Hi,
I have issue on my 23ultra that Prime video keep loosing widevine L1 and go to L3 crap 480p. Every morning i need to restart the phone to have L1 1080p video. I tried reinstall the app, my device is setup from scratch no apps was restored form my old s10+. I never experience this issue on previous phone. It keeps me crazy... Netflix and Disney+ always keep L1 1080p. Anyone have the same issue or any fix for that? Support form Prime video is useless...
I have that problem but with Netflix. What helps me rectify the issue is to uninstall Netflix, then restart then reinstall Netflix. That fixes it.... for awhile

Try putting the app in Secure Folder and check whether it still dropped to L3 intermittently.
Or you can just clear data from the app and you will have the l1 again.
This doesn't sound normal. Why would Samsung flagship not have L1? Isn't it hardware related? Why would it toggle back and forth?
Could you have some pirated software on the phone? Is it rooted? Malware?
Something doesn't smell right?

Unlocked stock, no pirated apps, not rooted. Don't think I have any malware. On reddit couple of ppl also have same issue as me. They see this also in netflix app. Only solution is to reboot the phone. DRM app shows that everything is OK and that I have L1 but Prime after 1 to 2 days see L3 and I need to reboot phone. Frustrating. My device is EUX.

That is really odd. I have never experienced such a thing from official stock Android from a device that was bought from an official source.
The only time I ever had issues with L1 widevine was from Chinese tablets like Teclast and Aldocube.
I don't live in Europe but I would contact Samsung support and see what is going on. Something isn't legit. I have been using Android devices for a long time and never heard of such a thing. As far as I know Widevine support is software license that is paid for by the manufacturer and tied to the hardware. I could certainly be wrong about that but unless you are using a hacked app from a third party app market generally used for hardware that isn't compatible like the above mentioned tablets it just doesn't make sense?
I am sorry for your experience and situation. I would be pretty upset if that happened to me on a device like the s23 ultra. Since it is not even half a year old you should be able to get Samsung to fix whatever is going on.
The other avenue would be to contact Amazon or Netflix customer support. Maybe there is an issue with the app in your area.
In any case it shouldn't be happening on this device.
Good luck!
Well i use apps only from Google play, no side loading. It is not only in Europe as some guys from other part of the world have this issue too. I will contact samsung but I already know the answer they will give me to contact with the app maker and app maker will tell to contact phone manufacturer... This issue is from begining and first thin i notice as I watch shows on prime while going to work by bus. Never ever have this with my old s10+. I even factory reset the device but still the same, other ppl also try that with no luck. My only hope will be that other ppl will adress that issue to samsung and they will patch it. 23u have more issues than it should for that price tag. For me it is only prime but other have same l3 issue on Netflix, disney+ etc.

I already contact the samsung members support but they just telling me to force stop the app
i did one thing that should completely not be related to the issue but i download app from play store called DRM info (that check the wideline level), than i rebooted my phone and this or April update fix my issue for this day. You can try that or not - i don't believe that app helps but who knows xD
I already download that app then reboot my phone and i can't update my phone because its already on the newest update. Yeah idk anymore man
me pasa lo mismo en un poco x3 pro, despues de reiniciar el telefono se soluciona por unos momentos, toca esperar parches o nueva actualizacion a ver si se corrije

Hi, i'm Brazilian and I bought my Prime on Best Buy on January. I use it on my school as my book but in April it started making me sad, first, its rear camera stopped working, then, virtually all the apps don't run well and when the wifi is switched on, all apps have an estrange graphic error (including my book, we open it on Adobe Content Viewer). I was thinking the mailed it to the warranty, but I don´t know if Asus would accept it and give me another Prime. It's totally original, stock ICS wthout root, and always had been on its case. Could anyone help me?

are those problems that you are having since the last firmware update? because since then i have had similar problems with adobe content viewer and apps and games not running lag in the browser... my camera still works though. sounds like you will need to return it for the camera issue.
im hoping that the next update will fix the other problems because my tablet was great till the last update, thats when it became disappointing

Actually, I have those problems since May, I think we got 2 or 3 updates after these. Yes, I need to send it to the warranty (USA), but I can't stay without it untill December and my biggest scary is that I maybe won´t have the warranty until it gets there

For water resistance is better the m4 aqua
And when the phone is overheating, you can put the phone in cold water hehe :silly: [emoji23]
It doesn't heat up to the point that is unbearable. But it does heat up. And don't dunk the phone inti water after it has heated. You risk cracking the screen.
Immediate contraction and expansion for glass substrate is bad.
Actually I need to know about the overheating issue Gone after the update?? Or at least normalized or reduced?? I am planning to buy this device so please let me know more about the device. Thanks in advance.
Which update do you mean? Well it does overheat, but it´s not bad and you mostly won´t feel it because it heats up in the NFC area just above the index finger while you hold it. Overally, it´s acceptable and you can warm your hands during the winter
don't buy

My advice is don't buy, I got the device from T-Mobile, and when playing any simple game it heats up and then it restart on it's own, after restarting i lose my installed apps and get only generic icons that some of them you can not remove unless you reset to factory default. I am planing to take it to service to check the issue, and I had the phone for only one month.

