Hello.
I hope a member of the XDA developers forum will be able to help me out again.
The reception of incomming calls at my XDA1 with an orange card is very poor. Sometime I can't hear the other side and/or they can hardly hear me.
It works better with other phones.I am located closed to Heathrow airport in the UK.
The indicator for the phone reception shows max. 1 bar, sometimes none at all.
any advice how to improve this?
many thanks in advance
andreas
What ROM and Radio Stack are you currently running?
Maybe time for some updates!
change to a better network lol
na you on ppc2002 or 2003 because 2002 is crap for signal but 2003 is alot nicer with v4,21 radio installed
Help folks,
I currrently own an XDA2 which is all great. I live in an area not brilliant for 02 network but generally I get enough of a signal to talk to people. The problem is that my XDA2 has the worst signal ever and no-one can contact me 90% of the time. When I do a soft reset it seems to pick up 1-2 bars of signal for a while (during which I can retrieve my missed calls) but that will vanish after about 10-15 mins. It just doesn't seem to pick up the siganl as good as my old (Dare I say it) Nokia 3310. I am required by work to be contactable all of the time and it is getting very frustrating and unless I solve it soon i may be looking at my P45 or a Nokia 3310!!
Battle that out with o2 NOT your XDA
Thomo, are you using the latest radio stack/rom.
Yes mate, I am using the official one from O2, I spoke to them and they couldn't work it out. They have even tried sending me a new phone. I am curious as it may be a fault with the phones in poor network areas, is anyone else experiencing this sort of thing? Am i having to resort to 3310
I have the same problem. O2 reception has never been great for me irrespective of the phone in use. Some are better than others though, and my XDA II is one of the not so good ones (along with my Nokia 8850). My daughter's 7210 is terrible too.
O2 boasts the UK's best network coverage, so my theory is that it is to do with the band - and that O2 and Vodafone just cannot deal with buildings very well.
I am going to move to Orange! If I don't, my frustration with O2 reception will probably lead to me throwing my XDA up the wall!! - and I certainly don't want to do that
So, there have been reports from a few users (including myself) on a swedish android forum that they are experiencing really poor sound when calling over 3G, while calls using "GSM only" are clearer and sound "richer". Anyone else experiencing this?
Feel free to make a test call, turn off 3G and try again. And then post your results here.

This is the first phone I've had (at least in recent memory) where someone asked me what I was talking on because it sounded terrible. I tried setting to gsm only but it's not any better. I left myself test voice messages and I would best describe it as sounding muffled.
maybe its you guys network/area that causing problems. Havent had this issue with ATT in florida or georgia.
Yes, I'd love the 2 original posters to say what networks they are on....hopefully that is the cause. This doesn't seem to be too widespread.
Orange in France. I don't now how other people hear me but their voice definitely sounds muffled. It was much better with my Nexus One or my 30$ motorola F3.
Wow, I have the opposite. People actually have, without prompting, asked me if I was calling from a landline because my voice was so clear. Between the G2, G2X, and SGS2 the Galaxy performs best (for me) as a phone.

I'm om the swedish carrier Telia. On the other forum, people have reported the same issue with Tele2. However, I doubt it's a network issue, since Sweden has a rather stellar mobile network, both speed- and coverage-wise. Especially compared with the U.S. ;-)
Also, I haven't been able to reproduce this with my 3GS.
Judging from the posts here, though, it seems like a Europe only issue at the moment, right?

No, its the phone. I tested it in the shop in Amsterdam with Tele2 (T-Mobile) and KPN SIMs calling back to a fixed line. In each case the calls were noticeably muffled.
The GSM call quality on the i9000 was not very good, but passable. In my opinion the i9100 call quality is poor, especially compared to the i9000. My 45 Euro Nokia phone has far clearer sound.
I think people have to bear in mind, that these types of phone are not designed with call quality in mind. These are computers with a voice calls as a bolt on. I know that we don't think that this should be the case, but sadly it is. If you want to talk then I suggest Nokia.
However, I shall still buy the i9100 as its a great phone other than call quality. I hope that this will be addressed by the time I buy one.
same here in austria with my sgs2 from 3AT.
there is always a background noise when calling with 3g, on gsm it isn't
Hello everyone, I wonder if you could help me with some roms.
I Wind but also trying other operators have no signal is almost always indoors and out. Can you help? thanks
English only!
You have don't exceed with SRS WOW HD parameters if you have installed.
I had the same problem.
However TG01 receive parts is horrible with edge and gsm. With 3g is better but don't much .
Regards.
Hey guys, I could use some help over here: My problem is, that the quality of speak during calls is a catastrophy. Most of the time I can't unterstand my partner. While in austria (or any other EU-country I've been since) there is no problem with calls. In germany, where I am the most of the time, I'm not able to receive or make calls because of the bad quality. What could this be related to? When I switch the SIMcard to another phone, voice calls are no problem.
Some Infos: My provider(Otelo) offers LTE but doesn't offer VoLTE. I'm running the Mi A1 with Android 8.1. 4G internet works fine.
Maybe some of you can give me some tips how to solve this problem.
Best regards
Flippo
Update: The problem only occurs when the phone drops down to 2G for calling( my provider offers a very poor 3G network, so nearly Everytime). When there is 3G available, call quality is absolutely clear.
