unresolved files in active sync - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

I sync my SX56 between my home and work PC's and always seem to have unresolved items in my 'files' folder even when they have not been edited. Any ideas?

2 possible reasons
1 well if you try to sync a file from your pc to your xda which is too big it show up as unresolved
2 if you have a program activ on the xda which lock a file which active sync want to remove it also end up as unresolved
maybe also if it's trying to remove some files you changed to
rw protected

I had a similar problem with the to do template in the notes. I did every thing I can on the xda and failed. I found this to do template to be open and active in the outlook express, I deleted it and the problem disappeared. I mean you may have opened a file on the microsoft outlook and did not close it, look for open files in the xda and in the outlook as well

Its getting very frustrating. This is how it will go down:
1. Edit file on PC
2. Sync to PPC - everythings fine.
3. Sync at home (have not touched the file at home) - unresolved.
4. Set to overwrite PC and sync.
5. Edit file at home
6. Sync to PPC - everythings fine.
7. Sync to PC at work (haven't touched the file at work since syncing.
8. UNRESOLVED and I bang my head on the desk.
It will happen every time. Nothing is open on the PPC or PC locking that file and it is every file I edit!

ActiveSync 3.8.0 too!
I sync with Outlook-Calendar at work and when I try to sync with my Home pc
the Calendar shows a significant number of unresolved items.
If I try to resolve the items, it is looking for contact names in Contacts
for meetings I have set up at work inviting others. These names do not exist
in my Home pc Contacts and it is always prompting me to create new ones.
Is there anyway I can disable this feature?

need help! contact list wont sync after upgrade to new rom!

Please help! im dying without my contacts. this is what happened (typing with my 8525 so bare with me)
I had black satin on my 8525. I have done a couple rom changes and the contact list always resynced automatically everytime.
I had to reformat my computer but I had saved my WM_James_Klafe2 file.
a few days ago I reflashed my 8525 with a new rom and when I synced the phone to the laptop it created a new phone name and folder WM_Owner
when I try to sync contacts through activsync it says I need to disconnect phone, install outlook, run outlook and resync.
I haven't lost anything from reformatting have I? I had a microsoft office 2000 cd but its all scratched and won't install. I downloaded a trial version of student office but it didn't help my situation at all. and I didn't even see outlook in the office student 2007 edition anyway.
in the name of god please help im lost.
just now, with my 8525 disconnected from my laptop. I changed the name on my 8525 from WM_Owner to WM_James_Klafe2 which is what my cell was before and that's the name on the folder on my pc that is holding all my info.
but everytime I connect my cell to my pc via activesync it defults back to WM_Owner.

Try this,
Copy the contents of you sync folder to another folder.
delete the partnership and create a new one.
sync with the new partnership.
then copy all the contents that you saved to that folder.
This worked for me....I sync between two laptops and do this quite often.
Hope that helps.....

still no luck. I tried it and it didn't change anything. still no contacts added to my phone.
I think it has something to do with me not having microsoft outlook installed to my computer but I don't know why it matters. I never used outlook anyway.
on activesync, "contacts" are not one of the "information types" that are sync'ed. On Activesync, when I go to Tools, Options, then try to select Contacts as an item to sync I get a message that says "Activesync cannot synchronize Email, Calander, Contacts, Tasks, and notes, because outlook is not installed on Windows PC. To Sync Email, Calander, Contacts, Tasks, and notes do the following: Disconnect the device, Install and run outlook, and then reconnect the device and try again."
I have outlook express on my pc but that doesn't seem to be good enough.

Sorry dude - Contacts are stored within a file called "outlook.pst" on your PC and not in the syncronised folder(there is sometimes a backup file too called backup.pst), this is a file for Microsoft Outlook NOT Outlook express and it usually lives somewhere around c:/docs & settings/<profilename>/local settings/application data/outlook (varies a tad from OS to OS)
If you still have this file or a backup *somewhere* on your PC (use your search facility) and can re-install Outlook - then you will be able to import this file into Outlook and your contacts from the outlook.pst file will resync to your phone.
If you have deleted (or no longer have) this file on your PC - and you have not used something like PIMbackup on your Hermes then sorry - they've gone.
For information - Outlook contacts is a 2-way sync - ie, scrub your phone and it gets them from the PC. Scrub your PC and it gets them from your phone. Scrub both and they're gone for good unless you've made a backup of either one or the other. Same goes for email, calendar and tasks.