I recommend , heating as said by others is not much, device performance is very good, and with a software update to 5.1.1 or 6.0 will make it better , 5.0 is a bit buggy in comparison to the new versions (after all it was the first version of lollipop ) , but it's good .
Does turning off nfc solve the m4 aqua heating problem?
This guy says so.
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3dMHYiUYVVc
I've had it since release and ya she'll heat up... I used to have GSAM and it wasnt nothing for it to get upwards of 120° if say you were on fb then took some pictures and then played Clash of Clans...
Now I've since, very recently I might add got rid of a bunch of phone monitoring crap ie GSam, CCCleaner, Greenify, Cleanmaster as well as a few unused apps so all I have in that category is Better Battery Stats and let me tell you the phone runs smoother and alot cooler all the time!!!
There's a reason all these monitoring apps have to have special permissions and special side apps to allow them to work with the new version of Android.... Bc Android doesn't need them anymore! That's why they made it so hard to install those apps but those app creators won't let it go. So do yourself a favor and clean your phone up people, Android is optimized these days to take care of itself.
And yes buy the phone its the best phone I've ever had!

There is some owner of this tablet that can confirm if this tablet has widewine level 1 (using drm info app) and if it can play netflix in HD, and at which resolution playing test patterns on Netflix? It would be very useful
I have the pad (10.8") and a Netflix account. Point me to the correct test to play and I'll give you all the info you want. As far as I know, sadly, it won't play in HD. But do tell me what you want me to try.

This is pretty much unbelievable, considering they called the product Mediapad and Netflix comes preinstalled.

Actually... I went to test as requested. Tapped on Netflix icon (comes preinstalled). Got a message stating "you need to update the app". Tapped that. Went to Play Store and it says my device is not compatible with the app. If I search for Netflix on Play Store, the official app does not come up in results. Bootloader is unlocked but I'm not rooted.
I have no problems running Netflix and it does not say not compatible.
@gorman42 did you check whether your device still passes SafetyNet? Most likely Netflix is using SafetyNet to check whether the device was modified and then it's not installing.
Extremely disappointing as I really need to replace my Nexus 7 (2013) tablet which DOES support HD streaming... I've read supposedly that L1 support can be added via software update, but who knows if Huawei would ever be motivated enough. If you google around you can see people clamoring for L1 for various Huawei devices.

Yup, CTS profile match failed. Any fix? I have a regular NetFlix subscribtion, this is disappointing to say the least.
Just having the bootloader unlocked is enough to trigger this? Jeez...
It's kind of ironic, considering that once you have root you can then hide root, fix SafetyNet... I unlocked the bootloader as soon as I received it, as doing it requires formatting everything and I wanted to avoid that in the future (hoping for root).
@gorman42 No, I don't know how to fix but I had a similar problem with my current phone. After installing Magisk everything is fine now ...

No, not realy as you can install Magisk Manager (which doesn't need root permissions) and from there you can patch the boot image ...
But only theoretically speaking as I didn't test and as I am unsure that our device is supported yet. If something fails there's a risk for a bootloop and one would need to install at least a clean boot image. A bit risky without a further net of security. I'll need to inform myself a bit more about the Huawei devices and Kirin 960 ...
Also... isn't it strange for the app to come up as not compatible with the device just for the bootloader? I suspect the reason is not SafetyNet. I've seen apps refusing to run in the past, but never apps not being downloadable from Play Store. Am I wrong?

Absolutely, it's f*cking ridiculous, i won't buy this tablet for this reason. The only recent tablets in the official netflix HD devices list, are the galaxy tab S2 and S3, i'm thinking of buying an S2, but I hate the fact that it's 2 years old and with 3gb ram.

I debated with myself for long hours. I've just activated the return procedure on Amazon. I don't think it's correct to justify this unacceptable decision with my hard earned money.
So long Mediapad M5. Maybe next time don't advertise (and name) something as a media tablet with HD screen if you intend to cripple it to SD resolutions for video streaming.
Can this be solved through an update by Huawei? Or it is a problem that will remain in time.It makes me doubt a lot to buying it
I had my tablet reset and installed from scratch yesterday. It restored my apps from my google account and both Netflix and Amazon Prime were installed.
Weird: Netflix was installed, but once I click on it, it says that it's incompatible with this version, please Update. I can't update, because it doesn't even turn up in the play store. Amazon Prime Video starts, shows available content in HD, a movie plays, but only audio, no video, just a black screen. DRM info said that it's L1 security, so everything should work in terms of DRM.
However, PlayStore says that the device is Uncertified. Disabling, clearing data and cache didn't make a change.
System Software is up to date and I have no idea where to start looking.
Just to make sure that this is not the culprit, I made a full reset of the device AND relocked the bootloader, so this should be a device like factory new.
Yet, PlayStore uncertified, no Netflix, black picture in Amazon Prime HD. I am really tempted to just throw this device out of the window.

