Need MPEGs, games and ringtones - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

I recently bought a 32mb XDA, and I am desperately wanting to find mpeg's to play in Windows Media Player, games to to play and ringtones to download, however so far I have had no luck finding websites that can facilitate this.
I have installed active-sync on my PC, however I am unable to swop mpegs from Windows Media Player on my PC > WMP on my XDA. Any ideas, please help as this is getting very fustrating!
Cheers
Andy

I did find some clips somewhere last year. Pocket DivX format, I think... so try divX.com or something to that effect.
I haven't found any ring tones on the net either. But have used the wav files from installed games. eg strip poker asks you "make your choice" or "what would you like to do" in a very sexy voice. Sounds neat !!!!
try here:
http://www.pocketthemes.com/
for today screens. quite an easy site to navigate. Best of all they're all free!!!
Martin

I found this website that has a few ringtones on it:
http://www.yorch.net/
I'd like to know of some more though!!

cheers for those...I have downloads loads of ringtone and themes!
Any more though!

HELP

hello all i got my phone today.
How can i put my own ringtones on it.
I am not sure of the file types i need or anything. I dont even know where to go to select what tone i want. please help
if you want to use ringtones for specific contacts (e.g. a sound will play and when you hear it you'll know it's from your friend joe) then you'll need third party software such as ringtonex (mtux). ain't free though; i forgot how much i paid for it but i've been using the app back when i started with my xda1. still using it up to now. like the ringtone i use for my boss is the pacman sound when he dies...
for ringtone types; wav files are the ones you need...however you can also use midi and wma if i remember. if your unit is on activesync with your pc; simply copy and paste the wav file you want into the xda's windows folder. this will allow the ringtone to be used by other apps such as alarms or sms notification. or you can also paste it in the window's "rings" folder where the phone will automatically recognize the file as being a ring tone option. then just go to settings for the phone and click on that file you want to use.
hope that helps.
thanx a million worked like a charm
hey its not finding wma files though
i read somewhere in the forum that you can use wma files as ringtones...just don't know how to do them and never really tried. not sure about this but most wma files i know are associated with mp3s as well. wma is a lower quality sound alternative to mp3s; i have wma files for songs and they range from 800-900kb as oposed to 3+ meg mp3 song files. so the way i see it (and i could be wrong about this) to use a wma file the xda would have to be able to get it from the memory or the storage card (?). but that would mean having a wma ring tone which is around 900kb in size...something that you don't really need coz eventually you will answer the phone after like 10 seconds. so no point in having the whole song as a ringtone really since you won't get to hear it to the end. that is if the other chaps in the forum are doing something different that is wayyyy easier than i really think it is
what i did was record bits of a song i have on storage; then use that as my ringtone. example; i have an mp3 of fernanda porto and i like the opening sequence. what i did was use my notes app; ran the song through media player and when the part i liked came i then recorded it. the file is in wav so it was easy to use it as a ringtone....
cheers
it need to be 2003 before it can use wma
they need to be put in windows\rings
you then add them with the program called add ringtones
in settings
ahh i dont have 2003, i was told 2003 is better not to have cause it messes up alot or something i dunno.

watch movies on XDA1 ?

Hi
Sorry to sound thick, but can anyone tell me if I can download movies onto SDs card, and watch them on my XDA1 windows media player ?
I have tried a mpeg & avi, they play on my desktop but not on my xda
thanks in advance for any help
steve
http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/about
or
make your movies into freaky special ms formats like wmv or something to make media player play them
Hi there.
WMV for PPC is not that good. Why don't you try this one:
http://divx.ppccool.com/ -- The very easy to use Encoder for all kinds of formats.
http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/download -- The Code Pocket Media Player wich is fast enough to play high quality movies with high quality Sound. I was really impressed by both of these tools!
Have Fun,
Timo
EDIT, ah I'm sorry. Rudegar allready told you about the player... But use the encoder. Nothing is more intuitive than that
Hi Mcnugget
Thanks for your reply, but what do I do next...sorry im a bit thick
steve
normaly exe files are have to be run in windows and they autoinstall the pda program to the pda next time you sync
cab files are run on the pda where they autoinstall
both paths should result in an icon in programs which start the program
then you choose files and browse to where your movie is
then you click on the movie file and it plays

games/ringtones

Can anyone suggest a good website where i can pick up some new ringtones or games for my hermes? Thanks.
looks like you need to search on this fine forum to seek what you need.
Here's a past games thread you can check out...enjoy:

be careful signing up for ringtones.........my daughter is getting spammed pretty heavily after signing up for ringtones.
any audio file will work as ring tone even your singing into a mic on your pc or pda
a wav or mp3 from a game a song .....

