checked a few sources and am still not sure. I may be selling the Note, and would probably fetch a better price if this piece is in better shape.

Let me preface by saying that I personally do not know the answer. With that said I have seen several mentions on here about the glass and bezel being one piece together. Ergo both have to be replaced at the same time.

I'm going with the one piece answer also.
I believe the glass and edging is one part....g
Is it this part called a face plate? Hard to tell from the pics. I'm assuming you mean the thin plastic slightly raised around the edge of the glass.
Sorry, it's for international...but maybe they have i717 parts.

Scratched camera lens.

Hello,
im not using my X with any case and recently saw that my back lens is really, reallly scratched. I cant understand why Sony did not use glass to protect it. Any idea how to remove this scratches?
http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/58db60c5c607c/IMG_20170329_092200739.jpg?
It's not glass? It feels like it.. weird, I thought all of the X series were with glass lens. I have no scrathes nor in the lens nor on the screen (actually in the screen there are 2 super small invisible scratches you can view only with a specific angle under bright sun, other than that, it's like new. Been using a flip case and now ordered screen protectors and a good TPU. You got your lens TERRIBLY f*cked up, how did you manage to do that? and the metal is scratched too, right? I suggest you get a TPU now to prevent more damage. I don't think you can fix it, and I don't recommend the toothpaste DIY "trick" since chances are it won't do anything and paste will get stuck in the gap between the lens. I do suggest you to find lens in ebay and replace them yourself, or if you haven't rooted and still have warranty ask what they can do about it in a local store. Can't be very expensive...
What did you do in the end? I had this phone for little over a week, and the camera is full of scratches.
Did you contact Sony? Did they repaired the phone? Or have you removed the scratched layer with alcohol/toothpaste?
I've owned many, many phones over the years, some with a plastic lens. This is the first time I've seen my camera so scratched.
Just by looking at the pic, I'm pretty sure the protective plastic camera has not been removed yet..
This is old people, and I highly doubt OP will reply. Whoever says their lens are getting scratches either didn't remove the plastic cover or you are doing something VERY wrong. Phones aren't meant to be placed on rocks or something. Other than that, I have not idea how you scratch it and it looks like glass to me. The X series phones after the z5 were all upgraded with glass lens.

There's no protective plastic on my lens, and it scratches with jeans denim, I've tested it. I own phones with actual plastic lenses, and they do not scratched by fabric. My guess is there are some units where the antiglare layer on the camera lens have some kind of defect.
Before the "you're using it wrong" argument: no. My phone is in pristine condition, it does not have any marks of use anywhere but the camera. It was never near any rough surface. My 2.5 years old Moto E2 plastic camera lens is in a much better condition.

LG glass

Has anyone noticed that the glass on the back is very sensitive and scratches easily? Also my sister threw my keys to me about 10 feet away and it cracked the phone ??. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this fragile glass. Honestly disappointed that the glass scratches easily. I've had a Note 5 for 2 years and the glass isn't scratched yet..
Nope, mine is in ultra slim Spigen hard case, dropped phone from shoulder height onto concrete and case got a small crack in corner but phone still 100% so I'm happy with robustness of G6

I've dropped mine on a granite surface plate at work which is about head height to my knees with no issues. I'm only using a Slickwraps skin.

The back of the phone is Gorilla Glass 5, and the front is Gorilla Glass 3. It should not scratch easily or be fragile.
I use Poetic Rugged case. Have dropped my phonw from shower shelf many times and nothing has happened.

The higher version of gorilla Glass the more prone to scratching it is but less likely to shatter. That's why they used 3 on the front and 5 in the back

I was taking pictures of a situation at my job and it was fine. I put it in my sweat pants pocket which had nothing else in it. I went to take a closer shot and the was this white how in the corner of the picture. I turned my phone around and surprise it was cracked. I didn't drop it yet I've stopped it Kenny times before. I have a nice case and screen protector. There was no mishandling of my phone. I don't do anything excessive. My pants weren't tight. It cracking is unexplainable

Man that sucks. The only thing that makes sense to me of why that glass is breaking on certain phones is the outer ring surrounding the glass might be such a tight fit that it's under tension. Then randomly it just gives. Have you spoken to any customer support yet?

The hard thing is physical damage is really difficult to prove it's a manufacturer issue. Wouldn't hurt to call him and point them in the direction of the multiple complaints that already exists
I too noticed the glass on the back was getting scrached by having a case on!#. It was stupid. Good thing my girlfriend owns a cellphone repair kiosk and installed the pahnthon clear skin on it.
