Hi guys, I´m really in trouble, and hope someone can help me !
First of all I make a ppc 2002 CE and Boot copy from my XDA to SD card.
after all, I copied these Files to my computer ! so I have these Files anytime when It needed.
Then I used XDARit to make a copy from my mm2003 file to my sd card.
included also with a nb0 file for my bootloader.
After I flashing from SD Card, i should make a cold reset.
AFter coldreset I haven´t got a bootloader nor anything.
Just a ****ing grey nothing.
Please, I am in really trouble. what can I do, I need your help so much.
Thanx forward,
surreal5
So you copied win ce and boot to sd card, then you copied the files from sd card to pc and then used the sd card for something else?? Personally I keep an sd card with my original rom in a safe place, you cant just copy files to it and expect it to work as it is in some kind of special format. I think you need to go download the tools for sd writing on usb reader/writer, all the tools are available so look around the site and read lots on the subject before actually attempting anything.
Thanx cruisin-thru,
I wil try it !
So it is possible to restore my bootloader with my copy from pc ?
that would be great.
thanx so much

I was in the middle of an flash backup (the one that saves your settings in case the battery goes dead I think?) and pressed the cancel button then my XDA just hung. So i did a soft reset and now all i get is the xda-developers.com rom image and it wont go any further. I have tried a hard reset but still get the same results. Have done soft reset as well and same happens. Have a broken it or have I wiped something from the ROM. Is is just a case of reloading the rom again from the SD card? I have downloaded a rom version onto sd card but cant seem to get the xda to read from sd card. It just offers me the option to copy to sd not from sd card.
Any help much appreciated
If the sd card that was in the xda was the same one that you backed up your rom to, it is now useless for the purpose of restoring the rom. The backup program on the xda would have overwritten the backup from the bootloader as far as I know so you will need to write the sd card again using tools available on the forum in conjunction with sd card reader/writer.
I have downloaded a different rom version from Jeffs kitchen onto sd card but cant seem to get the xda to read from sd card. It just offers me the option to copy to sd not from sd card. There is no option to write it to the xda. Am i missing something obvious on the xda re which buttons to press to do this?
You cant just copy the file to sd, it has to be written to the card using tools available on the forum, if it written correctl the xda will see it when in bootloader mode and will write it to rom once you confirm that you want it to.
is it the xdatools software that i need as i have tried that and it doesnt seem to work when inserted into the xda
it is ok now. I have fixed it. Thanks anyway.
So what was the problem?
xdatools didnt copy across the files correctly (or I messed them up somehow which is more likley!).
i'm on a Mac, so I am wondering if its possible to flash the Radio from the SD or in a way that does NOT involve a computer. the phone is SuperCID and I have successfully flashed the regular ROM a number of times using the OK+PWR+RESET method from an SD card, but now i noticed that i can upgrade my Radio too.
I am trying to flash it with HERM_Radinly_1.54.30.10_CustomRUU and do not have access to a PC.
Pls help.. 'cause the Wiki hasnt yet. Not very Mac friendly, and I dont have Parallels.

If you want to flash rom by SD card. the file should be in .nbh format. also need to rename in HERMIMG.nbh.
You can flash by SD if you're direct use of HERM_Radinly_1.54.30.10_CustomRUU
Shouldn't be a problem.
Open your radio file with winrar and you should see a xxxxxx.nbh file in there - probably about 14MB size. Extract this file to your SD card and rename it to HERMIMG.nbh then flash the same way you did before.
As a tip, I normally make sure the SD card is empty (I usually format it also) before I copy the nbh file to it.

it seemed needn't to make SD card empty. BUT MAKE SURE YOUR SD CARD IS FAT32 FORMAT, it's important.
change name to HERMIMG.nbh and copy it to SD card(just place it to SD Card do not copy to and folders)
i've done this several times.
Card flash zeroes PIM data?
Awesome, exactly the info I was looking for. Just one more question before I go for it. I know as a general rule it's a good idea to back everything up. But just so I know, will flashing the radio wipe out the thing? Or will I not need to load all my data back in?
no it will not wipe anything out.....
just load it and soft reset
Hi,
Since I mostly use Linux and Mac OS X, it's not very easy for me to flash my TyTN. There is an article in XDA-Wiki which describes a way to flash my device from the SD card, but it mentions formatting the card before doing the upgrade.
Is it absolutely needed to do so? I have lots of files in my card and I don't want to move them every time before I flash my phone.
Thanks in advance for your answers.
AFAIK, as long as your card is formatted in FAT32, then it should work.