Never assume relocking bootloader makes it stock.
Efuses and DRM keysxare common, and once they are blown/wiped, it's game over, you will never return to stock

The fact that you've unlocked, relocked but Playstore says uncertified and you're having these problems?
Don't have a go at someone trying to help you out, fella. CrazyPeter is only suggesting the possibility that once you're unlocked, that's it: it's highly possible that "re-locking" doesn't undo something that's used by apps to detect non-stock. It's not for him to prove that's true, he's only trying to help. You should have done your own research before unlocking.
I'd been through this before too. If you unlocked bootloader, your tablet will fail safetynet test. Playstore wouldn't let you install or update netflix.
I tried relock bootloader and it passed safetynet, Netflix will come up in Playstore and allowed to install. It worked fine with HD streaming. You have to make sure to start from scratch and don't restore from backup after relock bootloader (which factory reset your device anyway)
I went with supposedly best solution, unlocked bootloader , stay with stock recovery and just fastboot patched ramdisk for magisk installation. In the end magisk would make your device pass safetynet and can install netflix and works fine. Also you can recieve an OTA update, and can always patch magisk again on new build.
Don't know about primevideo since I don't use t.

This is the solution I followed when I initially unlocked my bootloader.
Hulu, Amazon Prime and Netflix all work.
whih device was this on?
a US device (WIFI only?) or an international/Chinese device with LTE/4G?
I am about to purchase a Chinese version in order to get LTE and I am wondering whether I will be unable to download and watch netflix?
I got my CMR-W09 (wifi) tablet today and I can confirm it plays Amazon Prime and Vudu in HD. I don't have an account with Netflix so I could not check it. The Vudu app shows that some of my movies in my wishlist are in UHD (4K). I did not check being I would have to pay for them.
Seems so bizarre to me that Google, Netflix, Amazon, etc., would be encouraging piracy by banning their paying customers from using the service. I'm honestly at a loss for words.
I had this issue on my Note 3, which can't pass SafetyNet as it's under my control, not Google's. When Netflix started requiring SafetyNet, I emailed for a confirmation. That was the end of our 9 year business relationship; I am no longer a customer.
I subscribed to YouTube Red, as (ironically) they still seem to value their engineering customers. However, should they follow suit, that business relationship will end as well, and I'll find someone else to spend my money with.
I know it can be tough, but I do encourage everyone affected by DRM to cancel their subscriptions, and take their business elsewhere.
If you do, just make sure you contact the company's Sales / Marketing team (definitely not tech support!). Explain to them in very clear, polite terms exactly why you'll be switching to their competitor, and that you'll be back if they ever decide to correct the situation.
I'm also completely stock (never been rooted etc) and exact same issues with Amazon Video.
Only thing that might cause issues is my ad blocker (Adclear), but having uninstalled that I have the same issue.
I'd be keen to know if you resolve as Google searches don't throw up much, and unfortunately the thread I started hasn't produced any solutions either!
So..... I was on the phone to Amazon support and was playing with my settings....
I use a "corner round" app to make the tablet screen more visually appealing - as soon as I disable it, Prime Video works!
So, if you have anything that creates a screen overlay, try disabling it and using Netflix / Prime video. Give it a try!
Best,
You guys know that huawei already made the update through OTA that netflix can run HD and prime video as well right?
is there any method to root this device?
The device just came out. There is no root yet
at least you are smart enough to look here first. i've looked around on the internet and there is some ass hat who has tried to convince people to use ODIN to root their devices and got his friends to say yes this worked in the comments. so many people having troubles and the guy is pretending to "help" in the comments. for people who haven't fully bricked their device to ensure that they have. i mean i guess if you are dumb enough to think a device has a working hack a week after it came out then you are doing it to yourself
i'm sure with enough know how they can fix their phones but as it is they are stuck in a boot loop
lesson to the story: always check with a reputable source before you do something which can potentially soft-brick your multi-hundred/thousand/ and in some instances multi-thousand dollar device

You don't need root to use gcam. All the recent gcam development has been on the rootless variants. As for roms, there aren't any available yet, but now that these are starting to get into more people's hands it's only a matter of time.

one problem i found after rooting is all HD videos were no longer processed proppeerly (broke netflix and amazon prime video would not allow hardware accelerated video) meaning hd was no good aparently.
