Question Apps to schedule off and on - Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

Since One UI 5.0, the feature "Schedule Restart" had been removed. Is there a schedule restart app that works in Samsung S23 Ultra phone and does not requires the phone to be rooted? Tried "Refresh - Auto Reboot, No Root" app and seems complicated to setup and couldn't get it to work.

Yes I have enable this but is kind of useless. A proper Schedule Restart app will be good. Don't know why Samsung removed this feature with the new One UI 5.0.

Why do you need to restart it anyway?

Actually not much on restart, I want the phone to be schedule shutdown at for example 1am and power on at 7am which I been using the schedule off and on for my previous Mate and Xiaomi phones that came with this feature.
Edit: Change my thread title to "Apps to schedule off and on"

why you need to shut it off?
just use Do Not Disturb mode

The question is not that, the good thing would be to be able to turn it on or off at the scheduled time for whatever reason, but as far as I know in the Samsung now you can not

I don't see the sense in having the phone start up: unless there is no security setting - which is not sensible - the phone actually won't start up until the phone is unlocked by the user...
Settings for planned periods in do not disturb -, or Airplane mode, should serve most needs.

The automatic start is fine if you have programmed an alarm and leave the phone off, it will start and without having entered the credentials the alarm will sound.

I don't see why they wouldn't...it is the same Android Wear isn't it? (aside from a few extra apps here and there)
Working on a app uninstaller too. I know this isn't supposed to be a standalone device and this stuff will probably only be in the rom I am working on. It's all new to be but I'm enjoying messing with it. ?
I think wear does need an uninstaller. Some wear apps dont show in the launcher of your phone, only in the apps list on play (where they can get buried easily) or worse on the apps tab on the phones settings menu.
As it stands if you have a problem with your phone you cant do anything with a Wear device. So if that app is malware, or otherwise borks your phone and/or watch, tough.

I'm not sure if you're taking requests/ideas, but I know myself and several others would like to disable the gesture wake feature. How hard would that be to implement?

Exactly! I have not driven with it at night but I imagine it would be annoying since every time i look at it, it's always on.

Yes! It will be great a "night" mode. I sleep with the watch, and I want that:
- the screen must be off
- it must change to on (but dimmed) with a touch, double touch or something similar, but not with the movement of my arm
- it must be easy to activate/deactivate this "night" mode
It will be a very useful utility!
And now I'm playing

[Q] Does your Nexus 9 detect Ok Google hotword when screen is off?

I have heard that Nexus 9 comes with Always listening mode, but I can't seem to get it working.

Mine works... App Drawer / Google Settings (not settings) / Search & Now / Voice / "OK Google" Detection / check all 3 tabs.. How did u not find this?? haha
All three options are checked, but hotword detection only works when I press the power button, not when the screen is off.

Is your device rooted?
When I update and rooted my Nexus 9 for the first time, somehow, it kept the old kernel, not the "Q" one. And had some issues like lag, adaptive brightness and inability to use "listening mode".
I installed and rooted again and everything was solved, including the listening mode.

Are you using English as primary language?
An app conflicting with Google voice?
Check everything again. Maybe you are missing something.

I tried a factory reset and it seems to be working now although it's a little inconsistent. It stops detecting when the tablet is not used for some time but a reboot fixes that.
Glad it worked.

My first Nexus 9 didnt work, but my second one which immediately updated to the newest version did work.
Inconsisten behavior here too. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. After a reboot everything seems to work just fine, but then it starts to fail here and there. Not smooth, anyway.
Inconsistent behavior with screen off. I'm on the latest R release (fresh factory image install).
mine did today, in a carry bag, while is was using the n7 while driving. this is why I want a customizable hot word I can set per device. how hard can that be.
Sent from my Nexus 9 using Tapatalk
Any new suggestions on this?
I am on 5.0.1 and "OK Google" works from locked some time after a reboot, but then it stops working and is only working when on a home screen and screen on.
Does this work properly and consistantly all the time for anyone?