If you ever heard me sing............you would wonder why anything or anyone would allow me to create a recording that surely would hurt people everytime my phone rang.
well it would give you a taste of your own medicine
audacity is a really good program for chopping up existing mp3s and you can export them as low bitrate ringtones and they sound just as good as the real song.
just google audacity.

[Q] Unlimtones for windows mobile??

I bumped into a free iphone application called unlimtones.
This app lets u search for any artist or song u like and lists alot of songs with different remixes from its database
It provides preview, so u can listen to it and download it directly to the ringtone list if u wish to have it.
A really awesome app, i wonder if there's a similar app for our beloved HD2 or for windows mobile 6.5 in general which handles ringtones??
If it's actually out there where can we download it?
Midomi.
Free on Omarket.
i already have midomi, it recognizes the songs played but doesn't manually search for songs nor does it download the songs
Found a close one
I found this app, called Scilor's groovemobile v13
It only retrieves songs to listen to and be added to playlists for later playing, but doesn't save it as mp3s to be used for ringtones like the app i'm talking about in this thread.
http://www.scilor.com/groovemobile.html
Found a downloader!!
I found a downloader for songs!! Scilor's groovedownloaderwm
http://www.scilor.com/groovedownloaderwm.html
Enjoy
NanoGroove
NanoGroove (its not free, but cheap , you can search for Artist, songs, ...
and it download the songs on your mobile
I definitely recommend Scilor's Groove Downloader WM! It can fast download any song in realy good quality and doing this very fast.
Look for it here on XDA in GrooveDownloaderWM thread. In one from last posts i posted CABbed version.
Try it's very good app!
Go to www.myxer.com. You can download ringtones for money of for free, but best of all, you can upload any song you have in your computer and trim any portion of it to create a ringtone. Your new ringtone can be sent directly to your phone or you can download it on your PC and then upload it on your phone. Enjoy!

[Q] Questions regardin HD2 T-Mobile!

Good evening! I just bought a T-Mobile HTC HD2 and I want to know what program can I use to watch(convert) movies on it, as any movie I put on it, doesn't play it fluently, but with interruptions. Are there any codecs to install so that i can play movies on it?i also tried to put some avi/mp4 videos and they dont play at all .Although the manufacturer claims the phone can play Avi/mp4 etc! I know the phone comes with a card and with Transformers 1 & 2, but I didnt get the card from the person who sent it to me and I was just curious how those movies play. Can i find the movies anywhere? In the past i had 2 HD2's(not T-Mobile HD2) and when i wanted to put a wallpaper bigger the the screens resolution, the phone resized it to be used as wallpaper, but HD2 T-Mobile does not resize them but it stretches it and it looks ugly.I have only one more question for now:can flash player be installed on it?I found another problem :i set the time to a location, but every time i turn off the phone, when i switch it on it returns to GMT+2 Helsinki,Riga,Sofia and the clock goes an hour forward(I'm from Romania).

all of these questions can be answered by searching the forums....
id give you some links but im posting from device and its a pain in the ass....
ok, quick response - but dude, for everything I cant answer in one line off the top of my head seriously just search (and don't use the bad search engine on this site - search on google with xda in the box)
xmedia recode - great for converting - has a special htc hd2 setting
you don't need to install any codecs but if you want to install coreplayer to tcpmp
wallpaper - seach that, or batch resize, or if you're using CHT test the different wallpaper modes.
if flashplayer means flash - then yes, but search that
for the location - go into settings ---> and somewhere there (I would check in all settings and not in the sense settings) you can turn off autoupdate. If you want an exact place just search
Hope that helped a little bit more.
The thing that i find very weird is that a phone so powerful and with such great capabilities, can't play a video the right way(without converting it)and my Nokia N8 plays avi and mp4 videos without any problem(without converting them). On my old HD2 i tried to play some converted videos, but those didn't play well at all. It's like a 30FPS video that plays good, and a video taken at 15-20FPS that doesn't play that good. The N8 is just a simple phone with a great camera, and it can't be compared with the great HD2 and it's great hardware.
one answer for video..plays all formats, no need for converting...drag/drop and play....coreplayer 1.3.6 (paid version) or tcmp player (same free version)..enjoy
for wallpapers_install cookies home tab (CHT), and CHT editor
MP4 and AVI are not a consistand file formats. If you think of them as folders inwhich video and audio compressed files are filed. For example a DIVX film is a .avi file. My DVD player can play back DIVX AVI files, but cannot playback some other AVI files.
