Hallo:
I have a question:
does anyone knows the mail-in company to replace the broken screen for XDA? How much does it cost?
Thanks
if u got any responce,,let me know too,i m also suffering the same problem.
i have noticed there is a verey little feed back for screen related posts.
www.pdasmart.com does mail in repairs in the US. They are very speedy. If they get your device before 2:00pm they'll send it out the same day. www.gethightech.com also has the part but they won't repair it for you

Hi all i just thought you guys maybe interested in this, on other posts people have wanted to find a place to replace their housing on their phone. Well after ring around i have found this place
http://www.apexlaptops.co.uk
The guy said they will replace the housing (grey original HTC TYTN) for £60 incVat fitting, parts & labour included. I know its hard to get this original housing and i am going to use these guys when i get my phone back.
kidd
* since my phone is with HTC for repair on the call button i asked them for a new housing cost and they said it was £69incVat fitting, parts and labour. So since its with them now i decided to let them do it instead
*Update
Just got a bill from HTC for the new housing, it was quoted as £69 but they told me thats just a quote and its actually cost me £35.25. VERY VERY HAPPY NOW
well... wait a minute before You will start to sing about how good someone is.
apex laptops is maybe the biggest repair center in uk, but believe me or not they are rubbish.
sorry to do that in here, but I was thinking about putting my opinion in this forum anyway.
to make it short - they were dealing with my broken tytn for about 2 months (I had to send it 3 times) with no luck. at the end I was informed, that they cannot repair fault and decided to give up.
don't get me wrong, but they are little bit overpriced and somehow not serious. I didn't received any invoice/receipt (part of the job was done and they took money for it). typical waiting time was not shorter than 7 days.
surprisingly I managed to find REAL specialists called GPS Midlands. Very nice bloke on the other side of the line informed me that they will replace motherboard for about 60 quid and I'll get my device back in approx. 2 working days. JOY.
I'll let You know after the weekend if it was ok.
oh yeah.. btw - XDA repairs are using apex'es services as they cannot do more complicated repairs...
br
i didnt say they good just suggested a place to get their housing replaced coz there didnt seem to be places to get them changed.
I didnt go with apex in the end went with Htc instead and got a shock that they charged me little for replacing the housing compared to other places.
Its nice to know there are prices for people to see as im one of thoughs who search endlessly through forums and find nothing fully useful on this subject.
Actually looking at the prices for things at Gps Midland they are quite good. I live about 15 mins away from them too! haha see if you didnt post it i would of never knew, i can use that for future reference now.
Would of not thought there be places like these in midlands oh well cheers anyway
Not to be trusted it seems - buyer beware

**Update
Ok got my phone back today with new housing and button fixed, with my screen replaced too!!! i never asked for it and its definitely done because i had a slight indent on the screen but nothing that need replacing plus it had a screen protector too but thats gone too. I am really happy with the refurbishment only thing they did that i didnt want was downgrade it back to wm5 but i can change that . Definitely recommended to go to htc if you have a tytn. Cheap and good service and fast.
After month of using Ace I found bad pixel on my screen
What's even worst is that it's in the middle of the screen and I can see it all the time. Did install Dead Pixel Detect to confirm this and unfortunately it is there.
Does anyone know if repair center will give me new one or at least change the screen on this one?
It depense of your warranty... But for me, I know that they will give me a new one if I have this problem.

I'll contact my warranty service and ask them about it, but I'm worried that they might want to change the screen and I don't want that.
After they changed screen and digitizer in my i900(I had white dot from overheating and poor digitizer - common problems with i900) it had specks of dust between the screen and the touch layer.
Hopefully they will give me new one. I'll keep you posted on my situation, maybe it'll be helpful to some
Hey,hi to all!
I had a Live with Walkman WT19i and my screen broke..
I phoned SE to tell me what to do and they told me to send the phone to arvato services in order to be fixed...
After 4 days arvato told me that they can't replace the screen and i need to pay for the whole phone which i had about 1 week before the incident!!!
I phoned SE again and asked them about the phone's screen whether it could be replaced or not but they told me that only arvato knew what can or can't be fixed!
Jesus...
Soo...
What do you think?can the screen be replaced and they try to rip me off or they're telling me the truth..?
I would try your nearest phone repair shops, they might have spare parts for your phones as it a quite new model.
Sorry I couldn't help much
Don't like the sounds of this! Sorry to hear your problem
If the phone has broken after just one week, there is a good chance you can argue it was faulty at the point of sale and demand a new one for free. It is part of a phone's normal operation to sit in your pocket. If it broke whilst under this normal use, it is not your fault, the device is faulty.
My suggestion: get in touch with trading standards, ask them for some help. Then phone both SE and arvato telling them that you have been in touch with trading standards and what they have said. You'll be suprised how much big companies squirm when somebody has trading standards on their side.
Hope this helps, best of luck!
Thats of course your own fault. I guess you dropped it.
Your household insurance will cover this, just tell them a friend accidently dropped it
Thanks for the support Guys!Really appreciate it!
Well actually my friend pushed me accidentialy and I dropped the phone but from not much of a distance from the ground actually!
The question though was whether the screen can be replaced or not...?
Because they said something that they can't change just the screen and they need to change the board(?) if i remember correctly...:S
Tell your friend to pay for it lol
Ooow he WILL pay it!!That's a prommise...
im currently having issues with my panel. checking out multiple threads i finally come to a conclusion... my screen is giving out. there is a certain area where if pressed, i hear the screen creek a bit and i feel it dip in. im assuming this is the cause of my touch screen not responding in certain areas, because its not grounded all the way around. my dilemma is this:
1) its not that bad, so i could just use it till it gets worse
2) get a replacement for my phone
my issue with 2 is that im gonna get a refurbished phone.... ive always had issues with refurbs. i used to work for verizon and once people got a refurb, it was over. they couldnt get a working phone at all after that. a little help or insight on other possible options would be very helpful. thanks in advance guys!

If you decide to keep your phone, you can either have a cell phone shop fix it for you. You are looking around $100 - $140.
If you decide to fix it yourself, a screen kit goes online for around $30 - $50. That and if you've ever worked on a pc(preferably laptops), then this will just be like working on a smaller version. There are how to guides online as well as youtube videos.
Also, I heard from another member who's having their phone replaced that Verizon/Asurion are out of stock on Thunderbolts and will issue a comperable model(probably a charge or revolution).

Hi,
I see yellow tints on the screen edges when the phone gets hot. I know Sony has admitted this to be a problem with Xperia S. I contacted Sony Support and they said that they can't support the phone as the phone isn't available in US. Can anybody suggest me my options? How do I get this fixed? Has anyone in US faced this problem?
Thanks

First we have a few threads like this that you could have found instead of posting in a new thread.
What is your phone market built? I mean for which market your phone was built for? Where did you buy it?
Open the batter cover in the back and read the lable somewhere says 12Wxx what is the number for XX?
First of all I didn't find answer to my question on any of the threads posted. Maybe I missed it, sorry for that.
The number you asked is 12W09. I bought the phone from ebay from a reseller. Not sure where he imported the phone from.
Its part of the screen, the only solution is to either A, keep the phone really cool, or B replace it. As you dont have any RMA option, you're left with option A. G'luck with that.
lolz, option A isn't really an option. Thing gets hot and if it's anything like mine it'll start showing at lower temperatures and spread.
I'd contact the shop you bought it from and ask them to send you a replacement.
Does anyone know what fix is it? is it something we can do it ourselves?