Did you also check in device care: battery, uncheck power saving mode
click background usage limits
add whatsapp to never sleeping apps.
Theres nothing else I did to get whatsapp to stay running.
Maybe reinstalling whatsapp might help. I've seen oddities fixed by that OR clearing data (which also resets the app to new).

Run backup to Google drive in WhatsApp and reinstall. I've seen bugs like that and modern software sucks so badly you'll never know why. Example Turbo tax 2020 is the current piece of crap that they know has an issue with windows 10 that they haven't fixed yet.

Question Driving App starting whenever I enable Bluetooth

Hi Guys,
I had no problem until recently, I have this issue that whenever I enable Bluetooth on my Pixel 6 the Driving app kicks in automatically. I don't have any bt devices connected nor I recall touching any settings to have that enabled.
Does anyone know how to disable this?

That is a good advice
You know what? I had no such item in the menu before I searched for it, but after disabling all automation it still launches Driving app
Hmmm. Weird, mine stopped doing that. Maybe, it's Bluetooth triggerd or, alternatively, by something running in the background, for example, Waze?

Found the culprit - it was an internet radio app which was forcing that behavior. That's a bit crazy because I had not granted any permissions to that app, yet it triggered another mode
Go to setting>search "android system" on the search bar > select "android system" saying " app info " at the bottom" > select "notification" under android system > make it unchecked the " car mode"> now it is done.

Just replying here since I have the same problem and wanted to say DO NOT DO THIS!
I made this mistake a day or two ago. The problem is driving mode is still enabled even if the notification is gone, which disables tap to wake and the screen timeout stuff. The only way to fix it is to hit the notification to close whatever app it is or find the app (which I've been this far unsuccessful in doing.)
Found the app that keeps turning on CarMode.
Here is how, you need install adb and turn on develop mode.
Turn off bluetooth and driving mode
adb logcat|grep -i handleCarModeChange
When driving mode appears, click notification to disable it.
You will see
Telecom : InCallController: handleCarModeChange: packageName=com.radiolight.japon, priority=0, isCarMode=true: [email protected]
Telecom : InCallController: handleCarModeChange: not a valid InCallService; packageName=com.radiolight.japon: [email protected]

For me, uninstall com.radiolight.japon (Radioworld FM) fixed everything.

Question Apps being aggressively closed following June update!

Hi folks,
I'm wondering if anyone has a solution to this: Immediately following applying the June update, I noticed certain apps (crucially, Angry Birds2) were being closed in the background as soon as I switch to other apps. Previously, I could have AB2 open, go do other things on the phone, come back half an hour, and AB2 would still be open. Now, even brief switches to other apps results in it being closed.
Figuring it had been switched to a higher level of battery optimization, I checked the AB2 app and made sure it was still Unrestricted (it is).
Battery Saver is off.
Adaptive Battery is on, but it was before the update too.
What other settings do I need to monkey with to fix this?
Thanks in advance!
Developer options>standby apps, check bucket state of app. It should be active.
If that's the case disable all global power management. If disabled all buckets show as active and their state can't be altered.
Google global power management never worked right. Turn all that junk off.
Deal with power hogs on a case by case basis instead. In settings individual apps can be set to not run in background without invoking global power management.

For AB2 it shows "exempted" and is grayed out. What does that mean? Meanwhile I'm turning off Adaptive power. Anything else I need to turn off, while I'm at it?

Exempted? More like KIA Erratic behavior is typically what it causes on my Samsung's.
In power management the only thing I enable would be fast charging if you want that.
Not familiar with Pixel settings but they are similar as it's a Google Android based subsystem.

Sadly all similar settings are now turned off and the phone has been rebooted. AB2 still closes nearly instantly when I switch to another app. Sigh.

Try clearing app cache.
More drastically delete data or reinstall it.
It may be the app itself is no longer compatible now and needs an update.
On a Samsung my first choice would be to clear the system cache found on the boot menu. I've been told Pixel's don't have this option.
Personally I avoid all OTA updates as they can and do break things. Pie and above are fairly secure if you don't do stupid things.
