Knox on Samsung Galaxy A02s - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello.
I've got an Samsung Galaxy A02s phone, which previously been Knox locked by service provider.
Fortunatelly for me, I was lucky enough to open settings and remove Knox app.
Now I can use this phone like it never been locked, except didn't tried to factory reset it.
My question is, after factory reset will Knox be active again? If so, is it gonna lock phone again?
Is it possible to flash this phone with Android that is Knox-free.?

To do it , in first download your system phone and flash it with Magisk and save it in a PC and install odin (on ur pc) and install you patched firmware with Odin.

Do I have to modify the system downloaded from my phone?
If so, how to modify it properly?

Download your firmware, unzip it and flash the AP file with Magisk app and save the New AP file patched with magisk in tour PC. After put your Phone in download mod and install new AP patched in ap slot on Odin.

Could any of you provide instructions how to remove Knox with Magisk step by step?
Never used that software and I'm kind of afraid of doing something wrong, that could cause bricking my phone.

[Q] Updating after root

I needed to replace the original Email.apk & Exchange2.apk with an XDA-version ( Exchange Security Bypass ) since i don't want the exchange server to lock down my entire phone so i rooted my Alpha. In addition i removed S-health and some other apps i don't want on my phone. Of cource, now the built in update-function from Samsung won't work and when Lollipop is pushed out i'll be left out
So my questions are:
1. Can i unroot my phone and get updates through Samsung even though i replaced/deleted some apps?
2. I presume i needed root only to install/replace the email-app, if i unroot my phone, will the replaced app still work?
3. After what i've done, can i restore the original firmware somehow and get my "update priviliges" back?
You can get the stock firmware and flash it (using kies or odin/heimdall & sammymobile)
Cool, thanx!
Which flashing tool would you recommend?

Triangle Away does not work with the Alpha (yet?) and a modified ROM is spotted by Knox and will not update.
No doubt when Samsung release a Lolipop firmware it will be available to download from the usual places and flash with TWRP or Odin.

1. you can unroot but i doubt that automatic updates will work. the OTA will not work in a custom rom. as long as you have official/stock rom installed (by odin or other methods), OTA will work.
2.as soon as you flash a stock rom/firmware, all the apps and bloatware will be back.
3.yes you can flash an official/stock firmware via Odin or other methods. you can check updates on www.sammobile.com/firmwares

an unrooted stock rom will not be marked as custom regardless the Knox counter. i had S4Mini previously and i only had to flash stock rom and OTA will work (although i never used it. i like to chose which firmware is best and available through the above menioned source. knowing that OTA will work on stock rom, i don't think triangle away is important unless you want to sell the device and cover the tracks that you've tried unofficial firmwares

well, that's the difference. now Knox counter disables warranty but other functions are kept. i think that's why we don't see new versions of TriangleAway app

Noob2TheExtreme Note Edge SM-N915W8 has no operating system

So earlier today I had some time on my hands and decided to try and root my Rogers Note Edge phone. I failed miserably and now my phone does not seem to have an operating system and continuously restarts. I tried to restore it back to its factory settings, via Odin and Factory but with no success. Can anyone help me?
Not without more details.
What build number of the software were you on?
Which method to root did you use?
What else did you do to it (just rooting should not remove the operating system)?
What build number of the software did you try to reload with Odin?
Did the Odin flash work or did it fail with an error of some type?
i used everything in this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-edge/general/easy-steps-stock-odin-n915tuvu1anjl-sm-t2943993
-Odin3 v3.07
-twrp v2.8.6
odin failed and then passed twrp, on reboot my phone died. once charged it kept rebooting over and over. I can still get into download and recovery mode again but now twrp says i have no os and I also noticed while it charges it says "kernel is not seandroid enforcing", "set warranty bit:kernel"
You said that you used everything in that guide, but you made no mention of trying to load a rom. That's the next step... If you have no OS, you've got 2 choices. A rom or reload stock firmware via Odin.
Thanks for the support. I made it back to my stock os through smart switch, finally! But Im no longer rooted and Knox is still 0x1. I plan on trying again, should i use the same guide? Just wondering because it seems more based for American carriers , and I'm in Canada.
That guide is for Tmobile version, not yours. That's why it wasn't working right. I'm not aware of a method to reset the Knox counter. You can just install TWRP and use that to install SuperSU from Chainfire for root access.
Well if I can get root tonight I'll let ya know if triangleaway works for Knox reset. Had it recommended from a friend, guess you can get it off the play store.