Thanks for your answer, a test will convince me ...
i can confirm that you don't need to format it as long as it's FAT32. I can't flash ROMS at work for some reason (no admin privileges, i suspect) and so I occasionally flash from my SD card. It actually works really well.
Above posts are corre correct. I flash from SD card all the time, in fact i have NEVER used a cable to flash my phone. As long as the SD card has been formatted as fat32 you can flash from it without removing other files. I keep all my cabs, sms\contacts backup, files, contact pics, etc. in folders on the SD and then copy the .NBH file to the root of the card and flash away, makes it easy to change ROM's with minimal fuss and can even be done without a computer. About two weeks ago I found myself stuck in an airport and downloaded a new rom via airport wi-fi, extracted nbh file with pocket rar, renamed and saved to SD and viola, new ROM.
I confirm that too. What you absolutely need is to have it formatted in FAT32. SDcard flashing is the only way i use too. BUT... (yes... there is a ...but...) it happens that the "hermimg.nbh" is not detected if it is not one of the first files on your card. In this case, when you "hardreset", no file will be found. This is why i recommand to format it before.
Hello,
FCWs 6.5 Home edition 8325,2gig
Long story involving a 5 year old.
Basically right now I can only fire up in sort of a limp mode; "low on memory" or no "permission". Probably due to scores of "FILE000x.chk" files on the device after using Pocket Mechanic Pro on microSD card.
1) It'll only reliably boots with a battery out/in technique.
2) Its "connected" to desk-top PC but as a "guest" and isn't "synced"
3) I can browse it through ActiveSync on the PC, but can't add, move or delete files due to "low memory" or "permissions" (same on the 8525)
4) A few programs won't run and are not recognized as "valid P-PC" apps, including the front end "home2"
5) Can't flash anything as SSPL ROM flasher gives "ERROR [224]: device not responding".
Started with a corrupt 2 gig microSD, couldn't write to it, ran Pocket Mechanic Pro. that Problem solved, this prob created.
Read all Wikis, searched error 224, reflashed about 15 times, know the ropes.
Any Ideas are greatly appreciated!
Regards, PK
Have you tried flashing the rom from the memory card, its the only thing that i can suggest i don't know much about broken hermes.
Hope this helps and that you find a fix
Thanks for the reply Scott,
That was my next line of attack but I'm not clear yet on exactly how to do it (I'll find out).
My big problem is I can't add (or remove or even move) any files on the device either from File explorer on the phone or through. ActiveSync on the pc (I can look at them though...). I also dont have a card reader writer.
I think a lot of problems would go away if I could delete all the 200+ *.CHK files generated by Pocket mechanic pro. I think that where all my memory went.
I just found a way using delete feature in "RAR" ...6 down 200 odd to go. Antone know how to select multiple files?
Regards, PK

Now its in solitary
I managed to delete 219, *.chk files from the rom hoping to free up memory. I'ts still isolated, I cant add any files to it (like a ROM or utility) through activeSync. The warning is it "can't find the file or path." of the file. To flash a rom from I still get "error 224," don't recognize the device.
Tried to load the SD card with a rom through my camera, no luck, the camera says "cannot flash".
The OS still works in a limp mode, no phone, half the programs inaccessible and home2 no longer works.
Fun.
PK
Have you tried connecting the card to the computer and reformatting it from there you might then be able to flash another rom
Thanks,
I don't have a card reader. The only thing I do have is a printer that accepts multiple card types and a camera that takes this card. So far I can't right to either.
Ya, theres a thread that tells how to flash from a card. Right now though its just of limits.
Thanks, PK
Edit: just got card reader.
Have SD Card with rom can't boot off it and install.
Hello all interested,
1) So I bought a card reader and as per 2 wikis, reformated my SD card fat32 and a single partition of about 190megs.
2) I copied just the "RUU_signed.nbh" file from my stripped ATT rom RAR file. (The wikis were a little unclear as they were apparently using different roms)
3) I installed this ROM directly from my PC to SD card through the card reader. And put the little SD card into the phone. ( I can only read not write anything though activesync as wiki implies. Problem?)*
4) As per wikis , hard booted with pen while holding power and OK keys.
5) All I get is the 4 striped screen with a IPL and SPL verbiage. NOT the "loading from SD card" as described in the wikis.
Help... anybody, PK
* Does loading the ROM through Active syn? I know it changes format of some files

Did you rename the file RUU_singned.nbh to HERMIMG.NBH?
Thanks alot for the reply,
I think you are the man! I did change the name but changed it to HERMING.NBH not HERMIMG.NBH. It seems to be flashing (slowly) right now.
If this works I owe you a BIG cerveza!

Vijovame,
You are definitely the man.
I flashed the plain Jane stripped ATT ROM but EVERYTHING WORKS! It syncs, the phone works, camera, etc, etc...Now I'm off to flash something interesting.
Thanks for making me re-read the .nbh name. (I've been trying to fix this about half the time I've owned it...my first smarphone)
All the best!!
PK
its good to hear that youve sorted it, theres a few roms out there at the moment so you may have to look around a bit and flash quite a few of them, the safest way is the card method but it is up to you.
Have fun with your hermes
Scotty,
Ironically I had already blindly flashed just about everything out there without a hitch. I finally settled on one. That's when all 'ell broke loose. Now I've got the stripped ATT on my flash drive ready to install anytime if I have to.
Thanks, PK

Have you tried doing all your copying on a PC? I mean, taking your 8GB to a PC... copying files to a temp folder. Putting the 32GB card into the PC and copying all your files to the new card. I have always done this and I had no issues with folders not copying properly.

Like the pserson above me said, have you tried on the PC? Also when you do copy it over on PC make sure that you have all administrative rights on your computer so it can go through.
I know this is a tad old, but A nandroid backup such as done by 4EXT Recovery or even ClockworkMod should backup the .android_secure folder/partition/etc (in 4EXT Recovery when you do a backup, it saves the boot, system, data, cache, sd-ext/sd-ext2 into a backup which can be then be copied over to a new card after you partition it how you want, then run the restore process).
Likewise you could probably tarball it via adb shell in order to transfer it across file systems that do not support linux permissions and ownership flags.
