Just performed a battery test in the xda system diagnostics. It shows that my xda is getting no charge!
Checked the supply for output and that is ok
Anyone else who has got charging/battery problems give this test a try.
Just go into wallaby boot loader (press soft reset and power button at the same time). When it loads press the action button and diagnostics will be loaded. Navigate down to "battery" and press the action button again.
There are several codes displayed but i dont know what they mean. On the "charge" section it displays "ERROR !!"
Does anyone know what is causing this to happan and how i might fix it?
Got to a stage where i have tried everything to fix the damn peice of crap and will throw it up the wall soon
Anyones help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I have looked at that, when plugged in to charger it says Main voltage0x0261 Ext voltage 0x0000, Chg voltage 0x0000. Vos FFFF, Rob 0270, mine is chargin ok though. Have you tried another battery? I am selling a battery from an xda I am breaking, dont throw it up the wall it wont do it any good at all. I did see a few things about this on this site, and also diagrams that fixed the problem if indeed it is a broken circuit.
Thanks for that info and checking yours out. I havent tried a new battery yet cos i am conviced that its something else.
A few people i have spoken to have the same problem and they have put new 1800mA batteries in. Still the fault remains. I have also seen on this site someone who has bridged a wire over one of the fuses. I didn't really want to resort to this yet!
I have literally spent hours on this site for a fix for this problem but found nothing that has worked for me so far.
Do you know of anymore links that i haven't mentioned?
Here's what my xda lists on the diagnostic:
CHARGE STATUS:
ERROR!!
Main Voltage:
0x01F0
Ext. Voltage:
0x0000
Chg. Voltage:
0x0000
VOS: FFFF
ROB:0000
Thanks for your help cruisin-thru!
I know this is obvious but I take it you have checked it out using another cradle/charger/usb sync/charger.
Yep. Got a friend of a friend to lend me his cradle. No good though!
This might help...
There's a guy here that fixed his non-charging XDA by wiring across a small fuse.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=4811
I saw that one thanks pete. I haven't had the bottle to do that yet though!
I was thinking maybe as a last resort! What do you think?Do you think that it might damage my xda even more?
The bloke who fixed his said it works ok. Fair play to him in having the guts to do that. Have you seen how close all the components are together?
Oh well if all else fails!
You really need a thermostat controlled tiny tipped soldering iron for that job, dont risk it if you dont feel capable, however if you did the job of taking it apart, locating the point that needs bridging etc, I am sure a local small tv repair shop owner could do it in 5 minutes, offer him a few quid for doing it while you wait.

I think holding a multimeter over the part to see if it conducts is unlikely to do much harm. If it conducts, no need to solder. If it doesn't, nothing else will help.

Hi i was wondering if anybody has any ideas how i could get my XDAs working again.
I know excactly what i have done but it just trying to find out to sort it.
I Tried to charge my XDA using an iPaq Sync and charge USB cable.it didnt charge the phone but didnt show any problems untill i tried to charge them with the Proper XDA charger. No Charging light and no response.I can't get it into bootloader mode, hard and soft reset does nothing, it is a proper dead phone.
I was thinking that i have obviously blown a resistor or a fuse somewhere it is just trying to find out what one and how to fix it.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Taylor,
Same thing happended to me yesterday after my GPS HW company sent me back the wrong cable
Try searching with IPAQ and Fuse or cable or connector.
I have found the most valuable poste at

