I just got my xda II from ebay and been reading this forum for a week now. All the rom thing is kinda of confusing but informative. The device came with
ROM version: 1.52.00WWE
ROM date: 10/23/03
Radio Version: 1.25.14
Protocol Version: 1337.14
ExtROM version: 1.52.82
Should I upgrade? I know it is not the original since it is 1.30 which version is this?
Any help would be appreciated.

I forgot to mention that I am in US with a t-mobile provider. If any one have advice it would be really great. Meanwhile I will play with my new toy.

To those of use without the benefit of Xtal balls, you might mention what rom version you have, your carrier e.g. T-Mobile and other salient items.
O2 should have an update in Jan04

there is an OFFICIAL UPGRADE ready and existing, but not yet PUBLIC,

Hi guys. I have the following:

ExtROM Version: 1.60.44
Of course, I don't know what any of that means but would appreciate one of the Gurus on this site to suggest a suitable upgrade for me. Something tried, tested and suitable for technophobes like me (ie simple download, copy to device and run .exe?).
I am living in Singapore so a suitable Asian version please.
Also, does anyone have any problem with the ringtones on the XDA II (Himalaya)... I am forever missing calls because it just doesn't seem loud enough. My old mobile/hand phone had the neighbours complaining of noise pollution.
Is there a solution for this?

Try the SE CHS version, located on the FTP site. You should.

and tried the CHS translated and it made the screen all skippy and it was impossible to setup, etc. So what I did was I just used the genuine wm2003se in the wiki and created my own extended rom, much easier ;D
