i just got my xda2 and im wondering if i need to backup anything if i unlock it from out of box state.
thanks in advance
No, its only data that is lost, it will revert to factory settings. Nothing lost, plenty gained.

It might be a stupid question, but I am curious.
I got my Optimus One unlocked with a code purchased off ebay. But, I need to restore it to factory settings to delete the first google account that was established with the phone so I can establish a google account for my son as the default. But if I reset it, will it relock the phone back to its own brand? If so, do I need to get a new unlock code or will the code they sent me still work?
Thanks
A google search gave me the answer..
No. The phone will remain unlocked.
When you unlock a phone to all networks it can not be locked again. Its not reversible.
So you are safe.
hit thanks button if i helped you.
Thanks for the answer.
Hi all,
Im trying to do a factory reset as I want to give my phone to my girlfriend but obviously dont want her to access my google mail/phone numbers/ etc. As I cant just remove my googlemail account, it tells me to do a factory reset. when i do this the phone restarts and hangs on
"Failed to boot 2
starting RSD mode"
The phone is a french retails unit that was bought in china, it seems to be rooted by the chinese vendor as its got superuser and a load of other chinese stuf on it (I assume that this is in order for chinese people to use a french retail handset with all their own market and apps etc)
So any idea of how I can remedy the situation? I dont neccesarily need the phone to BL unlocked or anything, just return it to the state it was when i bought it, or flash original rom back onto it.
many thanks,

I think that you need to format with fastboot and reflash an retail sbf with rds lite.
you could go in to recovery and wipe cache and data…i thnk thats what factory reset does
I searched arround and have not found the answer for this one. A friend of mine have a lumia 710 and he went to germany on a business travel and took pictures. When he came back he was tired and while he was sleeping his mom put the wrong password many times, thinking she was dialing =/ , so the cellphone erased everything, because of the security policy.
Is there any way I can get the pictures back? I was thinking of installing a custom ROM and acessing the file system through my PC and use a software to recover deleted archives. In a hard drive that would be possible if it is not encrypted but I am not sure if this is possible on flash memory.
I am open to any suggestions.
I already told him he lost everything but I would try something, he allowed me to do whatever needed, flash ROMs and etc even knowing he could lose the phone.
Any suggestions? comentaries or critics?
I am a relatively new user to the fórum, I tryed to follow the rules sorry if I did something wrong
Thanks in advance !
I recently bought a used samsung s6 edge by e-bay off of someone and most of his information was already deleted. I did a hard factory reset because i wanted to flash en root the phone.
After flashing the Phone i get a message that the Device is locked because of an abnormal factory reset. sign in to the samsung account that you have already signed into on this device to confirm it belongs to you.
Is there another way to bypass this issue?
All help is more than welcome,
Thanks
Only by box. Must delete FRP. I make this service but i'am in Portugal
box?
What kind of box?
Reset via recovery?
Hello everybody.
my question is a little bit noobish, is losing a phone with locked bootloader have any security benefits?
like if it's lost or stolen can the thief access my data ?? can he use the phone after formatting it ??
i really need to know it, and my English is not very good as i tried to search for any updated topic about this matter and i couldn't find such thing
On locked bootloader, he can't access your data as your storage is encrypted and any attempt to unlock the bootloader will wipe the storage out. Even if he does some kind of a factory reset, he will still come to the point where he needs a password to unlock the phone after a reset. So no, he can't really use the phone if the bootloader is locked.

With locked bootloader, the thief will not be able to use the phone at all if you have it in secure lock screen.
With unlocked bootloader if you are encrypted (not flashing fde) he will be able to use the phone but will never have access to your data.
With unlocked bootloader and unencrypted (by flashing fde) he will be able to use the phone AND have access to your data.
Thanks guys very helpful, I needed to know the risks... Many thanks [emoji4]

Eventually you can unlock the phone, without using FDE, and backup/flash/restore with an USB-OTG cable and a USB drive, so your data will be encrypted but you still can "play" with your phone. That's what I did.