Rooted then returned to stock still rooted

I rooted my SM-T820 using Ashyx guide, but decided to return to stock. I downloaded the stock Rom from Sammobile and loaded it with Odin (AP, BL, CSC). It says its back to stock (no boot messages and it shows stock in download menu). But it won't let me use Samsung Pass as it says it's rooted. Root checker apps say it isn't. It only appears to be a problem with Samsung Pass.
Any ideas?

There is a nasty little feature called KNOX which causes this problem. AS SOON as you flash anything custom, KNOX will get triggered (it shows 0x1 in Download Mode). After that, WHATEVER you do, it will not recover. All the KNOX protected apps, Secure Folder and Samsung Pay are notable examples, will completely stop working. There are methods to spoof and make Secure Folder work, but Samsung Pass I have no idea...
hit thanks if it helped, means a lot to me

Can I root my S9 plus without installing TWRP recovery ?

I have a Smasung S9 Plus SM-g965F with Exynos on android 10, I would need to get root but I would like to avoid to install TWRP recovery, can I do it with the stock recovery?

you can't use stock recovery you will need twrp
If you want to install magisk without twrp use the patch method
I have tried kingroot with no success it get stuck at 1%.
If I use magisk by patching the stock rom, then when an official samsung update comes out I can do it automatically as always?
By the way how can I check if the bootloader of my phone is unlocked ?

In develop section check to see if unlock option is there.
Download mode will tell you OEM state as well as KG/RMM state
If you modify your phone you won't get updates. Have to do manually.
Be aware rooting you phone will trip your knox. Won't be able to use knox related functions like secure folder, samsung pass, shealth etc.

ACtually I need root to try to recover some files on the internal memory with some data recovery programs...after that I don't need root anymore so maybe I could go back to full stock?

Once your modified phone knox will be tripped even when flash firmware again. There is no fix for a tripped knox.
If trying to recover lost files then using the patched method with magisk is a better option then using twrp.
I don't have much experience with recovering lost files as i have not had the need for it but i would try some non root methods first before rooting.
If you decide to root your phone you can unroot by magisk or flashing stock firmware.
Always backup your phone before doing anything.
Sadly all these program (one of the most famous is Dr. Fone) that go scanning the memory for deleted files need the privileges of root so I think that without rooting the phone it's not possible to do it anyway if I would lost the knox securty by rooting I'm not that happy too
"You may try looking into Extreme Syndicate root. It's used on the Snapdragon variants to root with a locked bootloader, so it doesn't trip Knox. I don't know if it will work on Exynos, but worth a look."
Editing doesn't work right on my phone. This won't work.

Can an app install ROM in my phone by itself?

I dont know this is right place to ask.. but i have no expert to ask this..
I think hacking app was installed in my phone. i clicked an app that i dont know in phone and a message showed up from that app . so i click that message and right away my phone was turned off and then started rebooting.
And when i get my phone back, everything was reset just like a factory reset.
I am pretty scared worrying my phone was hacked. And i want to know the app just did factory reset or installed RoM.
Cause i never rooted my phone, but my phone turned out to be rooted.. (knox warranty is broken) The app rooted my phone.
Btw my phone was samsung galaxy note4 and the bootloader was unlocked in the first place. (Like the other old samsung phones)
Can an app do this(reset and install rom together) by just one-click?
I heard installing rom can be done without connecting to computer.
Please would you give me an answer..?
I am so worrying..

If the app has root access and the bootloader is unlocked...Potentially. The TWRP app does this - the user can select firmware to flash, and when the device reboots to TWRP, that firmware is then flashed.
Rootkit exploits typically don't last very long in Android. The best way to prevent this is 1) perform a clean install of the latest factory firmware, 2) lock your bootloader, and 3) only install trusted apps.

Without su permissions (root), an app cannot change anything other than its own data.
Even if a custom recovery is installed, an app would still require root to instruct TWRP to flash something.
If your bootloader IS unlocked and your phone IS rooted, any untrusted app can be malicious on your device.
They do not need TWRP to reset your device or flash a new ROM.
All they need is a bootloader unlocked device that is providing root privileges.