Well that's what I'll see tomorrow as I'm driving 400 Km to pay them visit which may be quite hot
I anticipate quite a battle taking into account the relative small margin they have made with me versus the cost of an XDA.
We'll see :!:
True, but negligence bears a cost. Certainly you were not at fault. Seems though that a repair could be done, especially considering some of the posts here that illustrate a fuse that causes similar symptoms.
We’ll see.
As you suggest, there are walk around regarding the fuse issue.
My worry is that the speaker (when I speak) seems neither working neither the one on the device itself nor the earphone speaker.
Any hint ?
Hello
in the last few weeks i got some emails of ppl who had problems charging
their XDA's. So i decided to redo my Mod and make a few new pics.
First of all it seems like XDA Charger can't filter fluctuations in the powerline hence the fuse that is supposed to make sure your XDA wont be fried blows and you cant charge it anymore.
The fuse itself seems to be a 1.5 AMP fuse, unfortunatly i wasnt able to get one of these babies in...i could have used the 3.0 AMPs but i thought it
might be smarter to stick with the specs.
So where to get it from? Fortunatly i discovered that the same fuse is
built into the XDA twice. The second one is responsible for the extended battery pack, which i dont use. Perfect for my mod
Please DO NOT do this if you dont know anything about soldering.
I was just lucky Just call and expert...most will do it for free or charge a small fee.
@Peter Poelman : i hope you like this one better
Okay...lets start with the pics...
its upside down...lol
lucky the ones who preview
sorry for that
Before i forget...after this mod you should not use an extended battery pack anymore....i bought a 1800mAh battery from expansys.
which lasts me for 7 hours hard PDA gaming fun...
Aquasesh,
Your post will quite probably save my day as I have pluged the wrong cable in my XDA.
But I'm quite unclear on the exact order of your picture. I've seen it's been posted in reverse but I'm still confuse.
Could anyone put numbers instead of my X so that I can next search a techni guys to have him do it for me.
. X X
. X X
. X X
. X
Tanguy
Ignore the bottom picture, then read right, left, right, left, right, left.
Where's the blown fuse?
I know it's been a while since you must have done this but how do I get the top cover off. I unscrewed the one black screw I could find and managed to get the 4-way cursor button out but I don't see how to get access to the front to do the soldering.
Thanks,
Daniel

after solder the wallaby fuse...don´t work
hi
I have solder the fuse one month ago...and works fine...now after charge in my car the wallaby stay´s off...try to solder the fuses again...but nothing.
Is my wallaby dead?
to all
better replace fuse with same value, not bigger or with wires, and check your charger, maybe voltage is too high.otherwise you'll damage your device.abnormal voltage input may fry your xda.
hi
one month ago i have solder and dont put a fuse...whne i charge in the car the led turn off and never wake up again...so may be my wallaby is dead now?
there is any thing i can do to put my wallaby work?
or i have to buy another PDA?
please help me...what can i do?
i again...nobody help me?
can i do something to solve this problem?
don't know what to say, remove battery, let him without battery some time few hours or more, search for another charged battery and try again, maybe only charging part are damaged.
i don´t have another battery...is built in...i gone try discard from wallaby few hours...
another adivece?
manythanks
Hi
I removed the battery a lot of hours...and nothing
anotther sugestion please?
Does anybody out there know what may be wrong with my wee Wallaby? The battery fuse is gone, so i've jumpered it out but despite the battery voltage being 3.5v the unit wont start at all. It doesn't respond to any reset and I cant get it to enter bootloader mode. Any info would be appreciated, i'm an electronic engineer and noticed there are quite a lot components involved in the battery circuit.
Thanks.
Buy a replacement on ebay for 10 us . LOL Upgrade your wallaby its olddddddddddd
Yeah, i've ordered one already! I was unsure though if this was going to be a waste of cash. A whole £13! I'll let you know how it works out. Thanks for the reply.
I think you have probably fried the logic on the battery. As for upgrading, I think the Wallaby is the best value pda/phone available anywhere.
Hi there,
Got my new battery and low and behold it has brought my Wee Wallby back from the grave! The battery IC's must have been faulty, there's five pins on the circuit board for the motherboard to connect to so I reckon the battery logic is quite sophisticated.
Thanks for the help guys, I tried O2 in Glasgow but they didn't want to help at all unless the XDA was a warranty job.
I've also upgraded my ROM to the one and only XDA Developers special and I have to say it's a real improvement all round.
Goodnight gadget lovers!
My atrix won't power on (dropped in water); I have had it in dried rice, placed in a zip bag, and sun dried....before all that I immediately removed the battery and shook out whatever water i could. I've waited a full day but still no luck; if I remove the battery and plug in to PC with battery removed I get green LED but other than that I get nothing (for example if I switch to wall charger immediately the LED goes out). If at worst case I need a replacement, how difficult would it be to have this done without the AT&T purchase receipt (I'm not an AT&T customer)? I purchased the item on eBay a little over a month ago. I've read in forums to unroot before attempting return but that's not gonna happen (lol). My girlfriend hates that I even got an atrix so she's kinda happy this happened...a little off topic here, but I really love my atrix so can someone please help me out?!