To fix this you need to go to settings>system>About>device ID. You can change the name of your ppc that way (or you can for the Hermes).
Cheers...
Awsome!

I was having the same problem as TC, but that did the trick. Thanks Ultra!
sorry to invade this topic but i have a similar problem in the reversed form however .
i recently formatted my PC but being the idiot i am, i forgot to backup the *.pst file from the Outlook folder. now i still have all my contacts in my phone, but i wanted to know how to transfer them over to Outlook.
Resync to pc after installing outlook. When it asks if you wish to combine or replace items on pc pick combine. If you pic replace it will replace with all the contacts in outlook (none) and unless you have pim backup or another backup of your contacts you will loose everything...
Cheers...

Hello, I am facing a problem syncing the pocket with my PC.
Syncronization nevers ends due to the above error.
Don't know if tehre is something to do with the fact I have done the foirst connection of the pocket with another PC which is not the one I am using now.
If so, what can i do to correct it
My PC WVista business
My pocket WM6 V4.0
To syncronize I use Active Sync
Can some one give me a hand?

Windows Vista does not use ActiveSync but instead uses mibile device center. Use the link above to download and install. This will be the method to sync your X7500 with your Vista PC.

I am sorry Iof course I use WMC not ActiveSync. But the problem is allways. Has somebody the same issue?
I do too
I have this problem too. I've tried checking and unchecking "advanced network functionality" under usb to pc. I've tried deleting partnerships and creating new ones. I've tried changing my device ID. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling wmdc. I've even gone into the pc registry and tried to delete all wm keys and then reinstalling wmdc. Nothing has worked. I wish someone could figure this out!
Jonathan
1) Delete the partnership on Athena and in the WMDC.
2) Restart the PC.
3) Create a new relationship
4) When the name for the device is suggested CHANGE IT from the one you choose for the last partnership.
5) Don't sync mobile favorites
it shoul be solved
and during sync, if isn't still solved, check opening activesync in you device, what is syncing whein it hangs..
Same problem for me
Dont know if this will help anyone but I have discovered a thing or two about syncing with Vista and Outlook 2007 with Exchange.
In Outlook 2007 you can set flags on emails (you can do this in 2003 as well, I know). Anyway, these flags are linked to Tasks and whilst you can sync ordinary tasks from your Outlook with no problem, as soon as you add a flag to an email, Vistas Mobile Device centre throws a bit of a wobbly and goes in an endless syncing cycle or throws up an error when syncing.
To resolve it is quite simple.....either don't sync tasks......or don't set flags on emails rather right click and drag the email in Outlook 2007 to the Tasks folder where you can create a proper task out of the email.
hope this helps

[Q] HTC Sync (Hero 2.1): Can't copy items from PIM?

Hi to all,
Whenever i try to sync my data between my HTC Hero and my pc i get an error-box saying 'error' in the box-header. The inside field is blank. When i close
the box a message from HTC-Sync pops up stating in the header: 'warning' and in the inside field: Can't copy (calendar/ contact)-items from PIM. The sync then ends without syncing anything at all. The other categories sync without problems, however the calendar and contact-categories don't.
I am running Windows 7 on my pc; upgraded the Hero to android 2.1. and use the latest HTC Sync. The calendar/ contacts i try to sync with on the pc are the ones from Microsoft outlook 2010.
I contacted HTC support several times through email and even went on detailed technical support (by phone) with them for hours but they don't seem to be able to help me out regarding this error.
I tried several fixes mentioned on the internet (using vista-drivers; this seems to be obsolete when using the new HTC Sync because the phone connects fine with the program); i set the correct settings in the phone and even tried to find
the pim-file (pim.vol) on the phone (which i strangely can't seem to find).
Any help/ suggestion is more than welcome!
Greets, Parttwo
12th November and still no reply, did you ever get to the bottom if this? If so I'd like to know, and if not, were you using Outlook 2010 64bit?
Pls try the following, it works for me
Many thanks to Dweebken who advise with the solution.
"
I was having this problem just now on an XP SP3 machine with HTC Sync V3.0.5511. (actually, I've been having the problem for a month or so now!). Froyo 2.2 ROM (Official HTC/Telstra release) on the phone. It was working at first for a few weeks then stopped working for contacts and appointments. I uninstalled and reinstalled the HTC software & drivers a couple of times without joy, and checked and rechecked Outlook 2010 settings and folder locations too (rebooting between each attempt).
What fixed it just now was: on the PC, clicking Start, then "Set Program Access and Defaults", selecting "Custom" then selecting "Outlook" in the "Choose a default email program" section. Restarted HTC Sync and plugged the phone in (with Outlook 2010 not running) and the error message is now gone. Checked my phone calendar for the appointments I'd added in Outlook today and confirmed they had synced to the phone correctly.
I hope this helps someone else. YMMV
"

Unfortunately, google calendar sync has stopped.

Error Message: Unfortunately, google calendar sync has stopped.
If you are getting this message persistently, and the usual "fixes" don't seem to fix things, here's what I've found to be true for me. Hopefully it'll help someone else.
What did NOT work:
Clearing the Cache
Changing calendars
Factory reset
Cause:
The problem appears to be synchronization with Outlook via a 3rd party application called Sync2.
When the Problem Appears:
Whenver an annually repeating event (Birthday, Anniversary) is created in Outlook, then sync'd.
Whenever an annually repeating event created in the Google Calendar or Android Phone calendar is MODIFIED by Outlook, then re-sync'd.
Additional Information:
I tried this several times, and if all edits are made on the phone or in Google Calendar, everything works fine. If ANYTHING is changed in Outlook though, the problem recurrs.
I do not know if this happens with other Third-Party sync software.
To test your system, I recommend the following method:
Open your Calendar in Outlook
Create a folder on your Desktop to temporarily store your Annual Calendar items during testing
In Outlook, view your Calendar as a LIST. (In 2010, click the View tab, then in the Current View section, select Change View, and select LIST from the available items. 2003 had similar functionality, but I don't remember the steps to get there.)
Scroll down the list to the section that says "Recurrance: Yearly". Select all items in there and drag them to the folder on your desktop which you just created. This will COPY the items so they can be recovered later if you want.
Delete the items you just copied from Outlook.
Re-sync your Outlook calendar, then wait a couple minutes and re-sync your phone.
If the error doesn't appear, you know you've isolated the problem!
If you need to recover your events, you can drag them out of the folder you created (they will appear as .MSG files) and drop them back on your Outlook calendar list.
Disclaimer:
This is what worked for me. Your particular situation may require variations. For instance, if you use another sync software, you may find that it's not only yearly events that cause the glitch. I don't know. But it's a place to start looking for solutions.
Good luck!:good:

I installed & started using Sync2 yesterday. I just started experiencing this issue today. I do confirm your conclusion. Thank You!! Now, I'm assuming the only work around this issue is to manually enter the annually repeating events into Google Calendar, or on my phone. I have not found any other solution.
Again, THANK YOU!

[Q] HTC Sync Manager - proper way to import photos into HTC gallery

I have several folders with photos from previous cell phones. (not in iPhoto, iTunes).
I have installed the Sync Manager on the MacBook Pro and it is working fine. Questions I have:
1. What is the right way to import those folders of photos into the Gallery using Sync Manager?
2. when I was experimenting, I also "transferred" those folders as "Files" to the HTC One. But now I can not find it? Where does Sync Manager store transferred files?
Thanks!
I have then read the manual for the Sync Manager.
According to that, you have to drag your folder into the Sync Manager for it to 'become its library". Then I synced to the phone.
HOWEVER, when I open the Gallery on the phone, the photos ARE NOT organized by the folder. They are grouped randomly and all over the place. The only thing that seemed still in the same group was an import from iPhoto album.
Any one else tried to import a picture folder to the one?

Hi there, noob posting.
I had the same issue with importing photos from Iphtoto to HTC one... Instead of maintaining the folders I had in iphoto, it randomly assigned them to 1photo/album on my phone.
Any ideas how to delete the now ~4200 "albums" on my phone other than one at a time through the phone?
HTC sync manager says I dont have any pics on there at all. So I dont seem to be able to delete from my mac end
Cheers

Could it be trying to automatically sort them by "Event" (by time or location(within 3km)). I think this is how it auto-magically makes the videos that you can HTC Share. I was reading one review of The One, and HTC told him that he can create separate folders under Events to create separate mini-movies.
Just a guess. . . .