Well, no help cuz no solution is available. Your phone is screwed and if it fell into water, the water seals must be screwed up as well and guarantee is void.
Think about it
Well the green LED comes on when plugged into USB like I said...but other than that nothing...I can't find the OEM charger adapter of all the times to be lost. I guess since other threads were successful in revival I would have hoped I would get lucky. Thank you for your reply.
They will know it's been in water by the sensors. They will also know you didn't buy from them. Best bet is insurance if you have it, but I think you are out of luck.
Beamed in from WinBorg 4G via XDA Premium app
i jumped in the river about 2 weeks ago and completely forgot i had my atrix in my pocket. i would say it was about a good 5 mins underwater. Water damage sign appeared on atrix as well as battery. (red dot). i did the rice thing too..but nothing. unless you're insured..which i was..theres nothing you can do. sorry for your loss.
Does anyone have a general idea of how much it would cost to have the board replaced then?

Is that USD? H%*LY *^&%!! But that doesn't look like the board that I've seen
funny. i looked up the same info as you are. That link is what a friend of mine sent me. so im not to sure. maybe someone here with better knowledge can help you out.
Cheaper to buy a new phone!
You're guessing/assuming it is the board/just the board.

Actually I sat and thought about it and there's the fingerprint and camera to also take into consideration, as well has other functionalities just didn't post. I'm in between studying Windows Server 2008 , watching TV, and just randomly doing other things. Thanks to you all for your help though. I may just try to find an atrix with just a broken screen or just forget about it all together. I've only had the phone for 3 weeks but stuff happens, consider it $500 down the drain .
Disassemble it, take a look at it, remove the corrosion manually. Use a heatgun on the components, but dont overheat it. Afterwards put together and check if battery still has power with a multimeter. Reassemble and plug into wall charger. See what happens

I say this is your best bet. Try this, or get someone with some electronics knowledge to take a look.
It beats just tossing it.
Either that or put it up on ebay and try to recoup some money. someone with a broken screen, or camera might want to buy it for parts.
I am having a problem after my phone was dropped in water. The phone is now fully dry but I am having battery issues. It seems that the phone believes the battery to be empty all the time. I can charge it whilst the phone is off until it states it is at 100% but as soon as i turn it on it says the battery is at 0% and turns off even whilst plugged in.
I have flashed a few different roms to see if the software had any bearing on it. The only difference I got was with CM 10.1 I was able to run the phone whilst it was plugged in but as soon as I unplugged it died.
I have tried the battery in other phones and it works fine and I have tried batteries from other phones (ones that I know are fine) and it says they are empty.
I did have one case when the phone came on and stayed. The battery level stuck at about 70% and never decreased over 24 hours. As soon as I rebooted it it said it was empty.
To me it seems like the bit of hardware that checks the battery level is failing. I have opened up the phone and given it a clean but no joy.
Any Ideas?
Yes since sensitive electronic components dont seem to mix well with water youll have to replace them.
Start with the usb board, then maybe motherboard if nothings changed.
Can anyone point out on the boards which bits are responsible for power management.
Also where would I be able to get replacement boards from?
TheUnderling posted a link to the service manual a week or so ago, search through his recent posts to find it. That has schematics/parts lists in it.
Re: getting another board, your best bet is to find a screen damaged phone on eBay or similar, Samsung aren't in the business of selling just motherboards (they'll charge you maybe half of what a new phone would cost to replace it).
You could see if Kevin Costner is going to make Waterworld 2,then he could maybe buy it off you.
You can get a new s2 now for £199.99 from Orange.

Not funny and not useful
Sorry,I shouldnt make jokes about it.What to do is take it to the man from atlantis and get a quote for a repair.
I don't mind you making jokes actually. It means you keep bumping my question to the top of the boards and then maybe someone who actually is helpful may help me out.
You got your help. The motherboard (at the very least) is cactus. And maybe other components. What else are you hoping for anyone else to tell you ? You dropped the phone in water, think about it. Ain't rocket surgery.

Hes got to start "splashing" the cash on a battery>usb board for starters.
And whos to say it aint going to end up in water again.
Best to sell the phone on and hope a mug buys it.
I guess I was juts hoping for more positive suggestions rather than sarcastic comments
Theres no point in having a go at me or mistahbungle, its "water off a ducks back" to us.
Youve been advised what to get(if you must)....in cheapest order. You can hit the search button and see threads about water damage which will give you an idea of solutions.
Ive read 100's of posts about water damage and some people have not had any problems.
So as things stand, your looking at spending between £8 to £150.
